I have heard that Honda V6 engines and transmission (on the Pilot for example) are not too reliable and very expensive to replace. so kindly enlighten me on why you picked the Honda Pilot above the Volvo xc90. Also would you consider a Niaja used Mercedes Benz ML350 2003-2005 model a good option?
I was hoping you would also come up with suggestions of your own based on your professional experience.

Hi,

A friend intends to get a naija used SUV (jeep) for his parents with good ground clearance, reliable, easy to maintain and availability of parts. Budget is 1-1.4million. Location is Delta State

Options suggested by a mechanic friend are
1) Volvo Xc90 (2005-2007)
2) Honda Pilot (2004-2006)
3) Ford Explorer (2004-2007)
Please feel free to add your own suggestions.

Thanks Sir. I also received the link for the owners manual from you. But I discovered it was that of the American Honda Accord Model 1994-97 and not the European model (or are they thesame?). Don't know if you have the link for that version. Thanks.

1. Mine was 41-HO2S, oxygen sensor and my o2 sensor is bad
2. The port is a 2-pin blue harness(connector) under passenger side glovebox(pidgin hole)

2) How were you able to get acess to the OBD1 port?

1. way-ahead means you are hopeful of getting a scan result. Some dashboard cel doesnt come on at all
2. I used paper clip and make sure u push it in with some muscle(force).
3. With theory, i mean the youtube and other stuffs we read online

Bros, you can start by scanning the vehicle? I have bullet too. If the check engine light on your dashboard comes on when u put your ignition on, you are a way-ahead. Just did same this evening and theory started making sense to me.
If are the technical type,I can send you the manual if u don't have it. It ll help u alot

1) what did you mean by[b] "way-ahead"[/b]?
2) I have read online that you can use a jumper pin to scan an OBD1 car. I want to know the method you used in scanning your car.
3) I also want to know what "theory" started to make sense after you scanned the car?

a lot of limitations to what can be done on your car due to its age.

Powertrain
ABS scan
Airbag scan
Only very old diagnostic tools can scan this vehicle Most technicians (including me) no longer have such equipment.

The inhibitor switch is bad and has been disabled that is why the gear leaver moves freely without depressing the brake pedal.

So someone blessed me with a honda bullet 1995/96 (Tiger Face) with automatic transmission which was bought as Toks in 2010. So far I have changed the Engine Oil and oil Filter, spark plugs, Gear selector Cable. But there are some issues that I have noticed and they are:

a) Check engine light is showing dashboard
b) ABS light is showing on dashboard
c) SRS light is showing on the dashboard
d) When I put the gear on Drive with my foot depressing the break pedal there is some mild vibration on the steering but when begin to move the
vibration gradually disappears.
e) I can move the Gear from Drive to reverse or even to Park without depress the break pedal.

At a workshop I took it to they suggested changing the following:

1) Front Wheel bearing
2) Ball joint
3) Stabilizer Links
4) Tie rods

(this goes to Luvinhubby)I would love to know the price of the listed items and how much to deliver them to Warri where I reside.

@ Oga Gazzuzz, Kingreign and others please advice me on what to do.

Been really busy, and have not been updating with pictures.

Jetta has been fixed steering is perfect.

Jaguar battery ran down and is being charged so work done can be tested.

Other vehicles are for nairalanders and they specifically instructed no posting of their vehicles on NL, so I am respecting their wishes.

Should be in delta and ph tommorow, pics of work done there will be posted.

Boss Gazzuzz, is there any reliable Mechanic in Warri you can recommend?
