Nigeria has come a long way from 1974 when General Gowon said that the problem was not money itself but rather how to spend it. Sadly, the way since then has been been all downhill. Back then we spent more on capital projects and infrastructure than on recurrent spending. These days almost 80% of our annual budget goes on salaries, allowances, and overheads (bureaucrat-speak for tea, biscuits, meals, banquets, travel expenses, etc.) We still remember Arunma Oteh’s N850, 000 (£3,437) famed lunch saga, and the N30, 000, 000 (£120,648) she allegedly spent on hotel accommodation in the first eight months of her stint as Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Of course she denied this, saying she spent only one-tenth of that amount on lunch, but surprisingly has kept mum on the accommodation costs. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala Nigeria’s Finance Minister is obviously having sleepless nights thinking about ways to keep the country going without having to declare the need for dreaded austerity measures. Ah, yes! Austerity; the word that rhymes with “recession”, “Greece”, “Spain”, “Tunisia” and “Portugal.” Austerity is the standard response in market economies when the inevitable cycle between boom and bust hits the downslope and governments look to “save costs” – lay off workers, cut expenses, freeze salaries and benefits, and print more money. All as prescribed by the potentates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), most of whom have never managed even an off-license or a neighbourhood kiosk before, let alone a country. The baby-faced assassins of the IMF do not understand that a country in which the government itself and its operating activities create most of GDP cannot get out of a recession by shrinking those selfsame activities. And that any attempt to do so only makes recession bite even harder. No, a recession-hit country should spend more than ever before – but in a more focused manner – on those things that create jobs and increase productivity such as public works, infrastructure and small business incentives. Unfortunately most countries have taken the easy way out and abruptly strangled spending, sending themeselves spiraling deeper into the very recession they sought to avoid in the first place. OJB Jezreel, has already been acknowledged as one of the architects of the huge success of Nigerian urban music today. From his beat-making days in the backroom studios of Surulere to his influence extending to other parts of Lagos in the late nineties when he nurtured and produced upcoming coming acts like Plantashun Boyz, Ruggedman and so many others.http://kizarofaro..com/2013/06/6-songs-you-probably-didnt-know-ojb.html

There've been some negative comments on social media about cameron's past but i dont really hold it against him. For the reasons that 1. he admitted it was wrong and 2. the world was very different back then. Once you were branded a soviet collaborator that was it, the whole of NATO would do anything to squash you. It was the orientation back then. |
APARTHEID SOUTH AFRICA: Nelson Mandela & The Redemption of David Cameron Mandela on my mind. In the 1985 South Africa was red-hot and violence in the black townships was escalating in defiance of the apartheid system then under the regime of PW Botha. In Britain, the ruling Conservative Party was sympathetic to the apartheid state on the lame "grounds" of it being a check on "Soviet backed radicals" it's label for the ANC and related groups. The Conservative party had a young fiery David Cameron who was a top member of the Federation of Conservative students. As common with students, this group pursued Party ideals to the extreme and became notorious for printing "Hang Mandela" posters and wearing similar badges on their clothes. sholay2011: As for me oh, the 'baddest' cop for cinema history (wey I sabi) na DENZEL WASHINGTON as OFFICER ALONZO in TRAINING DAY. OP, go see this movie (with an open mind) and give me feedback.Officer Alonzo na bad guy oooo. I forgot about him. You don give me assignment now. The thing about alonzo is that he a pure street guy and criminal. Dirty Harry is also a street guy but he's not a criminal. Two of them are hard as iron and they like to intimidate people. |
In 1971 Clint Eastwood starred in a gritty crime thriller called "Dirty Harry" as Inspector Harry Callahan. A very very streetwise and unorthodox policeman. The movie was a breakout role for Clint Eastwood who had made a name for himself as the star of spaghetti western classics like "For a few dollars more" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The part of Callahan had been rejected by John Wayne, Paul Newman and Steve McQueen before Eastwood grabbed the role. He transferred his character from the western movies to the urban San Francisco environment and the rest is history. The movie made on a budget of $4 million went to gross $35 million at the box office Read the rest at - http://kizarofaro..co.uk/2013/06/harry-callahan-baddest-cop-in-movie.html?m=1 |
Seun Morihanfen aka Sean Tizzle is one the hottest new acts in naij. There are a couple of reasons why we think he is the next big thing on the scene. The 1st Reason is Sho lee" - This outrageously catchy single is in the words of R.Kelly, "another one for the steppers". The sort of song that you can “bust a move” to and look good, whether you dance like P-Square or Vice-President Namadi Sambo. It’s even got the Yemi Sax treatment. ST's smooth delivery and ace producer DTunes slick beats on the track forged a hit and endeared him to a growing army of fans he's got eating out of his hands. J Martins is easily one of the most recognizable stars in Africa and has been known to pack stadiums in corners as unique as Equitorial Guinea and Congo . He really has come a long way. From playing instruments in church (he is still a choir member of Dominion City Church) to working in his brother's studio in Onitsha, he paid his dues for years in Enugu where he was known for hip hop beats while he was studying in Enugu State University of Technology. After producing a number of hits including many hit tracks for the likes of Waje, P-Square and Bracket he released his breakout single in 2008 titled "Good or bad". Good or bad became a smash hit that changed the musical landscape permanently These are four reasons why it was so special - 1. It Featured Timaya in His Prime - The song featured a red-hot Timaya at a time when he was still fresh off the success of his first album and he totally flogged the beat with memorable lines like "dem dey call me Timaya, na me be Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa" and "na me be the toyo toyo, be like R Kelly paya paya". In my humble opinion, one of his greatest performances till this day. Read the rest at http://kizarofaro..com/2013/06/how-j-martins-good-or-bad-changed-game.html |

The thing that scares me the most about tinubu is the personality cult that surrounds him and his party. It reminds me of fascism |
Like every right minded leftist I knew from the get-go that privatisation especially in nigeria could never work. Obj borrowed a leaf from the russian experience where the likes of abramovich and that yukos oil gang sold the states assets to themselves for pennies and became kings overnight. When you examine the manner in which symbols of our heritage like the 1004 flats and ajaokuta steel project were sold its obvious it wasn't privatisation just plain old fraud |
He doesn't need one. What's he going to put in it drivers license, atm card, Id card. No I guess since |
This track is phat. I have to download it and slam it in my car |
Novel idea but are we ready for it.I would have preferred 10 years residency as pre-qualification |
Meeehn! These northerners are just dead weight and trouble. Can anyone mention one thing they have contributed to this country? |
fstranger5:hey jackass ! I'd call u a weak and poorly bred pipsqueak but your psychological issues are beyond even that. Off to church, will pray 4 u sha. |
When i read these things, my head just keeps spinning. But i wonder why the hammer hasnt fallen on ppl like adigwe of afribank. Not only is he free, he and his crew are buying the bank back through a phony shell outfit |
I am never one to support violence but its comforting to see that the Xtians can give as good as they can get. Its sad to say that the berom people just seem to lack the cojones to kick butt in their own backyard. thats where the lantang people are very different ,those hausa/fulani hitmen would be wiped out if they ever set foot in there to try anything. |

BK BABE Are you a drug user? Your posts reveal that you are delusional and have the capacity to foam at the mouth at the mouth over absolutely banal BS. My guess is either crack or crystal meth. |
@pennywise honestly I dont give a damn about the biz district in the middle of the ocean, I'd advocate for a mega factory or chain of industries to produce hygienic and affordable food products. and YES the location is a big uninformed lofty joke |
@ezeagu you must understand that nigerians are in many cases very greedy and easy to convince. the USA is great because their leadership built the country from the ground up and not the other way around.they perfected power supply, to a large extent food production, bedrock industries such as steel and timber. Our government wants to build the future on luxury apartments and businesses that its officials own and make billions on while they pay the workers crap. Those who think that this thing will turn lagos to dubai need to visit tinapa and the lekki expressway where thousands of uninhabited luxury estates lie in rotting despair. you cant build prosperity on glass and steel alone, Ghana has proved it time and time again |
@pennywise i beg to disagree. Mainstream capitalism has been proved fundamentally flawed as we saw in the recent world-wide depression. Its in the nature of man to be greedy and when it goes unchecked it can be deadly. I have always been a believer in the fact that the government should be a stakeholder or participant in certain sectors such as power generation and distribution, petroleum, transport as well as aviation (in a scenario where there is genuine leadership of course). Where you leave it to private hands you end up it inbridled profiteering and monopolies like our cement industry as well as salt, sugar and so on. |
This just goes to show that the majority of us are either very naive and sheepish (follow follow for the semi-literate) or outright crazy. This project is being floated by bola tinubu with the chagouri's (of the abacha era) and of course with the approval of the lagos state govt that is craving for tax and has lost the plot. I believe some of us know tinubu's recent antecedents. I really dont give a rats a.s.s if its privately funded by banks in china or the himalayas, there are other much more viable, enduring and ultimately profitable ventures to the general population of lagos that fash and his oga could invite that would put food on the common mans table for generations to come. when property developers are the state government's biggest partners then there is something wrong. The environmental impact is another matter Power generation is worth inviting partners for, so too are textile industries, and general manufacturing of all kinds a stuff. Its appalling that so many people here are reducing opposing views to ''enemies of progress'' and related BS. The general mentality on this thread shows why this country has grown poorer and more backward while the rest of africa gets it act together. Till this government can slow down the craze for property and start investing in REAL things that can employ and grow wealth it will be only known in thirty years time for beautification and little else. |
Now thats some B.S! If he can reverse a policy because of hundreds of posts on facebook, he should do something quick about the thousands of facebook messages complaining about power supply and the 16 Billion naira independence party budget. Nonsense!! |
Rastafarians are spiritual followers of the late Emperor Haile Sellassie of Ethiopia who they believe was their messiah who came to liberate their minds from bondage of slavery. They based their faith on the teachings of marcus garvey and when the Ethiopians succeeded in driving out the italian army that invaded ethiopia in world war 2 (with US and british help) they saw it as a sign that he was the lion of judah. But like the previous poster pointed out the ones in nigeria just use the cover to sell weed and launch musical careers |
@brownjay you've got a point but what about in cases where the asshole is probably drunk or just plain daft enough to wait till you take a walk like the poster and try touching her. what would YOU do? |
@onchedu I no go lie i always feel very sorry for men when i see them outside with their girls and their girls are eyeing other men. Its one thing i have never been able to stomach and i'm sure no other guy can take that nonsense |
@kulyie honestly can you fight for your bf? |
