Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you have been around young people with mental disorders you will find 13 reasons quite real. 'Normal' people
try to work out their issues and perhaps make rational decisions however tough or selfish rather than take the easy way out. We see that in Justin, Sherri, even Jessica who by all accounts was actually a 'real' victim make rational albeit tough decisions eventually.
That Hannah encouraged Tyler's bullying proves the point even more so, she had already made up her mind to take her life before making the tapes, therefore all of her thoughts were just about being a victim. The same Hannah did not even spare a thought for her parents whose business was about to go under, it never even occurred to her how devastated they would be. Her parents did not feature in the tapes, she didn't even do them the disservice of leaving them a note.
If you are around Western kids or people with the smallest amount of clinical depression you will understand. You should not watch it like a rational person would, the show in my view is a glimpse into the mind of suicidal folks, all of us have been critical of Hannah, the bottom line is that she was depressed and just needed a reason, if she had not been raped, she would have found another reason. Short of using physical restraint, you can't stop a person who is bent on committing suicide.

thanks for this... That people watch this series with a bias because it is a teen drama is sad. That mindset will rid it of its message and allow room to assume mediocrity. At koice I really do not know what you think will be OK enough for someone to commit suicide, but let me reiterate that most suicidal people are not the ones with the most damning life situations, the reason I pointed out the young girl who killed herself in school for getting bullied last week. Forget what you think or expect,the people that actually do go through with suicide from the view of the audience , have the silliest reasons for doing so. It would have been cliche if Hanna's family was poor and dysfunctional, if she had serious academic difficult. But in reality people like Hanna are the suicidal ones. If you did think they glorified suicide, so after watching the show did you think about killing your self or you thought of how small things can trigger a sensitive person. Hanna is very flawed and messed up and I think the show didn't hide it. You all should try and get the message, our society too needs iy

Highlight wetin? We already know that the real world is a tough place and sometimes people get bullied. We know that sometimes people come from different backgrounds and it can lead to problems and challenges. But check this out... we also know that some people, no matter what we try to do, are going to take their own lives. It’s sad and it’s brutal, yes, but it’s the TRUTH. That's life, deal with it.

Y'know, for a show that claims to be anti-bullying, it sure as hell encouraged bullying. Wondering what I'm on about? Check this out... why would Hannah (Someone who killed herself in part for been bullied) encourage everyone to bully Tyler in return? For someone that killed herself because of bullying, it's super crappy that Hannah should knowingly send Tyler down a similar path, methinks. I mean what kind of message were they trying to send here? Perhaps that bullying is okay as long as a dead girl tells you to do it? Uh-huh.

I understand that the show tried to portray "the real things" teens face on day to day basis but let's face it, at the end of it all, it's all about Hannah. Hannah Hannah Hannah... and comically so.

Bottom line, the show is an abject insult to people with REAL problems like mental issues that lead to them taking their own lives.

To be honest, this teen drama is HORRIBLE. Actually, the show is mostly garbage. I'm blaming peer pressure on this one, else I would never have bothered to waste my precious data on something so generic & vulgar.

Been termed as a teen drama should have been warning enough, but no, I had to let my curiosity get the better of me cuz all my friends were hyping the hell out of it. Now I wish I hadn't.

This show has nothing to offer except terrible old cliches. To make matter worse, none of the characters are likable. Hannah herself was the least likable. For someone we are supposed to feel sympathy for from the beginning (given that she has killed herself), Hannah sure does her best to make sure we feel nothing for her. To be honest, I think she got what she deserved - she played some role (a huge part) in the bad things that lead to her offing herself.

Overall, I think 13 Reasons Why tried to be ambitious but ultimately fell short. For one it glorifies & romanticizes teen suicide or ANY suicide for that matter. And the plotholes.... the plotholes were far too many.

If it gets renewed for the second season (I hope not) then expect more of the same. Tyler might be the vocal point this time though.

@ vorpal and naijababe. I like your analysis of the movie. I do have to add, for most suicide victims they only need one reason to go through with it. Most of them are also attention seekers, the suicide is often their last attempt at getting attention. I do not mean to sound insensitive I am speaking from my experience with a good number of suicidal people. The writers of this movie wasn't trying to justify Hanna's decisions and actions I also do not believe that they agree that all those people did very terrible things to her, they are merely telling her story. They do not also write to make you believe that the counsellor was also to blame. They wrote what Hanna thought. As for Justin I honestly do not think making excuses for him is acceptable, his background is messed up yes, but his choices were his, you can't make excuse for a murderer or robber because he lacks good parenting. So why make excuse for justin . people with wrong background still turn out good, it all depends on choice. The same way Hanna made bad decision that is the same way Justin did, Sheri took responsibility for her actions while Alex decided to shot himself in the head. Choices. This series might seem extreme to us but to them in western world, it is their everyday suicide handbook.

Genre is dark comedy, drama and mystery. Romance doesn't fit well into the series at all, so I think you read wrong.

I recommend the series...13 reasons why.. mostly because of the issues the show addresses, I love shows that are not empty or filled with loop holes.

Big little lies in its on way, addresses the impact of sex in marriages. Madeline finds her husband eddy boring, she longs for passion and excitement. The reason she is still heart broken over Nathan, the reason she cheated on her husband. If you look at most of the couple, you would see how they play the sex card instead of dealing with issues. Like when rheda went to discuss their daughter being bullied with her husband, they ended up having sex in the office. Let me not even talk about Celeste. And of course Jane and her rape issue. I truly love love love this series. Sad it is coming to an end.

Big little lies is the most hilarious series for me...as of now...

I don't know why I feel one of the twins might also be responsible for bullying. I'm sure they might have seen their dad hit their mom in one or two occasions. I love the acting in big little lies, they are all so on point.

Remember they adopted the black child because they lost their own child, people tend to try to fill the space a lost has created by getting something resembling to the what they lost. So yea the circumstance at which they adopted the child is just as real. As for the timing, other episodes showed the challenges they faced raising a black kid in a white family, because it wasn't the commonest sight as at that time. This is us to me is one of the best thing to have happened to television.

What I got from the episode, Delores killed Arnold on his request, Delores is Wyatt, Wyatt was integrated in to her program so that she would capable of somethings that her Delores narrative can't do. Like someone mentioned already, Ford is pro robots, he wasn't always for the host but according to him losing Arnold made him understand the angle Arnold was coming from. William is the MIB, Meave awareness is also a new narrative programmed for her, but I think she was able to work on her own free will, showing this by ignoring her script of following the train, leaving it to go look for her daughter. MIB obsession with the maze was that he hoped that by finding it he would unlock consciousness in the host, he did find the maze with Delores but that didn't unlock anything, the maze was a game designed by Arnold to test the consciousness of the host, Delores specifically. the end while Ford gave his speech Delores proved that she now has her free will by picking the gun and going to shoot Ford, we also understood that ford had unlocked the rest of the host and they can now fight back and hurt humans. My theory: I think the host Ford was working on in his private lab might just be a robot Ford.

Going trough twitter this morning, people seem to have lost their minds over the finale.

Oh, and this might probably be a good time to tell you I've never seen game of thrones (I know I know, you don't have to tell me, I'm a cave man)

lool funny thing is I envy you, the still get to experience and enjoy the awesomeness of game of thrones. for me and Westworld I think the last episode wasn't their best, maybe because they were taking time to answer a lot of questions, though I believe with this episode we await a more wonderful action filled season 2 come 2018.

I have seen the final episode, I kept refreshing o2tvseries all morning today till they uploaded. Many questions were answered and we are still left with plenty questions. I don't want to spoil it for people here who are yet to see it, but yea some of our predictions were correct. this show is OMG!

The other major one right now is that william(the guy looking for the maze with Dolores) is actually the man in black(Ed Harris' character). Which is why I asked the question whether any of you thought the plotline was in reverse chronology or if they were just telling two different timelines simultaneously. I began suspecting reverse chronology after that Lawrence is El Lazo(I hope I spelt that right) reveal. I literally felt violated during that scene.

You might have a point with the reverse chronology thingy, in an episode Delores's father found a picture of a woman in a city that looks nothing like theirs, in a later episode, Logan gave William that same picture, reminding him that he is to be married to his sister, the girl in the picture. So I think the theory of William being the MIB might just be true, maybe his dislike for Delores started when Delores killed Arnold, we are made to believe MIB was friends with Arnold. Anyway Westworld is the bomb sha, I love the opening theme music, reminds me of GOT a little.
