I'm not disputing that mac may be the better system for programmers, since I'm yet to use 1.

The least Mac I can use costs more than 600k, an equivalent windows pc will cost me less than 200k. I don’t have plans to develop for Mac anytime soon, me getting 1 now would only be because I want to show off with it.

We need to stop discouraging beginners that Mac is the best, there is no way an average student can afford that. Any decent pc is enough to start programming.

As for me, I would rather have a very strong asset like a land first before I will think of purchasing a Macbook.

Well I have been using Windows along side Linux on my pc for a while. And I can tell you that 80% of the time I use Windows because it conserves more battery and I have the same workflow set up on both os.

With git bash on Windows I have all the basic Linux tools I need. If I need more there is mingw.

I have a separate ntfs partition where I put my codes, that way no matter the OS I boot on, I still continue where I left off.

Windows has also started experimenting with Ubuntu inside windows, you will be able to use bash on Windows and you can install any Linux software (it's nothing like a virtual box). It will be available on the next stable upgrade.

As long as you are not developing for Mac or iPhone. What major software is available for Mac that isn't available on Windows?

Talking of computing power, Windows systems are far cheaper than Macbooks for the same spec.

The arguments are unfair because you made a framework like Laravel and gave someone who was already used to Laravel. Well that wasn't fair to the person too. Even Laravel doesn't try to recreate the wheel that much. It was built on Symphony and it tries to use other open source packages as well. So there was no way you could have made a cmf that would par with Laravel.

Infact I don't have time to start listing the advantages of Laravel over CI because it's just too much.

@dhtml it's not that hard to migrate an existing project to Laravel. You may just need to rewrite your database queries to eloquent which will be much shorter but you can equally write the normal raw sql.
You can copy all your classes to a folder and call it from your controllers, models or any other place.

The default root namespace is App, but you can change it with just 1 artisan command.

For views, it's not compulsory to use blade template, just copy all your views and you may not even need to rewrite them.

Laravel is a modern php framework, any php code / pattern is still valid with it.


There is a smaller framework Lumen, which is usually used for writing api's. It is very similar to Laravel incase you need a small footprint. You can use it without having to learn a new framework.

Am not here to argue what's best or not for you, "different tools for different jobs".

Well think of it as adding more to what you highlighted except it's for Laravel.

Laravel is newer, better and more popular than CI. A peek at both projects on github shows Laravel as twice as much stars than Code igniter.

LoL, you have to be very specific if you're doing such. Because even if the login was successful, the page returned may contain the string 'Wrong username Or passwaord', may be in a particular threads name, the best way is to check if the element holding that error message exists and contains the error message.

There's nothing stopping you from modifying it or writing your own.

You are right, php 7 has really caught up and it performs better on servers with lower resources.

It is called a hash bang. Usually used by single page apps. Check the source code, it may be using backbone or angular or any of those js frameworks.

It can be changed to Localhost/Index.HTML but you will need configure your server to send all urls to the index of that file, so it can be handled by javascript.
