I pray that he will have what it takes to restore the GLORY of Nigeria, that God will grant him wisdom to use a long spoon when eating with the devils of this great country, that he will be bold enough to tackle the security problem in our Nation. That his 4yrs will be known for progress, peace and unity.that he will be bold enough to confront those devils who do not want power in Nigeria so that they can continue to draw us back in darkness.I pray that, TO BE CONTINUED |
By Steve McClaren Former England manager & BBC Radio 5 live pundit at Old Trafford Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has the perfect opportunity to avenge the 2009 Champions League final defeat by Barcelona - but he must get his tactics absolutely spot on if he wants to lift the trophy for the third time in his managerial career. And inevitably, the key to victory is how United deal with Lionel Messi, along with Sergio Busquets. In 2009, Samuel Eto'o, who normally played centre forward, started on the right while Messi theoretically played centre forward. Only he didn't play up front, he played in midfield. It left centre-backs Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand marking nobody with Barcelona totally outnumbering Manchester United in central midfield. Michael Carrick was totally lost that night - he didn't know whether to pick up Messi, Andres Iniesta or Xavi Hernandez as Barcelona took total control of midfield. United will have to consider that prospect once again should Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola adopt the same tactic at Wembley. How would Vidic and Ferdinand cope second time around? Barcelona hardly ever pass the ball more than 10 yards to a team-mate. The great Johan Cruyff, who won 11 trophies in an illustrious career as Barcelona manager, told me something very interesting during a visit to FC Twente when I was manager there. Phil McNulty's blog Continue reading the main story United must decide whether to stick or twist against Barcelona at Wembley Read more from Phil's blog He said: "Do you know how Barcelona win the ball back so quickly? It's because they don't have to run back more than 10 metres as they never pass the ball more than 10 metres." They are always so close to the ball. To counteract this, Manchester United need to play at a high tempo, to beat the press and get at the Barca back four. In the first 10 minutes of the 2009 final they did this very well, playing at a high tempo and matching their opponents' work-rate. They pressed so high, Barcelona were practically inside their own box, forcing them to abandon their game of neat passes in favour of longer balls. But Barcelona eventually found a way around the United press and once they do that, the doubts begin to creep into the opposition's minds. Some United players pressed, some didn't and from that moment on, they were lost. The key is staying compact, no matter if the back four is on the edge of the box or the half-way line. Inter Milan did something similar by staying compact and pressuring as a team in last season's semi-final victory. For me, the key player United have to stop is Busquets. I've looked at the passing statistics and Busquets has the ball more than any other Barcelona player, even more than Xavi and Iniesta. And the key man for United here will be Wayne Rooney, who could play as a "semi-midfield" player behind Javier Hernandez with the responsibility of "dropping in" on Busquets when he has the ball. Continue reading the main story United must follow Arsenal's example and play a high defensive line, keep compact, deny space and attempt to hit Barcelona on the quick transition Steve McClaren When Sir Alex has given Rooney that added responsibility but he isn't playing with the discipline Sir Alex wants, the manager moves him to the left and shifts Ryan Giggs into that number 10 position because the experienced winger has more discipline, control and intelligence to execute that role. Rooney is quickly learning from that. I watched him closely in the Champions League quarter-final matches against Chelsea when he pressurised Michael Essien and stopped him playing as United dominated the midfield. That was the intelligence and discipline that Rooney needs to play in that number 10 position to stop Busquets from dictating play. The other way United can beat Barcelona is on the transition [the break], something they do very well with the dual threat of Hernandez and Rooney. Barcelona's defence are vulnerable to a fast counter-attack - Arsenal nearly scored a vital goal with 10 men at the Nou Camp with a Nicklas Bendtner chance on the transition. United must follow Arsenal's example and play a high defensive line, keep compact, deny space and attempt to hit Barcelona on the quick transition, that five or six seconds from one end to the other. They have to be brave - Arsenal were risky and nearly did it. Manchester United can do it. Steve McClaren was speaking on BBC Radio 5 live. |

BY JIMITOTA ONOYUME Port Harcourt, just like any other state in the Niger Delta region where President Jonathan hails from, is already agog ahead of the swearing- in ceremony tomorrow. President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan is a ‘Port Harcourt boy’, which is a slang reserved for successful adults that have lived a larger part of their growing up in Port Harcourt. Until 1998 when he relocated to Bayelsa state for active politics , Jonathan shared a twin three bedroom flat apartment at N0 6, Terama road off Aboloma with Pastor Power Ziakedi Aginighan. They were both pioneer Assistant Directors in the defunct OMPADEC. Recalling old memories, Power Aginighan who is now the Executive Director Finance and Administration, of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC said President Jonathan was a complete gentleman who showed no sign of any interest in politics. “He was everything that was not political.“ Aginighan said the two families enjoyed every moment they shared together as neighbours. Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi During his first visit to the state as President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Jonathan said much about his stay in Port Harcourt when he told the large crowd that turned out to welcome him at the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports complex, Port Harcourt that he had lived a better part of his life in the state. He said that in spite of the creation of Bayelsa state from the old Rivers state, most Bayelsans still live in the state and he would continue to see himself as someone from the state. During his campaign, he repeated it but this time he added colour to it when he told South South delegates of his party in Government House, Port Harcourt before the presidential primaries of his party that he was a ‘Port Harcourt boy’. The state did not disappoint Jonathan as the people gave him the highest vote in the last presidential election.Governor Chibuike Amaechi and former Minister of External Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia were among those that worked round the clock to secure victory for Jonathan in that election. The people voted across party lines. Most of those in the Action Congress of Nigeria and several other parties from the state voted for Jonathan. They saw him as one of them. Some of them who spoke to the Saturday Vanguard on Jonathan’s presidency said it was as good as saying that a Rivers man is in power. They prayed God almighty to grant him the wisdom, courage and all he would need to govern the Nigerian federation. Before Jonathan, the farthest any one from the Delta region had attained in terms of political power at the centre was a Vice President during the military. Admiral Augustus Aikhomu was Vice to former President Ibrahim Babangida between 1986 to 1993 while Vice Admiral Mike Akhigbe held a similar position under the brief tenure of former Head of State, Abdusallami Abubarkar, 1998 _ 1999. Jonathan has broken that jinx. Not many thought that a President of the country could emerge from the region at this time given the region’s numerical strength. Democracy as the saying goes is a game of number. The region’s population is not half of some section of the north. So, it was a miracle for many that it could happen at this time. Jonathan is standing in the eyes of history. For many, his presidency has some level of divinity. He is not new to the challenges in the region. As one who went to St Stephen Primary School, now, State School Otuoke and St Michael Primary school, Oloibiri and also Maiter Dei High school Imiringi , he certainly would have good knowledge of the pains and plight of the people of the area. It is strongly hoped that his presidency would take a very significant step in tackling these challenges. It would set the standard for subsequent political leadership in the country. How Jonathan handles these challenges of the region will go a long way in determining how others will go about it. Ledum Mittee, speaking on his expectation from Jonathan’s presidency urged him to immediately dust up the recommendations of the Niger Delta Technical Committee for action. The document should not be allowed to continue to gather dust. Mittee had argued repeatedly that the document is the road map to enduring peace in the Niger Delta region. Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi added his voice to this debate recently when he called on the federal government to make efforts to identify the issues that informed security challenges in the region and endeavour to tackle them from the root. Expectations are high as people of the South -South celebrate the first among them to be President of the country. They hope that Jonathan’s presidency will set the pace for genuine development of the Niger Delta. |

You might not have noticed but this is the truth people are beginning to discover his tricks that are coated with charity. Do you know he is very much unpopular in lagos, his head quarters in a lagosian told me that any lagosian who visits T.B Joshua's synagogue went to swell his account, that can't we see that all their testimonies are outside lagos or Nig.Do you know his prophesies are now falling on deaf ears? |
It was meant to be a secret but it has become an open secret and every one is ready to fight back. |
Because of the way the Nigerian Military handled the Presidential Election aftermath violence. The islamic extremist of the CPC decided they would stage a come back war against the christian who strongly resisted them before the security operatives came for the peace keeping. And those who felt they were above the law and could fight the soldiers and confronted them, were shot at site. Because the casualities were more of CPC muslims they have decided to stage a come back come 29th May in Zaria and environs.Right now security operatives have retreated.May be for a later return who knows. |
Obama--Osama does it strike something? |
You can run but you cant hide, |
I think his death will be widely praised in the west but little in the Arab Nations because some see him as a Jihadist and fighting the cause of Islam. I think also that his death is not the end of Alqaeda instead America should be ready for a long war.It will be like the reaction of a wounded lion. I also think that Obama will politicise Osama's death for political gains.Especially for his reelection. What do you think? |
It is all due to the deep rooted illiteracy in the north, In fact the north glory in illiteracy. |
