PoliticsGovernor Fayose’s Bank Account Frozen Because It Contained ₦1.2billion NSA Funds by jcflex(op): 10:34pm On Jun 20, 2016
Sources at Nigeria's premier anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that a personal account at the Zenith Bank of Nigeria of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, was frozen in connection with over N1.2billion he took in 2014 from the disgraced National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, to prosecute his re-election as governor.

Several of the operatives said the action came at the end of agency’s year-long investigation into the matter.

Our sources claim Mr. Fayose received huge sums of money from the office of the NSA that was meant for arms procurement, with which he meticulously bribed security officials and voters to get into the Ekiti governorship for the second time.

At least three security agencies which investigated the fraud found that the governor stole monies meant for national security, and deposited them into his personal account. N500m was traced to the now-frozen Zenith Bank account.

The Nigerian Army referred some of the officers who took a bribe from Mr. Fayose to the EFCC after some of them were compulsorily retired from service.

It would be recalled that in 2014, SaharaReporters obtained an audio tape in which Mr. Fayose, the then Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Minister for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, and Osun State Senator, Iyiola Omisore, connived with army officers to harass and arrest members of the opposition party in order to facilitate Mr. Fayose's re-election.

While Mr. Obanikoro at first attempted to deny the authenticity of that tape, which had been discreetly made by Captain Sagir Koli, a patriotic army captain, Mr. Adesiyan confirmed it to be genuine.

After his election, Mr. Fayose deposited the monies into his personal account and that of his Spotless Hotel in Ekiti, venue of the infamous rigging meeting.

The EFCC said it is sure to prosecute those involved in the fraud in the coming days.

PoliticsTribunal Chairman Threatens To Jail, Throw Out Unruly Pro-saraki Senators by jcflex(op): 4:51pm On Jun 07, 2016
The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, on Tuesday, threatened to jail senators attending court sessions in solidarity with Senate President Bukola Saraki and throw them out of the tribunal.

The chairman got angry over ‘rude’ comments from senators and other supporters of Mr. Saraki.

The individuals, seated in the court gallery, had repeatedly asked Rotimi Jacobs, prosecution counsel, to “sit down.”

This immediately infuriated Mr. Umar, who said the Senate President’s supporters’ conduct was becoming unbearable in his court, adding that they should “keep quiet.”

“If I hear anybody ask the counsel to sit down, I will deal with the person, and nobody can question me about it. In fact, I will hold the person in contempt and sentence the person to hard labor, and nobody will question me.”

The trial of Mr. Saraki for alleged anticipatory and false asset declaration resumed Tuesday (today), after weeks of rescheduling at the instance of the prosecution team. The session is currently underway.

The tribunal is hoping to conclude the cross-examination of the prosecution witness, Michael Wetkas, this week, counsel in the case said.

The cross-examination began in April and has prolonged till now, a situation that has angered the prosecution team which has accused the defence of unnecessarily slowing down the trial

Both teams are currently sparring over the significance of questions being asked by the defence.

PoliticsSaraki’s CCT Trial To Resume June 7 by jcflex(op): 8:36pm On Jun 02, 2016
The trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on charges of false and anticipatory asset declaration before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja, is to resume on June 7.

The Federal Government is prosecuting Saraki on 16 counts, including false and anticipatory asset declaration in his asset declaration forms which he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau between 2003 and 2011 when he served as Governor of Kwara State.

The trial was stalled on Wednesday following the absence of the first prosecution witness, Mr. Michael Wetkas, who was appearing as witness in the trial of the immediate past Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Lead prosecuting counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), had on Wednesday written to the Danladi Umar-led CCT intimating the tribunal of the development and suggested June 7, 8 and 9 dates for continuation of trial.

The Head, Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Al-hassan, in a statement on Thursday, confirmed that the tribunal had granted Jacobs’ request by fixing June 7 for the trial to resume and to continue on June 8 and 9.

Al-hassan said this confirmed that the reports in some sections of the media that the trial had been adjourned indefinitely was false.

“This got to show that the initial impression that the tribunal had adjourned indefinitely was false, as publicised yesterday (Wednesday) by some media organisations,” Al-hassan said.

PoliticsSaraki's Case Not Adjourned Indefinitely, prosecutor Says Case Come Up Next Week by jcflex(op): 2:42pm On Jun 01, 2016
This is against rumors going round that saraki's case have been postpone indefinitely.

find link below

https://www.nairaland.com/3139836/cct-trial-tribunal-adjourns-sarakis

A prosecutor at the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Wednesday told SaharaReporters that contrary to rumors in the media the corruption trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki had not been adjourned "indefinitely" are completely untrue.

The source who didn't want to be named said the reason trial could not come up today was due to a conflict in another trial involving the former governor of Jigawa, Sule Lamido before Justice Ademola Adeniji at the Federal High Court in Abuja. He also stated that a second member of the tribunal called in sick making it impossible to get a new date yet.

The source said the witness for the prosecution, Michael Wetkas, was giving witness in the Lamido case over two days in the trial that commenced yesterday against the former governor. Another case is also scheduled for the Court of Appeal in Abuja tomorrow involving the prosecution team against Saraki as the Court did not sit yesterday due to lack of quorum.

"We are looking at commencing trial again next week as soon as the second member of the tribunal could be reached to give us a new date", the source said.

PoliticsCorruption Can't Be Curbed Without Infringing On People's Rights - Tom Adaba by jcflex(op): 2:29pm On Jun 01, 2016
The pioneer Director-General of Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC),Tom Adaba, has thrown his weight behind the anti-corruption fight of the President Muhammudu Buhari-led administration by scoring it between 70 and 80 percent. Adaba spoke this morning while featuring on 'Focus Nigeria', an informative talk show of African Independent Television (AIT), where first the year of the present administration is being assessed, stressing that "it is very hard to fight corruption without stepping on toes or infringe on people's rights.

The elder statesman said that though he (Adaba) is not and would never support impunity and/or recklessness on the part of the government, which itself is a form of corruption, "it is almost practically impossible to successfully prosecution anti-corruption crusade without clashing with people's rights." Meanwhile, he emphasized that the Buhari-led administration will have to do more in information dissemination if it must continue to earn the citizenry's confidence because they (the citizens) would believe rumours and/or speculations when the government fails to inform them promptly and adequately on issues of governance.

The ex-DG of NBC added that the present administration should be given little more time for the country's economy to boost. "Though I am not an economist or expert in the related field, I believe that once the anti-corruption crusade is vigorously and effectively pursued and won, the economy would pick up afterward."

To me, this is no biggie. Its just the way its supposed to be. It doesn't mean the person concerned can't be referred to the tribunal after his/her explanation.

This is how I see it..."Firefire, you took what does not belong to you..you better return it b4 I take you to court..and then you explained what happened in a defensive manner..if I am not satisfied, I may still choose to take u to court."

I just see this as a way of telling the suspect to get ready for the tribunal.
but must be time bond, if not

it will lead to another technical fault, which offender will capitalize on.

they might choose not to respond to CCB, since it not time bond, and when CCB take them to court, they will complaint of CCB not giving them adequate time to reply.

PoliticsBreaking: Reps In Rowdy Session Over Fuel Price Hike Read More At: Http://www.v by jcflex(op): 1:42pm On May 16, 2016
MEMBERS of the House of Representatives on Monday started its special plenary on fuel price hike on a rowdy note.

At about 12.15pm, the Speaker Yakubu Dogara immediately after prayers read the proceedings of the previous sitting and moved for the admittance of Minister of State, Petroleum Resources,Dr Ibe Kachikwu, into the chamber but the shout of No! No!! No!!! rented the air.

But after the Speaker finished his comment, allowing the leader to move the motion, there was a resounding ‘nay’ from the opposition lawmakers mostly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in rejection of the motion.

Yakubu Dogara, however ignored the strength of the ‘Nay’ prayers by ruling in favour of the ‘Ayes’ as the majority leader quickly moved for the admittance of Dr Kachikwu.

Some members waving the national flag started shouting ‘all we are saying save Nigeria’ , while others were chanting, ‘change’ and others, predominantly PDP Reps were shouting, ‘shame’ ‘shame’.

At this stage, the Minority Leader, Rep Leo Ogor approached the speaker and after a brief chat with him, joined his fellow lawmakers.

Also the Majority Leader, Rep Femi Gbajabiamila and some of the lawmakers approached the speaker but the noise continued as all appeals by the Majority Whip, Rep Ado Doguwa, to his colleagues fell on deaf ears.

Suddenly, frayed tempers disappeared and the speaker gave the minority leader the floor and he immediately moved for a closed door meeting.

PoliticsFayose Causing Confusion In Our Party – PDP by jcflex(op): 1:37pm On May 14, 2016
The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State of causing confusion in the party.

It said the governor was behind the plan to hold the South-West zonal congress in Akure on Saturday despite the court order which asked the party to suspend the exercise.

National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo, stated this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Saturday.

Oladipo said that the party had decided to obey the order of Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos, which restrained the party from going ahead with its zonal congress.

Apart from Akure, another faction of the party had planned to hold a separate zonal congress in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State on the same day before the court order was served on the party’s national leadership.

The judge had ruled on an ex parte application brought before him on Thursday by the incumbent PDP South-West Zonal Secretary, Chief ‘Pegba Otemolu, and restrained the party from going ahead with the scheduled congress.

The judge said the order would subsist until the final determination of Otemolu’s main suit.

But a day later, Fayose had stormed the national secretariat in Abuja, where he boasted that the congress would go ahead.

Oladipo said on Saturday that the National Legal Adviser of the party, Mr. Victory Kwon, had advised the party to obey the order of the court, which he said was served on him(Oladipo) and the party on Friday afternoon.

He also said that the National Chairman, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff who he said was not at the party secretariat on Friday when the order was served, had been notified.

Oladipo, who is the head of the party’s national secretariat said, “Governor Fayose is not a member of the National Working Committee of the PDP, but he’s causing confusion with his utterances.

“We are not dabbling into his government and he has no right to tell us how to run the party here. We have an order of the court stopping the congress. The governor cannot overrule the court.

“He should behave like other governors who do not dabble into the running of the party at the national level. He should learn from Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State who respect the party and the President of the country.

“The order of the court was even published in three national dailies and therefore, he can’t deny he was not aware.

“Our National Legal adviser who is the Chief Legal Adviser of the part, Mr. Victor Kwon, has advised that we comply with the order and we are complying with it. We are not above the law of the land.”

Oladipo said whatever result that come out of the convention would not be respected by the party as it would amount to waste of time and resources.

According to him, “Those who want to claim they want to organise any conference are doing that on their own, not on behalf of the party.

“Whatever come out of it would be null and void because we are not monitoring it just as the Independent National Electoral Commission has also been informed about the order of the court.
“So, the commission will also not be part of any illegality . We definitely won’t be part of it.”

Our correspondent gathered that INEC had been served with the court order and had directed its officers to stay away from fine congress.

But the governor said he was attending the congress as a loyal member of the party.
The governor, who spoke with through his Media Aide, Mr. Lere Olayinka, said he was only invited to attend the congress.

He said, “Fayose is not a member of the NWC, he isnot a member of the congress committee but he was invited as a member of the party.

“The congress committee is in Akure and that’s why we are attending. Oladipo is an interested party. The governor is interested in the smith-running of the party. The party is not run on the pages of the newspaper.

“If the national chairman said he was not aware of the court order as at Friday, why trying to stop the congress then? Fayose is not interested in any crisis. “
