The narrative of the God of War series has Kratos as a demigod capable of slaying gods. A movie adaptation would still follow the storyline of the games.

The problem with God of War is that all the Gods there are massively under-powered.

Its a videogame and so, the good guy must defeat his foes in battle to reach the end.

If not, I dont see how Kratos can beat Zeus. Two thunderbolts should fry Kratos. Also remember that Zeus is a shapeshifter. Kratos would not see him coming.
