TV/Movies / Re: Is Tstv Rollout The Greatest Flop Of 2017? by jaymantin(m): 7:07pm On Dec 31, 2017
Onechancearmy:
I knew it was a flop right from the beginning.

Nigerians are very gullible and they don't understand how global finance works in cable television content and payment of broadcast rights and royalties so they bought into the TSTV nonsense like a bunch of excited toddlers.

DSTV still holds the broadcast rights for most foreign media content in Nigeria so there was no way TSTV was ever going to deliver on its dubious promises.
.

Not totally the fault of Nigerians, we live in a confused society where all the wrong things has become normal to us. where doing things rightly is considered as not being smart.
TV/Movies / Is Tstv Rollout The Greatest Flop Of 2017? by jaymantin(m): 6:29pm On Dec 31, 2017
The inability of tstv to commence the sales of it's decoders as scheduled happens to disappoint a lot of would be customers, with the company shifting sales commencement date.
Jokes Etc / Common Keywords Prevalent In Nigerian News Headline by jaymantin(m): 11:02am On Oct 03, 2017
I think it's high time Nigerian media retires some of these keywords in their reportage.
You will read something like: react, blasts.

I can only remember those two for now, add yours.

this is futile without the support of telcos operators, all the operators need to do is just blacklist the phone on all network. it will no longer work on any network in Nigeria.

[quote author=BodePolScience post=53542302]lots of embarrassment, I think language or grammar ought not to trouble us as correct pronunciation doesn't really matter, what matters the most is efficient communication. We have the US, Austria and British pronunciations so why should we be bothered with lots of rules and seemingly inconsistencies inherent in language.

True bro, just check pronunciation of the word DIARY....you will see that one is British while the other is American.

Na only for naija we dey carry English for head forgetting the real info

Politics / Re: Nigerian Army General Escapes Lynching By Hungry Soldiers by jaymantin(m): 1:49pm On Dec 18, 2016
nextprince:

Bro, u don't know how some soldiers behave. There are situations when movement of logistics items (food inclusive) poses a lot of danger and these soldiers are fully aware but rather than taking it the way it comes, u see them making mountains out of mole hills and because of this democracy (which we are not matured for) u will see many people who know nothing about the situation taking to social media spewing all manners of rubbish.
Okay, just look at the case in point, if things were normal, will food be transported by air rather than roads? And the GOC himself had to accompany the food. Why do u think a whole General should accompany food items meant for soldiers under normal situation? Bro, there are things that are not just right.
If a proper court Martial were to be held and appropriate punishment awarded, they will start behaving like orphans.
Note, I'm not justifying the situation of going for days in battle front without food but there a times when u can't help it.
I'm not a military personnel but I have had interactions with many disciplined soldiers who had gone for several peace-keeping missions both within and outside Nigeria.
Some of these personnel lack the basics of professionalism.

Inasmuch as you said you interacted very well with those that have gone to peace keeping operations, I bet u didn't ask them what makes them to excell, even our so called corrupt policemen do perform excellently well when they go for outside operations.
Try visit most of the barracks we have around, then you will see situations for yourself...inasmuch as they have their bad side, you can never compare the military training and cost of training an ordinary recruit in a developed world and the prize on their head to what we have in Nigeria

lafean20:
The species we have in Nigeria are different from the imported ones...dats y...and because here in Nigeria we don't know how to xplore different variety of plants, we will keep eating sour green and yellow oranges

Don't really think so, the orange we have is still the pure unadulterated one, unlike some if these imported ones which would have gone through hybridization or cross breeding. Don't also forget preservatives can also be added..you can Google how long some of the apples we do eat has been preserved.

Politics / NNPC Starts Refunding $1.48bn To Federation Account – Diezani by jaymantin(m): 5:34pm On Apr 22, 2015
Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke
The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Wednesday disclosed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has started refunding $1.48bn into the Federation Account as recommended by an audit firm, PriceWaterHouse Coopers.

She however did not disclose how much has so far been refunded by the corporation.

She also denied reports that she was seeking the assistance of some highly-placed persons in other to get soft landing from the incoming administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Alison-Madueke spoke with State House correspondents at the end of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It will be recalled that the Federation Account Allocation Committee on Monday night constituted a committee to find out the reasons for the delay in the refund of the sum.

PriceWaterHouse Coopers had in its forensic audit report of the corporation recommended that the NNPC should refund the amount to the Federation Account.

The firm was last year hired to carry out the audit following an allegation by the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, that $20bn was not remitted to the Federation Account by the NNPC.

PWC had stated in the report that while the total gross revenue generated from crude oil lifting was $69.34bn between January 2012 and July 2013 and not $67bn as earlier stated by the Senate Reconciliation Committee, what was remitted to the Federation Account was $50.81bn and not $47bn.

The audit report revealed that $28.22bn was the value of domestic crude oil allocated to the NNPC, adding that total amount spent on subsidy for Premium Motor Spirit was $5.32bn.

Alison-Madueke however explained that the unremitted fund was owed by NPDC for a block that had been assigned from NNPC to NPDC.

She said, “The PriceWaterHouse Coopers forensic audit that was done a few weeks ago, in its recommendation mentioned that $1.48bn was owed by NPDC for a block that had hitherto been assigned from the NNPC to NPDC which is its subsidiary.

“They felt that the right process would be that NPDC will refund that money to the Federation Account. NPDC has apparently started those refunds and it is also in discussion with NNPC and DPR on same. So the refund has actually begun.”

While saying that the payment was being done under her directives, she insisted that the sum was not missing but transferred by the NNPC to NPDC which is a subsidiary.
