Ihedinobi3:
Regardless, I was not arguing that Muslims shouldn't share Islam with the rest of the world. I gave Islam as an example of a religion that seeks to subvert nations to itself. That is my argument. And I don't see any reason from you yet to believe that that is untrue.
Right here is my problem with you- you see the flaws in islam but never see the same flaws in christianity.

Both christianity and islam seek to subvert nations.

1) They both put their God and religious laws above national secular laws. Example- they both fight against gay rights, pro-choice (abortion) and freedom/rights of atheists.

2) They both force the cultures of their religious forefathers on other nations. We see christians and muslims bearing Jewish and Arabic names respectively. What kind of Nigerian name is "Goodluck Jonathan" or "Abubakar Abdulsakam"? Why do we place church/mosque weddings over traditional weddings?

3) They both are fanatical about spreading their faith that they will commit atrocities (and break the law) to do so. They both killed to convert (jihads and crusades). They both engage in charity with the ulterior motive to convert people to their faith. They both make noise during their religious services to detriment of the non-believers in the environment.

The only difference is that christianity is now more secular than islam. The irony. What makes christianity better is secularism. If you look back at the past, christianity was even more dogmatic than islam. They killed people for owning bibles, blasphemy and also promoting science. Christianity also was in support of theocratic monarchies in the past (not so different from sharia law countries).

Refer to the post I was talking about.

Who said that they were? I don't care about that. I asked you to explain what makes the primary meaning of church taxable.
The church is an organisation that profits off preaching. It should be taxed. Unless you want to argue that preaching is charity.

Is your sunday service a charity event?

Ihedinobi3:
Is the Bible responsible for disobedience to its principles?
Yes, if its principles are confusing, outdated and contradictory.

Ihedinobi3:
I am receiving your silence on my other questions to mean that you cannot argue against them.

As for your argument here, clearly churches which don't pay taxes do not violate the law. For another point, like I said, I don't hold brief for churches, but I can't see what your upset is for churches as a rule. When people come together in order to encourage and support each other in their individual effort to grow in their understanding of and obedience to the Bible, in what way is that a taxable activity?
What other questions?

As for the taxes on churches, evangelism, preaching are not charity activities. Hosting AA meetings, granting scholarships, hosting free weddings etc are charity activities.

Is the Bible responsible for disobedience to its principles?

Regardless, I don't hold brief for churches, but I wonder if you believe that every organization of people is responsible to pay taxes?

Finally, if individual Christians pay taxes and churches are not responsible by law to pay taxes, what exactly is your grouse?
Only charities should be exempt from taxes. Churches engage in non charity activities.

Ihedinobi3:
Politics and national ambitions are no longer my cup of tea but I don't think you make much sense with your argument, bro.

The Bible teaches Christians to be good citizens, from paying our taxes and obeying good laws right up to taking up arms and risking our lives in defense of our country if we are able to. This is the Christian position. We do our bit to not make life impossible for others although that doesn't mean that we should go out of our way to pursue any national ambition that our fellow citizens and leaders catch a fever for.

So, again - as is often the case - an atheist misrepresents the Christian position.
Yet, churches have been evading taxes since ancient times.

You just talk like a parrot that has been told to say good things about christianity. Rinse and repeat.

TATIME:
Is it the focus on those places that is killing Nigeria?
Well i think that is not the main problem Sir, our problem starts from selfishness and greed!
Let everyone of us know that for people to live peacefully, we must see every child as our own NOT my neighbor's child! If that is how each of us thinks,i will not insist on having my own child when i am seeing children everywhere, their welfare will be the concern for you and me, there shouldn't be classes if we sincerely want PEACE, then we will know that every single child is the responsibility of one and all, those who still feel like having children will plan to have just one or two, our resources will be more than enough to cater for we all!
Then we can think of truthfully pledging to Nigeria our country, not when you and i are having the "me first" attitude. That's what Jesus of Nazareth preached and teach people of His time but unfortunately most people dislike that ideology!
False religious beliefs is teaching people the exact opposite of all these, but it's only those that are mildtempered that could calm down and learn all these, that is why God said it is only these meek ones that will be allowed to possess this earth and live FOREVER upon it. Psalms 37:8-11,29 Proverbs 2:20-22 Matthew 5:5
Sharrap. No one is saying that religion is the only problem we have. What we are saying is that religion is a problem.

It encourages foolishness in the name of faith.

There should be signs of aqualife.

I think life more less involves striking a balance between two or more sides and knowing when to go extreme.

I don't think the best way to handle the matter of homosexuality is to be hard on them. The West tried that and failed miserably, they were once harsher on them than Africans were. Look more to China on that. They have been quite effective at stifling the porn scourge and containing gay rights despite attaining developed status. The same for Japan though for a long time they had an erotic art (read porn) culture.

Don't explicitly support or harshly oppose, know when to strike hard in response to their misadventures without drawing pity for their cause. I think that's how you stop the LGBT rights movement.
Nonsense.

The best thing to do is to give them equal marriage rights and freedom of expression......and mind your own business

In their interview the directors said the avengers were the antagonists for wanting to stop Thanos' mission.

They actually said that thanos was the protagonist because with his intentions, he is some kind of hero... like an anti-hero

On Thanos being a Protagonist or Antagonist
I have beef with Koice but I still got respect for him. He forced me to do more research on this issue of protagonist v antagonist. Very few here can challenge me intellectually.

The honest solution is that everybody on either side is right- THANOS IS BOTH A PROTAGONIST AND ANTAGONIST.

I researched and came to understand certain problems causing our argument

1. The definitions of protagonist, hero, main character etc are not always set in stone.

2. The common assumption is that the protagonist is the hero or the good guy.

3. The protagonist does not always have to be a hero.

4. A protagonist can also be an antagonist (vice-versa)

5. Antagonist is not always the villain

6. The common assumption is that the villain is the antagonist

Considering number 3, I have to agree that Koice is right. Not only is Thanos the central character, he is also the mover of the plot. Thanos also had more screen time than any other character in infinity war. Thanos is the protagonist

However, considering number 1 and the common use of language (villain is synonymous with antagonist), Thanos is the antagonist.

If we were to use pure literary definitions, then Koice is right.

In summary, f4ck Koice. He is right but he is also an insufferable douche. grin

Lost cool against a mad titan with a powerful gauntlet and knowing that removing the gauntlet will reduce his power?

Star Lord is wiser than to lose his cool in that moment with the way he was portrayed in gotgs.

So Avengers were dull and stupid in infinity war.
Seriously, any sensible person would wait for the gauntlet to be removed before killing Thanos.

I mean, if a robber shot your friend and other people are in the process of disarming the robber, wouldnt the normal thing to do be to wait for the robber to be disarmed? Would you disturb the people disarming the robber so that the robber can shoot you?
