A Wedding day is one event that every married person never forgets and the wedding songs have a way of sticking in the minds of couples. Even after many years, hearing the song played at your wedding always jogs your memory to the day you got hitched. Kizaro's Blog has compiled our very own 10 of the best wedding songs of all time. Enjoy and let us know your favorite wedding song. 10. Drake - 'Hold On We're Going Home' Canadian rapper, Drake had the idea for a wedding song that would last for ever. While its just a few months old, its classic retro 1980s synth-pop beat and syrupy lyrics has made it hugely popular and the choice of many wedding Dj's and marrying couples alike. 9. Tosin Martins - 'Olo mi' Gospel artiste, Tosin Martins gave us this masterpiece in 2005 off his debut album and it was in heavy demand at almost every Nigerian wedding for years. 8. Cameo - 'Candy' Popular 1980s R & B/Soul Band , Cameo released this in 1986 and while it was a good love song, the band were known more for their less emotional and more raunchy material. However the 1999 romantic comedy movie "The Best Man" shot the song back into reckoning when the main characters performed a charming dance routine at the end of the movie. The movie spawned plenty of copycats routines in a couple of weddings this writer attended . 7. P Square - "No one be like you" The Okoye twins gave us this out of their 2007 album titled "Do me" and it quickly became one of their most popular love songs ever. It was written as wedding song and is one of the most played Nigerian songs ever at wedding receptions. Continue reading at http://kizarofaro..com/2014/01/our-top-10-best-wedding-songs-ever.html |
Contrary to the Industry's naysayers, 2013 was an amazingly creative year for music and entertainment in general worldwide. Musicians both home and abroad, threw down some wicked material and we loved them all (at least plenty of them). We saw an amazing rise of new artistes and startling consistency of not so new ones. Out of hundreds of songs that deserved to be on our list, it was very tough whittling a pool of so many down to so few. Here's a look at the 13 best of 2013. Happy New Year and God bless y'all in 2014 and beyond. 13. Bruno Mars - "Treasure" Mars reminded us all of the immense talent he displayed in his debut album with this 70s style disco love song from his sophomore album, "Unorthodox Jukebox" which like the songs of the era he copied, fused charm, catchy melody and puppy love lyrics to keep our feet moving and earn a place on number 13 on our list. 12. Burna Boy - "Run my race" 2013 is considered by many including this writer, as the year of Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy, aka Oluwa Burna, aka Burn Anikulapo Kuti (yes i'm a big fan). Out of his amazing debut album "L.I.F.E" came this afro-beat/hip-hop banger that channeled Fela Anikulapo type vocals in Burna's trademark dancehall drawl over a banging beat that Abami Eda himself would have endorsed. 11. Justin Timberlake - "Mirrors" The "coolest white man alive" (Sorry Robin Thicke) made a comeback after almost seven years of movie-making and other pet projects as a mature artiste light years away from his N'Sync band boy days with his album, the "20/20 Experience" out of which came the operatic "Mirrors" Several minutes of bliss that is one of the best things he may ever do. Musically at least 10. Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell & TI- "Blurred Lines" The second "coolest white man alive" Lol! also made a great comeback with the Pharrell Williams produced track that is a dance floor filler complete with suggestive lyrics and rapper TI at his cheeky best. An amazing song that stirred controversy over allegedly ripping off samples of Marvin Gaye's compositions. Still a great track and worthy of a top ten spot. 9. Mafikizolo - "Khona" The South African duo smashed the barrier of being just an local success and totally swept us away here in naija with the awesome "call and response" monster hit "Khona". A force of nature rather than a song, it has an appeal that transcends language and reminds us all of why music is the greatest unifying force on earth. 8. Jaywon - "Odun Yi" (This year) Kennis Music's own answer to hitmaker turned law student, 9ice, released this hit on the 1st of January 2013 and earned a quick place in our hearts with lyrics like "promotion this year, housewarming this year..." Damn good song (he copied Kwam 1 small sha) A slow fuji track that had us all bobbing our heads with hope that all our dreams would come to pass... ahem! 'this year'. World Football governing body FIFA recently collated and calculated the respective speeds of professional footballers in the world and came up with a list of the ten hottest speedsters on the pitch. Unfortunately no Nigerian player made the cut, leaving fans such as this writer to rue the retirement of the likes of Tijani Babangida and Pius Ikedia who both made the list of top ten fastest in the hey days of former Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos and Arsenal hit-man, Thierry Henry who both took the glory of fastest player at some point. The top ten chart has Man Utd winger Antonio Valencia as the fastest player in the world, followed by Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon. ycmdng: A very dependable riffle, any idea about the price? I need one.Sorry you cant get one unless u live in afghanistan, iraq, syria or israel. Its illegal to own an assault rifle in nigeria. Manage a normal shakabula gun ![]() |
While recuperating in a hospital bed from injuries sustained in a battle during World War 2, Sergeant Mikhail Kalashnikov of the Red Army became obsessed with the idea of creating a gun that would drive the Germans out of his motherland. He started the sketches for a super weapon that would match the 7.62mm calibre cartridge and suffered initial disappointments including the gun not being adopted by the Soviet Army before the German war machine was beaten back to the heart of Berlin. Sergeant Kalashnikov in 1949 In 1947 he submitted a stunning prototype of his assault rifle and by 1949 his hard work paid off as his creation was officially adopted as standard issue rifle for the Army and named the “Avtomat Kalashnikova” (Kalashnikov’s Automatic) or “Ak-47”. The assault rifle as a distinct weapon was barely known at the time. A rugged, proud looking firearm identifiable by its long box magazine and is easily the most recognisable gun in the world. The AK-47 is an infantry man’s dream come true. Lighter and smaller than a regular rifle but larger and more powerful than any submachine gun. It was reliable, resistant to corrosion and almost never jams in action. Some have been pulled out from mud after long periods and still let off shots when the trigger is pulled. These qualities plus the fact that the design is extremely simple and can be mastered in a matter of hours by almost anyone has made it the weapon of choice for millions of fighting men in the 64 years of its existence. The significance of its power was felt worldwide and especially in the Pentagon when it propelled the relatively backward North-Vietnamese Army to victory over the United States. It is estimated that the bulk of American fatalities during the Vietnam War was as a result of small arms fire or to be blunt, AK-47 fire. Seun Osewa of Nairaland was honored yesterday among 99 other trailblazing young naija peeps but he didn't attend. Most likely with his laptop programming or something (boooooring!) Culled from www.kizarofaro..com President Goodluck Jonathan threw open the gates of the State House, Abuja (otherwise known as Aso Rock) on Sunday the 15th of December for hosting of the Future Awards event tagged, "100 Best". An event that honoured 100 of its past youthful alumni for their special contributions to Nigeria in their own diverse and trailblazing ways. The 100 spanned different areas of endeavor and included an array of young icons such as Yaw, Tara Durotoye, Seun Osewa, D'Banj, Uti Nwachukwu, Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu and Ebuka Obi-Uchendu among many others. The event notably drew a major chunk of public and private sector leaders including Vice-President Namadi Sambo, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Ben Murray-Bruce, Tony Elumelu and Agriculture minister Akin Adesina. Artistes, Nikky Laoye, Timi Dakolo and musical maestro Cobhams Asuquo spiced up the gig with a couple of uplifting performances. Most notable were the accounts of the awardees and their stories. The essence of the event was beyond the glitz, fancy speeches and bright lights but the inspiring accounts of seemingly ordinary young people doing extraordinary things. To quote the Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina - "you can start small but always think big" http://www.kizarofaro..co.uk/2013/12/inspiring-evening-at-future-awards-best.html?m=1

The list of nominees for the 2014 Grammy Awards coming up on January 26th, 2014 is out and there is an air of inevitability on who the biggest winners will be. Jigga is leading the pack with an (yawn!) nine nominations. Granted he's on top of his game and has been for years now but its getting boring (in my humble opinion at least). Now on to more exciting prospects like Seattle's finest, Macklemore who bagged seven nominations in three major categories outside of the Rap category - Song of the year, Album of the year and Best new artiste. Also bagging seven nominations a piece are Kendrick Lamar. Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake who all helped make 2013 a great creative year for us as well as the music industry. Its been a busy year for Pharrell Check out all the major nominees below, and visit Grammy.com for the full list: Record of the Year Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams - "Get Lucky" Imagine Dragons - "Radioactive" Lorde - "Royals" Bruno Mars - "Locked Out of Heaven" Robin Thicke Featuring T.I. & Pharrell Williams - "Blurred Lines" Read the rest at http://kizarofaro..com/2013/12/pharrell-williams-kendrick-lamar-jay-z.html

February 2nd, 1990, to the relief of the civilised world The Honourable Nelson Rolilahla Mandela was released by former South African President FW De Klerk after 27 years of incarceration by the country's apartheid regime that was to crumble shortly after. The inevitability of his release was due to among a cocktail of factors including the global deification of Mandela as the spiritual leader of South Africa's resistance in a rapidly changing world that had seen the Berlin wall come down months before then. For decades Nigeria had been a heavy supporter of the Anti-Apartheid/Free Mandela campaign and our dream was about to come true. As a teenager in those days it was normal to have grown up amidst a culture of anti-apartheid protest. Besides the dangerous pens wielded by writers back, we also had songs by the likes of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti ("Beast of no nation" , Sonny Okosun ("Fire in Soweto" , Majek Fashek ("Free Mandela" and an army of khaki clad militant reggae artistes that were the rave back then. (Not to mention a special edition of defunct comic, "Ikebe Super" in which the protagonists Papa Ajasco and Pa James with the aid of juju, successfully lead an army into SA and overthrow President Botha) It was natural that weeks before his release, welcome rumours had been filtering in that the amiable and indeed noble FW De Klerk would let Mandela go home and the excitement ran thick until it came to pass.Sonny Okosun's 1977 smash album Shortly after his release, accompanied by his gorgeous then wife and comrade, Mrs. Winnie Mandela, he embarked on an African tour to visit and thank the nations that had supported the struggle for freedom and Nigeria was not left out. He arrived in Lagos on board a Presidential jet and by stroke of luck he visited Enugu, then capital of Anambra State. This writer was a schoolboy in the Federal Government College and as a keen follower of the news, I knew that the military governor, Col. Robert Nnaemeka Akonobi (Rtd) had organised a grand public reception for him at the Okpara Square, Independence Layout. With the help of an older cousin who was going, I hatched and carried out the successful plan to attend the event and get a glimpse of my hero. Soon to be given the remake treatment is classic action movie, Robocop. Its amazing how time flies and its also harder to accept that the original movie is actually 27 years old. A landmark in the science fiction/action genre. For the uninitiated, Robocop is a 1987 movie that tells the story of Alex Murphy, a decent cop/family man who is shot in the line of duty and gets his life saved by a powerful corporation that uses what's left of him to make a crime-fighting cyborg, hence the title of the movie. Original 1987 movie poster The movie is due for release in 2014 and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Keaton and it will be interesting to see if the remake can have the same impact as the original. The original was an iconic commercial and cultural success and still gets references despite being almost thirty years old. Even our own Burna Boy referred to it in his hit song, "Run my race", despite the film being released six years before he was born. http://kizarofaro..com/2013/11/the-return-of-robocop.html

Uyi Iredia: The dullest person being you and Premium Times not me. BTW did uou listen to the recording I posted as proof.I played the recording. Tunde Bakare no dey fail. "I see fear on the path of government and insincerity on the part of the most vociferous critics of the convening of the national conference. Some of these critics are those who wanted it before and because they are now in government don't want it anymore. Their present attitude reminds me of a critic of the government who got into govt. and stopped speaking out against the govt. When asked why he was now quiet, he replied 'my granny taught me not to speak while I'm eating' " |
Ali Baba – Comedian Acknowledged as the ”Oga at the top” of Nigerian comedy, Atuyota Alleluya Akporobomeriere is the catalyst that brought respect and (ahem!) the big bucks into the humour industry, paving the way for the likes of Basketmouth, Julius Agwu, AY and many others making a decent living today off their jokes. Ali Baba was among an amazing troupe of pioneer funny-men that took their jokes as serious business. His early contemporaries in the early nineties were the late Mohammed Danjuma, Igbo Koko, Alarm Blow and Basorge Tariah. He started telling jokes for a fee as a student of the then Bendel State Univerrsity, Ekpoma in 1987 and moved to Lagos for greener pastures in 1990. This writer had the opportunity to watch a then lean Ali Baba dismantle an audience at an open mic session in then Yaba arts hub – Jazzville in 1996. J. Martins who was in Abuja days ago, gave his opinion on the altercation between singer, Wizkid and a follower of his on Instagram. The fan noticed some faulty grammar in a post by the star musician and told him that he needed to "go back to school". Wizkid hit back at the rude poster, by saying - "broke people always have an opinion" The Instagram altercation Super producer/neo-highlife musician, J. Martins addressed Wizkid's comments in an interview on Hot FM 98.3 and had this to say - "J Martins on the show said ‘I’m not taking any side, don’t mean no beef, no disrespect, and no hate but let the truth be told. I don’t believe because you feel you have a few change you didn’t have a few years ago and which you cannot guarantee having in a few years to come then you wake up and look at those people who have cheered you up, loved you, supported your music, bought your CD’s, prayed for you, just because you can lay your hands on some phone and you call them ‘poor’. Fans of genius French House Duo Daft Punk are used to their brilliance from 2001's "One more time" made even more popular with the song's manga anime style video and the robot themed "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" famously sampled by Kanye West. Their latest single "Get Lucky" off their fourth album titled "Random Access Memories" features vocals by Pharrell Williams and was co-written by legendary producer/guitarist Nile Rodgers who also played rhythm guitar on the track. For the uninitiated, Rodgers has been responsible for producing loads of hits since the 1970's with his band Chic, Diana Ross's masterpieces "I'm coming out" and "Upside down" as well as Madonna's signature tracks "Like a virgin" and "Material girl" etc. Pharrell allegedly got involved with the track by meeting both "Daft Punk" members Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter at one of Madonna's parties and practically begging to be given a role, even if it was just to "play the tambourine". Right on! Israeli territory and nationals were marked for an attack by this scum so naturally the cooperation between our security agencies should allow for interrogation by mossad. If the attack had succeeded it would have been blamed on boko haram. |
SLIDE waxie: In order to achieve his 2015 dreams..jonathan can do foolish thingsSanusi has questions to answer my brother. He recently ordered banks to start lodging 50% of all public sector funds with the cbn. Part of the reason he gave was to ensure that politicians don't have too much cash to throw around in 2015. Only to hear that he quietly put 4 billion interest free in an islamic bank in malaysia I think the autonomy of the cbn should be reviewed |
Honestly it was bound to happen. A scenario where banks are sitting on N1.3 Trillion naira in deposits. Instead of lowering the bar and giving more small entrepreneurs loans. The banks are doing lazy mans banking, investing in Treasury bills instead of stimulating more little businesses. The main reason is to limit the cash splash in 2015 elections |
The Central Bank of Nigeria has received knocks from analysts and concerned voices over its soon to be introduced 50% Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) on all public sector funds. The CRR is a system employed to mop up excess liquidity in circulation primarily to control inflation. CBN Governor Lamido Sanusi CBN Governor Lamido Sanusi announced this at the end of a meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) held in late July. He cited among a number of reasons, the fact that banks were receiving the monies at 0% interest and lending back to the government at 13 to 14 percent. However its suspected that this move is also designed to strangulate a stream of funds that government officials may use to prosecute the 2015 elections. The banks in total have about N1.3 Trillion Naira of public sector money. It didnt help matters that these our banks have been sporting such obscene balance sheets while they efficiently screen eager small and medium scale entrepreneurs by raising the risk management parameters that the average joe definitely cannot meet. Financial analysts and eggheads alike have poured scorn on the decision on several fronts some of which are the fact that politicians do not patronise the banking system enough for the measures to limit spending public funds for the 2015 elections, that our romance with the "IMF manual" system of finance may demand the trimming of bank staff numbers due to the reduced balance sheet and hmm... that the Sanusi led MPC meeting had no business tinkering with banking supervision matters in the first place. After a little while in his lab, R. Kelly is back after his 2012 album, "Write me back" with his latest song called "My story" which features rave rapper of the moment 2 Chainz. This hypnotic offering is fresh off his upcoming 12th album predictably titled "Black Panties". Close followers of R may recall that he performed this track at the 2013 BET Awards earlier this year. A bodacious song carried by some tight throbbing guitar play interspersed by some mean percussion that gets your head bobbing. On Monday the 22nd of July 2013, the British Royal Family welcomed their newest member to the world. A strapping male child born to Prince William and wife Kate at St. Mary's Hospital, London. There are a few interesting facts about this 3 day old prince. 1. He is third in line to the throne, leapfrogging his uncle Harry. He will certainly succeed his father to become King George VII. 2. Named just 48 hours after he was born, Prince George's naming is one the fastest ever in his family's history. His father William was named a week after he was born and his grandfather Charles, a month birth. Read more at http://kizarofaro..com/2013/07/meet-his-royal-highness-prince-george.html |
His comeback is lame. I expected something more articulate from that paedophile. I saw El-Rufai this morning signing a petition. Is yerima more muslim than him because he wears flowing robes and sports a scraggly beard |
This is an interesting opinion by a poster on another forum - "I can't believe all the negative reviews I've seen being said about this movie. Pacific Rim is a better movie than it is being lead to believe. People are complaining that the movie is lacking the "human element" and that it us all cliche and terrible. Hello! the movie depicts people in giant mech warriors fighting huge monsters trying to destroy mankind. Its supposed to be cliche. Its a throwback to the old 60's and 70's Japanese monster movies (but with robots!). Pacific Rim is probably going to be my second favorite movie of the year behind star trek. people need to stop being so demanding n serious and let a movie be fun. It was a fun refreshing movie with a unique plot and i enjoyed it thoroughly. Every time a kaiju was getting pounded on i had my gusts in the air whispering "go humanity". A must see ask check it out" http://kizarofaro..com/2013/07/pacific-rim-surprise-hit-of-summer.html |
Many people have been dreaming about this. Visions too are common. That day is almost here |

This is heartbreaking. I'm not going to bother watching it. Why do these studios think its enough to spend many millions on action and cgi. Na wa. This is the reason why I started going for movies by new daring directors. Infact no more blockbusters for me for now |
OP abeg call police for the person wey cook that food. But it has nothing to do with him being a man o. Men actually make better cooks than women even though there are fewer men cooking. |
Following the release of Hamza Al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan, accused of masterminding the killing of Kudirat Abiola, her son, Lekan Abiola, has expressed disappointment over Friday’s Appeal Court judgment, which upturned the death sentence According to reports, the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had earlier on Friday discharged and acquitted the former Chief Security Officer to the late Gen. Sani Abacha (Al-Mustapha) and Shofolahan, an ex-aide to the late Kudirat. “I know that my mum and dad will definitely get justice; maybe not in Nigeria, but I’m sure that Allah will give them justice where they are,” Lekan said. “The Appeal Court only completed the work of other courts before it that have played roles in scuttling the family’s quest for justice in this matter. They finished the job, but they weren’t the ones who started it.” “We had seven or so defendants before now with confessions of the roles they played in the death of my mother; there was Mohammed Abacha, Banabas Jabila aka Sgt. Rogers, James Danbaba, Lateef Shofolahan, Rabo Lawal and others. Everybody said the role they played; the one who did the shooting; the one who drove; the one who arranged for the car that was used when they got to Lagos from Abuja; the people in the room when the order to kill my mother was given. All the seven started the case, but the Supreme Court started the whole thing when it said that Mohammed Abacha had no case to answer.” Read more at http://kizarofaro..com/2013/07/allah-will-give-my-mum-dad-justice.html |
