This is information is for the wise only !!! Are You Aware? • That Skye Bank Plc Chairman, Chief Tunde Ayeni bought Nigeria's moribund M-TEL/NITEL for $252M? Are You Aware? • That President Goodluck Jonathan just after 2 days of receiving # 2B donation from Skye Bank Plc chairman, has approved increase in tariff of PHCN? ...... Its unfortunate that people who supports Jonathan misrule to continue thinks they are doing Buhari harm. The only harm being done is to themselves and every other Nigeria. By 2019, our country would have been completely sold to the highest bidder and nothing will be left for the honest and hard-working Nigerians. If you hate Buhari because he is a Muslim, at least look at his Vice, he is a Pastor. If you hate Buhari because he doesn't have a "Primary Six certificate", as some are claiming, look at his Vice, he is a Professor of Law. If you fear that as a formal military leader, Buhari may have the tendency of not upholding the rule of law, then look at his Vice, he is a distinguished Lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Even if you think Buhari has nothing to offer, he cannot be as hopeless corrupt and harmful to Nigerians as Jonathan's Government. You have no reason to allow this corrupt administration to continue till 2019 when you can booth them out now. |

The wife of late politician and leader, Obafemi Awolowo, has given her support to Yemi Osinbajo, the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with a call on Nigerians to vote Mr. Osinbajo at the February 14 election. Mr. Osinbajo is the running mate to Muhammadu Buhari, the former military ruler, who is challenging President Goodluck Jonathan to the top job. The call came when Mr. Osinbajo paid a visit to the matriarch, Hannah Awolowo, at her Ikenne home. Mrs. Awolowo expressed her gratitude to God over the choice of Mr. Osinbajo as the running mate of Mr. Buhari and sought the support of the people of Ikenne in particular and Nigerians in general to make the dream comes to fulfilment. “I am very grateful this morning to see that Yemi Osinbajo is going to higher ground and it is my prayer that he will get there. I urge you all to support his aspiration. God will take you there,” she said. Earlier in his speech, Mr. Osinbajo eulogized the virtues of the late leader, Obafemi Awolowo, for his contribution to the development of the country, assuring that his party would not derail in carrying on with the his good policies and programmes. “My choice as the vice-presidential candidate of our party is a rare opportunity for Remoland, Ogun State and Nigeria. It is God’s divine. Awolowo came out of Remoland to become the Premier of the defunct Western region and he did excellently well. It is my utmost believe and prayer that we will do more than him,” Mr. Osinbajo said. He said he was in Ikenne, his homestead, to receive blessings from the nonagenarian for a successful outcome at the polls come Feburary 14. He attributed high level of insecurity, unemployment, failure in the power sector and other socio-economic challenges confronting Nigeria to bad leadership, promising that his party would bring about the desired change in all ramifications. Mr. Osinbajo was accompanied by his wife, Dolapo, his twin brother, Akin Osinbajo, who was former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Ogun State, the Iyaloja General of Remoland, Mercy Owolana, a former senator, Olorunimbe Mamora, among others. The team also paid a courtesy call on the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Michael Sonariwo, and the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Kayode Adetona. Mr. Osinbajo had earlier visited homes of notable sons of the town which include Adeleke Adesina, who is the coordinator of Ikenne’s Peoples Forum and Idowu Sofola. In his remark, at a town hall meeting, held at Ikenne Town Hall, Mr. Adesina called for support of sons and daughters of the town by voting for Buhari/Osinbajo in the elections. Mr. Adesina told the gathering which had in attendance members of different political parties that the forum was established to drum their unflinching support for their own, whom he said was a bonafide indigene of the town. “This is our project. The very day his name was announced as the running mate of Buhari was the very day we formed the Ikenne Peoples Forum, so that we can chart a common front by supporting our son, Professor Osinbajo,” he said. “The forum is not partisan. It consists of people from different political parties. Our goal is to vote for our son in becoming the number two citizen of this great country. He is God’s appointee and we must all support him. We must support him with our votes and that is why we are starting the campaign from home,” he added. Similarly, Mr. Mamora, in his address, appealed to indigenes and residents of the town to explore the capacity for rational decision by voting for APC in the forthcoming elections. www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/174162-awolowos-wife-backs-osinbajo.html |
An inaugural meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Southwest was held in Akure on Saturday with the objective of outlining a strategy for winning the 2015 elections in the area, with Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose reiterating the party’s old mantra that the presidential contest is a “do or die” affair. The returnee-governor said the party must be prepared to use its control of the army and the police, which it currently controls, to ensure victory for President Goodluck Jonathan at next month’s polls. The meeting was organized by the PDP South-West co-ordinator, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko, who shared the high table with Senitor Iyiola Omisore, Mr. Kolapo Ogunjobi, Senator Musilu Obanikoro, Governor Ayo Fayose and various leaders fromthe zone. Governor Fayose underlined that the presidential election was critical, advising that the party should forget about governorship elections and concentrate on the presidential contest. According to him, once President Jonathan was re-elected, everything else would fall into place and the party could declare the governorship candidates of PDP in various States as it likes Minutes of the meeting obtained by SaharaReporters shows that some delegates advocated de-emphasizing rallies as campaign strategy, preferring that the PDP should focus on propaganda aimed at tarnishing the image of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari. Some of the delegates wanted to use the media to dent the image of General Buhari. In that connection, Senator Omisore ex pressed support for the extensive use of propaganda against Buhari, joining Governor Fayose in stressing that the all efforts should be mobilized to win the Presidency because the PDP would be nothing without the presidency. Mr. Fayose disagreed with the propaganda strategy, describing it as a waste of time. Stressing that attack is the best form of defence, he said that the PDP in general and the South-west PDP should be valiant to face the Tinubus anywhere they are. He underlined that the PDP cannot afford to lose its control of the police and the army, which it will without Jonathan being the president. On Fayose’s description of the presidential election as a “do or die” affair, Gov. Mimiko, obviously aware that the outburst could be used against the PDP, countered that it should not be a “do or die” but rather a “do-and-win” affair. One of the decisions taken by the meeting was to set up a number of committees, including Security, Contacts, Traditional, and INEC. The committee on Security is saddled with the responsibility of working with the police and the army. The party leaders also further tasked the students at both the national and regional levels to monitor various institutions and polling booths to make sure that the election goes in favour of President Jonathan. It was also stated that a national student body had submitted a proposal for a youth conference that will hold in FUTA this month where the South-west students would adopt Jonathan as their presidential candidate. TEXT OF THE MINUTES OF THE INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE SOUTH WEST PDP, HELD ON 27TH DECEMBER 2014 The inaugural meeting of the southwest PDP was held in Akure, at the Government House of the State (Ondo State). The meeting was organized by the PDP South-West co-ordinator, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko. On the high table were Gov. Olusegun Mimiko, Senitor Iyiola Omisore, Mr. Kolapo Ogunjobi, Senator Musilu Obanikoro, Governor Ayo Fayose, a governorship aspirant in Oyo State and various leaders fromthe South-West. At the beginning of the meeting, the host appealed to all the South-West PDP members and leaders to be united so as for them to be able to gain more votes fromthe zone. And people were given opportunity to give opinion on how they could get more votes forthe presidential election in 2015 and win other positions. A speaker from Lagos State made a comment that Senator Muslim Obanikoro’s son, Ibrahim Obanikoro, that contested for the position of council chairman in one of the LCDA’s in Lagos State, defeated Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his area but was not given the position. He mentioned that that they had the key in winning Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that Asiwaju only claims what he cannot do. And the speaker further said that they needed the support of the Presidency to do so many things in Lagos State, concerning the forth-coming election. Also, another speaker from Lagos State emphasized on issue of disbursement of funds for the election. He stressed that funds were always late for disbursement for elections, so they wanted early disbursement so that they could deliver. While another speaker from another state said they were happy for the meeting because it would foster peace among the southwest PDP members and that they could move on easily. A speaker from Oyo State laid emphasis on use of the media and said the party should go more on the media attack on the opposition party (APC). He mentioned that effective use of the media was the weapon being used by APC. Gov. Mimiko now stated that they made findings of who were the owners of some dailies and that it was discovered that those media outfits did not belong to members of the APC, and thus PDP could equally hijack the media. A speaker from Osun State that he had told Gov. Mimiko to help them tell the President to use his power and office to quash Ogbeni Aregbesola before the general elections, so that PDP could produce more votes for the President and that the idea of fighting Gov. Aregbesola would be by going to the Court of Appeal which he said could be influenced to remove Aregbesola. So, he urged the honourable leaders of our amiable party to look into the issue of Osun State. Discussions now moved on to the strategy that would be used for winning the presidential election; • Delegates present at the meeting discussed more on campaign that they should do less of rallies, instead, they should embark on full campaign with propaganda that would tarnish the image of APC presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari. And part of what should be used use to campaign against Gen. Buhari in Lagos is that he was the one who stopped the Railway metro project of Lagos State 30 years ago, and that instead of Buhari completing the project, he paid the penalty for breaching the contract of the railway metro line project. • Delegates present laid serious emphasis on using the media to dent the image of the presidential candidate of APC. Some delegates maintained that the change that the emperor of Bourdillon wanted to change Nig. democracy to totalitarian dictatorship. Members stated that when PDP had no State in the South-west, the President got good votes from the South-west and now that the party has two States, it would be able to win all the other States if the two States in its kitty are well utilised. Senator Omisore said in his speech that propaganda of any form should be utilised and that all efforts should be mobilized to win the Presidency as without the presidency the party is nothing. In the speech of Mr. Ayo Fayose, he said propaganda would only waste time and that attack is the best from of defence. He maintained that the party in general and the South-west PDP needed to be valiant to face the Tinubus anywhere they are. He further said we have the control of police and the army and “I CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE MY CONTROL ON POLICE AND THE ARMY” and without Jonathan being the president we will lose the control. Further, he said the presidential election is a do or die affair but Gov. Mimiko quickly countered that it should not be a do or die affair but rather a do-and-win affair. Governor Fayose later said they should forget about all governorship elections and concentrate on the presidential election, that once President Jonathan returns, we could be declaring the governorship candidates of PDP in various States as they like, meaning that the Presidential election is very paramount. As the meeting progressed, leaders at the meeting put Oyo State in focus and maintained that PDP could get more votes for the president there by begging both Chief Alao Akala and Chief Rasheed Ladoja to align their parties with the PDP since they have no presidential aspirant and there is every need to throw out Ajimobi, Amosun with using militant thugs loyal to PDP. Mr. Kolapo Ogunjobi representing Otunba Gbenga Daniel said they PDP on ground in Ijebu side of Ogun State and they were grassrooters and that they could deliver with good resources. Sen. Musilu Obanikoro in his own speech said 3 days after he lost the PDP primary election, that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came to him in private which he said was quite unusual of him. He said Tinubu asked him how much he had spent and that he was ready to give him 2 billion Naira and a senatorial seat from APC in Lagos State. He said he refused the offer and stressed that they could just imagine how smart and clever Asiwaju is. He further stated that Cardinal James Odunmbaku (Baba Eto) was almost at the concluding part of decamping to PDP and that he had even concluded with the presidency in Aso Rock before Asiwaju hijacked him back with the position of Director-General of Campaign of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. He said they could see that Tinubu is the smart type. Senator Obanikoro further said he was the only person that could match Bola Ahmed Tinubu because he said he knew his tactics. He further emphasized that with cash in his hand, Tinubu is nobody. While Governor Fayose intervened by saying that there was nothing special in Lagos and that he normally visited markets in Lagos every weekend and before the people in the market would recognize him, they would have said so many things in his presence that they won’t know. Govenor Fayose further said he was coming to Lagos to teach people the market approach to sensitizing the people on the need to support PDP and dump APC. Afterall this, the communiqué prepared sequel to which the press was allowed entry into the place for a brief coverage before they were dispersed again. At the end, they set up various committees on such areas as: • SECURITY • TRADITIONAL • CONTACTS • INEC etc. Committee on contacts will meet important personalities to canvass them, they mention people like Jimoh Ibrahim in Ondo, the Ogun people mentioned Sen. Anthony Adefuye as part of the personalities to be visited, and many other personalities. Committee on INEC would monitor various INEC commissioners in various south-west states and try as much as possible to lure them with money to compromise in favour of our great party. Committee on traditional rulers would meet up all Obas in the southwest for consultation on the presidential election and use financial gratification to lure them as many of them really need stomach infrastructure, according to Governor Fayose. Governor Mimiko maintained that many of those Obas are actually hungry and with good amount of money they could get them to support PDP. Committee on security is saddled with the responsibility to work with the police and the army. Leaders of the party further tasked the students at both the National (NANS) and southwest level, state level to monitor various institutions, polling booths and make sure that the election would go in favour of Jonathan. It was also observed that the National body of student (NANS) submitted a proposal for a youth conference that will hold in FUTA in January where the South-west students would adopt Jonathan as their presidential candidate. Some leaders also talked about APC’s strategy of deploying 10 persons per polling booth and that they were aware of it and stated that all leaders should task themselves to use councilors in all their various booths. Lastly, the South-west coordinator said the next meeting that would hold in Ibadan which would involve fund-raising for the presidential election from stakeholders of the PDP south-west and the meeting would be used to shake Oyo once again urging that the Governorship aspirant of PDP to be prepared. The meeting ended with closing prayer from a delegate from Ondo State. www.saharareporters.com/2015/01/02/governor-fayose-explodes-presidential-contest-do-or-die-affair-advocates-use-policearmy |

The problem of Nigeria since independence till date has been regarded as poor leadership. Where did Nigeria got it wrong? Conflict theory said "underdevelopment in Nigeria existed, because of the nation association with the colonial master that dictated the pattern of her social political and social economy life. " The people of Nigeria cannot forget in a hurry the outcomes of the aforementioned above that led to the civil war, and also created the gaps for serious errors chains of leadership in Nigeria resulting to various forms of military interventions. What is error chains? Error chains means a breakdown in a system or breakdown of safeguards in a team, or by a member of a team with serious consequences. 1999, saw civilians rule returned to Nigeria, people dance, prayed, remonstrated that the darkest era in her history as a nation was indeed over. The new PDP government promised hope; hope; hope; hope and still more hopes. Our people waited forthe realisation of hopes and believing the fact that hopes never fails. The government of obasanjo took off with restructuring of the armed forces in the country and promise of sweeping economy reforms. The outcomes of the first4 years of PDP are: 1. An appetite for more power 2. Divide and rule principles on the alter of ethnicity and religion beliefs. 3. Massive corruption 4. Lack of internal democracy 5. Lack of freeand fair elections. Election after elections came and gone, PDP held on to power using the same tactics. They teared opposition apart by refusing to make a level playing ground to all parties. The same period saw PDP on spending spree that benefited some political interest, while leaving the rest ofthe masses in squalor. The political divide continued and language were used to verge anger, word such as "marginalisation" took over the regional space, and PDP switched their jingo from hope to "dividends of democracy." The same period saw the price of oil on the increase and the amount of petrol dollars in the nation encouraged corruption and kill competition. The government lack the political will to diversify the economy in the non oil sectors. PDP rule came to climax, when the Niger Delta militants first struck, and Yaradua was able to manoeuvre with the use of "amnesty" before his demise on the throne, and this paved the way for the emergence of King Jonathan as the president. He was a man without shoes, he promise to see the nation to the promise land, the whole nation rallied around him from the north, east, west and south. The man who has no shoes won in an election that most people believed was far from free and fair. PDP era continued with spending spree and financial recklessness. The learning curve of poor leadership and experimental democracy continues both in the executive arm and parliament. Corruption was at the highest level of government and even celebrated. GEJ became the biggest political error in Nigeria political history, he blow away every opportunity to write his name in gold, he blow away over 21 billion dollars in excess crude oil account in 8 months. The leadership errors became a chains under his watch, boko haram emerged and waxed stronger, killing the masses from state to state, and the president even said boko haram are in his government. GEJ appeared like a drowning president ruling a drowning nation and yet want to hold on to power until the nation disappears. Under his watch: 1. opposition was branded terrorist without evidence, and no action had been taken by his government to prosecute them, despite an open invitation by the opposition for full investigations. 2. Obasanjo risk his life to meet with leaders of boko haram, so that the issue can be resolved and GEJ was caught up in denial and blame games that everything was under control. 3. The president said people where making the nation ungovernable for him, and yet he was commander in chief. 4. He became president of Ijaw nation only, instead of president of the federal republic of Nigeria. 5. He turned church programs into political campaigns for his second term bid. 6. He advised his followers to do the same in the mosque for his second term bid. 7. Kangaroo cases was sponsored and verdict where given by political judges to clear the way for his second term bids. Is he the kind president Nigerians really needs? Some people said yes and others said no. Most of those saying yes, base their argument on religious and ethnic grounds. A social commentator wrote " if you believed GEJ has rule Nigeria well so far, type amen. if you want God to rule your life in the same way GEJ is ruling Nigeria." Nobody was bold enough to say amen. The people knew the PDP party is a bad brand and yet afraid of change. Are the masses guilty of the offence of PDP? The numerous sins of PDP are as follows. 1. Spent billions of dollars on electricity and nothing to show for it. 2. Stealing is not corruption, so what is corruption? 3. Failure to diversify the nation economy. 4. Corruption at every level of government. 5. Failure to build infrastructure 6. Missing chibok girls. 7. Misappropriation of annual budget 8. Failure to guarantee the security and safety of ordinary Nigerians. 9. Failure to defeat boko haram. 10. Failure to fight unemployment 11. Failure to fight poverty. 12 the missing 22 billion dollars. While some of the sins listed above are impeachable in other civilised parliamentary democracy around the world, the Nigeria PDP parliament are deeply engross in the same sins, leaving the masses with only one option to VOTE FOR CHANGE COME 2015. The nation must not allow this political error chain to continue to ruin the future of Nigeria. The opposition party may not be the perfect change for the nation. Let the people utilised the power of change now and reserve this power for future changes. PDP came to existence in 1999 and the people didn't made an everlasting covenant with them. No president and no party can claim to have monopoly of power. We as individuals will die and Nigeria will out lived us, let us seat down and reflect the future of the next generations and what their fate will become. This message is from the national coordinator: Nigeria Geo-Political Youth Alliance (NIGYA) |

GOVERNOR Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State was recently appointed Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation. At an interactive session, Amaechi among other things, reels out plans of the campaign organisation and also clears the air on knotty issues. Excerpts: Why Jonathan is in trouble — Gov Amaechi Says he didn’t fund Buhari’s campaign By Dapo Akinrefon IS it true you funded the Buhari campaign for the primaries? I did not. Buhari did not spend money for the primaries. Anybody who said they spent money should come forward with evidence. We have maintained consistently that Nigerians would fund us and that is why we have launched our campaign we are hoping that people will contribute. It is there on our website; you will just look at the account and go and pay. And we are making sure that we convince General Buhari to be the sole signatory to that account. That is the way we would raise our money. We would not depend on rich men. You can’t fight the president on funds. See how much he raised from people who some of them collected the N2.3trillion on oil subsidy and are yet to pay back. If he is not prosecuting them for oil subsidy, why shouldn’t they pay for his election? Symbol of change The president is trying to raise over N200 million for power and then those people he is helping to raise the money are giving him N500million. We can’t fight the president with money, we will fight him with the people. We will fight the president by telling Nigerians that they have to vote for change and the symbol of change for us is the APC and General Buhari. I will like to reiterate again that General Buhari did not pay anybody to vote for him at the primaries and he won because Nigerians want change. How do you intend to combine your duty as director-general of the APC presidential campaign with your duties as governor? We will try. That is why there is a deputy governor. I have a deputy who is efficient and I will also from time to time go back to the state. But we need to deliver and we are all making sacrifices ?to deliver this change. I don’t know how people feel. The president and the federal government have not denied the fact that N2.3trillion was taken for oil subsidy and that was six months in 2011. Oil subsidy before that time was N300billion, so how did it rise to N2.3trillion and the people are not afraid? The federal government and all its agents were not afraid that N2.3trillion was taken. So, basically, I don’t mind what I can do legally to make sure that there is a better Nigeria. What about the controversy that you have not paid eight months salaries? Anybody who said I have not paid him salaries should come forward. We have paid up till December; you can call Rivers State to confirm. I got a Blackberry message on Tuesday, saying; “Thank God, we are going home with our salary before Christmas.” Payment of salaries What we agreed in the cabinet was that we should make sure that everybody goes home with his salary before Christmas because as a Christian, I know that December 23 and 24 are the two days that Christians like to shop. I do not owe salaries in Rivers State. I am proud to say that I will pay salaries until I leave office and I will continue to pursue development projects in the state. I was even surprised that the president’s spokesman even put it in one of his statements when he was responding to the accusation that the people who contributed to the N21billion are those plundering our economy and he said after all, Governor Amaechi funded the election of Buhari while he owes teachers eight months salary. And I asked the question, for you to be a presidential spokesman, facts and statistics must be on your palm; you shouldn’t joke with that. But the man was just reacting to gossip. What are Buhari’s programmes for Nigeria if he wins the 2015 election? The message is simple. Buhari chased away Maitasene while he was Head of State. Many Nigerians will remember that Maitasine was like Boko Haram and they were killing people in Borno and Kano and Buhari chased them away because he is a strong leader. Strong leader We need a strong leader now to chase away Boko Haram or it will chase us away. Buhari will deal with insurgency because he has done that before. Many Nigerians would remember that when Borno was attacked by Chadian rebels, Buhari as an officer of the Nigerian Army almost chased them into Ndjamena. He had crossed the Lake Chad when President Shehu Shagari called him back. If he didn’t do that, Borno would have been overrun by Chadian rebels and till today Chad has never crossed into Nigeria to fight us. It takes a strong leader to do that. We will deal with insurgency. The country may be broke now because of two factors. The first which is very critical is the diversion of funds at the NNPC. That is the greatest factor for me. The level of diversion in the NNPC has affected everybody including me. We will deal with power because if you don’t address it, you cannot tackle unemployment. The essential factor for industrialisation from elementary economics is power. So, when you hear that people in the power sector contributed N500 million for the president’s re-election, where did they get it? First, you must pay your bill every month whether you like it or not; whether you have power or not. People are now being forced to pay N75 every month whether they use power or not. So, they are being punished for not having power. How do you respond to the claim by the PDP that Buhari is a semi-illiterate jackboot? Our campaign will be issue-based. The president has a PhD in Zoology, how many farms do we have and how many people has he employed? If you say the president has a PhD and Buhari does not have one, let him show us his thesis. You are bringing yourself to the level of those who are making those allegations. Don’t bring yourself to that level, remain focused on the issues and let the president meet you there. Many have defected from the PDP to the APC and as soon as they move they become progressives. What exactly does the APC stand for and what is the ideology of the party? How many people would say that when I was in the PDP, I wasn’t a progressive? Those who left the PDP are the progressive wing of the party. Please tell me what else I need to do to become a progressive. The ideology of progressivism is about the people and I bother about them a lot. That is why there is free education in my state which is not part of the PDP manifestoes. While in the PDP, I introduced free education and health care. What else would I need to become a progressive? Those who studied at the University of Port-Harcourt will say that I have been a Marxist from my university days till today. APC stands for a progressive ideology and you can see that in our manifestoes. What is the assurance that Buhari will win the presidential election? The simple electoral arithmetic is that before the president had the South-south and Southeast 100 percent, but now there are problems for the PDP in Cross Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States. It wasn’t like that before. By this time the PDP would have been dancing but have you seen them doing so? When they were doing the Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria (TAN) rallies, I knew that it will get to this point. You have not seen the PDP dancing or doing any major campaign because there are problems everywhere. There is problem within the party in Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia States. So, it is no longer the same. The electoral map appears to have changed. If we go to the north, does the APC have problems in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and Sokoto? Did we have problem in Lagos State? No, it is the PDP that has problems in those states. So the political map has changed and that is why I believe that by God’s grace, Buhari and the APC will win. I am a Christian and I think positively. I am not from the north; I am not from the south. I am a Nigerian. I don’t believe in indigeneship, but in citizenship. Buhari will win the 2015 presidential election by God’s grace and he will also win because the political map does not favour the president anymore. In 2011, in the South-South and Southeast, we said he is our brother and now we are saying he is no longer our brother. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/jonathan-trouble-gov-amaechi/#sthash.5oLbmgp9.dpuf |
Indications emerged, weekend, that Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State had openly rejected the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. Although there had been speculations in the past that Lamido was unhappy with Jonathan over the way he had been treated by the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the president’s unfulfilled promises to the state, Lamido openly voiced his opposition to Jonathan’s candidacy at a PDP rally in Dutse on Saturday. Apparently to send Lamido’s message loud and clear to the Presidency, the event which was held at the state capital, was transmitted live via a private television station with national coverage. Again, to prove his anger against Jonathan, the organizers of the PDP event deliberately and carefully avoided displaying the President’s posters throughout the rally. On the other hand, the campaign posters of the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state and those of other contestants for the state and national elections were conspicuously and generously displayed. Besides, rather than await the President to present the flags to the PDP candidates as is the custom of the party, the governor went ahead to perform the event, apparently preventing Jonathan from performing the political tradition just before elections. None of the candidates canvassed for support for Jonathan throughout the rally, which was well attended by the members of the party in the state. Vanguard learnt from a top source in Dutse on Sunday that Lamido felt bitter and betrayed by both Jonathan and the PDP for not doing any tangible project in Jigawa State after he had risked his life and those of his family members to work for Jonathan’s victory in 2011. The source pointed out that the refusal or the inability of Jonathan to undertake any of the four key projects, which he openly promised the people during his 2011 campaign had pitted the governor against the political leaders and people of the state. President Jonathan, it was learnt, had promised to build a cargo airport in Dutse, rebuild broken federal roads abandoned in the state for over 20 years, construct a dam at Auyo and build a major waterworks in the capital, four promises yet to be fulfilled with less than two months to the next polls. It was also revealed out of the N15 billion spent by state government on the building of the Duste International Airport, which Jonathan commissioned on October 21 this year, the Federal Government had only chipped in less than a billion. A top source in the state confided in Vanguard that Lamido was being portrayed as a traitor by most of the citizens, who see him as supporting Jonathan for personal reasons but working against their interest. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/gov-lamido-moving-jonathan/#sthash.7czDXNjH.BjZDnd8h.dpuf |

THE former governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, has expressed regret that he supported Mr. Rotimi Amaechi to become the governor of the state in 2007. Odili said Amaechi dismantled the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party through his (Amaechi) defection to the All Progressives Congress. He explained that but for the quick intervention of a former Minister of State for Education and PDP governorship candidate in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, the party would have gone into oblivion. The ex-governor, who spoke on Saturday during Wike’s campaign tour in Ndoni Local Government Area on Saturday, said Amaechi worked against the PDP structure put in place by the founding fathers of the party. Odili pointed out that the PDP, in the past, supported Amaechi’s political career with good intentions, adding that he and the PDP had accepted their mistake and were poised to correct it in 2015. It was the first time the former governor would speak publicly on the strained relationship between him and incumbent governor. He said, “We thought we did the right thing by supporting Amaechi to become the governor of the state. We left a united state; we also left a united party. The PDP was one, Rivers State is the PDP. “There was no other party in Rivers State other than the PDP. Whatever the party hierarchy said would happen. The secretary is here to support what I am telling you here today. “With all the best intentions, we supported his political career and ambition. We thought we did what was best for the state. As you know, until a man has power and has money, you don’t really know him. “One thing is clear; we have accepted our mistake and we are determined to correct it in 2015. Who would have thought that a governor who won an election on the platform of the PDP would defect with the mandate of the party to another party? “Who would have thought that a governor elected on the platform of the PDP would abandon the PDP to join an opposition party? The elders of the party who are here can corroborate what I am saying here today. We ran a cohesive party. We had respect for the elders of the party. We had respect for party members.” Explaining that no member of the PDP attempted to hijack the party during his reign as the leader, Odili recalled that party officials respected elders during his days as the state governor. He, however, expressed gratitude to Wike for reuniting the PDP in the state immediately Amaechi defected to the APC, along with the former state chairman of the PDP, Chief Godspower Ake, his commissioners, his supporters and 22 out of the 23 local government chairmen. “I want to thank the governorship candidate of the PDP for the 2015 governorship election and the next governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, for miraculously rescuing the party from disintegration and working tirelessly to unite the members of the party. “By the special grace of God in February, we are going to the polls. The first election is to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term. The second election will be the governorship election where our candidate, Wike, will emerge as the next governor of Rivers State.” www.punchng.com/news/i-regret-supporting-amaechi-to-become-gov-odili-2/ |
Ahead of the 2015 general elections, Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has told the Independent National Electoral Commission that his Bachelors and Masters degrees certificates in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have been consumed by fire. Sambo, who is the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, made the declaration in the documents he filed with INEC and displayed on the commission’s officein Abuja although the details of the fire that consumed the certificates were not given. Sambo’s papers were received and stamped in INEC headquarters between December 10 and 18, 2014. The VP’s declaration was validated by two letters from the ABU, a copy of which was obtained by The PUNCH on Sunday. The first letter, signed by one Alhassan Garba for the institution’s registrar under the title, “To Whom it may Concern: Mohammed Namani Sambo,” read, “I certify that the above-named person having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations was awarded the Bachelor of Science (Architecture) with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in 1976 by the Senate of this University. His original certificate got burnt. Please treat his case in view of this certification. Thank you.” The second letter, also signed by Garba for the ABU registrar, read, “I certify that the above-named person having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations was awarded the Master of Science (Architecture) on May 25, 1978 by the Senate of this University. His original certificate got burnt. Please treat his case in view of this certification. Thank you.” www.punchng.com/news/my-certificates-consumed-by-fire-sambo-tells-inec/ |
