PoliticsMinisters Portfolio: I Don't Want Non-performance by Jilo83(op): 8:06pm On Nov 11, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has
revealed real reasons why each of
the new 36 ministers were picked
for the particular portfolios they
got.
Buhari’s ministers
Describing the swearing in
ceremony as a milestone,
President Buhari said that he
made sure the ministers got the
portfolios they got because he
was keen on placing round pegs
in round holes.
According to Sahara Reporters, he
also said since his inauguration in
May, he had been optimistic about
bringing high-quality persons into
his cabinet thus, his reason for
avoiding non-performances as
regards designation of portfolio’s
to the newly sworn-in 36
ministers who are to form his
cabinet.
“We are optimistic that bringing
these set of ministers into the
service of our country today, is astep in the right direction and
timely move towards realising our
positive goals for our country.
“Since we assumed office in May,
I had been mindful of the need to
ensure that the appointment of
new ministers translate into a
round pegs in round holes while
showing sensitivity to our
diversity as a people and our
various positions as groups of
stakeholders of our country.
“I have also been conscious of the
need not to repeat such mistakes
of the past where the right people
were allocated the wrong
portfolios which translated into
their performing poorly to our
collective detriment despite their
obvious capability,” the president
said.
President Buhari went further to
reveal he’s keen on diversifying
the economy to make the
agriculture and solid mineral
sectors major bring in revenue. He
said
“The primary aim is to achieve
self-sufficiency in the production
of rice, wheat and to become a
major consumer and exporter of
those items as well as solid
minerals.”
He said the administration would
pursue policies that would
generate employment, improve
security, tackle corruption and
rout Boko Haram insurgency and
other social vices. He also said
the introduction of the Treasury
Single Account had conserved
foreign exchange and made
money available for governance.
Today, Wednesday, November 11,
President Muhammadu Buhari
Inaugurated 36 ministers that
were recently screened and
cleared by the Senate. The 36
ministers were also given their
portfolios.

Nairaland GeneralTribunal Uphold Ajimobi Election by Jilo83(op): 6:21am On Oct 15, 2015
Governor Ajimobi The five-man panel of the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan yesterday unanimously struck out the petition filed by the Accord governorship candidate in Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ladoja approached the court to challenge the ruling of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ibadan. The tribunal had on August 18 struck out his application seeking the court’s leave to call in a forensic analyst to tender the report made on the inspection of ballot papers and ballot boxes. Ladoja had filed a petition challenging the declaration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the April 11 governorship election. But in the ruling, the court headed by Justice M. Saulawa dismissed the case and upheld the ruling of the tribunal. “Handing a different ruling will be an exercise in futility. “The appeal is dismissed in its entirety and the ruling of the lower tribunal on August 18 is upheld,” Saulawa said. The court also said that the grounds for appeal were incompetent. NAN reports that the application to incorporate a fresh issue by the appellant was also dismissed.
