wiegraf:Homosexuality is a sin and its against Gods order of life and nature. The devil himself didn't entice Adam rather the woman. Was it a mistake that God created man and woman? No. Morally its bad, spiritually its a sin. Gays are condemned and have no place in Gods kingdom. I don't claim to be holy but I know LGBT don't be a space according to the word of God. |

Bishop David Oyedepo has always said the mission institutions of higher learning his mission began establishing just over 13 years ago are for the creation of expert thinkers, solution providers and world changers. Ayokunle Adeniran also known as Sean, a graduate of one of these schools – Covenant University – has emerged one of the visible proofs of that claim consistently made by the Chancellor for over a decade. The Mechanical Engineering Graduate, who is now an Engineer with a Queens, NY based firm may have solved one of the biggest problems of Nigerian youth. Imagine its 6am on a Monday, you have an appointment by 830 am in Victoria Island. You live in Oregun and can possibly beat some traffic to make it there just in time. Only one problem… your dress shirt is rumpled. I mean the creases in that thing make it look like a swimming pool, assuming its an aqua blue dress shirt. Thankfully there is power supply from the Ikeja Disco but just as you finish ironing the collar and proceed to tackle the rest of the shirt, the DISCO ceases to supply power. At this point, you know you’re in trouble as many Nigerians who’ve had this be the reason they couldn’t make it to an appointment, interview, or to a Total Man Concept lecture at 9am or stab Chapel service on Wednesday morning. Whilst it may be that not every Nigerian has this problem, after all many have generators or patronize drycleaners that help to avert this particular problem, nevertheless Mr. Adeniran’s groundbreaking innovation stands as a clear beacon of hope to the myriad of everyday challenges confronting tens of millions of Nigerians and Africans at large. His #NEPALESSIron as he likes to call it is a pressing iron that uses an inbuilt heating process patented by him to iron clothing without recourse to electricity. Sean has always been known by his colleagues to be very inventive and enterprising, as a student he did everything from building prototype cars to helping students repair gadgets and even designing and selling lecture notebooks to pay for his tuition and other educational requirements. The now successful NY based engineer has not lost his passion for creating, designing and engineering with a hope to make life easier for a people desperately in need of solutions. One alumni who graduated in 2009 said, “There were festive periods (even Christmas) where he would remain in school, working, thinking and innovating. Dreaming even. He didn’t have access to some of the basic luxuries most students had such as even a family to go home to during the holidays, so he would just do what he knows best…create.” Covenant University provides a haven for students who want to utilize their creative juices. There is a conducive atmosphere for learning and there is virtually electricity 24 hours a day, all year round. These are some of the factors that contributed to Sean’s success. It also helped that the Chancellor, often called controversial by section of the public that do not identify his vision, continuously hammered into the students’ leadership skills and prophetic declarations that the next generation of world changers would emerge from within their ranks. Mr. Adeniran and his innovation are a testament to this fact. http://www.theheraldng.com/how-this-covenant-university-alumnis-ground-breaking-invention-will-make-your-life-easier-nepalessiron/?wt=2

otiigba1:Really? were u expecting him to 'change' his security processes? cos he promised change, he must sacrifice his security. lets reason this critically. he can never have control over his security 100 percent. we are not more knowledgeable or experienced than the DSS, police, NIA and co. no way. we may insult them but thats the best way they can protect their principal - being on the move. |
vheMa:Really, i didnt check. in fact i just checked now. lol |
OsamaB:Boss, it is not out of place for the roads to be blocked when the president is passing. it is for his security. there is no way he can order the his security not to block the road, they will object to it. the queen, prime minister, even obama have no control over their security. look at this, obama's phones were seized when he became president. he wasnt even allowed to use twitter personally. the queen is immune to obey trafic the same wit putin, and others. Buhari is on track with the road being blocked. hold up must not catch him. i watched a youtube video where hilary clinton's convoy was held up in traffic, the security were not happy as they had to deploy more security. you can only safe guard your principal more when he is on the move. Obasanjo did it, Yardua did, goodluck did, buhari is doing it. thats just the right thing to do. |

Re-elected Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will be lobbied to declare amnesty for members of the terrorist Boko Haram sect who are ready to “come out of the bush and de-radicalize”. Shettima made the pledge as he addressed citizens of Borno during his inauguration today. He said, “We have gone through the most savage insurgency of the Boko Haram sect, which massacred thousands of our people; especially destroying the cream of Borno youth and ensuring that into the next generation, we will be faced with a demographic crisis that will challenge our creative ingenuity, to overcome. He blasted the Goodluck Jonathan administration describing it as “a hostile Federal Government, which lived in denial about the savagery of Boko Haram and which also saw the insurgency from the most perverted, narrow and irresponsible prism, that somehow, the insurgency had been fuelled against it, by the political and other elites of this part of Nigeria.” “They therefore did only the barest and most perfunctory, to stem the problem. Meanwhile, our people suffered and our communities were systematically laid to waste but Democracy has become the saving grace for the people. “With our votes, we threw out a government at the centre, which did not work in the national interest and have now voted into power, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is also being inaugurated into power today in Abuja.” Shettima said the Buhari administration would be a listening government who would assist the people and the state to grow and to develop. Speaking on the amnesty program for Boko Haram, he said, “Unless we want to engage in an endless war of attrition that will be hallmarked by the continuing destruction of lives and property, it becomes imperative that willing members of the Boko Haram sect that want to come out of the bush must be given the opportunity to be de-radicalized and then rehabilitated to become useful citizens of society,” he said. “It is never easy to accept back into the community, those who have taken up arms, killed, pillaged, raped and destroyed. But in the long run, society must make very expensive choices for peace, reconciliation and development. We are therefore appealing to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the International Community to assist our endeavour in that regard.” http://www.theheraldng.com/buhari-will-give-boko-haram-amnesty-gov-shettima-pledges-in-inaugural-address/ |
Floyd Mayweather’s estimated haul from his May 2 welterweight title fight against Manny Pacquiao – a bout that vaulted Money and Manny to the top of ESPN The Magazine’s annual list of the highest-paid pro athletes. Total revenue from the long-anticipated fight could be north of $500 million – roughly equal to the 2014 gross domestic product of Tonga – with Mayweather clearing somewhere around $250 million and Pacquiao, the former WBO champ, an estimated $150 million. Barcelona’s Lionel Messi ($56.3 million) and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo ($50.2 million) remain the top-paid soccer players on the planet – and third and fourth in the survey. Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel’s decision to leave Red Bull for Ferrari resulted in a new contract with a base salary of $50 million, making the 27-year-old German the top-earning driver and fifth on the overall list. Fellow F1 competitors Fernando Alonso ($40 million) and Lewis Hamilton ($31 million), along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic ($35 million), the star forward of France’s Ligue 1 Paris Saint-Germain squad, occupy spots six through eight. The 333 teams in the ESPN/SportingIntelligence Global Salary Survey pay their athletes a combined $17.94 billion — led by a French soccer team whose players get an average of $9.4 million each. Rounding out the survey’s top 10 are two former Cy Young Award recipients: the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw ($31 million), the reigning back-to-back National League winner, and the Detroit Tigers’ Justin Verlander ($28 million), the American League winner who has yet to play this season due to injury. The Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant ($23.5 million), who was limited to just 35 games this season, is the top basketball player at No. 21 and one of three NBA players in the top 25. Cleveland Browns defensive back Joe Haden’s $22,978,193 salary led all football players, though no NFL player cracked the top 25. In the NHL, the top earner was Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber, with a salary of $14 million. Serena Williams, the top female on the list, won seven tournaments in 2014, including the US Open, which helped her earn $9.3 million in prize money for the year.

The Independent Electoral Commission in Akwa-Ibom state has declared the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Udom Emmanuel as the winner of the governorship polls. Udom polled 996,071 votes as against his main rival, Umana Okon of the All Progressives Congress who got 89,865 votes. It will recalled that the APC have asked for the elections to be cancelled even before the actual voting started owing to the electoral violence in some parts of the state. http://www.theheraldng.com/just-in-inec-declares-pdp-udom-emmanuel-winner-of-akwa-ibom-governorship-elections/

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described as the height of deceit the claims of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari if elected as president. According to a statement issued on behalf of the governor by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka: “If Buhari cannot be above board on issues regarding his academic certificates and health status, he should as well tell the story of his plan to fight corruption to the marines. “A diapers-wearing old man surrounded and being funded by notoriously corrupt people cannot fight corruption.” “I have listened to Buhari saying everywhere he goes that ‘I will fight corruption, I will fight corruption, I will corruption’ as if that statement was pre-recorded in his brain and it’s just being played back. Today again, the only word that came out of Buhari’s mouth was ‘I will fight corruption’. “Can a man like Buhari who can hardly do anything on his own because of ill-health fight anything? Can a man, who is contending with wearing diapers when he wants to sleep fight mosquitos not to talk of corruption? “Can a man, whose election is being funded with money from questionable sources fight corruption? Or is Buhari telling us that he also borrowed money to run his campaigns the way he ‘borrowed’ N27 million to obtain his party nomination form? “Most importantly, is Buhari going to fight corruption by jailing people for 400, 300, 200 and 100 years like he did when he was Head of State? Is he going to just dumped people in detention the way he dumped our illustrious fathers like late Chief Adekunle Ajasin, late Chief Bisi Onabanjo, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and late Chief Bola Ige, all of whom served Yorubaland diligently by giving us free education and free health? “I think Buhari should just face other issues and stop this replay of ‘I will fight corruption’ that was obviously recorded in his brain because President Jonathan is already fighting corruption and that has been acknowledged by the Transparency International, which placed Nigeria as 39th most corruption country in the world in 2014 as against the second most corrupt country that Nigeria was rated in 2003. “It is a fact that in year 2000, Transparency International rated Nigeria as the most corrupt country in the world and the country only improved marginally in 2001 and 2003 when it was rated the second most corrupt nation in the world. It was only under the President Jonathan’s government that Nigeria made steady improvement in Corruption Perception Index by becoming the 31st most corrupt country in 2013 and 39th in 2014. “So, Buhari should tell us what else he intends to fight because under President Jonathan, corruption is already being fought, using global best practices.” SEE MORE ON http://www.theheraldng.com/a-diapers-wearing-old-man-funded-by-notoriously-corrupt-people-cannot-fight-corruption-fayose/ |
President Goodluck Jonathan has removed the chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd) from office. This came barely five days after Agwai had said that leadership change was inevitable in Nigeria and that the country’s leaders must accept it and move with it. Speaking last Thursday at the 78th birthday anniversary celebration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta. Agwai had also cautioned the military to stay out of partisan politics if they must win the war against Boko Haram insurgency and other security challenges. Agwai was appointed substantive chairman of the SURE-P on February 6, 2014. Jonathan on Tuesday replaced Agwai with Mr. Ishaya Dare Akau whose appointment, according to the presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, takes immediate effect. Abati said, in a statement, that this was in furtherance of Jonathan's efforts to continuously re-energise and re-position agencies of the Federal Government for optimal service delivery. Abati said: "Mr. Akau, whose appointment takes immediate effect, replaces Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd.) who served as chairman of the SURE-P until today. The new SURE-P chairman hails from Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State and holds Bachelors’ Degrees in the Arts and Law. "Mr. Akau comes to the job with years of experience as a high-level administrator in the nation’s public service. His record of service includes tenures as Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Education Board and Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission". The presidential aide said Jonathan thanked outgoing SURE-P chairman, Agwai, for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours. http://www.theheraldng.com/jonathan-sacks-sure-p-chairman-preaching-change/

A shocking video has emerged of Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly openly admitting that he refused to sign a resignation letter that would have seen him hand over his vice presidential position had General Buhari been successful in his presidential campaign in 2011. In an interview with Kadaria Ahmed aired in July 2013, the firebrand pastor cum politician was queried as to whether his refusal to step down contributed to the breakdown of the proposed merger between CPC and ACN prior to the 2011 elections. “It was not stepping down that was the issue,” Bakare responded. “It was resigning on paper with my signature, to sign as Vice President of Nigeria. I said, ‘No, I can’t do that. I can resign as Tunde Bakare, a candidate, but I cannot resign as Vice President, an office I have not occupied.’ That is illegal.” “Are you saying they were willing to allow your name to go forward in the polls and then they expected that once you’d won the election, you would resign as Vice President?” queried Ahmed in the pilot edition of her show ‘Straight Talk With Kadaria’ currently airing on Channels Television. “That is what they were asking for,” Bakare admitted. “But I was not ready to commit perjury, to sign an office I have not occupied.” Clearly perplexed, Kadaria questioned as to why Bakare still chose to support a party that intentionally instructed him to be involved in perjury, adding that his position as a pastor puts him on an even higher moral pedestal in the eyes of the public. “My moral code is simple – I am the salt of the earth and the light of the world,” Bakare retorted. “Light does not run away from darkness and salt does not run away from corruption. What you do is contact without contamination.” The user who uploaded a short snippet of the interview on YouTube today opined that a similar agreement had been forged with current Vice presidential candidate, Pastor Yemi Osinbajo of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) led by Pastor Enoch Adeboye. “This is the same agreement their stooge, Pastor Yemi Osibanjo, has signed for Tinubu that will ensure APC’s dream for a Muslim/Muslim Ticket if Buhari wins,” the video description controversially reads. http://www.theheraldng.com/bakare-bombshell-forced-sign-resignation-letter-vp-candidate-buhari-2011/

The senior special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe has taken the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate to the cleaners over his refusal to participate in public debates. In a Facebook post, Dr. Okupe said Buhari was suffering from little mental capacity, and superficial understanding of Good Governance. He said, “Buhari will not debate anywhere. Reason: All the organizers are compromised according to him. So what will they do? He believes all the organizers are so corrupted that he and his team suspect they may give President Jonathan the questions before time. If that is their problem there is a simple solution. Meet with organizers and request that all questions except follow ups be given to all candidates prior to the debate. “However watching his performance on channels this morning at the, hurriedly put together, meeting with business community in Lagos, the reason for the rejection for a proper debate become too clear. General Buhari unarguably has little mental capacity, extremely superficial if not pedestrian understanding of good governance and embarrassingly archaic knowledge of developmental economics. “Apart from the obvious choreography employed throughout the 40mins discussion it was impossible for an informed and impartial observer to go away with anything. “There were no policy statements, No insight into any directions their government will be going. Nothing to compare with what is in place now. Lowest point was Buhari’s mundane and unintelligent response to the very cogent question raised by Foluso Phillips, chairman NESG. http://www.theheraldng.com/buhari-avoiding-debates-due-little-mental-capacity-dr-okupe/ |

ba7man:its a shame unto us cos he is our leader and we voted him in. he is a reflection of the people he leads. so we are all clueless so to say. if the head is rotten, then the whole body is finished too. sadly it applies to us and we have the opportunity to 'right' the 'wrongs'. i am so saddened at these deaths. just imagine he military telling us just 150 deaths. are the dead chickens that they are just 150. ba7man:God bless you bruv! i just cant see myself replyin him. he is the confused one actually. souls are lost daily and we are not doing anything about it. Nigerians are not known to be this callous without any human feelings. we have taken deaths especially gruesome deaths as way of life. we dont regard human life as it should be regarded normally. God help us. |
PassingShot:your presido is of the belief that by not talking about it, it will be swept under the carpet. he condoled with France over 17 deaths, though unfortunate but here with tens of thousands gone, nothing to say rather he is accusing MEND of planning to assasinate him, Buhari should showhis certificates. what a shame |
Shocking satellite images of destroyed towns and razed houses have confirmed eyewitness accounts that Boko Haram slaughtered hundreds of people this month in its worst-ever massacre in Nigeria, human rights groups say. The wave of savage attacks continued relentlessly for several days after Boko Haram captured the Baga military base on Jan. 3. The Nigerian military has insisted that only 150 people died, including militants, but the newly released satellite images suggest a far more horrifying toll. Satellite pictures obtained by Amnesty International show the towns of Baga and Doron Baga on January 2 – before the attack – and five days later, 3700 structures have been damaged or destroyed. According to Daniel Eyre, researcher for Amnesty International, who has spent the last week compiling eye-witness accounts, gunmen went house to house, pulling people out and shooting them. Residents of the town fled into the bush, but Boko Haram men were waiting for them there, hiding in the trees, and shooting anyone who passed. Eye-witnesses talk of hundreds of bodies in the streets, but they were fleeing too fast to stop and count. Government officials at first were silent and then came out with contradictory numbers. “But it’s important to note that Boko Haram kill all civilians, not just the militia,” he said. Alexis Okeowo, one of the best and bravest journalists in Nigeria, has also reflected on the impossibility of getting reliable death tolls from a place where journalists risk being killed or kidnapped She is, however, sure that this situation is not inevitable. ‘The sad fact is that Boko Haram could have been defeated by now, by a more competent and more determined Nigerian government,’ she writes. The images show more than 3,700 damaged or destroyed houses in just two of the estimated 16 towns and fishing villages that the Islamist extremist militia attacked around Baga in northeastern Nigeria on the shores of Lake Chad, according to Amnesty International, one of the groups that released the satellite images. Lawrence Nomanyagbon Anini, Nigeria’s most notorious armed robber, was born sometime in 1960. He terrorised the old Bendel State, especially its capital, Benin City in the 1980s. By 1986, his robbery exploits had reached such a terrible level that it became a national issue. He operated along with his lieutenant, Monday Osunbor, and others. However, one striking feature in the Anini reign of terror was police complicity. It was soon discovered that the Anini gang had insiders within the Police hierarchy. George Iyamu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, was their arrowhead. Anini, dreadfully called ‘The Law’ or ‘Ovbigbo’, was born in a village about 20 miles from Benin City. He migrated to Benin at an early age, learned to drive and became a skilled taxi driver within a few years. He became known in Benin motor parks as a man who could control the varied competing interests among motor park touts and operators. He later took to criminal acts in the city and soon became a driver and transporter for gangs, criminal godfathers and thieves. Soon after, he decided to create his own gang. They started out as car hijackers, bus robbers and bank thieves. Gradually, he extended his criminal acts to other towns and cities far north and east of Benin. The complicity of the police is believed to have enhanced Anini’s reign of terror in 1986. Early that year, two members of his gang were prosecuted over an earlier under-the-table ‘agreement’ with the Police to destroy evidence against the gang members. The incident, and Anini’s view of Police betrayal, is believed to have spurred retaliatory actions by Anini. In August, 1986, a bank robbery linked to Anini was reported in which a police officer and others were killed. That same month, two officers on duty were shot at a barricade while trying to stop Anini’s car. During a span of three months, he was known to have killed nine police officers. In an operation in August of 1986, the Anini team struck at First Bank, Sabongida-Ora, where they carted away N2, 000. But although the amount stolen was seen as chicken feed, they left the scene with a trail of blood. Many persons were killed. On September 6, same year, the Anini gang snatched a Peugeot 504 car from Albert Otoe, the driver of an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Christopher Omeben. In snatching the car, they killed the driver and went to hide his corpse somewhere. It was not until three months later that the skeleton of the driver was spotted 16 kilometers away from Benin, along the Benin-Agbor highway. A day after this attack, Anini, operating in a Passat car believed to have been stolen, also effected the snatching of another Peugeot 504 car near the former FEDECO office, in Benin.
