Hi Candylips I have been following some of ur posts and admired the intelligence and career counsellor approach in them. From what i've seen, u seem to be someone with a background in IT who is either into finance or developing financial systems. something i want to do. I studied comp science and has had experience developing small financial systems e.g risk mgt for asset managers, unit trusts management systems etc. I just finished NYSC sep 08 and currently work in the IT dept of an investment bank. I also noticed u are/have finished doing CFA (Wish u success and God's favor). Please hope i wouldn't be asking much if i ask for ur email address or phone. i wanted to talk to u privately about my career path and prospects because so far i seem to be in d line of what i think u are doing. U said u head the software group of a multinational coy and thats great. @poster don't doubt this, u need to go to university Naija or Abroad. I used to be a script kiddie too. but i went to uni. while in uni i combined my notes with MIT's Opencourseware and it helped me for some lecturers who didn't have the "give me my note back/cram to pass" mentality. Most people i know would not respect an IT guy who didn't go to uni. Studying computer science makes u get more respect . I have seen software vendors who don't know how to analyse or conceptualise and yet they are programmers. i found out that most did not go to uni. so u see why u might be placed in that category. i am surprised when people say the curriculum is outdated. for me it needs slight modifications. check curriculum of foreign schools and see that d difference is not much. computer science is not software engineering. though computer science is among the knowledge areas needed to succeed in software engineering. One guy in school said we should be taught oracle and Visual basic and that surprised me because these vendor specific technologies come and go and need not be part of a curriculum. Concepts is what counts. Courses like data structures, finite automata, digital circuit design, database design, software engineering, design and analysis of algorithms are very important. Java or c++ should be used to teach object oriented concepts. u shuld make sure u do lots of programming and database while in school. trust me u will have time for it. but don't cut classes much as it dealt me a great blow and i couldn't make a 1st class. i see u to be an intelligent young chap. and please don't take NIIT or Aptech or Karrox to be a Uni even if they have affiliations with a Uni. There is so much to learn from passing through a uni campus outside curriculum. as A40 rightly pointed out. Bill gates was not technically a drop out. candylips i am waiting for ur response |
i don't know how to generalize on these few statistics but what i know is that good men are out there. It depends on your definition of good though. I for one think me a good man by my standards. the things i don't like however is this women must struggle to keep their homes. When i go drinking with my guys, u see some of the married ones staying late and talking crap. If u tell me that it is because d wife is boring then i would disagree telling u it is because d man is irresponsible. some guys don't grow up to married life but expect d ladies to do that. Maybe i am saying this because i am still unmarried sha. But what i think is that my wife and I shuld struggle to keep the home and not just her alone. It isn't fair for me to be drinking and philandering because me think me wife boring |
i don't know what u peeps think but i found out that such childish, playful lines like what poster dropped usually work. |
St. Ignatius of Loyola. How i love his prayers |
Nii was d best Inyanya was also good then i love praise's lyrics and his composure. However i knew nigerians would not fancy his gentle style of music. i don't understand dis annette is d best thing. she didn't look good enough to win it at all. |
u don't know how terrible rape is until u see one. it is so demeaning. d girl trusts u so much that she told u. if i were in ur shoes my love for her would increase as sincerity is very appealing to me. meanwhile those of us who crticize him especially d ladies shuld also ask ourselves what would would do if that were to happen to our man. e.g. if ur boyfriend was disgraced and stripped naked ion public. |
@poster Why is it that most guys say that thy hate ugly girls? Why is it that most girls say that thy hate broke guys? Is it the girl's fault that she is ugly? Is it the guy's fault that he is broke? Why would u condemn someone mainly on the basis of looks? Why would u condemn someone mainly on the basis of pocket rate? Is good looks all that matters? Is money all that matters? What ever happened to character? Why don't you ever want to date an ugly person? Why don't you ever want to date a broke person? Would u still love me when i'm no longer beautiful? Would u still love me when i'm no longer rich? WHY? WHY? WHY? Why guys? let's hear u Why ladies? let's hear u |
Virginity/Chastity is what everybody shuld desire. For those who have lost theirs, no hating and definitely no guilt, as for those who have theirs intact. Find out why u are holding on to it. if for moral principles/no sex b4 marriage then lovely. if u are holding it to give to mr. romeo/right then u are better of losing it. meanwhile virgin due to circumstance has no virtue. i mean a guy who has never had the opportunity of getting ladies to f**k is a virgin by circumstance. Same 4 d lady. wait o, D guy could have gone to an obalende brothel so , ![]() |
I don't advise ladies to verbally do it. some nigerian men including me might not deal with it well o. even if i would not hurt d girl. i would still have this feeling of "hey she is d one chasing' |
and d guy would also have his backup plan just in case u go with ur backup plan at the slightest unfounded suspicion. When would trust be a virtue people long for? |
Fellow Nigerians why don't we call a spade a spade. In as much as we can't prove 100% that d girl is playing poster. However i think it is wrong and disrespectful for her to make incessant midnight calls and excuse herself to make/receive them. Ladies, how would u feel if it was ur man making those calls to ladies in the middle of the night and telling u he is more comfortable with girls than guys. what is not proper is not proper. forget playing or not playing. |
women do not neccesarily have to verbally toast men. unless a lady is inexperienced, there are over a 1000 body language signs to make known her feelings for a guy without feeling rejected afterwards. Check out KarmaSutra. Poster might simply have been friends with d guy but fantasized abt him. |
fame d i am planning to apply there for a masters in information systems but my application will be for next year. I have this problem with lack of work cos I'm really interested in work/study as i don't have enough money to support myself while there. Also i heard u would be showing bank statements of an account with over 1 million naira. How are (or will) you be able to go past such hurdles |
Great. i am a die hard rock fan. favorite genres are Punk, Alternative and Pop-rock. favourite artists are simple plan, hoobastank, Nickelback, Avri etc. I don't have an extraordinary voice but i am good at writing songs and i want to learn to play the guitar. Any which way sha i love the idea |
i am a bit occupied and want to save the time i would have spent drawing from the scratch i never new toad does it. let me check it out first Thanks |
can anyone help me with a tool i can use to auto-generate a database diagram/model from an oracle database. I am doing some process modeling and in automating this process, i have to document database. models in form of diagrams |
i have not received anything yet |
what is the name and date and can u send it to jeffman_co@yahoo.com |
I am not up to 3 months old in this forum. Now i think the first problem is to lack of separate personality of seun and moderator. we are asked what we hate about the moderator but u see most of the attacks being on seun's personality. Now, there could be more than one moderator to allow for unbiased moderation unless seun wants to personalise the forum. Also, a forum is not about programming (though i design forums) it is about people. I don't give seun credit for the programming (being a programmer myself). I give him credit for his idea and the marketing in it to bring so much members to this forum A webmaster is much different from a moderator I think seun can make more money from this site but he seems to be someone who wants to be remembered more for his effect than for his money. my type of person At 24, i think seun is not immature but i think he has this robot-like personality which i used to have. most software coders do seun can be very biased at times but he has a right to be biased. only the moderator shouldn't be which is why i clamor for a separation of roles/personalities i think seun is a bit full of himself and like a previous poster pointed out, he should not make any assumptions about forum posters or assume superior knowledge on issues i don't think nairaland will stop but since a forum is about people then if people still keep feeling aggrieved over banning and things like that, they could form some competition to nairaland by starting other forums. i would say more later but above all i love seun a lot and this forum has been a blessing to many people. i don't really know how to hate cos i can be too understanding |
vivienne, please can you tell me the materials and training you used. I am looking to write mine soon but i want to make sure i am preparing with the best materials. thanks. congratulations on your success.hope mine will be equally successful |
men it is like that netweaver is the future of SAP from a technical perspective. One SAP Career expert John Reeds actually advised people to go into functional areas like MM, FICO etc. He howeversaid for people with technical background, Netweaver is the way to go |
which sap module/modules would you advise one to study considering job placements in Nigeria first then abroad |
please i need help here i have just bought actualtests brain dumps for the oracle 1z0-042 exam. but i found out that the difference b/w the feb 2006 version and the mar 2007 version is just two additional questions. i had wanted a past question like stuff to use for revision. The one i bought does not even have the new topics for the release two recently added (Since nov 2006). I want something that will give me something like the real exam questions. I have read the sybex 1z0-142 book and i have done some practice. What do i really need to pass this exam. |
Thanks everyone. @tee zero thank u. i'll call him. I had thought it would be possible to do self study and maybe practice to understand SAP. |
@babasin. I would like to join the meeting. when is the date and venue. i am currently doing pre-nysc with a financial house as an IT Support Staff and i am preparing for my 1z0-042 exam. i am a rookie in unix and linux. my firm actually procured some IBM servers with an AIX OS and i am really keen on learning oracle especially on unix. Your way of encouragement and positive thinking is unprecedented and i am grateful as others out there are too. I also hope to get abroad to work. Maybe india, uk, us or canada |
