Thanks for this vicole, safe delivery vcole: Hello everyone. I landed last month in Calgary. Its been a struggle trying to post because I've been quite busy but i'll try to share my experience thus far. I have a toddler and I am currently pregnant so we decided not to take a direct flight from Nigeria. We flew medview to London and spent a couple of days there then flew air canada to Calgary. Medview........let's just say that would be the first and last time we would fly them. They were totally disorganized at the Lagos airport in terms of checking in passengers and there was so much uproar which ended up in the flight being delayed by over an hour. However, the aircraft we used was quite large and the leg room in economy was quite spacious and they made up for all the drama with the food which was quite savoury especially if you have a taste for Nigerian cuisine....they had fried and jollof rice (fried rice wasn't great at all, jollof was nice), pounded yam and egusi, amala and ewedu. The pilot more than made up for the delayed departure by landing us in Gatwick only 5 mins later than schedule. Down sides - no in flight entertainment.
Air Canada was good. Aircraft was lovely, in flight entertainment, cabin crew and meals were lovely as well. They are also kid friendly and leg room was good. Flight was smooth until landing which became quite turbulent due to the weather. Flight duration was 8.5 hrs.
At YYC, it took about 20-30 mins to get from the aircraft, go through immigration and pick up our baggage. Then we headed to the department that handles landing and had to wait for about 2hrs before it got to our turn. We landed on a Sunday so I don't know if that was the reason for the long wait. However, I realized that if one of us went to that department and took a number while the other picked up the bags, it would have accelerated things a bit as that was what some people did. Landing took about 5-10 mins.
We had booked a hotel nearby to stay for the first night and they sent us a pick up at the airport. We had found an apartment 2 months earlier on rentfaster.ca and a friend had helped view it and pay a deposit on our behalf and we were to sign the lease which was to start the day after our arrival. We had intended to rent a car the next day, go to meet with the landlord at our apartment, inspect and sign the lease then go get a few necessities since the apartment was unfurnished. However, come morning we realized that we couldn't rent a car because we required a credit card which we did not have. Let's just say things started getting a bit frustrating from that point on..........mostly because moving around is expensive by uber or cabs and although where we live has a good transit system, moving around with a toddler and a bump ism't exactly a glass of wine but oh well, so far so good. Lesson to be learnt - land with a functional credit card and plan to rent a car or buy one as soon as you can especially if you have a family. Then proceed to commence the process for obtaining a drivers license for the province in which you reside.
As regards documentation, we got everything done in the first week...health cards, social insurance numbers, etc. It isn't a complicated process at all.
My impression of Canada (through the eyes of Calgary) thus far........Its a diverse community and most people are pleasant. They make eye contact with you and converse easily. No one has a problem understanding you if you speak proper English with your Nigerian accent. Everyone we have met or spoken to on the phone always always ask you how to correctly pronounce your name and usually get it on the first or second try. Calgary seems lovely to me, the kind of place I would like to raise my kids in.
A few things I have learnt thus far......mobile data plans zap at the speed of light here. Getting a home internet is a huge help in that regard. The weather is actually good this time of year. Child care is expensive so for families with preschoolers, factor that in as a top priority. |

Ok thanks, no issue with Endorser, just wanted to have an idea if processing has starting, I'll just be patient and wait for the 12 days specified Ehrnie: No, but who knows? It could be a case of random selection.
Do you have issues with then contacting your endorser? If that's the case, it's safer to get another endorser then. My two cents. |

Also does the health card cover a new PR expecting a baby, if not what's the estimated out of pocket costs

For 3) You can use a 2nd bank statement or letter from your Dr on hospital letterhead stating your name, address and that you are registered with the hospital Penluv: Hello Guys,
Thanks for the quick response and guidiance you provide, but i must say the more i read, the more it gets hard to graps what next to do.

I suggest he gets an Affidavit saying both names are the same person, if birth certificate has same name it can also be attached and an LOE saying it's an abbreviated name he used. Pls note that his USA visa denial should be declared even though he is not using the passport veleta: Good morning everyone. Please my brother used to bear Ifeanyi but noticed that his B SC bears Ifeanyichukwu. He had to get a new passport to reflect that. My question is,since he clicked on yes in the post ITA form that he used another name before, what convincing reason can he use for the reason for the name change? I believe he would make use of LOE for this. Thanks guys
NB: He used his old passport to apply for US visa and was denied visa. He has gotten a new passport now. |

I appreciate, will do that. 40manlappy: Welcome sis. One more thing: maybe you should get the reference letter for visa application from your employer first before asking your supervisor to roll out a reference letter. This will enable you to ensure that basic information on the former such as annual pay aligns with the former. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by jenny3(f): 11:35am On Apr 17, 2017 |
Thanks a lot 40manlappy: My suggestions:
-Get your supervisor to write a reference letter for you on a plain paper and get it notarized. You can search for a sample on this thread. It should include his office email, phone numbers and designation. Add his complimentary card to it.
-Apply for a normal reference letter for visa application in favour of High Commission of Canada from your HR. It should contain some basic information about you like grade, annual pay, etc
-You can add your appointment, confirmation, promotion and other relevant letters. Include your job description documents, payslips, and/or your salary account statement.
-Support the above with a LOE stating that your employer does not issue the required letter and the documents that you have provided in lieu of this.
CIC may confirm but I don't think you have anything to worry about since your documents are legit. |

Happy Easter everyone, hope we are enjoying the holiday. Please I need guidance to help me decide how to go about getting work reference letter from my current employer. Because I don't intend to relocate immediately, I wouldn't like my employer to be aware of my intention so I plan on using my past promotion letters which indicate my job title and salary, in addition to job description documents of my roles and possibly a reference letter stating current role, length of service and salary for purpose of visit.
If anyone is in a similar position, how are you going about it and do you consider above will be a good alternative, also does CIC contact employer directly to confirm letters provided |

Big congrats freeradical: Finally so this ITA reach me... Praise be to God. This Canada journey really requires a lot of patience. I started the process since April 2016. By August I entered d pool and my score was 433. I gave up all hope. If I took anoda ielts and maxed out with my spouse it will only fetch me additional 10 pts. I just had a believe that scores will fall. I even applied for SINP twice but was deemed ineligible because of NOC not in demand. I was always with mixed feelings whenever people fill dis thread with excitement on getting ITA. Thank God today I finally got mine.
After I lost 5pts on my birthday in February I felt another urge to retake ielts. I just decided to chill until June to see how d draws play out. I was gutted when scores moved up from 434 to 441 after a 3+weeks interval in March. Was surprised when I opened this thread this morning to see that there has been another ITA deluge and the cut off was 423.
For all those who have endured this long wait like me for ITA I say congratulations. In d end our efforts didn't go to waste. For those still in the pool just hang in there. Do your best to maximize your points and stay hopeful. Canada is going to fulfill all our dreams....Remain blessed pple! |

Thanks a lot, really appreciate Ehrnie: Hi -
Once all you forms are completed, a personalised checklist is generated. As mentioned earlier, personalized checklist is dynamic and some of the entries in the list change based on the information that you have provided in the previous sections of e-APR e.g work experience letters. When you have gathered all documents that were requested in your Personalized Checklist, you should upload them using the "upload file" tab in your Document checklist page. Note that document upload section comes towards the end of the e-APR submission process and allows for only 1 file to be uploaded for each section. So if you have multiple documents that pertain to the same section, then you should scan and merge your documents into 1 file.
Once you have uploaded all requested documents, the system will take you to pages related to Declaration, Disclosure and Electronic signature. "Agree" to the Declaration, Disclosure and Electronic signature pages and you will see a table with summary of fees that you need to pay for your e-APR. You have two hours to complete the payment. You can pay your fees using Visa, American Express or Mastercard credit card.
All the best! |

In summary once you get ITA your age score is fixed. No further action is required from you. In the ITA letter received below was included Note: If you had a Birthday since we sent out this invitation and the change to your age decreases your points total, this will not cause us to refuse your application for Permanent residence Spatz81: ▼ Exemption to section A11.2: candidates whose birthday occurs after they receive an ITA
An applicant may have a birthday after they receive an ITA but before they submit their e-APR. Their change in age may lower their CRS score below the lowest score in the round of invitations. It may also result in the applicant no longer meeting the minimum requirements of the FSWC and, consequently, no longer meeting the MEC, resulting in a refusal based on section A11.2.
When a change in age results in the candidate no longer meeting the MEC or having their recalculated CRS points score fall below the lowest points score in that round of invitations, officers should consider applying the public policy to exempt applicants for permanent residence from certain age-based requirements between invitation to apply and application, based on section A25.2. This consideration can result in an exemption from the refusal of an application under section A11.2.
This public policy also grants an exemption to applicants who may be refused for failing to meet FSWC program requirements when their birthday occurs between the ITA and e-APR
My people what is this trying to say or implying ? |

olugere: Congratulations, Can you share your point. 1. Did you have family in canada which give you more point 2. Did you study in Canada which give u more point 3. Did you work in Canada before which give you more point 4. Did you get job offer from canada which give you more point 5. Did you get province nomination which give you more point. Because all these are points
Reason for asking
Is just that all theses above I do not have, that is the reason I refuse to take IELTS exam because I know with absence of the above point I may not meet 400+
Pls based on your point and document, do you think I have a chance of getting 400+ with condition below.
I am man 36years age + 6 years work experience in NOC A class job.( gas turbine operation, power station) B.ENg + M.Eng in mechanical engineering. But all the question 1-5 above I don't have them, so am scared if I can get 400+ if write IELTS exam. Since 1-5 are more points and I don't have them.
My wife, 32 yes age + 2 years wok experience in nursery school. + 3rd class's B.Tech industrial chemistry . we both have 2 children, both are less than 3 yes
Pls advice if is possible to get 400+, because I did CSR point ranking I got 300+ Thanks, very likely you will score above 400 With your profile. 300 is quite low, possibly the English test results used are low, you need to score min of 8 in Listening and 7.5 in the others to get good scores which also increases your skills transferability scores from 25 to 50. I suggest you read through the cic.gc.ca website You can already start processing your MSc degree and wifey BSc degree evaluation and schedule IETLS tests for both of you. All the best |

Received ITA yesterday, so happy. My score was 431 which makes me feel even more blessed. Started October last year with an agent after IETLS results came out Agent just said score wasn't high enough so only provincial option and none were open then, wasn't getting adequate feedback so decided to go through the CIC website (I read that website tire). Figured out if I retake IETLS I will score higher and most likely qualify if the trend of reducing scores continue. Just found this group last month and was able to successfully submit application with the help got here. Thanks everyone and for others still in the pool all the best |
