CrimeRe: Soldier Kills Teenager For Challenging Him For Making Sexual Advances At His Sis by Jerrite(m): 7:07pm On Jan 06
RollinTNDA:
The boy is very foolish.

Yes the Soldier was wrong

But approaching the soldier in such manner that involve cursing out and irritating a soldier with a gun is pure Stupidity.

I don't shed tears when stupidity dies
I just learn from their stupid mistake

I don't care how wrong you did me
If you are carrying a gun with bullet
I will forgive you make peace and not fight insult or confront you.

Even if I want to revenge
I will do it in a way you won't know it's me.

Surviving is about using your brain
Too much graa graa always lead to early grave

Edit
People saying he is a kid
Which kid will go and challenge an ARMED soldierhuh Na cultist I'm the making

At his age, the sight of soldiers put tremors in my hands , talkless of hassling, provoking and insulting an ARMED soldier??

Now where all that graa graa end? 6ft under undecided
The boy never confronted the soldier, he can't, and he didn't. I know Timothy, he wasn't even there when the soldier tried to assault his sisters, he didn't know the soldier tried to assault his sister. It was other soldiers there that removed the soldier and apologised to the sister when he was slapping her. Timothy wasn't there, he is NOT a cultist, Timothy was just a fun young kid that became a victim of an unhinged fellow

This report is a bit misleading. It is true that the soldier slapped the boys sister when she went out to urinate, but the brother was not there when it happened and unaware that incident even happened. He was among a crowd of people who came out to throw and watch the fireworks a bit past 12, he never talked to the soldier, insulted, threatened or harassed the soldier. That narrative is to mislead and gaslight the situation. Young Timothy was killed in cold blood, and the soldiers first response was that he was just trying to scare the kids from throwing fireworks. Punch and Leadership are giving a misleading narrative. I know this because I know Timothy, I know the family, and I'm a close friend to both sisters.
Miracle posted a video on Facebook to narrate the incident which is corroborated by other eyewitnesses
Science/TechnologyRe: How Long Are Mammals Pregnant? by Jerrite(m): 1:45am On Jan 01
maureensylvia:
Oh, I see.
But medically, pregnancies rarely go beyond 42 weeks.
What people sometimes call 11 months is usually just a miscalculation of dates or how months are counted.
I'm saying basically that the human body has an amazing ability to adapt. If superfetation can occur, post-term pregnancies are not the most bizarre phenomena. I've seen enough of it. People mostly attribute it to village people, but hormonal imbalance or disturbances may cause it. Children survive preterm, and post-term too. Children also die preterm, at expected DDD and post-term. Heard of someone who carried a pregnancy for about seven years, she came to labour after seven years and the doctors removed a calcified fetus via CS.
Anything is possible

This is not true
Don't mislead the public please
It's true, I don't know how often, but post-term pregnancies happen. Personally I stayed 11 months and about 2 weeks before birth. I've personally seen longer

Depends on how you pit them. Same size and gender = either way
Male lion vs female tiger = lion
Female lion vs male tiger = tiger
Both male at their maximum size and optimal age = tiger

Wow. This was a painful adventure in Oyo. Thank God you are alive. Don't give up on farming. You can start farming closer to where you live. I am proud of your determination. Cheers.
Thank you, actually took a break to pursue my masters in agriculture
AgricultureRe: Farmers’ Day: Share That One Farming Experience You’ll Never Forget by Jerrite(m): 9:05pm On Dec 10, 2025
My friend and I relocated to Oyo and planted about 5 hectare of maize and cassava, two months later, after fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides and all that, fulani herdsmen entered the farm and destroyed everything with their cattle. It was as if our child died.
We went to their settlement inside the bush, tracked and located the persons responsible, arrested them with police, and then used our savings and shop investment money to be pursuing police and court case with herdsmen. Nothing came out of it. We stopped when our money was exhausted, there was threat to life, and an intercommunal dispute because of us, and began from ground zero.
We had to take up teaching jobs just to survive, before we relocated out of the place.

Forum GamesRe: For $100 Million, which Of These Animal Could You Survive Against For 20 Minutes? by Jerrite(m): 12:00am On Aug 12, 2025
For those choosing the hippo, you actually stand zero chance against an hippo, it is much faster than you both on land and water, with a temperament only rivalled by a Cape buffalo, it will attack anything for the slightest excuse (the hippo actually kill more people a year than the lion, tiger, and bear combined). In Africa, only the mosquito surpasses the hippo in kills. You may stand a better survival chance against a lion and the bear (if it is a polar bear, your chances are zero) if you know what to do to either scare or distract it. Against the tiger, very slim chance as you won't even see it coming.
With the hippo, you have no chance

EducationRe: M.sc Or IT Skills by Jerrite(m): 2:26pm On Jun 17, 2025
If you are planning for a career in academics, go for the master's. Except for an academic career, msc does not really give any competitive edge nowadays, especially in Nigeria. Pick an IT niche and develop. If you plan to do msc, don't do it in Nigeria because the time it'll take you to complete one here, you'd have been grounded in several competitive IT skills

I don't consider this a trophy.

This is not a trophy or a cup, it is a tray.

This would go down as the ugliest 'trophy' in club football.

EducationRe: Things You Were Not Taught In School, That Your Children Must Learn by Jerrite(m): 8:23am On Feb 16, 2025
Dogalmighty17:
As much as 85% of course taught in Nigerian universities currently, are obsolete. Nigerian graduates have very little skills that prepare them for the real world. I recently met a corper in her early 30s who had no email and could not send one. Someone had given her heads up of an employment opportunity in UBA and she was to forward some information to a mail the bank provided. She came up blank. She is still unemployed.

Close to a decade ago, Charles Soludo made a statement that most Nigerian graduates are unemployable. People came for his head but was he far from the truth?

Our universities should be blamed for this. I remember in my year one as an economics student in University. My lecturer in a particular course was teaching us from his notes as a student in 1978. I could not help but ask myself that in over 32 years was there no recent development in that particular field of economics? How relevant would something learned in the 1970s be in a dynamic field of study like economics 30 years after? For instance, Laffer curve and supply side economics is still very well being taught in our schools in Nigeria at a time when global events have overshadowed it and rendered it nearly moot. That's why most economic interventions across the globe during the time of corona were more tailored towards boosting demand. I don't think macro-economics as currently being taught in Nigeria has even begun to capture this shift. I may be wrong.

This of course doesn't take away the need for agency on the part of students. Schools can't teach everything. It is on the student to ensure that he or she is well rounded in knowledge acquisition. This can only be achieved when an active desire to read and read widely is present. But social media and its ability to provide quick dopamine fixes makes this very difficult.

Lets not go too far. Take the contributions here on nairaland as an example. Nothing highlights the inadequacy of our university systems like the quality or lack thereof of contributions on this site. Now imagine the larger society.
Very apt Sir
AgricultureRe: Man Laments As Herdsmen Destroy 20 Acres Of His Cassava Farm In Ogun State by Jerrite(m): 2:46pm On Feb 09, 2025
PresidObi:
The man is a liar and criminal. That place doesn't look like a cassava farm, looks like an abandoned land.
I had a farmland in Oyo, maize and cassava about 5 hectares, the same thing happened to my farm. I arrested the herdsmen, took them to court, trying to get compensation as the whole farm was wrecked, it didn't pan out well, instead, there were major threats to my life, had to relocate from Oyo, all the investment gone. This is something you pray it doesn't happen to you. I can understand the distress of the farmer.

This was not in an exam situation though, it still rings funny in my head grin We were taking notes from a dictation in primary school, (Primary 4 or 5 then) when the whole class stopped at a point, all of us couldn't remember how to spell "with". For like five minutes, the teacher was still dictating and we were just looking at ourselves, all bewildered and lost until he noticed.

FamilyRe: What's The Funniest Thing You've Heard From A Child? by Jerrite(m): 7:32pm On Nov 25, 2021
I was a guest at a family's place. After I had stayed a few days and interacted with the kids, the youngest boy about 5 came to my room and why like "uncle, I think you're the calmest person on planet earth". Me I was just surprised and asked why he thought that. His response was that I have a very quiet voice and I turn my body on the bed like someone that has money (I was lying on the bed then)...
I just couldn't say anything, I was like ...ooookaaay... Thanks bud

I will say most pastors these days are now motivational speakers, they talk too much and do little when it comes to manifestation of the spirit.See not everyone should be a pastor If u don't have the anointing to manifest God's spirit u talk dry and turn to preference and studies as mere educationist which most pastors have now turn to.I sincerely miss archbishop benson idahosa that's the only man I know in Nigeria that has it.I see no one up till now
Humbly pointing out Sir, Apostle Paul said, if every member is the hand, where then is the hearing?... This is trying to put God's Spirit in a bottle... There is a very large room for diversity in God... Does the man have testimonies of lives transformed over the years? Yes he does. Has he been consistent in message and calling, yes he is... Not everyone can be Archbishop
