There is a province in China called Uyghur with large population of Muslims. Many years ago as China began to advance economically the Chinese government knew early that these Muslims will become radicalized by middleeast arabs and become problem to the country in the future so they started converting them to Atheists while pledging support to the China Communist Party ideology.

Many of them have been successfully converted and the area renamed to from Uyghur to Xinjiang. The west should learn from this.
