HNosegbe:my broda, not that m support this man, cus he have good eight yr to himself to turn around this country, but he did not, but in term of employment, he tried, look at the telecom industry, that is the only area i can say the old man live a lasting foot print, from Top manpower, to middle level, even to the illiterate, thousands if nt millions are feeding there family thru that industry alone, if each successive FG can face one sector and revolutionize it, in no time we will get to the promise land. |
I think GEJ and Odua renovate our airport with billions, wit their road show to western country, USA, CHINA, UK, hahahaha, deir is GOD ooooo, tax payer money has been swindled away. |
Am jealous of this man. kind of youth, thou little above 40. we need to lead this country. |
It is one in a million occurrences that a young man would be given a contract worth billions of naira to execute and he would do the job without diverting the fund for personal use. Honesty as a virtue is rare among today’s youths, because the youths lack discipline and they are in a hurry to make money without actually earning and working hard for it. It is no wonder, therefore, that integrity has been thrown out of the window in this generation. In this edition, we celebrate Tonye Cole, the MD of Sahara Group. Tonye has had opportunities in the past to prove himself and he did just that, emerging as a man of profound integrity. With the help of his partners, he has built one of the biggest energy companies with over 30 branches in the world. He has provided employment for a lot of youths and sent many to different fields of acquisition. Tonye Cole is currently a minister at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He is that man who prefers sharing his birthday with school children from the slums as against dinning with the high and mighty in a presidential suite somewhere in the Bahamas. Enjoy! Tonye Cole is husband to Slyvia Cole and father to three lovely children. He is a man with many parts. He was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he hails from but he was raised in a privileged home in Lagos state. Although he was raised in that type of home in which money wasn’t a problem and even attended one of the best primary and secondary schools money could afford, this did not affect his humility. Also his background didn’t make him to sit down and expect life to give him everything he needed. He knew early in life that he had to work hard and work true. His creation, the Sahara Group, and its expansion is a living proof. Sahara Energy some what kicked off in a match box setting and has replicated to over 30 branches worldwide. Tonye schooled abroad but he did not forget his he roots. He is an architect who studied in the University of Lagos before proceeding to the University of Brasilia in Brazil. Tonye Cole, after graduation, worked in a Brazilian architectural firm known as Grupo Quartro in Brazil. He was part of the team involved in the design and implementation of the urban planning and city development of Palmas, the capital city of the newly created state in South America. After returning to Nigeria in 1993, Tonye was employed as the Director of Operations in EMSA S.A., a Brazilian Civil Engineering Company, said to be the 7th largest engineering firm in Brazil. The company was awarded a World Bank-financed water project valued at about $58m for the Lagos State Water Corporation which was a success. INVESTMENTS Tonye is the Managing Director of Sahara Energy Resource Limited, a company that was co-founded in 1996 with his two friends, Tope Shonubi and Ade Odunsi. Sahara Energy started out as an oil and gas company whose core business at the time was to trade excess fuel oil from some places in the Niger delta refineries. Sahara Energy later moved away from being a ‘middleman’ to become an established trading entity diversifying into storage depots and vessel ownership as well as building depots in strategic locations with a combined capacity of 55,000 metric tonnes and a fleet of five vessels moving products across West Africa. Sahara Energy today is a major employer of labour with staff strength of over 300 people. Tonye Cole launched another project for his church known as the NEHEMIAH PROJECT. The project is to rebuild, just like that of Nehemiah’s in the bible. Tonye Cole is the brain behind all the restructuring in Redemption camp. Tonye Cole is one of the sponsors of Monalisa Chinda’s Foundation, Slum2School. Slum2School foundation is a non- governmental organization for children living in slums to have access to good education and life. Tonye Cole’s mission statement any day is: one should promise less and give more. www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/inside-world-sahara-group-md/

A Cameroonian investigative journalist, Bisong Etahoben, is reporting via Twitter the arrest of Mahamat Bichara Gnoti, a close associate of Chadian President IIdriss Déby Ito. Mr. Gnoti was reportedly arrested on the Chadian-Sudan border with 19 SAM2 missiles he purchased from the Sudanese army meant for Boko Haram terrorist in north eastern Nigeria. Mr. Gnoti who claimed that President Idriss Déby gave him the funds to purchase the weapons, had waved a presidential pass issued to him by Mr. Deby’s office in order to get past border guards but was stopped and searched by the guards who found the deadly weapons on him. There has not been an official confirmation or denial either by the Chadian or the Nigerian authorities. A text message sent to the office of Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd), the National Security Adviser in Nigeria regarding Gnoti’s arrest did not receive a response, an aide said Mr. Dasuki is traveling to Mexico. However, the arrest of Mr. Gnoti, if confirmed, will provide solid evidence that the Chadian president is largely behind the Boko Haram lightning insurgency in Nigeria’s northwest. Mr. Derby recently swindled the Nigerian government out of millions of dollars in Nigeria's failed attempt to negotiate the release of some 200 high school girls abducted by Boko Haram from Chibok town last April. On September 8th President Goodluck Jonathan made a dramatic visit to N’djamena to meet with Idris Derby, Mr. Jonathan was accompanied on the trip by the former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sherrif. The visit was condemned by opposition figures and civil society groups in Nigeria as they see it as an open embrace of individuals funding Boko Haram militants. An Australian negotiator, Stephen Davis had accused Mr. Sheriffand former Chief of Army Staff, Azubuike Ihejirika ofactively funding Boko Haram. www.saharareporters.com/political-associate-chadian-president-idriss-déby-arrested-missiles-meant-boko-haram |

majekdom2:nt only total, we have Mobil, agip, MRS form part of chevron, bt it like chevron have buy back the share fr MRS, thon not too sure. aviation oil gaint is shell thru out the world, they ooerate in ghana, here they only exploit our crude. going back to your question, it simply because of inconsistent policy from our government, because of their diff political gain after every election year, if we have a policy that they could be sure of, that will work for minimum of 50yrs upward, the oil giant will waste no time to invest in our economic. SLS, try it best to give our economy a facelift, but the FG itself is a stumbling block to his good policy. |
IBROHIM:my broda, let take it from this angle, is it only petroleum we have in this country. so why is it that FG is directly involve in the industries. why dont we have ministry of limestone, ministry of charcoal, ministry of iron ore and the likes. Either FG or state, they have not thing to do with the industry, eithe downstream or upstream, all they need do it have agency to regulate the industry, that all. my broda, this is why the gaint company in the world the likes of shell, Total, BP, Cnpc, chevron have refuse to build refinery in our country, instead they exploit our crude at chicken change, that our leader are fighting over, and make alot of gain after refining, we provide job for them indirectly, why our own economy is sinking. the Government cannot run a business successfully without sentiment. therefore. what they only need to do is to provide rules and regulation. then the oil gaint will have faith in our economy and invest building refinery, it will be dificult for them then to transport our crude to their various country and import the refine product back to us. |
my pple in as much as I dnt wnt GEJ to come back in 2015, pls removing subsidy will benefit all of us on the long run, but this timing is too short, they should just make it middle of 2015. from now till then, enlightenment should go on around the whole country, from jingle to advert on newspaper, for we the masses to know better, on the immediate effect and the long term gain of the removal. nw just for them to wake up this morning and tell us they will remove it tomoro. it totally a misplace priority. |
samflexxy:what is this one saying |

In as much as i agree with you all, that money motivate staff, how often do organization increase wages, probably once in a year, some every two year or so, money is jst for a short time, once you receive the new wages for like 2mnth, you start to hope for another increment, sometime once you the new package, you will ask, you will be tempted to ask, why the increment was very small like this. Employee motivation is the single most important factor that fuels an organisation’s growth story. When you look at a successful brand, what you see is the fiercely competitive spirit that comes across through its product innovation and sustained efforts to reach out to more customers through some astute marketing. What you will not see is how the brand has seamlessly woven the threads of employee motivation into its corporate culture. Companies consistently posting profits know how to keep their employees happy and motivated. But motivating employees isn’t easy. It is a fairly complex task and there are times when even the most well-planned strategy fails to deliver the results you are looking for. I’ve already talked about some unorthodox tactics that entrepreneurs can use to motivate employees. Now, I want to delve into what is seen by employers as a foolproof method that never fails to motivate employees – the “salary raise.’’ So, here’s my question – “Does money really motivate employees or are we overestimating its importance?” On the face of it, there seems to be only one answer to this question – “Yes, it motivates employees and its importance cannot be overestimated enough.” No brainer, right? But dig a little deeper and doubts begin to surface. A tenuous bond Even if there is a link between employee motivation and a salary raise, it is shaky at best. Think about it. The happiness linked to a pay rise wears off quickly. At best, it will have a passing impact on motivation. It’s common human tendency to want more, especially when it comes to salary. The raise you are offering an employee might never be enough. Dissatisfaction with the raise might begin to creep in quickly. That can hinder motivation and performance. There is a long time between pay rises A salary uptick typically happens once a year, which means employees have to wait for a very long time between one salary appraisal and the next. Yes, your employees will be ecstatic with their salary hike but to think this state of affairs will continue till the next hike is stretching things a bit. This means you can’t depend on a pay rise alone to motivate your employees. It’s just one of the tactics that ensures the people who work for you aren’t dissatisfied with their jobs. More placation than motivation A pay hike is a means of placating employees, not a means of motivating them. It keeps them in good humour; that’s it. Salary improvement can result in employees approaching their work with renewed vigour, but only for a short spell. After that, it’s back to square one. I believe sustained employee engagement, respect, dignity, continuous learning, delegation, autonomy, accountability and responsibility to be far more effective motivational factors compared to a pay hike. Don’t get me wrong – it’s important that employees are paid fairly but to think this will motivate them to perform better at their job is a tad unfair. The reason why they are getting a raise is because they deserve it forall the good work they’ve done through the year, not because it will help them improve their performance. “Better performance” can be seen as an ancillary benefit that might or might not happen. If you use a salary raise purely as a motivational factor, you might even end up rewarding non-performing employees. What works is sustained effort Salary increases should be just a part of your overall motivation strategy. Rewards are important but they are not the be-all and end-all of employee motivation. You must make sustained efforts to make it easy for your employees to succeed and keep growing every day on the job. This is what will motivate them to work for your organisation and deliver their best. As can be imagined, this is a continuous effort and not something that can be taken care of once a year by offering employees a salary raise. www.entrepreneur.com |
