A middle-aged Nigerian man identified as Sunday Uduji, has reportedly killed his brother’s wife, Mrs Eucharia Okoro.

The incident occurred in the Awgu local government area of Enugu State.

The incident, Pecohub gathered, happened on September 4, at Ohaja village in Awgu town.

According to sources, the suspect, Uduji on August 20, 2022, beat the brother’s wife to a pulp. “She was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where she remained in a coma till September 4, when she died,” a source said.

Unfortunately, the source said when the family of the deceased reported the case to the Awgu Division of the Nigeria Police Force, officers at the station demanded N22,500 payment to act on the case.

A notorious ASP Vincent Oke, who is currently being investigated over the sexual assault of a 17-year-old teenager in custody, was accused of saying the money must be paid to open a file on the case.

The source said, “When the father of the deceased, Mr Jarista Okoro reported the case to Awgu police station, he was asked to bring N22,500 before they could incident the case.

“One ASP Oke Vincent told Mr Okoro that the DPO Awgu said he should give the police the said amount of N22,500. When the money was subsequently given to ASP Oke Vincent, he directed that the money be paid to Investigating Police Officer (IPO), one Inspector Chidera.”

The source claimed that the police in Awgu have demanded another N20,000 to transfer the case to the state police headquarters in Enugu.

Villages in Eha-Amufu community, Isiuzo LGA of Enugu state and the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) have set up a joint task force to provide security in the area.

Tony Edeh, chairman of Eha-Amufu LGA, said this on Saturday while briefing journalists after a meeting between the communities and MACBAN in the state.

In January, gunmen suspected to be herders attacked Eha-Amufu, killing locals, and setting buildings on fire.

Edeh, who is the chairman of the Fulani Communities Peace and Reconciliation Committee, said they have reached a resolution on how to tackle the insecurity in the area.

“We have agreed on a number of things on how to move forward and make sure that the conflict is resolved. It is better to follow peace and we have all agreed that we will continue with peace. In no distant time, we will start the implementation of those necessary steps in order to continue to live together peacefully,” he said.

Thailand will raise the price of Thai instant noodles, the trade department said Wednesday, marking the first price increase on the must-have daily staple in 14 years.

The kingdom’s economy has not bounced back after fully re-opening to tourists earlier this year, and has been battered by 14-year-high inflation and the economic knock-on effects of the Russian-Ukraine war.

Prices of instant noodles are capped by Bangkok at six baht ($0.16) per packet but anxious major producers had urged the government to raise the limit to eight baht, citing spiralling costs.

The internal trade department confirmed to AFP that it would approve an increase to seven baht per regular-sized packet, effective from August 25.

Gunmen who kidnapped two students of the Nigerian Law School, Agbani, Enugu State Campus have demanded N50 million as ransom before they would be released from captivity, Pecohub Authoritatively Reports

A mum was hit with a £350 fine after picking up an offensive number plate to make people smile.

A 47-year-old, who asked to remain anonymous, displayed the words “SLUT HO” on her car as her way of “having a giggle” and believes 95 per cent of the population would not be offended by it.

A pilot has spotted an eerie red glow below the clouds that people believe “could be the end of time”.

The spooky video footage was captured over the Atlantic Ocean last Friday and has certainly got people talking over on social media.

A mum-of-two who says she was told the lump on her breast was a result of her re-starting breastfeeding and was nothing to worry about now has just months to live.

Faye Downing was refused a biopsy and a mammogram during the pandemic, and says she was told the issue was “not fibrocystic”.

She has since been diagnosed with an incurable cancer, after it spread to her brain and other parts of her body.

The 29-year-old, from Sheffield, Yorkshire, was told she was “too young” for the treatment she requested after her GP referred her to the NHS Breast Clinic.

Variety reports that Drake has signed a new deal with Universal Music Group that could be worth up to $400 million.

A South Carolina woman contacted 911 multiple times after her adult son brought his girlfriend to spend the night even though she told him she didn’t want her there.

The Spartanburg Sheriff’s Office said the woman consistently contacted 911 after her son’s girlfriend came over to spend the night at their home in Inman. Deputies responded to the call before midnight on Tuesday and said the mother appeared to be “visibly, emotionally upset, and heavily intoxicated” while arguing with her son. Tinder Swindler, Simon Leviev may face prison in Spain after an arrest warrant was issued for the Netflix conman.

Leviev, born Shimon Hayut, has already served time in his native Israel after being arrested for using a false passport in Greece.

The Tinder Swindler’s use of a fake passport in Greece saw him extradited to Israel in 2019 where he faced charges for fraud, theft, and forgery. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison but only served five months in the end after being released for good behaviour.
