The Bible has so many amazing facts. Here is a list of ten of them.

1 – The Writing of the Bible

The Bible was written over a 1600 year period by approximately 40 men. The time of the writing was from 1500 BC to AD 100.

2 – The Divisions of the Bible

While the Bible is 1 book, it contain 66 smaller books. The books of the Old Testament were written before the birth of Jesus Christ and the New Testament covers the life of Christ and beyond.

3 – Chapters and Verses

Each of the books, except 5, are divided into chapters and verses. The 5 which aren’t divided by chapters are Obadiah, Philemon, 2 John, 3 John, and Jude. These are short books which only have verse divisions.
Chapters were introduced to the Bible in 1238 by Cardinal Hugo de S. Caro. Verse divisions were not added until 1551 by Robertus Stephanus.

4 – The Longest and Shortest of the Bible

The longest chapter if the Bible is Psalm 119 with 176 verses. The shortest chapter is Psalm 117 with only 2 verses. Incidentally, the middle chapter of the Bible is Psalm 118. also Psalm 117.

5 – The Bible Claims to be God’s Word

There are many books written about and by various religions. But the Bible is the only one which claims to be the actual words of God. Those who believe the Bible also believe that God inspired various people through the years to write down His actual words for mankind. The Bible says more than 3,000 times “thus saith the Lord.” It claims that the words which follow are quotes from God.

6 – The Bible is Historically Accurate

There were several secular historians who wrote about the events of the New Testament at the same time the Bible was being written. Josephus is the most well-known of them. He was a Jewish historian. Tacitus was a Roman historian who would have no benefit from not telling the truth. Both these men, as well as others, can be used to back up the historical accuracy of the Bible.
There are historical discoveries regularly coming to light that continue to support the accuracy of the Bible. Merrill Unger, who compiled a Bible dictionary wrote, “Old Testament archeology has rediscovered whole nations, resurrected important peoples, and in a most astonishing manner filled in historical gaps, adding immeasurably to the knowledge of Biblical backgrounds.”

7 – The Business of the Bible

There are more than 168,000 Bibles either sold or given away per day in the United States according to the Gideons, Wycliffe International and the International Bible Societies.

The Bible has been translated into more than 1,200 languages.

8 – The Bible Never Contradicts Itself

There are no contradictions in the Bible. Various people claim to find contradictions but they have to take verses out of context to do so. When looking at the Bible as a whole and understanding its teachings there are no contradictions. This is amazing when one considers that the Bible was written over such a long period of time.

9 – The Prophecies of the Bible

There are more than 3,200 verses with fulfilled prophecy either within the Bible itself or since the Bible was written. But there are still more than 3,100 verses with unfulfilled prophecies.

10 – The Writers of the Bible

While there were at least 40 different people who wrote parts of the Bible, some were more prolific than others. The Apostle Paul wrote at least 13 books of the Bible. He may have also been the author of the book of Hebrews. Moses wrote the first 5 books.
The Bible attributes more than 3,000 proverbs to King Solomon. These are not all written in the book of Proverbs. However, most of that book is said to be the proverbs of Solomon.

Note: Works here does not refer to keeping the old testament laws, but the royal command of Love for God and Love for others as yourself. I.e Practicing Holiness just as He is Holy.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12-13).

The same man who wrote the verses above also wrote, “by grace you have been saved through faith. . . it is the gift of God, not a result of works.”(Eph 2:8-9)

So why do we need to work out our salvation when works do not save us?

Because though we are saved by God’s unconditional electing grace(Eph 1:4;2:5) through the gift of faith, the works we do prove that our faith is real. (James 2:18) Works are evidence of election.

That’s why on one hand Jesus says, “No one can come to me unless the Father. . . draws him”(John 6:44) (election), and on the other hand he says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments(John 14:15) (evidence of election). He ties both together when he says, “My sheep hear my voice (election) and I know them, and they follow me”(John 10:27) (evidence).

Why God ordered it this way is seen in some of Jesus’ parables. He says that when the gospel net is cast into the sea of the world, it “gather[s] fish of every kind,”(Mt 13:47) some righteous and some evil. The visible church is always a mixed catch, or always has weeds among the wheat,(Mt 13:24-30) or always has goats among the sheep.(Mt 25:31-46) What distinguishes the elect from others is that their God-given faith is demonstrated by their God-dependent works.(James 2:14-26) Faith works through love.(Gal 5:6)

Words are cheap. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”(Mt 7:21)

Our works are not decisive in our salvation. They are evidence of God’s saving work in us. And that is why we must “be all the more diligent to make [our] calling and election sure” (2Pt 1:10) by working out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

Bolded words at the top are mine.

BabaO2:
Bakare is a cheap malicious man lobbying secretly and vigorously underneath

jiggaz:
My brother you seem not to understand me at all..... i am not encouraging Christians to live in sin, no, not at all!!!! All i am saying is dat our Salvation is by God's Grace and not by our works. But its still necessary for Believers to live right and Holy to experience God's blessings and inheritance here on earth. I am not encouraging anyone to live in sin, all am saying is dat since the Holy Spirit seals us when we receive Christ, it will unlikely dat the person will lose His Salvation. Maybe you guys didn't understand me before...

ProphetUdeme:
1 timothy 4 vs 4 - The Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times many shall depart from the faith and deviate away from the truth and shall have their conscience seared with hot iron. Peter tells us that They shall even forsake and deny the Lord that brought them and shall bring upon themselves swift destruction. There is in one of the o.p's post that he made mentioned that whatever i might say, he will never agree. Why because his conscience has been hardened by the devil. Many have really fallen away from the truth. All they need is to be included in our daily prayers

No automatic yields from crops that have not been planted you know. President Buhari has just started harvesting from the field planted and nurtured by former President Jonathan. Only who understand that will see the reason to thank Jonathan first, and then Buhari for continuing with Jonathan projects.

The perception of a leader is what matters most.
PMB has fired more people in 2 months than GEJ did in 6years. That is why everyone is sitting up to his/her responsibilities. Even the dead EFCC has been resuscitated. I heard electricity has improved as well.

PMB doesn't have to lift a finger. Nigerians can do right but they need a leader who inspires and not an usurper who could be pushed left, right and centre by his minions.

For once, sanity is returning to Nigeria. If Nigeria can control the African oil market alone with the shear population, she can earn a lot and minimize dependence in international oil market. The solutions to our problems are internal.

Amen Jiggaz. False teachers tell us to work for our salvation and thus preaching another gospel. Paul said let them be accursed.

jiggaz:
You can quote Scriptures from here till whenever, i don't care. Go to the beginning of my post to see how i explained everything. ONCE YOU ARE SAVED, YOU CANNOT BE UNSAVED. God's promise of eternal life to us cannot be changed.

I wonder why it is very difficult for u people to understand or are you people jealous, angry or what? God is not man and can never think like man.

So you can argue from now till whenever, plz be ma guest but i have put all of you on IGNORE BUTTON. You people are the Modern day PHARISEES & SADUCCEES....
