*Kails*: @bold Of course and even since the abolition of slavery African Americans are able to mix more freely with whom they choose which obviously adds new characteristics to the gene pool that were not there during slavery. |
*Kails*:Between 10 & 12% European Admixture is usually quite typical for blacks of the diaspora. This tends to be the case regardless of how dark an individuals skin complexion is. Remember African genes are usually dominant over that of other racial groups. So it would only take a couple of generations before the mix is no longer visible. I happen to know a few Jamaican people who are half East Indian/Black. If they do not tell you, there would be no way of knowing!! Not even a hint of soft hair texture |
*Kails*:Well it could always be possible, though Arabic is not typical ancestry for African Americans. But who knows maybe some of the enslaved Africans taken to the US had some middle eastern ancestry. This is the case for the Lemba tribe of Zimbabwe. |
Fulaman198: No they are not, they are considered Melanasian, they are Pacific Islanders/Asian.You are correct. Though they appear to have a negro Phenotype their genetics are completely different to that of Africans |
Do I consider Somalis Black? Well I think the question should be. Is P Diddy Somali? ![]() |
Mrs.Chima:I can see what you mean. Well the Arabs have been scientifically classified as Caucasian. So maybe that explains his resemblance with them, having paternal white ancestry. |
*Kails*:@ Bold Yes, race is actually more than skin deep. There are skeletal differences too. Going by Tupac's features I can see that there had been some recent admixture in his family even though he was not very light skinned. |
*Kails*:Maybe a while back. When I was talking about what can make a population distinct for other related groups. Such as the Caribbean diaspora possessing a certain group of mutations which gives us a genetic signature. When are you going to jump back on the patois thread. Don't start me up and then leave me hanging! ![]() |
^^^ Wow, that is the closest resemblance I've seen in a long time. . Can he rap? ![]() |
kandiikane: To gain? I mean why can't they move to help and build rather than go there to gain. If all the blacks in the west decided to use the energy and power to acquire rights in the west why can't they use that same energy and passion to build Africa. I mean why worry about getting stuff outside when you can get more at home.Wow, It is refreshing to find a like minded person. Bless you ![]() |
MamiWata: The amount of energy the Somali puts into this site leaves me no doubt that he/she is mentally ill.Yes either that or just pure hatred. Hatred is a consuming emotion. |
Horus:Thank you for the Video Horus |
AnOlderAmerican: Strange JayVarley because my family, Wayland and Vanessa, Timmy, Karla, and Kathy visit Jamaica every year and love the Jamaican culture...guess you're just a rare yardie.Well I'm only half "Yardie" But still Caribbean. My Fathers side are from Barbados. ![]() |
AnOlderAmerican: Very mature. Now who is resorting to stereotyping and insults. You seem emotionally invested JayVarley. SMH. I personally do not believe that the bulk of slaves brought to the Americas were IGBOS, maybe to the States of Georgia, South and North Carolina Virginia, Kentucky, and Maryland, particularly the Eastern Shores, but, Yorubas were strong in the Caribbean, too. There are black Hondurans, Mexicans, Panamanians, Colombians, Peruvians, from many tribes of west and central Africa. I simply disapprove of the IGBO bashing. I love the Igbo and Edo people.Ok well maybe you should read some of the derogatory things KING "IGBO" FRANCIS has said about African Americans your opinion of him might be altered slightly ![]() I am hardly "emotionally invested" at all. I'm just a strong personality ![]() I have nothing against IGBO'S they have a strong culture and sense of identity. Something that many people of the Caribbean also posses. I cannot say that I love a particular tribe or people. I may like individuals if they hold certain qualities I admire, but to extend my love to a whole tribe or ethnicity whom I do not know personally does not seem feasible for me. |
