chimaobikanu:sir, from the post here, you can read clearly that eze ndiigbo of ibadan have a palace. that one. secondly, let me take you back memory lane, eze ndiigbo in akure wore a crown to the original tradition ruler of akure palace, which is Deji of Akure. how many king do we have in a palace, in most community is a taboo, the eze ndiigbo turn deaf hear to it, which is not suppose to be. some of all this things causing issue here and there are avoidable This simply show, you guys knows the right thing to do, but intentional abandon it, and start doing otherwise, which is what is causing problem with you host community. |
Karanka:. Sir seriki is not the same as Emir, find out from pple close to you. now, from your assertion upther, you said Eze should subject themselve to the king. but me and you know reverse is the case, some eze ndiigbo, even instigate their fellow igbo men against the king, just like we witness in Akure few month. Eze ndiigbo equating themselve with the traditional ruler of their host community is what is causing all this hullabaloo. igbo need to respect their host community tradition. with that am sure, there will not be any problem, and we will all live in peace. Thank you |
sankky:Sir, base on your write up, can u have two driver, driving a bus at the same time. two captain inside a ship. you mention that the northerner have seriki everywhere in the east, good. how will you feel, if those seriki are converted to emir, and equate will your kind. for me, am not against igbo having representatives in any community they find themselves, it a welcome idea, but that representative cannot be an eze ndigbo, equating to the king of that land, either the oba or emir in that land. hereby giving directive same as the original king of that land. it is a no no |
No two way about it. Get up and start swimming to work, or you get fired, whenever the rain stop, for you to resume work |

Senate President Bukola Saraki has made fresh moves to reach out to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, following the Supreme Court judgment on his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The Supreme Court had on February 5 ruled that Saraki’s trial should continue at the CCT. The apex court had affirmed the propriety of Saraki’s trial at the CCT on 13 counts of false asset declaration. In the 13 counts initiated by the Federal Government, Saraki was said to have made false asset declaration in his forms at the Code of Conduct Bureau as a two-term governor of Kwara State. The CCT had on Friday said Saraki’s trial would resume on March 10. It was reliably gathered that since February 5, Saraki had been making moves to indirectly reach out to Buhari and Tinubu. A top government source, who confided in SUNDAY PUNCH , said Saraki could not reach out directly to Buhari on the matter because he knew the President’s disposition to such issues. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that the Senate President resorted to sending emissaries to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo when Buhari was on a six-day vacation and Osinbajo was the acting President. The delegation was reportedly led by the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume. The source said the Vice-President made his position and that of the President clear to Saraki’s emissaries. He said, “Saraki knows the kind of person the President is and I think he won’t approach him directly on this matter. “But yes, I can tell you that he is reaching out indirectly. “He sent emissaries to meet with the Vice-President when the President was on vacation and the Vice-President was on the chair in acting capacity. “The emissaries had met with the Vice-President under the cover of the developments about the 2016 budget. “In the process, they put the issue of Saraki forward. “Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, however, made it equivocally clear to them that the two issues could not be mixed. He told them that the issue of the budget was different from the trial of Saraki.” Ndume had on Tuesday led some of his colleagues, including Dino Melaye, Abdullahi Adamu and Monsurat Sumonu to meet Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. At the end of the closed-door session, Ndume told State House correspondents that the meeting reviewed some developments in the polity, including the issue of the 2016 budget currently before the National Assembly. While saying that it would not be a new thing if people read meanings into their visit, Ndume had claimed that his delegation did not discuss Saraki’s travails with the Vice-President. He was however quick to rise in support of the Senate President when his opinion was sought on the calls by his colleagues in the Unity Forum that Saraki should resign. “Are you saying that the Senate President should be convicted before the trial? In our constitution, you are considered innocent until proven guilty,” he had said. For Tinubu, it was gathered that Saraki had reached out to not less than 10 opinion leaders and clerics to visit the APC leader at his home in Bourdillon, Ikoyi, Lagos. Saraki and Tinubu fell out in June last year when he defied the directive of the APC and became the Senate President under controversial circumstances. The Senate President further ensured that Tinubu’s preferred candidates were denied principal offices at the Senate. The former governor of Lagos State subsequently broke all communication with Saraki, describing him in an open letter as an ‘indisciplined and disloyal man who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in soul.’ Another reliable source told one of our correspondents that Tinubu was not interested in Saraki’s latest peace moves. He said, “Access from Saraki’s camp has been blocked. Tinubu has been disappointed in every way. It was the party that picked Ahmed Lawan. He was not Tinubu’s initial candidate but he did it all the same. “So, he has decided to (wash his) hands and will not say a word again regarding Saraki. “Efforts have intensified since Saraki’s recent CCT trouble but Tinubu has been out of the country. He has been in Guinea for the last five days. “We have been informed that Saraki is working with a team of people in Ilorin that will storm Lagos. Top leaders there including Muslim clerics are being put together to visit Lagos and mediate on his behalf but Tinubu is not interested.” He added, “There is no deal to be made anymore. Saraki never conceded anything. He did not give any of our people any principal position. He then went ahead to increase the number of Senate committees by fiat just to placate those that have been following him to court. “Every concession was denied. The approval of ministers had nothing to do with Tinubu. It was purely between him and President Muhammadu Buhari. “Tinubu has moved on. He has been visiting African countries, supporting other democracies in West Africa.” “Saraki should go and get good lawyers. As you can see, attempts to remove the CCT chairman did not work. Attempts to stop the trial at the Supreme Court have also failed.” All attempts to reach the spokesperson for Tinubu, Mr. Sunday Dare, proved abortive as he did not respond to repeated telephone calls. Saraki meets Buhari regularly — Aide When contacted, the Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Yusuf Olaniyonu, said on Saturday that his principal had been having regular meetings with the President in recent times on national issues. Olaniyonu, who spoke with one of our correspondents on telephone cited the most recent when both leaders jointly hosted the German President at the Aso Rock villa on Thursday night. Saraki’s spokesperson however, said the regular parleys between Saraki and Buhari were purely on issues of national interest. He said, “These two gentlemen hold two critical arms of government and they need to meet regularly to discuss issues of national importance. “The issue of budget is there, insurgency and the economy generally. How can anybody think the Senate President will be seeking audience with the President on the issue of the CCT when there are serious national issues calling for attention?” When asked if Saraki would reach out to the President, Olaniyonu said, “No comment.” Before his recent moves to reach out to the President and Tinubu, Saraki had been facing renewed opposition from the Senate Unity Forum led by Senator Ahmed Lawan. Lawan was supported for the senate presidency by the APC leaders and some party senators, while Saraki got the backing of all Peoples Democratic Party senators and some APC senators to emerge as senate president last year. Last week, the Lawan faction regrouped in a bid to force Saraki to resign. www.punchng.com/cct-trial-saraki-reaches-out-to-buhari-tinubu-again/ |
Corruption lingers at the core of many of the world's underdeveloped nations. Nigeria, the most populated country in Africa, is perceived to be the most corrupt among 60 countries evaluated, according to data from the 2016 Best Countries rankings. The rankings are a characterization of 60 countries based on a survey of more than 16,000 people from four regions. In the survey, respondents answered how closely they related each of the 60 countries to the term "corrupt." Respondents were given no further specifications of the term, so interpretation of the word "corrupt" was left to survey respondents. Elections in Nigeria face scrutiny, even though government accountability is seen as having improved. In 2015, President Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari became the first opposition party candidate to win an election. As part of his presidential campaign, Buhari promised to crack down on corruption. "When you fight corruption, it fights back," Nuhu Ribadu, the former chairman of Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said in a TedX talk in Berlin. [READ: Explore the rankings, data, video and news from Best Countries.] Nigeria's former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki, is scheduled to face trial on charges of fraud and money laundering, according to Bloomberg. It is the country's first high-profile corruption trial since Buhari took office. In November, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari attributed this incident – and other alleged abuses of power – to the country's inability to defend itself from other threats, including Boko Haram, an extremist group that began its conquest in 2009 to create an Islamic state. Russia, seen as the second-most powerful country in the world, is also seen as the sixth most corrupt. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Colombia – a country synonymous with illegal drug kingpins like Pablo Escobar – gives Nigeria a run for its money as the second most corrupt country, based on perception. Below are the 10 countries perceived to be the most corrupt, according to data from the 2016 Best Countries rankings. Country Name 1. Nigeria 2. Colombia 3. Iran 4. Pakistan 5. Mexico 6. Russia 7. Algeria 8. Egypt 9. Kazakhstan 10. Bolivia http://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/2016-02-11/10-most-corrupt-countries-ranked-by-perception?hl=1&noRedirect=1 |
Kenai:Pls i dnt get what you are insinuating. what all we are seeing now, is a ripple effect of misappropriation and management. i dnt wnt to blame anybody here, but the truth is previous administration (bth OBJ, Yardua & GEJ) during the raining days fail to save for time like this. mind you, this is not only affecting nigeria, but just that we are one of the most hit nation, reason been that our economy depend only on crude, and crude is no more selling. the only way out for us now is to diversify. and at present only two things can save us, which is IT and Agriculture. importation should be reduce drastically. |
From the period PMB take over fr GEJ, most people will agree with me that, their is increase in power, yet we continue to pay the same amount we are paying before. then No complain. now for us to keep on enjoying even more power, FG said we have to pay a little above what we are paying before. we started shouting, calling BRF diff unprintable name. some even say, BRF wake up yesterday and decide to increase the bill over night, mean while this issue of increase in tariff have been on for almost 3yrs now, NERC have been ringing this into our ear. Now the question is, Do we really want the government to work, or just sit there for 4 years, we vote for another person, he will also come and sit for another 4 yrs. Because to me now, Nigerians we are set of confuse people. if Gov want to borrow to put infrastructure in place, to be payed back over a period of years, we will all start shouting that they don borrow money again, they have mortgage our future, mortgage our children children future as well. now for gov not to mortgage both our future and our children future, we are ask to pay for it, so that this infrastructure will be put in place. we are allover the street, shouting, complaining, calling our leaders various unprintable name. if the gov fold their arm, and do nothing, we will still complain, that they are not doing anything, now were will they get the money to finance various project. yet we want to keep enjoying the basic amenities of life, at who's cost EVEN IN FREE TOWN, NOTHING IS FREE |

Report reaching DAILY POST has it that the Borno State House of Assembly has been invaded by operatives of the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Residents of Shehuri ward where the House of Assembly is located told DAILY POST that legislators abandoned the flour of the house when security operatives allegedly to be men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC came to arrest some of the members. According to them, some of the legislators escaped on foot while others were quick to sneak out before the security operative sealed off the Assembly over alleged corruption. There was no legislator to speak to as at press time, even as rumour has it that the EFCC has succeeded in arresting some politicians in the state. http://dailypost.ng/2016/01/26/efcc-seals-borno-house-of-assembly-over-allegations-of-corruption/?utm_source=dlvr.it_dp2&utm_medium=twitter~ |

From your bible verse, 22 comes before 25. Submission and Love come hand in hand. a wife need to summit to her husband, and see how the husband will be all over her, evertime, like a baby around her mother, then it even easier for the wife to remote control the husband. because the husband will see ntin wrong there. even if the husband love the wife, without the wife been submissive, the love will grow wary, and die. |
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will today arraign the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja for charges bordering on destruction of evidence. Metuh, who has been on remand in prison, pending when he would fulfil the bail conditions imposed on him by a Federal High Court in Abuja with respect to the charges of money laundering involving N400m, part of funds meant for procurement of arms which he allegedly collected from the office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014. Metuh allegedly tore his written statement and attempted to chew it while he was being investigated for the money laundering case. Prison authorities have produced Metuh before Justice Ishaq Bello for the arraignment to take place. http://www.punchng.com/efcc-arraigns-metuh-for-destruction-of-evidence/ |
The reminiscences of the heroic deeds of a late Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Ladoke Akintola came alive in Ogbomoso as the son of the deceased politician, Ambassador Abayomi Akintola gave a vivid account of how his dad was murdered 50 years ago. He said this at a lecture marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Akintola who died in January 15, 1966. The event was held at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. According to him, the picture of how the remains of his father were left at the entrance of the building is still fresh in his memory. Among the dignitaries that attended the ceremony include Governor Abiola Ajimobi; Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Governor of Oyo State; Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Mashood Adeoti; a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide; Senator Brimmo Yusuf and many others. At the LAUTECH lecture, Akintola said that none of the premier’s children and their wives was injured while the gun attack lasted, describing their father as a hero who laid down his life and shielded his family from the invaders. He said, “I was managing a thriving business in Lagos when my late father directed me to relocate to Ibadan when he became premier. Although, I was very reluctant to leave certainty for uncertainty, I had to defer to him. That was how I came to Ibadan. “During the coup, about 50 soldiers invaded our house. My father was in a room within the house with us and we begged him not to go out. We shielded ourselves with the big wardrobes in the room as the soldiers began to shoot sporadically. “At a stage my father told us he wanted to go and meet them, but we begged him not to go. Like the hero that he was, he told us that he would prefer to go and face them and damn the consequence, rather than to allow them to wipe out his family if they continue to hide.” In his address at the event, Ajimobi admonished the family of the late premier to reach out and involve more people and political leaders on issues and events relating to the late premier, whom he described as an “unsung hero.” Ajimobi said, “Akintola died at God’s appointed time. It’s our fault that Akintola was not being celebrated the way we should. I want to first blame the family for monopolizing him; then the rest of us. That is why I would want us to start strategizing on how to compensate this nationalist. “The contemporary political history and evolution of Nigeria begins with the outstanding contributions of many notable nationalists, politicians and statesmen, who were beacons of light in their generation. In the forefront, no doubt, was the Late Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola “This late icon was an unsung hero, not only because of his unprecedented achievements as a politician, a parliamentarian, an astute administrator, but also because he was a bridge builder in Nigeria’s search for national integration. “In the various ministries where he served and most importantly under his watch as the Premier, his administration became the centre of landmark achievements. Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola was an orator, humourist, forceful campaigner, crowd-puller and a frontline politician. In his lecture, a professor of History from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Enoch Oyedele, said, “Whether they call themselves Biafra, Boko Haram or any other name, anybody clamouring for the balkanization of this country should forget the idea. Nigeria is a viable country if its resources are well harnessed and applied. “Political party system is one of the greatest problems confronting this country today. Political parties are mere platforms being used to win elections. They are not movement of the people. We must restructure this country to redress the unjust political and socio-economic structure of Nigeria.’’ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/01/how-they-killed-my-father-akintola/

There are strong indications that the Defence Headquarters will this week set up a panel on its officers who are being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged fraudulent arms purchase. SUNDAY PUNCH reliably gathered on Saturday that besides facing the EFCC’s investigations, the affected serving officers would face the military panel, which the Defence Headquarters might constitute this week. President Muhammadu Buhari had on Friday ordered the EFCC to investigate 17 serving and retired military officers, including the past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd.); a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Dikko Umar (retd.) (2010 -2012) and the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu (retd.), in alleged fraudulent arms purchases between 2007 and 2015. The 11 serving officers that will be investigated by the EFCC, who will also face the military panel, include Air Marshal A.M. Mamu (Chief of Administration, Nigeria Air Force); AVM Oguntoyinbo (former Director of Production, Defence Headquarters); AVM T. Omenyi (Managing Director, NAF Holdings); and AVM J.B. Adigun (former Chief of Accounts and Budget). Others are AVM R. A. Ojuawo (Air Force Tactical Air Command, Markudi); AVM J.A. Kayode-Beckley (Director, Armament Research in Air Force Research and Development Centre); Air Cdre. A.O. Ogunjobi; Air Cdre G.M.D. Gwani; Air Cdre A.Y. Lassa; Col. N. Ashinze (Special Assistant to the former NSA, Dasuki and Air Cdr. S.O.Makinde.An Air Vice Marshal is an equivalent of a Major-General in the Army, while an Air Commodore is on the same level with a Brigadier-General. It will be recalled that Buhari had last year set up a committee to audit the purchase of defence equipment between 2007 and 2015. The committee, in its report, said that it discovered that N643bn and $2.1bn were received for defence procurement between 2007 and 2015 by Defence Headquarters and the military services. Based on the N197-to-the-dollar official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the sum of $2.1bn translates into a total of N413.7bn. The $2.1bn (N413.7bn) when added to the N643bn, gives a total sum of N1.067tn that was received for defence procurements by the Defence Headquarters between 2007 and 2015. It stated that N29bn and $2bn were expended on procurement by the Nigerian Air Force during the period. A senior military officer, who spoke to SUNDAY PUNCH on condition of anonymity on Saturday, said the defence authorities had started a process of setting up a military panel that would also investigate the arms procurement scandal. The senior military source explained that the affected senior officers of the armed forces would face the administrative process of facing a military panel or be relieved of their command positions. The source said, “There are standard administrative procedures for doing things in the military when issues like this come up. “The indicted officers are either relieved of their positions or they are summoned to appear before a panel which would make recommendations.” The source, who could not speak on record because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said the panel might be constituted this week. The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, also said the military authorities would not shield any personnel indicted in the ongoing probe from investigation. He said the armed forces were totally committed to the President’s campaign against corruption because of the inimical effects of the scourge against national developments. Abubakar said this while speaking with our correspondent on the telephone on Saturday. He said, “Corruption frustrates development. Whoever is involved in corrupt practices should face the music because corruption has adverse consequences on all sectors of human endeavours. Corruption deprives the citizens from the expected getting benefits from the government. “Our stance is that we are completely in support of any measure that would stop corruption in the military or in the civil sector. The military would do anything to support the fight against corruption which is a cardinal principle of this government. “The present leadership of the military abhors corruption.” www.punchng.com/arms-scandal-10-generals-one-colonel-face-military-panel/ |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested Emeka Mba, the Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission over an alleged N15 billion fraud, PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report. Mr. Mba was arrested on Monday morning in Abuja and taken to the EFCC’s headquarters where he is currently being interrogated. Those familiar with the investigation told PREMIUM TIMES the EFCC had been investigating the NBC in the past one month. Last week, some detectives stormed the headquarters of the NBC, ransacking computers and files in the Finance and Account unit. During the operation, some key Accounts staff where taken away. Sources said the arrested officials made confessional statements to the EFCC implicating Mr. Mba and some top officials of the NBC. When contacted, the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, said he was on an official assignment in Lagos and had not been briefed. But a top official of the anti-graft agency said: “Yes, he (Mr. Mba) is with us. We are investigating massive diversion of public funds and we’re making progress. Mba definitely has questions to answer.” www.premiumtimesng.com/news/196600-breaking-nbc-director-general-emeka-mba-arrested.html |
To me, am ok with what the man did. this thing will have been happening over and over again. they will have agree that by so so time, we are leaving for the outing, a woman that know how long it will take her to make up should start her preparation on time, they will not, they will be waiting for the man to start first, knowing fully well that a man can dress up within 10-15min. thereby keeping the man waiting unnecessarily, now that she was left behind, the man will be blame from all angle, but am sure nx time they have outing together, the woman will be the one waiting for the husband inside the car. and that is how it should be, Woman will be going up and down inside the house without knowing what they are even looking for. The husband act right |
