Hi guys, after much applications for remote customer service jobs, I got a positive feedback from a company. Fully remote. They want me to start immediately but the draw back is that its just a 3 months fixed contract. I don't know if it's okay to quit my full time care job for this one. And I don't know what will happen afterwards.
missjekyll: As at yesterday out of 4000 British Citizens who have reached out to be evacuated, only 536 had been evacuated, 3500 left behind to the tender mercies of other countries. We have to beg for space on other countries planes. We should be airlifting them together with their families before ceasefire ended which is what other countries are doing but we failed them. Mehn Unthinkable things are now commonplace under the Tories. We are now once again the sick man of Europe. Terrible
This information is false. As of yesterday the government said more than 1500 British Citizens have been evacuated. The last plane left yesterday. The demand was very low because most have been evacuated. Aside citizens, the government had to accept NHS clinical staff to fill up the space.
We are too quick to believe negative things about the UK and destructively criticise a country that opened its border to us when other Western countries tightened their borders and our birth country failed us.
Canada, USA and Australia have their fare share of challenges but its always seem to be greener on the other side
idee91: Keep checking and applying on CV library and indeed. Filter for remote roles, and try apply to customer service advisor roles in banks like Lloyd’s, HSBC, Barclays. They usually have fully remote roles. You can also register with recruiting agencies like Blue Arrows and AMS solutions who recruit for some of this corporate Orgs. The key is to tailor your CV as much as possible and keep applying.

Dappy25: You can consider looking for Customer Service roles, this is probably one of the office jobs that's easier to get in the UK when you don't have much UK experience. I got 3 job offers at once in January. Some of these roles can be fully remote which would help you work from home and be with your kids. You can search for Customer Service Advisor/Representative on Indeed. Try to apply to jobs that are hiring multiple people, you stand a better chance this way, also tailor your CV to the role.
As for your long term career, data analysis is in demand you can try get part time volunteer jobs to build your UK experience.

Goke7: The UK job market is an experienced-based market, it's either you look for jobs tailored to your experience back in Nigeria or you decide to start a new career path by going for graduate or entry roles that require no experience to start. Good thing you are not looking for sponsored visa jobs for now so this is my personal advice, I have been seeing large companies like Lloyds bank advertising for entry-level business analyst roles, which they call apprentice Business analyst roles, I have also seen another Large company known as Legal & General advertised same, so check out things like that and apply. Apprenticeship roles as Business analysts, Data analysts, and others are a good way to go, for 12 or 24 months or so they will train while you work, with this you have solved the UK experience-ish barrier and you can move on from there. Good luck, so target large organisations for apprentice roles.
Just to add, salary amount should not be your problem now as this is where our people are missing it. Your priority is to define your career path and integrate fast into the Uk system
Jcole123: Hi guys, I am in the UK as a Skilled Worker dependent. My wife is an healthcare assistant in a care home. I also work 48hrs a week shift in the same care home with my wife. I work 4nights, she works 4days. Been in the uk now for 6months with our kids. (1year and 3years old). Aside this care work, what else can I do? I worked as a process engineer in Nigeria and I also did some personal trainings on data analysis (still learning).
What other jobs can I do aside care bearing in mind I have little kids to look after. How do I build a career path with my current situation.
