@oj: when u told me over d phone that u were discouraged by the response of sm1 on d forum, I never knew this was the issue. U don't have to go all d way replyn justwise. He might have been victim of circumstance for online scams n so on. I have met some viewers of these forums in person and I am happy I could help. Yes. He can change POE. All he needs to do is to make sure he has a complete and valid address of the host before getting to the POE since that is where his GF would arrive. If an apt, make sure d apt num is included.

I am also a part time job consultant and I help ppl in Dallas area secure jobs in banks, etc. I would not encourage anyone to settle for less when u can earn more. Social Security Number (aka Sola Sola) is a 9 digit number the US system uses as a unique identification for everyone. Eg. There might be 10 people named John Doe and 5 of the John Does have the same date of birth. If everything about them is the same, the only unique thing is the SSN. Just like DL number but it is more of a private thing.
If you want to do anything in the US, you need your SSN.
Work ---- SSN
School ---SSN
Other IDs --- SSN
Loan ----- SSN
Background Check ---SSN

You don't laminate your SSN. You keep it in a safe place. You only need to take it around when you want to go for a job application/loan/school/background check/interview.
Infact, it is your primary non-picture Identification that you should keep private. It is like a password. Whoever you give it to can access much information of you as he wants. You must memorize it off head like your phone number but you dont give it out to "just anyone". However, new comers to the USA go extreme over this SSN such that they refuse to give a potential employer the SSN when requested which make them lose a potential offer. Most employers (typically recruiters from agencies and companies) ask for your SSN while you are going through an interview on the phone or while you are filling their secured form online. At that point, I will advise you give them since they are going to run a light background check on you before offering you a job.


Like a friend says: keep your SSN to yourself but be wise about it.
