hairyman:Differential or transmission? For transmission, yes it does. It's a sealed transmission and is said to last the lifetime of the car according to the manufacturer, but not changing the transmission oil at every 50,000 miles would shorten the lifetime. For the differential, it's a front front wheel drive car and the differential is joined with the transmission to make it a single unit unlike rear wheel drive or multiple drive wheel cars that have a separate differential and transfer case that should be serviced and lubed separately. |

Emekayoung:If you're in Lagos, call 07089030689 for a scan and possible fix. But for the sake of those reading, so many things could have gone wrong from the accident to the 1 month it spent at the repair shop. 1. Vacuum leaks would disrupt the car's performance and cause a rough idle. 2. Evaporator leaks. This would be difficult to diagnose without a smoke machine and give similar faults as vacuum leaks. 3. Camshaft sensor faults. A faulty camshaft sensor will give similar condition you're experiencing and would also make the car go off or go into limp mode depending on how sever the fault is. 4. Poor ground connection. A bad ground would give off several electrical faults including poor idling. 5. Failing fuel pump or dirty fuel system. And the list goes on and on. Your best bet as advised is getting the car scanned and properly diagnosed. 1 Like |

Sirchiboy:As suggested, get the car scanned. Check if your brakes are binding. Check for low tyre pressures. Inspect and clean your air filter. Check if you have a manual AC compressor. Finally inspect the tip of your exhaust, it will tell if your car is burning just petrol, or oil as well to know the state of the engine. |

Emekayoung:By steam I believe you meant the car is not idling fine or misfires at idle. If that's it, then I'd suggest you get the car scanned. |

Nomerci:I hope you understood what you wrote out as your complains? A bad valve stem seal would make the car emit smoke under the following conditions 1. When you start the car after parking it for a long time. Oil seeps into the combustion chamber from the bad seal and is burnt out. 2. When the car has idled for long and you attempt to drive off. You will see a puff of smoke which will disappear after a while and repeats itself when placed under similar condition. 3. When you attempt overtaking. Just like the example above, your engine will puff out smoke from the tail pipe. What you complained was bluish smoke when you rev and hold the RPM. That is a telltale sign of a worn out piston rings, and possibly clearance within the cylinder wall. So sir/ma, the bitter truth be say that your engine is likely on it's way out. Regardless of what the issue is, you'll need to tear down into the engine to get it fixed. |

ugreat:Your car is most likely sluggish because of the shift solenoid code. For the timing codes, you might need to confirm the timing is right and while at it check to see if your cam sprocket has been tampered with. |

Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by jceesquare(m): 8:45pm On Feb 11 |
vivalavida:What you had was possibly an intermittent fault, or you had dirt partially clogging the system that made it threw the fault code. The fact that you cleared the code and the light disappeared could be a mere coincidence. If the faults were a current issue, it will come back after a short drive or immediately and if it's not the light will go off on it's own without clearing. Error codes are to direct the technician on what to check. Clearing it does not fix the issue. 1 Like |

Bullfallo:The reverse is the case. When you have lesser air going into the car, the ECU compensates for the distorted air to fuel ratio and pumps in more fuel to compensate for it. So if you restrict the flow, your car will burn more fuel and not save it. Just like the scenery I painted earlier, you'll struggle running with nose mask on and forced to breath through your nose only. You'll have lean mixture when you have more air and less fuel. 1 Like |
