MsNas: True that. The market in Ibadan is big enough to accomodate the malls and also the open markets. The population in Ibadan is enough to sustain the growth and expansion of all those chains of retail marketing; people from southwest states farther inland do come shop in Ibadan anyways. What I fear is if the market women in places like Agbeni, Oje, Beere and co won't suffer because of this upward trend in retail mall business. I used to love going to those open markets as a kid and see my Mom or Dad haggling over the price of whatnot.

I've never being to any of those malls in Ibadan, but I sure would love to visit. It will be a welcome change in the way business is being done and also cater to the needs of the upwardly mobile Ibadan residents.

god thank you for this. I went to a friends house on 30th of Dec. 2013. it got late that I could no longer go back to my own home. so I decided to sleep over but there was not enough room in my friends house so the only option was for me to sleep in another friends house close to the one I visited. i slept alone in a room . around 3.10 my chest region became cold and I felt somebody placed a heavy load on me and was pressing the load against me. I felt I was being choked to death, found it hard to shout the name of our lord Jesus but when i finally succeeded in shouting it for more than 5 times I heard the locked door open and regained my whole self again. From your history, I think you have Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) aka Bacterial Overgrowth Syndrome.

How did I get here?

Like I mentioned before, bowel sounds are normal. But the absence or hyperactivity of them becomes a problem. Your case is not related to the absence or presence of food. Or any kind of food in particular. So this put off so much.

I was left with either of bowel obstruction, bacterial overgrowth, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Your bowels would produce plenty sound in trying to overcome an obstruction. If you had an obstruction, you would have had either of vomiting or constipation depending on the location. But no.

Next was bacterial overgrowth syndrome. Abnormal bacterial growth in our gut produces a lot of gas...causing so much noise. When you mentioned how excessive you farted and how badly smelly it was...my diagnosis was strengthened.


No abdominal pain, No blood in stool, etc settled the rest.

*Have you had frequent stooling?

*Have you had inability to pass stool?

* Do you belch excessively?

* Is your abdomen unusually bloated?

*Is your abdomen bigger than normal ?

PS: Abdominal sounds are normal. But when they are absent or excessive(like in your case) it arouses a suspicion of an underlying disease. This is strengthened if you have additional symptoms(which is why I asked those questions up there).

However, you could still be healthy if those additional symptoms are absent, and if further investigations reveal that your GIT is in order.

How loud is this noise?

What time of the day does this "noise in your stomach" come? Or does it occur at all times?

Are these "noises" associated with food or bowel habits? If yes, what kind of food.

Have you had any relief from the "noises" before? If yes, what relieved you.

Do you have an associated nausea or vomitting, loss of appetite, change in bowel habits ?

it has been on for over six months. no relief yet
it occurs almost every time. no loss of appetite unless I don't have food to eat. no particular food causes it. the noise can hardly be noticed by someone by my side unless u puts your ear close to my tummy.
I ones did six to six yet the noise occurred so I reasoned that with or without food the noise occurs. thanks for ur concern.

yemi2plus: Have you tested positive for any infection before? That's one of the signs of a bacteria infection.

have not done such test before. thanks for the reply. what test should I go for

pls docs why does my stomach make a lot of noise. I have taken ketrax and Andrew liver salt yet it persist. what else should I do.
