Borno people should use voter’s card and vote out Zulum, that way we will believe your allegations that Borno has become worse under him, social media rant for cheap scores or chicken change promotions won’t bring the change for you.
Lagos stinks not just of refuse dump but of corruption. How can you generate N50bn IGR every month & still borrow billions but can’t show real tangible development + fat FAAC allocation? This IGR they declare may be half of the real thingy but they still loot almost everything.
Former Commissioner for Finance in Osun State and a supporter of Mr Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past governor of the state, Dr Wale Bolorunduro, on Wednesday, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC chieftain who made the announcement of his resignation in a press conference in Osogbo said, having made wide consultations with his supporters, friends, admirers and family who felt the best option for him was to shine the light, they opted for the PDP.
He said, “I hereby resign the membership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) after eleven (11) years of active partisanship in the party. While my deportment, in August 2011 to ACN and APC (now) was by fate, I remain mortally grateful to Aregbesola for that singular act.
“I had used the opportunity to serve my state diligently and with the whole of my heart. As a top management staff of the current biggest bank in Nigeria, I used my contacts in the industry to raise funds to modernise my state. The sheer quantum of funds mobilized is a testament to creative financing and talent imbued by God on Osun citizens, who supported us during the capital raising.
“I have consulted wisely with my followers, admirers, friends and family, who felt we should pitch our tent with PDP, to join this party and to work with them to shine the light (Imole Osun).”
He remarked that he would have made his intention known before the July 16, 2022, gubernatorial election in the state but “knowing ‘them’ it was better ‘to err on the side of caution’ for us to have today, tomorrow and the future”.
Bolorunduro said, “having been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for eleven years, it is evidently clear that the party has departed from the old time progressive ideologies which eventually culminated in a loss of the election by the incumbent government.”
According to him “Osun APC has gone beyond salvage with deceit, injustice, lack of fairness, unhealthy/needless rivalry and poor reward that are alien to what Awolowo stood for.”
Muslim-Muslim ticket: Protesting APC members storm party secretariat
Hundreds of demonstrators on Wednesday morning stormed the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress to register their grievance over the position of the party on the contentious Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The protest took place almost at the same time the leadership of the APC was unveiling former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, as the running mate of its Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua in Abuja.
The demonstration, which was led by a few party members under the aegis of APC Hausa-Fulani Youth Forum, saw the delegation arrive the Secretariat in six luxury buses and few cars, raising different banners and chanting solidarity songs.
Some of the banners read ‘A cry for justice’, ‘Drop Shettima and give slot to our Christian brothers’, ‘Discrimination and mutual suspicion in our country’ among others. Speaking to our correspondent, Convener of Forum, Abdullahi Bilal Mohamadu declared that they will not stop protesting until the party do the right.
On why the demonstrators took to protest on a day the party is presenting his vice presidential candidate, Mohammadu stated that it was a deliberate act to tender their grievances and ensure it reaches the appropriate authorities.
In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and made available to The PUNCH, Mohammadu stated that they saw the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima as an aberration that should be corrected immediately by the leadership of the party.
The letter read, “We write to your good office in light of the prevailing circumstances arising from the decision of our Presidential candidate to select a Northern Muslim as his vice presidential candidate.
“While it must be stated that there is a right to make decisions, however, such decisions must not be made to the collective detriment of the sensibilities of the people that make up the country of Nigeria especially at a time of mutual suspicion amongst the Christians and Muslims in the northern part of the country. “As concerned stakeholders of the APC and those who constitute the voting strength of our party , we find it worrisome that such a decision could be taken without recourse to its implication on the electoral chances of the party and the attendant uproar such a decision could bring about in the country.
“In our opinion, this is insensitive and a gross display of a lack of respect for our Christian brothers and sisters especially the Middle Belt minority who have given all their best to us as one northern Nigeria. Picking another Muslim from the north eastern part of the country as his running mate is politically and morally indefensible.
“In Northern Nigeria, there are credible candidates with rich credentials and with massive grassroots following that can complement the presidential ticket of the APC in the presidential elections. As such, the Hausa – Fulani Youths Forum sees the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima as an aberration that should be corrected with immediate effect by the relevant authorities within the party.
“The implication of non-action in this regard can only be imagined, so much so that the majority of the eligible voters in Northern Nigeria have elected to boycott the APC in protest of the disrespect and disregard to our Northern Christian brothers , whose population and relevance in the scheme of things in the region cannot be overemphasized.
“If our party is desirous of recording electoral success in the 2023 presidential elections, it must retrace its steps by selecting a Christian from the Middle Belt as its vice presidential candidate. The party must not be perceived as promoting a religious agenda by fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“We consequently say no to a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the APC. We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to kindly intervene to save the party from an electoral crisis. We urge Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emulate the example of President Muhammadu Buhari in the choice of his running mate in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.
“Our Christian brothers and sisters deserve a place in the scheme of things, and our party must not be seen as a religiously insensitive party. The time to act is now.”
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Edo state John Mayaki on Sunday blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the loss of the party in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
He accused the president of negligent management of party activities and ‘suicidal’ tolerance of anti-party activities within the ranks.
In a statement made available to journalists in Benin City, Mayaki who chaired the Media Council of the Edo APC in the 2020 Governorship election maintained that although the President’s non-interference through the infamous ‘federal might’ represents a good development for the country’s democracy, it still doesn’t excuse the observed “abandonment of his obligations as the leader of the party who ought to be spearheading efforts to unite the ranks, enforce loyalty, and expand political control.”
He said: “The anti-party activities of top ranking APC members, governors and Ministers under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is to blame for the electoral misfortune of the party in Edo and Osun states.
“Poor reward system of the party and that of the president, if not checked, could impact negatively on the party.
“In Edo State, we have a deformed Assembly lacking the inclusion of the majority because duly elected Members are yet to be inaugurated. Mr. President has shown no serious concern about this dangerous development, despite the fact that the affected parties are all members of the party he leads.”
“Under President Buhari, APC governors worked against the party in Edo state similar to how figures in his cabinet have been fingered in the loss of Osun state. But Mr. President won’t lift a finger to either reprimand these party saboteurs, instead he signals tolerance that further emboldens them.”
Mayaki also criticized President Buhari’s refusal to sack non-performing members of his cabinets and government who, according to him, have shown themselves incapable of bringing an end to the insecurity that plagues the country.
Gudaji Kazaure, member of the house of representatives from Jigawa state, says he has defected from the All Progresssives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but he is still loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kazaure said Abubakar Badaru, governor of Jigawa, denied him a return ticket “for no reason”.
During the primary election, the lawmaker lost the APC ticket to Mukhtar Zanna, local government chairman of Kazaure.
Zanna clinched the APC ticket after securing 89 votes.
Muhammad Zakari, another house of representatives hopeful got 70 votes, while Kazaure came a distant third by polling 26 votes.
The lawmaker, who represents Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa and Yankwashi federal constituency in the lower legislative chamber, said he is confident of victory on the platform of ADC.
“Yes I have left the APC, but my loyalty to my leader, President Muhammudu Buhari and the Nigerian masses still remains as strong as ever,” he said.
“My governor denied me a return ticket to the house for no reason but it doesn’t change anything, I have moved to the ADC and my victory is assured by my people.”
[The lawmaker, who was first elected in 2015, is a known supporter of the president.
Investigation of Nigeria’s frontrunner. In West Africa Weekly, David Hundeyin examines how Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state and front-runner in Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election, became involved in a drug investigation.
In the 1990s, Tinubu fought a lawsuit in which the U.S. government accused him of being connected to a bank account laundering the proceeds of heroin trafficking—eventually reaching a $460,000 forfeiture settlement without indictment. A current court case in Nigeria also accuses Tinubu of secretly controlling and siphoning funds through the firm Alpha Beta Consulting, which collects taxes in Lagos. Tinubu has denied the reports as “unsubstantiated allegations.”

Political thugs have allegedly vandalised the businesses of some Igbo traders at Old garage, in Osogbo, the state capital.
In a viral video sighted by DAILY POST, shops of traders from the eastern part of the country were attacked over their alleged choice of candidate in Saturday’s governorship election.
A man behind the camera alleged that the thugs vandalised their counters for supporting Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in last Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
Confirming the attack, the chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Osun State, Pastor John Dike said no one was injured adding that everything is under control.
He said the people who destroyed the counters belonging to the Igbo traders were dissatisfied with the outcome of the governorship election.
“You know, in an election like this, you can’t rule out the possibility of dissatisfied persons. It’s not anything serious. Some of our people had their counters destroyed but we have brought that under control as I speak to you now.
“We are not taking any serious actions against it because we know that there are skirmishes of things like this when elections come up and go.
“The Yorubas that we live in their land are peace-loving people and we have been living friendly. So, it is something we can handle. There is no one injured as I speak to you,” he said.
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has received report of some of its erstwhile members who moved to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.
According to a press statement signed by the State’s publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC was not moved by their decision to defect.
He said they failed to officially inform the party of their move which was not for any reason but self aggrandizement.
“Their individual and collective loyalists have remained in the people-focused APC, thus it’s bewildering to hear them claim thousands of followers.
“Just as they left the APC, we are happy that the ruling party has continued to receive and welcome more decampees in the State and keeping it ahead of other political parties,” he said.
About 2,000 youth and women in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State at the weekend publicly dumped the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors, who were mainly from Osi community in Ekiti Local Government Area of the state stated that, they decided to dump their former party, APC based on the alleged non-performance since the party took over the mantle of leadership in the state.
Last weekend, hundreds of the APC members in Isolo-opin ward in Ekiti council area of the state dumped the party for the PDP.
Speaking at an outing in Osi town, leader of the defectors and one of the advocates of “O To Ge” movement during 2019 general election in the state, Mrs. Veronica Ayeni (Ire) said, “I used my time, resources and my energy to mobilise for Kwara APC in 2019 general election.
“This was done purposely, because of my children for them to secure jobs as employment and prompt empowerments remain the campaign watchword of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. More than three years now, nothing like dividends of democracy in my immediate family not to talk of my political followers.
“I have worked with Saraki dynasty in the past, and I know what my community has benefited from Saraki family. 2023, we will deliver Osi for PDP,” she said, adding that, “APC is a political party with full of crises and deceit.
“I have decided to leave APC party, because 2023, I can see there’s no hope for them in Kwara State and Nigeria by extension with various calamities that our electorate are facing as a country people. As a grassroots politician and a great political mobiliser from Osi ward l, I’m assuring you more members of APC in PDP as you have officially received us to your peaceful party,” she stated.
In his remarks, Hon. Sakariyahu Uthman, who is the PDP chairman, Osi ward ll, assured them a great synergy as he made it known to the defectors that there was no factions in Kwara PDP.
He called on the defectors to move into the wards in the local government so as to mobilise more members into the PDP so as to ensure electoral victory of the party in the state come 2023.
femisplash: They recognized Tinubu as the incoming President and that's the most important. Any other things are a truck of trash. On a second thought, why are Obidients always aggressive whenever Obi is being criticized. Kwankwaso even said Northerners won't vote for an ibo man and heaven didn't fall.
chatinent: Tinubu and Obi aside, why are you he-diots always mentioning Buhari in the same context with leadership! What fcking experience does Buhari have! Buhari is a total mess that can make any good fortune misfortunes.
I am not sure Buhari is comfortable with these praises... because he'll see them as mockery!
"They recognized Tinubu as the incoming President"

…calls on Nigerians to reject leaders promoting bigotry
A northern youths group operating under the aegis of Coalition of Arewa Youths for Peace and National Development (COAYPANU), has announced the removal of Alhaji Kashim Shettima, vice presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as its patron.
The group,in a statement, Sunday, explained that its action was based on the statement by Senator Shettima, on the capacity of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party,LP, Mr. Peter Obi, regarding the 2023 presidential election.
The group,in the statement by its National President, Alhaji Mohammed Gwadabe, alleged that Shettima had, during an interview on Arise TV last weekend, questioned the capacity and competence of the former Governor of Anambra State, to lead the country as president.
“In a derogatory tone, Shettima had said that the LP flag-bearer could best be a “president in Igboland”, thereby attracting criticisms from thousands of the latter’s supporters, who identify themselves as “Obi-dients” among other well meaning Nigerians,” it noted.
It quoted Shettima as saying,”The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has no political base and structure to win the next election in 2023. As far as I am concerned, he’s politically structureless with little or no experience to lead this country.
“Nigeria requires a technocrat and a sound administrator who will continue from where President Muhammadu Buhari stopped, not someone who will come to take us back to the era of PDP. Nigerians don’t want that.
“Presidential position is not for the unprepared neither is it an all comers’ affair. Peter Obi can only become a President in Igboland but definitely not in Nigeria. Nigeria is too big for him to handle.
“He has no leadership ideology nor experiences like President Muhammadu and our incoming President in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
While condemning Shettima’s comment, as “provocative”,the youths group called on Nigerians “to reject politicians that promote bigotry, and other tendencies that threaten peace and unity.”
Açcording to the group, ”Shettima’s attack on Obi smacked off perceived bigotry.”
Gwadabe said the governor’s statement was not in line with its belief in the unity of the country, hence their decision to “remove him as patron with immediate effect.”
“Considering the weight of the provocative, divisive and reckless statement made by our patron, Alhajji Kashim Shettima which is against the spirit of unity we stand for, and following consultations from members across the 19 states of Northern Nigeria, and approval from National Executive Committee in our emergency congress held, we, by this statement, announced the immediate removal of the APC Vice Presidential candidate as our patron.
“We are ashamed to associate ourselves with someone of Shettima’s standing who, despite piloting the affairs of his native Borno State as governor for two consecutive terms, still does not know that Nigeria is for everybody, irrespective of tribe, religion and cultural backgrounds.
“The reckless and retrogressive statement he made against Peter Obi and Igbo presidency is his personal view and not that of our organisation which he was a patron at the time of the provocative statement,” Gwadabe said.
Specifically, the youths stated that the caustic statement was a reflection of the former Borno governor’s state of mind, adding, however, that such disposition showed that he could not be trusted with the highest office in Nigeria, or anywhere in the world.
The statement reads in part: “The era where Arewa youths just accept whatever choices, or decisions made by the APC, is gone for good, and that point must not be taken for granted.
“Henceforth, Northern youths, who are distinguished in every right, shall vote character and competence, while relegating tribe and religion to the background, as far as elections that will decide their future are concerned.
“We call on all well-meaning Nigerians, especially our youths and Northern elites, to, in the interest of our diversity and unity, condemn – in the strongest term – this unpatriotic statement capable of igniting ethnic tension in the already-charged polity.
“We hold that such crass propagation of bigotry must not be allowed in a decent society such as ours that is multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and secular in nature.
“In demonstration of our zero-tolerance for rascality, and chauvinism under whatever guise, we have caused the removal of Senator Kashim Shettima, as our patron.
“We are mindful of the fact that, as youths from the Northern region, we are, no doubt, at the receiving end of the insecurity plaguing the nation, with attendant deaths, destruction, and hunger.
“As a matter of fact, there is hardly any part of the North that is peaceful today, as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping have become second nature.
“May we, therefore, use this opportunity to task our leaders to eschew bitterness in their pursuit of political power, knowing that as a fragile nation, all efforts must be geared towards the stability and peace of Nigeria.”
