what's the population of Belgium, Finland, Netherlands, Croatia, etc?
you shouldnt judge like that, its just like saying Hausas of about 40m is a majority in a country like China with over a billion population...ofcourse they will be minority!

I honestly don't know but I think Igbo and Yoruba should come first before Hausa.

For me being realistic it will go in this order:

1. Hausa

2. Igbo

3. Yoruba

4. Ijaw

5. Kanuri

what's your take?
No room for tribal entry!
but you all agree that the Igbos has more population than the Yorubas?

That's a huge number, that's the population of Djibouti, Mauritius and Swaziland combined.
doesn't matter bro, you've got to rank with respect to the total population and tribes in the country, even Iceland isn't upto 400k in population!

The most populated in a country like Nigeria is a curse. The most populated are the poorest, less educated and most violent.

So the population has become a curse to Nigeria.
don't go tribal bro, thats not what the OP asked

that wrong population figure? grin

I read a book about them last time and was shocked to see their numbers and spread. They have the number to produce governor and deputy in kogi state. Roughly 60% of the population. Kogi is falsely seen as 4 million+
(they're more than though). So, igala are estimated to be 3 million now.

I pity minority tribes in Nigeria.
3million is not a big population to make the top 5 in Nigeria with the population of about 180m

igala is a majority among the minorities. Among the minority tribes, igala has the trait of the igbo people - they travel alot; they can stay anywhere.

The way I see them outside their state, sometimes, I feel you won't find them at home. By the time you visit their region, you'd see them as if no one left the land.

I told someone that if igala were to be in benue by now, Tiv for don see as e de be. Those ones won't let tiv rule them; it will be a shifting or zoning arrangements, unlike what obtains between them and the idoma right now.

The '79 population census wasn't fair to the igalas, hence the misconception that ijaw and tiv have the imaginary number.

If you check their ancestral or tonal link to the igbo, Yoruba, itsekiri , jikun, you'd know they have the numbers.

Minorities are not treated right by the majorities in Nigeria, but some minorities suffer this more.
nice analysis but i dissagree with the fact that igalas are populous than Tivs of benue state...even Ibibio is bigger than igala

Education / Microsoft Partners With IAUE by Jboyossai(m): 12:48pm On Mar 31, 2016
Global technology giant Microsoft has indicated interest to partner with IAUEto improve and strengthen the educational programmes of the university.
Microsoft Consumer Channels Group Director Mr. Mark Ihimoyan gave this indication when he paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Professor Joseph Kinanee at his office on Wednesday 23rd March 2016.
Mr Ihimoyan who pointed out that Microsoft has moved from archaic technology to cutting edge system through its incessant innovations remarked that the 21st century modern day students needs to be creative and relevant as a professional. The educational and learning experiences he continued would be transformed with innovations and made interesting to help empower, develop skills and create a sustained economic opportunities for the students.
The Microsoft Director who noted that IAUE was blessed to have a visionary leader like Professor Joseph Kinanee, stressed that they were ready to start the IT Academy programme with Microsoft certification and make IAUE a bench mark for a global standard that can be referenced.
Responding the Vice-Chancellor Professor Joseph Kinanee noted that the university had gotten computers and software from Microsoft before now. He emphasized that the dream of State Government was to ensure that IAUE trained students in B.Sc. Ed and B. Sc Computer Science.
The Vice-Chancellor hinted that although the university was one of education it would diversify and welcomed the proposal for Microsoft personnel to train IAUE Staff in modern technology. He also said that IAUE would gladly partner with Microsoft in its effort to support the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as well as maintain it adding that maintenance culture was key if much was to be achieved.
Professor Kinanee informed the Director that IAUE was preparing for accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and needed e-library in each department. He solicited for support to ensure that the programmes of the university attained full accreditation.
Also speaking the university librarian Dr. Boma Obi observed that the university e-library was functional and not a check list. She called for effective training at the barest minimum cost as staff would be interested in their training which she noted must not necessarily be self based. Dr. Obi opined that some staff were immigrants to the ICT world and needed personal training.
Microsoft is the world’s leading producer of computer software and one of the most formidable and influential providers of information technology.
It was founded April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquergue New Mexico. Some of its best selling products include the Microsoft windows operating system, Microsoft office suite of productivity software and many other software services, devices and solutions.
