I can understand training (young employees are easier and faster to train), but what other reason(s) do companies have to stipulate a particular age for applications? I ask because I know some talented persons who will miss out from majority of job vacancies because of this age debacle.

Maybe becos young and not-so-experienced employees are easier for bosses to control.They simply do as they are told and ask fewer questions... older and maybe more experienced employees might like to stay in control as much as possible and not want to be bossed around.
