It is certainly not the duty of honourable members to provide amenities for their constituents from their salaries and emoluments. Their duty is to make laws and facilitate the environment that would prompt government to provide these amenities. However you can see that the "distinguished" got it all wrong. He like many others cannot draw the line between making laws and execution by government. They have appropriated both for themselves, they make the laws and want to execute them at the same time. Former governors who are now senators are yet to shed the toga of the executive and adjust to the role of "merely" make laws and providing meaningful oversight. Unfortunately they have forcefully taken up both roles and are surprised that their constituents keep bombarding them with all manner of requests. Whose fault?

My man, some of us have also been through similar experiences probably not exactly the same and we coped well. Why? Only because God's time is best, He knows when to lift one up and bring the other low despite putting in one's best. Your turn shall come provided you remain diligent and focused on the right things. A few years ago 2 of my colleagues and I were on the same rank but I was their senior by virtue of entry point and promotion. We went for the next promotion interview together and they scaled through while I didn't. One of them asked that I should be preparing memos for him which I politely declined while I was instructed to be reporting to the other one. The powers that be expected me to react negatively or leave for some other schedule but I did neither. Sometimes I do wonder at the comments made by people speaking for those in authority. Citizens are mowed down, maimed, abducted, killed and so gruesomely in Nigeria everyday and all we get as explanation are these pitiful platitudes. What happened to our humanity? Is it not blood that runs in all our veins or maybe something else runs in theirs?

It took only 24hours or thereabouts to identify and hunt down this person but people who commit such terrible killing in Nigeria are yet to found weeks, months and even years after!
