SportsManchester City Make It 32 Games, 258 Days Since They Lost A League Or Cup Game by Jidefido(op): 5:59am On Jan 07, 2018
Argentina hitman, Sergio Aguero scored twice in two second-half minutes to help Premier League leaders Manchester City fight back to beat Burnley and reach the FA Cup fourth round to make it 32 games and 258 days since City were last beaten in the league or either domestic cup – by Arsenal in their FA Cup semi-final on 23 April 2017.

A John Stones mistake let in Ashley Barnes to give Burnley a surprise lead.

However, Aguero levelled from a quickly-taken free-kick and made it 2-1 from Ilkay Gundogan’s back-heel.

Leroy Sane ran on to David Silva’s pass to add the third before Bernardo Silva slotted the fourth into an empty net.

City’s win stretched their domestic unbeaten run to 26 games this season and keeps alive their chances of winning four trophies.

That defeat ensured City boss Pep Guardiola would end his first season in English football without a trophy – the first campaign he had failed to secure silverware in his managerial career.

This season is shaping up to be very different, with this impressive recovery keeping City in all four competitions and in with a chance of completing an unprecedented quadruple.

As well as being in the hat for round four of the FA Cup, City are 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League, in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and the last 16 of the Champions League.

Guardiola said afterwards that it was “an honour” to have Aguero in his side.

The Argentinean was reportedly unhappy at City before Christmas because of his lack of opportunities in big games, but following the win over Burnley his manager said: “Both goals were amazing – the finishing, and the assists. The first one was clever and quick, and the second one was a magnificent assist, then the dribbling and good finishing.

“I have to say is an honour to have Sergio under my command.

“He is the kind of player who always wants to play, so I can understand that sometimes he is sad when he doesn’t play, but I want him to be happy.”

SportsI Can Never Be Suspended For Match Fixing Like You – Mourinho Tells Conte by Jidefido(op): 8:12am On Jan 06, 2018
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has taken his feud with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte higher by saying he will never be “suspended for match-fixing”.

Conte received a four-month suspension while at Juventus in the 2012-13 season for failing to report match-fixing at his previous club Siena.

Conte was acquitted of sporting fraud charges in 2016. Prosecutors had requested a six-month suspended sentence following accusations he failed to report episodes of match-fixing while in charge at Serie B side Siena in 2011.

The former Italy manager – who has always denied any wrongdoing – served a four-month ban in relation to the affair in 2012.

Mourinho’s comments came after Conte had accused the Portuguese of forgetting his own antics in the past.

Conte had reacted angrily this week to Mourinho’s assertion that he did not need to act like a “clown” in his technical area, saying: “I think he has to see himself in the past – maybe he was speaking about himself in the past.”

Speaking after his side’s 2-0 FA Cup third-round win over Derby, Mourinho said the “clown” comments were not directed at Conte.

But he added: “The only thing I want to say to end the story is that yes, I made mistakes in the past on the touchline. Yes, I will make less but I think I will still make a few.

“What never happened to me – and will never happen – is to be suspended for match-fixing. That never happened to me and will never happen.”

Mourinho was then told by a journalist that Conte has been charged by football authorities in the past with failing to report match-fixing.

“Did he? Not me,” the United boss replied.

SportsMourinho Has A Mental Problem Called ‘senile Dementia’ – Conte by Jidefido(op): 8:05am On Jan 06, 2018
Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has taken a huge dig at his predecessor, Jose Mourinho’s obsession with his team two years after he was sacked as manager.

According to Conte, the Manchester United boss has a mental problem which he has identified as “senile dementia.”

Mourinho, who coached Chelsea two times, appeared to take a swipe at the Italian and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, for their antics in the technical area yesterday when he said he did not feel the need to behave like “a clown” on the touchline.

Asked about Mourinho’s comments during his [ress conference on Friday, the former Juventus coach used the Italian phrase “demenza senile” in relation to the Portuguese, which translates as senile dementia.

He said, “I think he has to see himself in the past — maybe he was speaking about himself in the past.

“Maybe, sometimes, I think that someone forgets what’s said in the past, which is his behaviour.

“Sometimes I think there is, I don’t know the name, but demenza senile… when you forget what you do in the past.

“There is a person that continues to look here. You understand? He went away, but he continued to look here.”

During the 2-2 draw at Emirate on Wednesday, Wenger accused Eden Hazard of diving to earn a penalty but Conte believes other decisions went the Gunners’ way and referred to previous meetings.

“I think if Arsene Wenger watched the game again, (he would) understand he was very lucky during the game with the referee’s decisions.

“Don’t forget, in the last few games (with Arsenal) we finished the game with 10 men, when they won the FA Cup, the Community Shield. I think the referee’s decision(s) were a bit strange.

“If I want I can talk about refereeing decisions for one month. But I don’t want to do this. I think we must have respect for referees’ decisions.

“I think Wenger has to accept the decisions. He’s an old coach, he has a lot of experience, he won a lot. He has to continue to do what he did in the past,” he told reporters.

ComputersAdejumoke Famade: The Female Tech Head Who Repairs Computers by Jidefido(op):
According to Harriet Tubman, "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world," and this is apt in the life of Miss Adejumoke Famade whose entrance into the tech world was divinely orchestrated.
Her sojourn into IT world came to life when she failed her JAMB to study Medicine. She was devastated but with the guidance of her mother, she saw an opportunity in her supposed failure.
According to her “I initially wanted to go for medicine but thank God I failed JAMB! I had 171 and had to stay at home. Although Babcock picked me for Social Works, my mom disapproved of it. Then she later enrolled me at a computer school (NIIT). It was there I found out that computer science was actually a cool course and when I wrote JAMB again, I picked Computer Science and I passed the cut-off.”
But what led her to love computer so much. According to her “It started during my IT. I went there as a computer software student but my supervisors there were mostly for infrastructure so they influenced me to do infrastructure.”
As fate would have it, the program was meant for three months but it extended into four months. In her words, she said “I started with infrastructure and before I knew it, I was going four months into it. From the first month in infrastructure, I was already dismantling and assembling systems in less than thirty minutes.”
Her ability to do the extra ordinary didn’t go unnoticed as she started fixing systems for even the Human Resource Director (HRD). When the program was ending, she was well appreciated as the office bought her tools because they knew that that was what she loved.
But life is not without its challenges especially for a lady in a male dominated industry. According to her “the other challenge I face is when a client wants to fix a system and I am at work (this is not the only work I do).”
“Then there are people who message you at odd hours to make enquiries. Another challenge is that many of my clients are also from South Africa and other states in the country. And then there are also people who want you to repair their laptops at a ridiculously low price, she said.
She further stated that she is often tested by people to see if she can actually repair computers and she always prove them wrong. Always!
However, she feels the female folk don’t help matters a lot. In her words she said “some women look down on me. Sometimes women don’t like when women progress. There was a time a woman called me incompetent because I was female.”
Due to her resilience and believe in God, she knows she must have enemies and has the Bible has her weapon. She believes one must manage his or her emotions so no one brings you down as she dreams of becoming the richest woman in the IT world in the nearest future.

SportsThe Real Reason Footballers Cover Their Mouths On The Field by Jidefido(op): 4:56am On Dec 27, 2017
[img][/img]
It is a common sight to see footballers these days covering their mouths while talking to teammates, managers, opposition players and even the referees.

The general belief is that the players cover their mouths to minimize the risk of being caught revealing vital information or tactics to the opposing team or worse still, using vulgar, uncouth statements on the field of play.

But in truth, the real reason they speak to each other that was has nothing to do with secrecy – it is all down to making sure they are being heard.

According to a renowned PR consultant Phil Hall, who has worked with some of the biggest clubs and names in the Premier League, says no-one is being advised to cover up to protect vital team plans.

Hall said: “A player once told me one of the main reasons they do it is, sometimes you are doing it when you are close to somebody, it amplifies your voice so they can hear you.

“There is a lot of noise around them in a stadium and on the pitch, they need to amplify the voice.

“In a loud ground, when you speak normally the sound is being spread out.

“It’s like a foghorn, if you put your hand over your mouth and point it to the person you are talking to it is much clearer.”

Hall has worked closely with Manchester City, West Ham and Crystal Palace in recent years, as well as advising other high profile managers and players.

And though TV stations have looked into lip reading managers and players in other countries, he says it is not common in the UK.

He added: “It started in South America where a couple of TV stations hired guests to start reading what was being said on the benches and what was being said by the players.

“They employed lip readers and various methods to find out what was being said tactically by the bench to the players.

“But the players themselves over here, I think are just aping what they see on the continent. I don’t think over here they are being actively advised to cover up.

“I have certainly not seen any evidence of lip reading over here, at any of the clubs I have done work with.

“When Roy Hodgson went to the World Cup, a lip reader announced she was going to interpret everything he was saying on the bench and publish it on a blog – so you can see why they are getting more and more cautious.

“But I don’t think they have been briefed.

“I have not heard anybody saying anything about anybody being lip-read. I’ve never been asked to advise on anything like that.

“In NFL there is a whole pattern of tactics and play calls that can be read by a lip reader, but in football the game is just not that structured where it could potentially make a difference.”

SportsAnd The Team Called Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City by Jidefido(op): 4:50am On Dec 27, 2017
And The Team Called Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City – The ‘Incoming’ Greatest Premier League Side EVER

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is about to further rewrite the history books once again with his spell bounding, captivating, mesmerising football tactics.

He came into the limelight in Barcelona when his first campaign in charge brought success in the form of the UEFA Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey.

It was the club’s first ever treble and at 37 years of age, it made Guardiola the youngest manager to lift the UEFA Champions League in history.

Manchester City’s remarkable start to the season has not simply been a sustained attack on every opponent to cross their path – only Everton have taken points off them – but now has the potential to turn into an assault on the record books.

This Manchester City team are more direct and are bludgeoning opponents with their array of deadly assassins.

City’s 16th successive league victory, achieved with such style and emphasis against opponents ranked as possible Premier League challengers at the start of the season, extended the record they set in midweek for the highest number of consecutive wins.

Like someone said on twitter and I quote him “Before 2015, EPL was a truly democratic league and every club had right to FREE SPEECH. Then came Pep Guardiola. Just like Buhari, He is a former Military dictator from LA LIGA and doesn’t tolerate any form of opposition” (Ebube D Statesman (@akaebube)

Of the many milestones achieved already, this latest victory means City are the first team since Wolves in 1953-54 to beat Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham in the league before Christmas.

The winning run is unlikely to end here, with the opportunities presented by upcoming games at home to Bournemouth and away to Newcastle United and Crystal Palace unlikely to be wasted.

They are on course to break Chelsea’s record of 30 wins in a Premier League campaign, a feat Antonio Conte’s side achieved last season. City already have 17 and need only 14 from their remaining 20 fixtures to achieve that feat.

Chelsea also hold the record for total points won in a season – 95 in 2004-05 under manager Jose Mourinho.

City are well on course, having already amassed 52 in their first 18 games, a tally which means they have equalled the record for the highest points total before Christmas (a record they share with Manchester United, though Sir Alex Ferguson’s side took 21 games to reach that mark in 1993).

If this is all not evidence enough of a side with designs on greatness, what about these?

Guardiola’s side have a goal difference of +44, the same as that of nearest rivals Manchester United and Chelsea combined.

The biggest goal difference in Premier League history is the +71 of Carlo Ancelotti’s double-winning side of 2009-10. They also had the highest goals tally in the league with 103, with City currently on 56 with less than half of the campaign gone.

Guardiola’s eyes will be on the prize of the Premier League title rather than records – but there is no doubt Manchester City’s remarkable run and magnificent football have placed them in a position to radically re-write the record books and make a case, come the end of the season, to be regarded as the greatest side of the Premier League.

Guardiola loves talking about football. It’s a process that begins the first time he meets his players, continues throughout every training session (“He interjects all the time to correct and explain exactly what he wants from us,” recalled Dani Alves of Pep’s early days at Barcelona) and even extends to individual chats every day. Praise is effusive when merited.

Guardiola typically spends two hours per day discussing one-on-one the positional minutiae of what he demands from his players. Entirely self-taught as a player, Jerome Boateng has been the biggest beneficiary at Bayern Munich, adding brains to his prodigious centre-back brawn, while Philipp Lahm still spends 15 minutes after every training session talking in minute detail about midfield play, his hands a blur of explanatory signals. For more instinctive players such as Franck Ribery, less is more.

“Pep doesn’t just give you orders,” said Gerard Pique. “He also explains why.”

Pep’s free-flowing philosophy may be what draws in the casual observer, but he dedicates more training sessions to defensive organisation than anything else. It shows: before the 2015-16 winter break Bayern had conceded only 49 goals in 85 Bundesliga games since he arrived, keeping 50 clean sheets.

Attack is based on innate talent, defence is about the work you put into it. Defensive strategy is absolutely essential if I want to attack a lot

“Attack is more based on innate talent,” he once said. “Defence is about the work you put into it. Defensive strategy is absolutely essential if I want to attack a lot.”

From all indications, there is simply nothing stopping this team from breaking every football protocols and records. All fingers crossed!!!

There is poor media coverage here on this Tinubu son that is now late.

Why I am saying this is because we do not know the mother of the late man.

Is he the son or stepson of senator Oluremi Tinubu?

A prominent man like Jagban Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not be a problem when identifying his household.

Therefore, I call on Bola Tinubu or his media assistant to clear the air on who is the mother of this late son.

Thanks.
Remi Tinubu just has 2 children for Jagaban. And Jide is not one of them, meaning a child from some love interests in the past.

I never knew people sold their blood until recently. I thought blood was donated. I woke up to a startling revelation that my boyfriend makes money selling his blood to blood banks. I don't know what to do. No wonder he is always at the clinic. What should I do?
Seems you have a good heart! I donate blood regularly without being paid for it cos i may be saving a life in the long run. its however understandable that ur boyfriend is selling his. you wont blame him for such maybe he is cash strapped and has to survive and cant depend on you and all that. you know him better. You can talk him out of that and make him see why he needs to give out his blood willingly and not for sale.

I weep whenever I read the book of Ecclesiastes. Though I am agnostic, I feel like it was written because of me. We are all dust and will return to dust. I felt so troubled in my heart about earthy things one day while I was driving, I just came down from my car and gave some random person I never knew my ipad and some cash( I didn't even count). There is nothing in life, we only have one life to live. Make good use of it. Break limitation and be remembered. How many wealthy men do you look up to without their money? People value worthy men not money
I learnt a new word from you today. Agnostic -- a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God. Sometimes, I reason the way you do. This life is so simple and shouldnt be taken so serious though the circumstances around us physically, spiritually and co make it difficult sometimes. We should learn to help people as much as we can. Thats a true purpose of life. some people will say its poverty mentality to say we came to this world empty and we will go back empty. Look at Bill Gates, and co. God bless you ma'am

Nairaland GeneralRECAP: Why HITV Failed, By Toyin Subair by Jidefido(op): 6:26am On Sep 28, 2017
My great mentor asked me one day, a few years ago, why after the appointment of a Receiver/Manager by GTB over the assets of HiTV I gave up fighting and just rolled into a semi coma.
He said this because, he knew how hard we fought to save it. I responded with the story of King David crying to GOD over his sick child but then quickly wiped his face off, ate and started drinking, when the child was pronounced dead.
You really just must know when to move on so that you can see and take the future opportunities that will come your way.
Thereafter, Solomon, the wisest and richest ruler of Israel was born to David because he looked and lived forward.
People who care, ask me what happened to HiTV and others in their supreme wisdom profess their own reasons. I have kept my peace and quietly moved on in life, until I wrote an article recently about 1 million Digital Jobs from the Creative sector. I realise, however, that if I am throwing a challenge to other entrepreneurs to be bold and creative, I, who used to be a poster boy for a generation and who failed after 5 years of a great business endeavour, owed it to them to share my HiTV experience.
Choose your shareholders carefully and know the implication of every clause in your Shareholders agreement, if you are going to sign one.
HiTV collapsed essentially because of a clause in our original Shareholders Agreement, which allowed a group of founding shareholders to block the company raising money or selling off a subsidiary. This right was exercised to block our capital raise because it was believed to be a possible ploy by another group to take control of the company. We the management were caught in the middle and it took us another 8 months to pursue the alternative that was acceptable to the shareholders but by that time the equity market had gone bust, leaving us grovelling all over for debt.
Every power you give up has future ramifications so don’t sign away your life for what may be a quick fix or a “morsel of bread” as it might come back to bite you. The same right you give to Mr A and is used wisely, will in the hands of Mr B be used to destroy your dreams.
I failed to know and manage my investors properly, which made it hard for me to mediate when they didn’t see eye-to-eye.
Perception is EVERYTHING in Nigeria

Your neighbour, banker, staff, bloggers, enemies are watching you and it is not what you are that matters but what others see and are saying about you.
Once you are funded by other people’s money, either investors or bankers, it matters what they think. So your lifestyle must be measured. Even if you have access to other sources of income, you must be prudent in spending and seen to be prudent else it will be assumed that you are “extravagant” and/or diverting other people’s money for your own personal use.
Solely because it is common place in Nigeria for executives to mismanage corporate funds, people are quick to judge and assume every situation is the same . I never touched company money or take a single bribe or kick back. HiTV had full corporate governance rules in place and a budget that was jealously guarded by a Board that sat 6 times in a year. Even when I went out or travelled with a supplier, I always insisted on paying, but only my shareholders and management team knew that. This forthrightness of mine made me throw caution to the wind since I knew I was clean BUT unfortunately I didn’t realise the negative impact it could have on my reputation. The first thing your adversaries or haters target in order to bring you down, is your reputation. Protect it.

Whatever you do, train people and invest in them
One thing we did right was to invest in the lives of our people. I inspired all my staff, which grew to about 380 plus, in 6 locations in Nigeria and a London office, including over a thousand dealers, by making sure I led by example, sent them on trainings, exposed them to the international market and bought them books to read about Media, and very importantly made them know we were all in the same boat. If I was comfortable they also had to be, and if they were going through pains, we had to do it together.
I have always marvelled at the Receiver/Manager and people who thought HiTV could be locked up with chains? HiTV is today a force in different companies making or waiting to make a difference.
However, make sure the people you train and inspire do the same to their sub-ordinates. Usually Nigerians are scared to pass knowledge for fear of being replaced and so you have to teach them to let others fly. Reading the 1 Minute Manager meets Mr Monkey taught me not to micro-manage and get people to earn their pay so that I can be free to do the bigger things. The balance to delegation is to make sure there is a system to ensure that those who are working are justly rewarded.
In the absence of a technical foreign partner, we learnt our trade on the job and intensive trainings and we were just implementing our robust researched systems and processes when the company was closed down. How I would have loved to see its results.
Equity Vs Debt
We gambled on building a company with debt with the hope of converting it to equity once we proved the model. As I said earlier, we were impeded from doing this at the right time. At 25-27% interest on debt, most businesses cannot survive and you will be a slave to the banks for life. That is why they take collateral from you. They lend against your collateral not your business case. Regardless of our strong cashflows, the funding requirements continued to increase. Similar businesses in Europe like Sky, Virgin, Polsat etc had worse debt profiles whilst building up their Brands and subscription models but their markets have sophisticated equity and debt.
Unfortunately, we have no sophisticated equity market and I mean Angel investors and/or Venture Capitalist in Nigeria and without that, who can survive?
It pains me to admit that someone told the then Minister of Information that Nigerians can’t fund our type of business and I was really hoping to prove him wrong but Alas!
We paid 40 million dollars for the first year of the second term of the EPL from mostly equity. But still had to come up with a guarantee of about 70 million dollars for the latter 2 years and in Nigeria, guarantee requires cash in bank. The alternative bank we were forced to use despite all their assurances and being offered half of the amount by another Bank failed to issue same on that fateful Tuesday and only offered it to us on Thursday. Meanwhile the EPL sold it to our competition on Wednesday morning.

Watch your debt profile. HiTV was paying an average of 1.1billion Naira approximately in interests and guarantee charges annually, for over 5 years! For a new company, we did a damn good job but really got blown out once our house was divided. I never live by debt and so was really ignorant about how interest works up till HiTV and of course since then you won’t catch me near it. But what do you do when you have to? They say internationally that “equity is more expensive than debt”, but that is NOT true in Nigeria. Debt is way too expensive and destructive.
At the end of it all I was sued in my personal capacity for the debts of the company by the bank, but we have since sorted out our differences, agreed, signed and filed terms of settlement in all legal actions. The Managing Director simply told me, when we finally met, that since we all owned the company, I had to pay out of the liability and not just dump it on them. It made total sense to me and I offered them what I had, they accepted and that was it. Fair is fair.
You can’t avoid a lot of skin in the game because investors will be looking for this.

You need Government and regulation on your side
I ignored government to my peril. The competition spent a lot of time courting all arms of government and I was a simpleton. We just expected the whole world to cheer us on. The laws in Nigeria are as empty as they are full. A lot of writings but you have to make sure your business model is adequately protected.
What laws do you need, or what interpretations of the laws do you require, go and get it passed or adjudicated. Don’t assume its there and don’t be afraid of offending anyone. A few weeks before we lost the EPL rights we were approached by the competition to share it with them, in writing. We agreed and were completing the approvals on both sides when we lost the rights. Since they bought it, we asked them for it on the same terms as we had agreed to give it to them just 2 weeks prior, they refused. We ran to government to enforce the fairness clauses of the NBC Act but it fell on deaf ears.
We really should have actively pursued the enactment of anti- monopoly laws and competition rules early enough as exist everywhere else in the world. The truth is we never believed in monopoly and offered all our acquired TV rights to anyone who was ready to share the price with us. Our purchase of football rights was defensive, as that was the only way we could get it. Unfortunately, our government was happy to, as they continue to be, leave everything in the hands of foreign dominant players.
And whatever we were ready to pay for those TV rights was still far less than what Nigeria was losing from the repatriation of profits by the foreign companies operating in the country!
They say Power is not served al a carte, you have to take it forcefully. And if you are going to take it, make sure you succeed! I didn’t, but I am glad I tried. It is the most meaningful, joyful and the greatest thing I have ever embarked on. I can still see the sparkle in the eyes of every true partner of that journey I meet.
In conclusion of HiTV 101, I will say this, our thinking that we were doing the right things and following the patterns of all international Pay TV companies was not enough, we had to successfully domesticate those patterns and that proved difficult. Thankfully, our good intentions and hard work have helped most to get great jobs and new opportunities and challenged foreign companies to do more locally.
Whatever you do, live forward.
