Nairaland General#endsars, This Is Not The End, A Speech Delivered By O. N. Justice by Jexbabs(op): 4:39pm On Dec 28, 2020
A SPEECH DELIVERED BY OSARENREN NOSA JUSTICE ON BEHALF OF SPEECH WRITING MEMBERS OF GROUP TEN, 400 LEVEL (2019/2020), DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH, ADEYEMI COLLECGE OF EDUCATION, ENTITLED: ENDSARS PROTEST, THIS IS NOT THE END

The Head Of Department,
The lecturer-In-Charge,
Lecturers present,
Colleagues here Present,
Ladies and Gentlemen

"He who fights and runs away, may live to fight another day, but he, that is in the battle slain, can never fight and rise again" says Oliver Goldsmith. Prior to the EndSars protest that started on the 9th of October, 2020, we the Nigerian youths with one voice stand before you all today to make known our stand that THIS IS NOT THE END. Ati like the yoruba speaking protesters would say "a ti n soro soke, asi ma ma n soro soke."
Permit me to start by asking a few questions, with respect to all that happened. Would you watch yourself sink in an ocean when a boat is right beside you? Would you journey on barefooted when a ride is at your disposal? Would you alight from an helicopter and still climb up mountain? As a result of these, I think we, Nigerian youths have shown the first phase of the protest and how desperate we are to hit the second phase in no time. If I must correct a notion at this juncture, the violent part of the protest should not be mistaken for the second phase, because it was not in anyway orchestrated by responsible Nigerian youths. Come to think of it, the whole radical exhibition appears to be the outcome of the involvement of political bodies. Commonsensically speaking, the brutal acts, I mean, the killing of police officers, the burning down of places, the release of prisoners and loathings were carried out by some sets of hired hoodlums. In other words, the protest that seems like a revenge from the youth isn't what it is afterwards. In addition, the conscious masses who took vivid note of the protest are right to say that the protest was highjacked.
The wall of our hearts are indeed painted with the names of our brothers and sisters who lost their lives before the so called SPECIAL ATI-RUBBERY SQUARD (SARS), but revenge is not what we seek to have our dead contemporaries' SOUL REST IN PEACE, we rather seek that the government adhere to our warnings to END SARS and POLICE BRUTALITY.
We started the protest not only to obey the commandment of the Bible that says "Be your brother's keeper" but to also prove to our government that only fools test the temperature of the stream with both feet, because with one foot we tested poverty, with one foot we have tested unemployment, with one foot we have tested lack of good infrastructure, with one foot we have tested bad governance, with one foot we have tested police brutality, with one foot we have tested poor education, with one foot we have tested child abuse, with one foot we have tested inequality, and finally with one foot we stood before the grave of our innocent brothers and sisters. It is time we the masses turned from being spectators into participants, for this is not a fight for one man, by one man to one man. On this note, let me quickly recall the motivating words of former American Presidents:
Theodore Roosevelt said and I quote "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to remain with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat" Nigerians now have too much to do than to sit right there on the sidelines. We need ourselves to step out of the gray twilight into the bright sunshine of this new ENDSARS movement and revolution, so that we can all together see the dawn of the new day we have long-suffered for.
Should we still sit back to wait for the change they promised us? No! We should by now be tired of lukewarmness. Change has become a way of life to a better living. Let us also recall the brave challenge of another American president on this ground, President Abraham Lincoln, on the brink of slavery in the United States dating back to the government of George Washington, who owned slaves who could have been among the noble masses in America. Abraham Lincoln sought change by asserting that "The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate for the stormy present and future. As our circumstances are new, we must think and act anew" and so must we Nigerians in this perilous time. We should now look at this old issue in an entirely new way, not only for today but to make our future more rewarding, more comfortable, more accommodating, more fulfilling, and more compelling. Why, because of the change we make today. With your help and my help, we can think and act anew on the issue before us today.
The EndSars protest is a new movement, our movement. It is for a new revolution, our revolution. A new movement and revolution that; architects cannot renovate, businesses cannot incorporate, churches cannot inculcate, developers cannot innovate, engineers cannot calculate, a power-full movement and revolution that governments cannot legislate, judges cannot adjudicate, lawyers cannot litigate, manufacturers cannot fabricate, politicians cannot appropriate, scientist cannot formulate, technicians cannot generate, a movement and revolution that only you and I can orchestrate.
Just like the iceberg that put an end to the mighty Titanic sheep, Nigerian youths are ready to put an end to SARS, PoliceBrutality, and BadGovernance. Though we are done with the first phase, but THIS IS NOT THE END.

IN LIBYA .01
They don't wanna stay home To make it their own
They are youths That lacks the truth
Leaders of tomorrow That has refused to follow
They want to be rich But for advice the elders they have failed to reach
They want to go to Europe Using the road
They want to go Oversea Via the sea
Running away from poverty Hoping to find liberty
Now hooked up in Libya It's all over the media
Detained in lively boredom Begging for freedom
Our brothers and sisters Your safe trip back home is our prayer
O.N.Justice.

IN LIBYA 0.2
John doe: Where are our brothers? I do not forbid the sisters
Anonymous. They are in Libya To cross to the other side
John doe: Why to Libya? Why the crossing? And where is these other side? A place like heaven or heaven?
Anonymous: No. A place just like here They go to find a greener pasture They go to cross to the other side The other side where they thought they would find success To cross to the other side The other side of the world beyond To cross to the other side The other side, drowning in pacific To cross to the other side The other side, sinking in Atlantic. To cross to the other side The other side where they thought sorrow would be no more
John doe: Our land is green Of good pastures Our land is rich Full of milk and honey
Anonymous: The same I thought But different is their thoughts Our home is our pride But these they know not
John doe: What a shame they are What manner of shame have they brought To us. What now is their plight? Have they found the greener pasture they risk their lives for?
Anonymous: No. But the other way is the story They saw no green pasture But dry yellow pastures That they strive to make That they are forced to change Like slaves With no pay
John doe: Ah! What a shame
Anonymous: That they brought to our nation Now they cry for freedom Seeing our home as kingdom Praising it like the garden of Eden Aiming it like the children of Israelite
John doe: Our home is indeed the promised land.
