Interested, is it in Lagos? |
I tried Stadia and Xcloud with Nord VPN and Pure VPN, Stadia did not work, and Xcloud had terrible lag. What ISP do you use? |
Do you play Pokemon Go? |
Anybody here play Nintendo games online? Super Mario Maker 2, Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and other Switch games. Here is a discord server to help find local people to play. https://discord./3mhT9tp |
sacluxisback:12 terabytes is a lot, but this Glo 2 map says the connection is from Lagos to somewhere off the coast of Calabar. This is like MTN laying fiber from Lagos to Kogi and calling a press conference about it. It would be more impressive if the announcement was that they increased the capacity of Glo1(Lagos to London) to 12 terabytes for it's current ~1 terabyte(info on this is sketchy) This doesn't really change anything for the average Glo user. Their terrestrial fiber network already covers most of these areas. This is for Oil Companies mostly. |
They are out of beta, and have launched on the Play store. Please check them out. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.MightyBuzzWords&hl=en |

They will not be Ipads, they will be android tablets. If you could give some input into how these tablets should be configured, what would you suggest. |
I just swapped my Wimax Modem for the LTE modem. So far, so good. Check out speed test below. The say they will double all the current data limits, and there will be no speed cap. I am really impressed with the upload speed. https://www.speedtest.net/result/3017650278.png Another one https://www.speedtest.net/result/3017688074.png |
Swift has launched their LTE service. I just picked up my modem and the speed test results are below. If you have their modem, you can head to their office to upgrade. That upload speed is crazy . The guy I spoke to said there is no speed cap.https://www.speedtest.net/result/3017650278.png Another one https://www.speedtest.net/result/3017688074.png |
It looks like I was off by only 7 months. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/spectranet-launches-4g-lte-wireless-internet-services/156910/ Has anyone tried this? |
Using a small ISP in Lagos called Tizeti, Unlimited download for N8,500. They just started operating in Dolphin Estate. https://www.speedtest.net/result/2838715188.png |
Your best bet might be emulators. You can get two cheap USB gamepads, and output the video to a TV using a VGA cable. I would suggest Znes for Super Nintendo and Kega Fusion for sega. |
Swift looks to be the latest ISP trying to get into the LTE space. Responding to questions as to why DoPC had to be acquired in spite of the progress it had made over the years, retaining its position as a leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the country, Sadhwani said its business was sold in good fate, to enable it move into the LTE technology, which is an emerging technology.http://kaaf.com/2013/06/SWIFT-Networks-Acquires-DoPC-Begins-Customers-Migration-380236 |
It looks like Smile Has launched it's LTE Service in Ibadan. THeir prices can be found here: http://www.smile.com.ng/~smileuga/pages/services/data-bundles.php It doesn't look too bad, but One has no Idea what the speed is like. If anyone has this in Ibadan, a speedtest would be appreciated. |
This problem was raised when the phone was initially released. Lots of reviewers said it took terrible low light pictures. However, the first update pushed out by blackberry dealt with a lot of issued raised by users, and this was one of them. Blackberry claims to have improved the phones ability to take pictures in low light situations. My question is are you running the latest Blackberry 10 software. I am not saying it will make it the best in the world, but it should give a better sense of where the phone currently ranks. |
Does anybody have the 3G network specification(theoretical maximum upload and download)for the four major GSM operators? I have an Idea about all the downloads, but I'm not sure about all the uploads. What I know Glo download 3.6 Mbps with a few 7.2 Mbps Upload ![]() MTN download 3.6/7.2 Mbps Upload ![]() Airtel download 42 Mbps Upload ![]() Etisalat download 42 Mbps Upload ![]() Thanks |
Spectranet don fall my hand, I'm hearing they will now launch in July. Meanwhile, www.smile.com.ng . Anyone have any info on these guys? It looks like they are launching in Ibadan. Apparently NCC has barred new ISP entrants from launching in Lagos until they have launched in 3 other cities. |
@purplekayc Broad access has no data cap, and I don't think there is any Fair Usage Policy. That's not surprising considering glo1 and the fact that it's a wired connection. |
@purplekayc c. Broadband Internet Plans 256/64 - N5,000 512/256 - N7,500 1024/512 - N20,000 2048/1024 - N40,000 This is from the middle of last year, prices might have changed. |
@samir101ng, I feel you, all na wash. From a purely academic point of view however, I think this is important. When the guy told me about Spectranet going LTE, I was excited to hear what sort of speed we would be dealing with. He told me the service would still be capped at 2Mbps. I could have slapped his face when I heard that, but he explained to me that new technology doesn't simply raise the ceiling, it also raises the floor. What I mean is that yeah it's capped at 2Mbps, but with LTE you are more likely to actually acheive the 2Mbps speed most of the time. The base station can handle about 6 times more connections at a time. He also said they would offer 2Mbps down and up, and that there would be better latency. Most people don't care about upload, but it is very important and 2Mbps up is very very good. He essentially said that it would not in the short term increase the speed, but it would increase the quality. Don't quote me on any of this though, things might change before they launch. I was hoping some Spectranet folks would come and hype their product here. I have looked into it online, and the networks in SA are doing 20-30Mbps on average. While this is nothing compared to that, it is still good to see us progress. |
Anyone? |

Spoke to a few people that work with spectranet, and they are saying the company is ready to deploy the first LTE network in Nigeria ![]() |
. The guy I spoke to said there is no speed cap.
