Es 350 doesn't have a dipstick, it's one of the things I hate about the car
There's a way you perform an oil level check which is a mixture of checking the temperature with a live scan, or hot-wiring the system to service mode and draining out the excess oil while engine is running.

Hello Bosses and Gurus in the house, i need your help to get my car back alive an INFINITI FX45 2006. I got into an accident and had a few parts changed as well as body work mainly. After all the recognised damaged parts has been changed it became very sluggish and nothing even happens no matter how hard or log you hit the gas pedal. I had it scanned and the guy only told me something about the VB (Sensor), Airflow meter(Sensor) and Injector Mouth Sensor (not sure what this is or if i am correct) which was changed as part of the damaged parts. After a lot of research i figured there is something called Limp Mode and may be the issue. I dont have the codes and the electrician i called over to Scan told me he cant remember the exact codes so i may have to have it scanned again to get exact codes. I live in Lagos (Mainland) and would like to get recommendations and advises as well as a good Electrician / Mechanic. I've spent a lot on this car to give me issues now. Please help bosses.
Where on the mainland do you stay?

..if you read properly I stated from the beginning if it was manual or automatic.. and made suggestions to both fact.. and pinned point to the fact that it needs a proper diagnosis if all is checked mate...
Read your initial post and your response well.
If you understand how a CVT works then you'll know it does not have gears like regular automatic transmission and would not have erratic shifting of gears or slippage while shifting to another gear. You'd also know how not to always lift informations off the internet and paste all the time.

Requestmechanic:

There are a couple of possible reasons why your 2007 Nissan Qashqai isn't changing gears while driving:

1. Clutch Issues (For Manual Transmission):

If your Qashqai has a manual transmission, the problem could be clutch related. Here are some possibilities:
Worn Clutch Disc: Over time, the clutch disc wears down, reducing its ability to grip the flywheel and transfer power to the wheels. This can cause the engine to rev high without accelerating the vehicle effectively.
Faulty Clutch Cable/Hydraulics: The clutch cable (or hydraulic system in newer models) transmits pressure from the pedal to disengage the clutch. If the cable is frayed or the hydraulics malfunction, you might not be fully disengaging the clutch, preventing gear changes.

2. Automatic Transmission Problems:
If your Qashqai has an automatic transmission, the issue could be internal to the gearbox:
Low Transmission Fluid: Automatic transmissions rely on fluid to operate smoothly. Low fluid levels can lead to slipping and difficulty changing gears
Faulty Solenoids or Sensors: Solenoids and sensors regulate the flow of fluid within the transmission to control gear changes. A malfunctioning solenoid or sensor could send incorrect signals, causing erratic shifting or inability to change gears.
Internal Transmission Wear: In severe cases, internal components within the automatic transmission might be worn or damaged, causing difficulty changing gears. These are issues an expert should be able to checkmate, but if the mechanic can't check these out he should run a scan to pin point the problem.. To get connected to an automobile specialist closer to you go to requestmechanic.com and click on request now circled in red

Copy and paste won't make you realise the car comes with a CVT transmission and not the regular automatic transmission.

Hey!!!
I'm in trouble oo.
I took my 08 es350 to a mechanic a friend recommended for shockpad change
I instructed he also changed the powersteering fluid as I noticed it gets a faint whinny sound when I drive for long... We went to drink beer, only to come back and this mechanic poured visco2000 into my powersteering reservoir. Saying it's good and works well.
Abeg what do I do now? I've driven it for 2 days now but I'm worried
Nothing to fear for here. Your power steering pump was on its way out and that's why he added a thicker oil to help increase the viscosity for the pump to pump the oil around.
All you need to do is to replace the pump with original one, and flush the steering rack with fresh power steering oil.

Subject: Issues with My Car - Need Diagnosis and Repair

Car Type: 2007 Toyota Camry, 4 Plug Engine

I am reaching out regarding some concerning issues I've been experiencing with my car recently. I believe there may be multiple underlying problems contributing to its current state, and I would greatly appreciate your expertise in diagnosing and addressing these issues.

Here are the symptoms I've observed:

Reduced Coolant: The coolant seems to be drying off as I constantly need to refill and there is no visible leak

White Smoke: White smoke comes out of the exhaust

After driving for some time, the coolant in the reservoir tank starts to 'boil' and pour out, I am aware that is due to air entering the coolant

I bringing this here because the first mechanic I called adviced to change the Engine Gasket which required me to re-surface the engine, the Gasket was changed but the issue still persists

The second mechanic I got was quoting 300,000 for me (almost the cost of a new engine)

Given these symptoms, I understand that pinpointing the exact cause of the issues may require a comprehensive inspection and diagnostic process. However, can someone here point me in the right direction on where I need to focus on?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
1st repair was done by a quack.
Remote diagnosis would be difficult. But as you rightly pointed out, you have combustion gases going into the cooling system and that explains the white smoke and coolant boiling over.
You'll need a professional to diagnose and repair the car for you as remote diagnosis would be impossible considering the fact that the engine had been opened before.
Kindly call 07089030689 if you need further assistance.

Cryomancer:

Just to give an update on this issue.

I visited my mechanic today and all issues were attended to and all error codes cleared itself without using the scanner to clear it and no single notification light on dashboard.

Car drove smoothly and quieter.... Few meters away from home, I decided to buy fuel at NNPC, after purchase and driving out car started same issue again and went off in the middle of the road, I started it again and it was struggling to accelerate.

I parked and decided to scan and it brought back the knock Sensor bank 1 error code P0325, P0011, P0404 again just like it did before I went to fix it.

Issues:
-Car keeps struggling to accelerate, and I have to press the gas pedal to the floor to even gain 40kmph

- Exhaust keeps vibrating like it's struggling to cough out something

- increased Heat coming from below the dashboard region.

Please I need an advise on this please. I spent so much already today just to get the issue fixed but I'm still faced with same challenge.

CC: Bullfallo , jceesquare
What car is this?
Check the knock sensor wires, and Knock sensor itself.
If bad, fix or replace as the case may be.
Kindly say what car it is for the EGR code.

The sound was not there when the stretched chain was in use. It started after the new chain was installed. If the stretched chain caused a problem, I feel the problem should be obvious with the bad chain. Why start when the good chain was installed.
I don't have a problem opening the engine again. I just need to have a good idea of what I'm doing inside it.
If the replaced chain caused the sound, take it out to inspect if it's the right type.

I think valve train noise should be present all the time. My rattling specifically when the engine is idling under load (gear engaged, radiator fan on)
I also think valve train noise should start gradually and not suddenly.
This sound started immediately after replacing my timing chain which was significantly stretched. I'm thinking the timing upset something.
What a stretch chain would offset is the synchronized movement of the crank and cam components which the valve train is part of.
Physical diagnosis would be your best bet actually.

So I have a Hyundai sante fe 2007 3.3ltrs engine.
Each time I accelerate to 20km/HR or more, I get a lot of vibrations on the car, felt strongly at the steering.
The vibrations reduces at higher speeds.
And also wen I carry passengers/loads, any small pothole or rough road I enter, it will seem as if the car isn't balanced anymore and tilts towards that direction a bit.

Any help from d house?🙏
Physical inspection and diagnosis would help pinpoint what's wrong with the vehicle.
Where's your location?
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by jceesquare(m): 3:44pm On Mar 01
Macmilla:

Around 700-800. I don't think that's our of spec. My idle rpm is very normal even when gear is engaged or AC is turned on. It just starts vibrating and then the rattling. This rattling seems more audible after driving round and warming the engine up well. It's mostly absent during cold, but I guess that is because the rpm is still high at cold.
Your RPM would drop down to normal operating range within 2 mins from cold start even if engine has not reached normal operating temperature. If the noise is more prevalent when engine is warmed up, then the noise is probably coming from areas that's constantly lubricated by your engine oil, and under load when fully warmed creats friction when oil flow is thinner.

On my Hyundai Accent 2012 1.6L engine, high RPM is 1500 in the morning and I rarely have time to see if it will adjust but when I put the AC ON and Drive, RPM is 1000 and also acceleration is sticky but when I'm about to apply brake it jerks like is about to speed up.

then in the afternoon under hot sun RPM is below 800, idling is not steady going up and doing and also vibrate with Ac ON

Only error code is P0030 and that's H02S bank 1 sensor1

I've not really observed any cold start rattle.
After all that I've done in trying to solve this rattling and p0011, I can only think of the actuator or the timing chain. It's just driving me nuts.
Where is the RPM when you observe this vibration and rattle?

OPEYEMIAD:

I took it to another mechanic and we all checked, only to discovered that one fan is not working. So whenever i put on AC, it boil the coolant and the vapour evaporate. Leading to the dryness of the radiator.

We fixed the fan and everything is fine now

Thank you all
You found the cause for the overheating, but the damage has not been addressed.
Your cooling system is a closed unit and water should not evaporate unless you have a leak.
Just like the air in your tyres, it shouldn't go down unless you have a leak somewhere.
Unless the coolant boiled beyond what your pressure cap can withstand then that explains the loss of coolant. I'd suggest you run a pressure test on your cooling system.

Am also facing same issue with my Rav4. Engine goes off abruptly especially when I turned on AC staying on break / idle mode. My mechanic suggested to change fuel pump. But later told me that might not be the reason despite paying him for the fuel pump. Kindly help out.
Yours could be a faulty idle system.

Hello,
Please my Rav4 engine goes off when I'm not accelerating or in park. I would have to turn it off completely and start it again to get it moving. The mechanic said it was fuel pump and changed the pump and filter and the problem stopped for like a week but it has now started again.
He scanned it and nothing was detected.
What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?
Did he buy just the pump or the complete assembly?

Wrong advise from the mechanic. I actually insisted on getting the recommended transmission fluid but he ended up convincing me that Mobil is a better alternative.

I will be draining the fluid tomorrow. I have placed an order for the recommended fluid.

What else can I do to salvage the situation?

No smoke at all
Could be a bad PCV system.
You might also need to run a compression test to be really sure of the state of the engine.
