Hello house.
Please I have an issue with my car . I drive a Corolla 2006 . Some months back I changed my full light to this florecent light without no issues . Some days ago I noticed at night that there was a blue light showing on my dashboard which is the full light indicator on the dashboard so I called my rewire and I have to disconnect the light of that itā€™s because of the light . So I disconnected the light but my car isnā€™t starting so I have to get my neighbors batter to power the car and put my own there ever since then my car hasnā€™t start properly and the rpm is low when the car start are I turtle the car the car stop back . Please how what can be the cause and how can I rectify this .
Remote diagnosis would be difficult here.
Take it to a good technician to diagnose and undo whatever was done to it.

Very expensive battery removal. I went through hell before I got a replacement BCM. Most used BCMs in Ladipo are dead.
I can relate.

I had reasons to remove the battery and did not know the windshield cowl was meant to be sealed after battery removal.

Water seeped in from there and damaged the BCM.

That's an expensive battery removal.
Worse if battery was taken out to jumpstart another car.

Car Talk / Re: My Experience With Reinstalling My Car's Thermostat And Its Fuel Economy Part 1 by jceesquare(m): 7:52am On Apr 09
remi4ever:
Hello, everyone. I have read numerous articles here and on other forums regarding thermostats and car cooling systems.

Recently, I purchased a 2009 Honda Inspire/Accord 2.0L, which has slight differences from both models, and I want to share my experience.

Upon acquiring the car, I noticed that the O2 sensor was faulty. Despite this, the car is exceptionally clean; the previous owner bought it brand new in 2010, and both the engine bay and interior still look fresh. Additionally, the wiring remains untouched.

Interestingly, I discovered that the thermostat had been removed, so I inquired with the previous owner. He mentioned that his mechanic removed it, citing typical weather concerns. When I asked if the car had a history of overheating, he assured me it had never happened.

Nevertheless, I decided to install the thermostat.

Initially, I tested it with hot water to ensure it was functioning correctly. However, I then realized that the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) was faulty, providing inaccurate readings. Consequently, I replaced it.

I suspect the faulty CTS may have been the reason for the previous removal of the thermostat.

After installing the thermostat and restoring the cooling system to its factory default by removing the fan bypass, everything seemed to be working properly.

It's worth noting that I hadn't encountered any Check Engine Light (CEL) issues since replacing the O2 sensor. However, a day later, the CEL illuminated, but unfortunately, my Bluetooth scanner failed, leaving me uneasy.

Additionally, during this period, I had acquired an additional 22 liters of fuel to monitor fuel economy. I was pleased to observe that when the coolant temperature reached 105 degrees Celsius, the fan activated, and it turned off when the temperature dropped to 98 degrees Celsius. This appeared to be the expected behavior.

In summary, I covered a total of 155 miles, and upon scanning, I discovered that the newly acquired O2 sensor had been damaged. Despite this setback, with the cooling system intact, I managed to achieve a fuel economy of 11.63 km/L even without the functioning O2 sensor.

I plan to acquire another O2 sensor today.

To conclude, I want to emphasize that anyone suggesting the removal of a thermostat should be disregarded. The internal temperature of your engine is not determined by the climate but rather by its operation. Engine temperature can be twice as hot as the weather on a very sunny day. It's essential to diagnose and address the root cause of any overheating issues.

I want to express my gratitude to all those who advocate against removing the thermostat.

Kingreign, gazzuzz, jceesquare, nurey

First test with O2 sensor and fan bypass 145miles

Second test with no O2 sensor but proper cooling system. 155 miles

Same driving condition, mileage was recorded immediately reserve light came on. Note worthy, I used more AC during the second test.
Congratulations on your new car.

Thanks for asking.
The background story is that it is this same Hardex that the customer has been using for about a year plus. Upon first engagement with the customer, I asked them which oil they use in their Camry 2AZ engine (I noticed this particular engine wasn't burning oil, contrary what we know of most 2AZ engine), he said they use Hardex for both cars, then I told him to maintain using the oil. In fact, I've heard from other colleagues that the oil is good, just haven't tried it yet.

When the customer gave me the car for other tune-ups, I insisted that I won't change the oil because I can't find that particular brand around me. This time, it was the camry I worked on. After a month plus of delivering the car, they decided to change oil for both cars at once on the SAME day by the SAME mechanic they've been using in their area from the SAME vendor for oil and filter.
Now, a week after the oil change, he called me on phone to tell me that he heard some weird sound when started the camry that morning. I was curious, I burnt my fuel, got to his house and replicated the problem. This is NOT the regular cold start rattling sound of vvt gear and the sound last for up to a minute before it disappears. No oil light, checked vvt solenoid and it looked dirty. I cleaned it and reinstalled. Problem disappeared only for a few days. I came back again, cleaned the vvt filter screen behind the engine(it wasn't even dirty). It persisted!
Meanwhile, that same period, his wife driving the Acura started complaining that sometimes after she starts the car the oil light stay for some seconds before it goes off. Then there was this warning on the gauge cluster (oil pressure low). I removed the oil pressure sensor/switch, cleaned it and put it back. Problem disappeared for a few days just like the camry. I adviced them to do another oil change for both cars, that this coincidence is just weird. They said they couldn't afford to, so I told them to at LEAST change the filters and let's monitor and see. They didn't do that! A few weeks from that time, the camry engine knocked when the man was driving to work. Some car owners are not observant or are careless. Even when the car was making that grinding noise continously, the man decided to still drive to work like that. His wife warned him not to, but he persisted. Now, on the same day after the deed was done, he called me to seek towing assistance. He also sent me video to confirm the "sound" of the engine. It was obviously a knocking sound. He had sent same video to his wife and she confirmed that the engine was knocked even before he sought my assistance. Now, the wife being a bit more experienced than him with car repairs, called me and asked me to inquire price of engine and gear(the gear to had shifting concerns, we already had plans to replace it, faulty ABS module destroyed the gear because they drove it for months without speedo readings, a lot of crazy things happening on the dash back then which I helped them rectify). As I was giving the wife feedback on the engine price while on phone, I heard her saying that the engine oil light for the Acura was blinking when she just started the car now. I told her to immediately shut it off and seek the attention of a nearby mech. She finally agreed that she will go aggressive with this situation and went ahead to change the oil and filter. Guess what, all the oil related problems for the Acura disappeared. Funny thing is, she used the same oil but from another vendor.
The camry ended up being towed to my workshop, weeks after I had time for it, we replaced the spun bearings, cut the crankshaft without opening the top cylinder. Everything was done from below. The gear too, we overhauled it because they couldn't buy toks for 450k back then. We restored it for 250k plus about 200k for the engine. The car has been on the road for more than 2 months now. They've not called me to lay any complain except to plan for next oil change.

So here's the deal, mechanics/car owners come here to explain their experiences with cars to the best of their ability in order to give or seek assistance, if you just show up to disregard all they've said just because you feel you're an authority in the car repair industry, it completely nullifies the whole point of the forum. People can make mistake, yes! When they do, call to their attention where the mistake/error is in order to protect other forum members from being misled. But if all one looks out for is to downplay the input of his fellow petrol heads, then it completely negates the need for a thread like this. I don't mean any disrespect to anyone for saying this, its just something noteworthy in order to ensure that the original purpose of a thread is sustained.

Thank you,

#AutoJando

No one is an authority in car repairs. Not even the manufacturers because they also recall their products and improve on their errors.

NB:I don't know much about auto terminologies
Please i drive a Nissan Sunny ex saloon 2004 manual transmission. It happened that i was driving recently then i stopped in traffic, but i noticed my car was doing as if it was going to go off which prompted me to keep pressing the throttle just to keep the engine working.Thinking it was fuel,i bought more fuel then hit the road, this time around the car started jerking which i managed to drive it home.Later i took it to a mechanic's place to maybe increase what i understood as "SLOW",a move that got my car system destabilized completely because he first asked me to change my spark plugs, which i did,yet the problem persists,he loosen what he called Airflow meter,he loosen throttle cable.Once he starts the car,it will start normally and immediately the sound will reduce like the car will go off then picks up again.Since he did not get what's wrong,he disconnected a sensor telling me it the airflow meters that are beginning to go bad, immediately he disconnected the airflow meter above the compressor, the check engine sign came up.
To shorten the whole story, another mechanic looked at it yesterday who asked me to change fuel pump, buy injector cleaner,i did all these, yet no changes,he checked the sensors. While trying to check the crankshaft sensor located in a very difficult part of the engine, the car would not start again, when he tried to key in the sensor back as he was unable to remove it,the sensor broke,Now the sensor has been removed by a panel beater and i sent money for another one, when the car would not start he scanned it and he got a Crankshaft sensor error,Please what can you suggest with this whole story and experience of mine because this car is one car that does not give me issue but unfortunately am experiencing this at the moment.
Kindly help,thanks.
So why did you wait till after they've damaged the car before scanning it?
You should have done that from beginning.
Kindly post scan codes for remote diagnosis.

This Hardex, I don't want to call out a whole company wrongly. I had a customer who did oil change with this brand on his 2 cars: Acura MDX 2008 and Toyota Camry 2009. It will be unebelievable if I tell you that the Camry's engine got knocked, on the same day, the Acura's oil light too was blinking. Luckily I was on call with his wife(she drives the Acura) when this incident occured. I instructed her to quickly shut off the car and seek a mechanic that I can guide remotely. The oil and the filter were changed and that was all. For the camry, I ended up having to rebuild the engine for almost 300k, plus the gear was slipping too, had to fix that. 450k later, the car was back on the road. Toks engine and gearbox was like 1.1m then

So back to the topic, I advice you go back to what we knew. Mobil is fine IF you buy from a Mobil filling station. But the right grade!

#AutoJando
So was it the Hardex that killed the engine and cause the slip?
Just curious to know.
And how if it's the culprit.

An electrician came yesterday and dig out one transparent fuseā€”sort of big, joined wire to it and inserted it back. From there, light entered the car but it won't still start.

At first, it behaved like the problem was as a result of a low battery but even after changing it to a good one, the car still behaved same way. Lastly, he suggested we get a mechanic to try to turn the engine from the side and see if it's going to be free and if it turns, then the problem, according to him, will be the Kickstarter.

So, that's the situation for now.
What's stopping him from rolling the engine from the starter?
Why wait for the mechanic?

Now what I usually do is to remove the battery head when ever I park it, just recently I noticed it runs down too even after removing the battery head for long.

What could be the problem:
- not charging very well?
- something drains the battery in the car or ?
- the battery not good again?

Pls I need your reply, it has been frustrating me since last weak

Mr Gazzuzz and everyone I salute you all.

Please, I noticed that my Toyota Highlander 2016 jerks when driving for a long distance.
For instance, yesterday, I was driving from Lagos to Ekiti. The drive was smooth until I pass Ibadan. The car began to jerk and make it difficult to overtake vehicles on occasion. It jerks frequently and stops for a little before continuing again. I noticed that when this happens, the rpm doesn't move. When I press the gas pedal, it doesn't really have any effect on the rpm and the vehicle won't respond except for the engine.
I've changed the fuel pump twice, but this doesn't fix it. No check engine light is displayed at all.
This has been happening for a long time, especially when I travel to long distances. It stops when the engine gets cold and restarts when traveling a distance.
Did you replace pump with complete pump and assembly?
You might want to consider cleaning your tank too.

The car in question is a Honda Accord 04.
You've been asked to check your fuse.
But that's only applicable if you or your rewire has not breeched the fuse with thick wires. If your fuse (main fuse especially) has been customised, then you'll have to kiss your ECU and maybe harness goodbye depending on the severity of the damage.

I drive a 2011 Toyota Camry 4 plug and Venza Engine, which I bought as Direct Belgium last year December. Fast forward to this year January to be precise. After parking my car for an hour, I tried starting it I notice that my speedometer stopped reading, my temperature gauge stopped reading, my Ac stopped working, Abs light came up, brake light came up.
I called an electrician that checked all fuse, Abs module and the brainbox no fault was detected the worst of it was that it was not communicating with a system scanner it was stating unable to communicate . So I decided to drive to Anambra state where I reside. Someone directed me to an electrician in Onitsha. On my way to Anambra state, I noticed that my car android music player tripped off and never came up.
When. I got to the electrician at onitsha I explained everything to him after which we bargained for his workmanship. So he started fixing the car while he was on it he said I shouldnā€™t stand close to him, he insisted I should go and sit down which I did. Within 30 minutes he had fixed the car same car that couldnā€™t be fixed for a month. I asked him what the problem was he was relunctant in telling me.
So I decided to buy a new android music player, I noticed that whenever I am driving it will turn off and on even when I am not driving. I got frustrated called another electrician recently to check why it is tripping off and on. I also noticed my door light is fluctuating and roof light slightly fluctuating.
When the electrician came I loosed the android music player from the dashboard he metered and we noticed that the current in the car is fluctuating and not stable. He unplugged and checked the terminals connected to my battery and noticed a current fluctuation. He concluded the alternator is not functioning well and needs to be changed to get a stable current. I noticed whenever my car is in idle the rpm clock will be slightly going up and down but not all the time.
Please my fellow Nairaland i need your advice I had to be detailed enough so you guys can advice me. Why is my car not having stable current could it be the alternator. Note my battery is very sound
Could be loose electrical connections in the fuse box, battery terminals or modules.
It's also possible you bought a flooded car as posted above.

There is little or no smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. Haven't noticed oil leakage either. Scanned with OBD tool and couldn't find any codes either.

Other symptom includes
1. Car shakes when on reverse gear
2. Drags during initial acceleration.
3. Consumes a bit more fuel than it should.

Please can someone assist me.
Thanks
That little smoke is enough to cause your oil to drop low.
