Twitter Inc said that its internal controls were allowing it to weed out accounts being used for the “promotion of terrorism” earlier rather than responding to government requests to close them down.

U.S. and European governments have been pressuring social media companies including Twitter, Facebook Inc, and Alphabet Inc’s Google to fight harder against online radicalization, particularly by violent Islamist groups.

Twitter said it had removed 299,649 accounts in the first half of this year for the “promotion of terrorism”, a 20 percent decline from the previous six months, although it gave no reason for the drop. Three-quarters of those accounts were suspended before posting their first tweet.

Britain’s interior minister, Amber Rudd, used a visit to Silicon Valley last month to ask Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube to step up efforts to remove content that incites militants after four attacks in Britain killed 36 people this year.

“Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better!” U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted on Friday after a bombing on a London commuter train.

Less than 1 percent of account suspensions were due to government requests, Twitter said, while 95 percent were thanks to the company’s internal efforts to combat radical content with “proprietary tools”, up from 74 percent in its last twice-yearly transparency report.

Twitter defines “promotion of terrorism” as actively inciting or promoting violence “associated with internationally recognized terrorist organizations.”

The vast majority of notices from governments concerned “abusive behavior”, which includes violent threats, harassment, hateful conduct and impersonation.

Twitter said it had removed 935,897 accounts for promotion of terrorism between August 1, 2015 and June 30 this year.

The social media platform said in July it had 328 million average monthly active users in the three months to June 30.

The European Union has threatened legislation on Internet firms removing illegal content if they do not step up efforts to police what is available on the web.

Twitter said it had received about 3 percent more legal requests and court orders to remove content posted by users in the first half of this year than during the last six months of 2016.

About 90 percent of those removal requests came from Turkey, Russia, France and Germany.

The transparency report showed Turkey was the most active country in seeking the removal of content, accounting for 45 percent of all requests worldwide.

Twitter said it had received eight requests from governments to take down content posted by journalists and news organizations in the first half of 2017 but did not act on any of them “because of their political and journalistic nature.”

Of the eight, five were court orders or other legal demands from Turkey ordering Twitter to take down content from journalists or news outlets.

Turkey detained tens of thousands of people including scores of journalists after a failed coup in July last year. The crackdown by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who has for years tried to stamp out what he sees as illegal online activity, has strained relations with NATO allies and raised alarms among civil liberties advocates.

Twitter said it filed legal objections to court orders involving Turkish journalists and news outlets wherever possible but none of them had prevailed.

Materials:
*.A large potato
*.Two pennies
*.Two zinc-plated nails
*.Three pieces of copper wire
*.A very small light bulb or LED light

What you need to do:

1.Cut the potato in half, then cut a small slit into each half, large enough to slide a penny inside.

2.Wrap some copper wire around each penny a few times. Use a different piece of wire for each penny.

3.Stick the pennies in the slits you cut into the potato halves.

4.Wrap some of the third copper wire around one of the zinc-plated nails and stick the nail into one of the potato halves.

5.Take the wire connected to the penny in the half of potato with the nail and wrap some of it around the second nail. Stick that second nail into the other potato half.

6.When you connect the two loose ends of the copper wires to the light bulb or LED it will light up

The lawyer who job it is to know if Kanu is dead or alive doesn't know. You free to be a conspiracy theoriest like OP like I told him. When Kanu reappear I'll bump this thread. His parents aren't dead because his parents nor brother have mentioned such after incident. Why would they leave out that detail. We know their dog is confirmed to be dead. Yet they won't report on people.

I see reason in your second paragraph, in reference to the possibility, of the death, of Nnamdi and his parents. We will soon know the truth.

Why would he report on incident without having all the details. Only dumb person would speak publicly before trying to get a hold of clients or people they live with. Maybe that's how you operate so it makes perfect sense. No he would just speak just because it's tactful not to speak at times.

He already claimed the tried to kill client and all relevant facts he knew.

Here in Nigeria, it is not uncommon for residents of cities and towns to go without electric power for days. This leaves phone users with many hours unable to get across to their loved ones and business partners.

Though the pump price of fuel is said to have dropped by N2 from N145 per litre to N143, many phone users in the country still can’t afford fuelling their power generating devices because of the economic situation in the country.

The question most people keep asking is how to keep their phone fully charged without having to rely on electricity.

Here are the answers:

From battery packs, solar panels and hand cracks, there are dozens of ways to charge your phone without using a typical charger, according to experts.

Backup battery packs: these are the easiest and safest option. They will definitely charge your phone and are inexpensive and available everywhere.

Solar panel and charger: this is an affordable option that ads more versatility than the traditional backup battery packs because it doesn’t require electricity to charge in the first place.

Hand crank: The Eton BoostTurbine2000 handcrank would be a difficult way to give your phone a full charge, but it can get you some power in an emergency.

Wind turbine: the inventors claim that when fully-charged, the turbine can charge your phone four to six times. But this is a pricey option at $399(N141,000).

But Matthieu Dubarry, an electrochemist at the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute who is an expert in batteries, told DailyMail.com that trying to charge a phone with a 9V battery ‘is certainly not a good idea because of the voltage.

“You don’t want to put anything past 4.5 volts”, he said.

“That’s really really bad”, he echoed, emphasizing that no batteries, even lower than 9V, should be used.

If you attempt this for too long and the battery gets too hot, the phone can explode.

Sometimes this can happen right away and other times it can take two or three days.

“5 or 6 [phone batteries] is as much power as a hand grenade”, he said.

“There’s a risk, and we don’t want people getting hurt because they tried something off the internet without knowing about it.”

He explained the iPhone probably has a safety that prevents it from accepting the charge from the 9V battery, which is why the ‘this accessory may not be supported’ error message popped up.

Build a fruit battery

Several online tutorials also show how to charge a cell phone using acidic fruits (like oranges, lemons, or apples), copper wire, and both zinc and copper nails.

To do this, insert one zinc nail and one copper nail into several pieces of fruit so that the nails are close but not touch.

Next, connect the copper piece of one fruit to the zinc of another using the copper wire to make a circuit.

Then cut open the USB end of your charging cord, connect the wires to the ends of the copper wires in the fruit circuit, and plug in your phone.

Other ways to do this involve metal plates or coins.

But beware before trying this method; know that it also has the potential to damage your phone, Dubarry said.

Backup battery packs

Battery packs are the easiest and safest way to charge your phone.

You can charge these devices ahead of time when you do have power and then use them to charge your phone (as well as other devices) later when you can’t reach an outlet or don’t have electricity.

They can be purchased for less than $20 (N7,200) online or in department and convenience stores.

Solio Classic2 Battery Pack + Solar Charger

Using this small, 10.1-ounce device, you can charge your phone using solar power.

Simply spread out the panels facing the sun to the charge the device itself (which should take about 10 hours), and then you can charge your phone.

Inc. tested the $100 Solio device and was able to charge an iPhone in 90 minutes.

Also in 90 minutes, they got an iPad’s charge up 20 percent.

This is a somewhat affordable option that ads more versatility than the traditional backup battery packs because it doesn’t require electricity to charge in the first place.

The Eton BoostTurbine2000

This device is the most manual way to give your phone a charge.

It’s a $60 (N21, 600) hand crank that is roughly the size of a smartphone itself and has a retractable crank you can turn to charge your phone.

Charging your phone this way would take a lot of labour - three hours of cranking, to be exact.

But if you need to make an emergency call, one crank is enough to generate enough power a 30 second call.

Vindur portable wind turbine

Two electricians designed the world’s first portable turbine phone charger that lets people charge their mobile phone using wind power alone.

It started on Kickstarter as Trinity, a device folds together into a 12-inch cylinder and then unfolds into a vertical turbine that be used to charge USB devices.

To open the product you’d pull out the aluminium legs and arrange them either into a tripod or on a flat surface.

At the top of the legs is a turbine with three blades.

These capture the wind and spin, providing green energy for a generator that can supply to 15 watts of power.

There is also an internal battery that can store energy if you don’t need it right away.

The inventors claim that when fully-charged, the turbine can charge your phone four to six times.

After raising $75,000, the creators are now selling a new version called Vindur for $399.

His lawyers didn't say they were dead. His client lives at his parents house. If he can't reach his client directly he will likely call his parents and or visit premises. Especially to understand what happened. A chief can't die off and not be replaced. The elders would speak up and state government would have to explain.

But didnt say he was alive, or that he knew were he is. Have you seen them in his house? Has he called then? Is he not in the nature to speak publicly once he has the chance? Because they have not spoken does not mean they won't speak, does not mean that they know. You see the flaws? Now tell me something more factual.

If they had such an easy win, why did the army men lay siège against his résidence till they broke in. During their siege, Nnamdi made a public statement, an out cry, and that was the last. The truth is: we will still find out soon.

Alongside his aged parents and every other person at his father's palace at the time of the raid.

Consider the following...

The military surrounds his father's house and lays a siege for 3 days.

On the 4th day amidst heavy gun shots the military breaches the compound.

Army spokesmen then come out with a statement both proscribing IPOB and declaring Nnamdi Kanu wanted claiming he somehow miraculously escaped from the compound.

With this move alone, the Nigerian govt has done away with the "trouble maker" Kanu and at the same time created an alibi exonerating themselves from his extrajudicial murder.

They had to kill everyone (including Kanu's parents) to hide the truth.

The jihadist had come to realise that they had no solid legal case in court against Kanu.

His bail was granted expressly to have him murdered.

Are you serious? He should have done a last video or something to make the world know that he was in there at the last day. Now Ipob are without their leader
