Covert1: Relevant News: Happy for South Africa at the moment, an important country: Cyril Ramaphosa has just been announced as the new leader of the ANC having won the leadership contest of the party against Jacob Zuma' ex-wife Dlamini-Zuma (hated that so much-a man wanting to impose his ex-wife on a nation). Potentially Ramaphosa is all but guaranteed to become the next President of SA a good thing and hopefully a better deal for the SANDF. A strong SANDF is good for Nigeria and Africa in general. New beginnings 2019.
Ramaphosa should seek to bring SA/Nigeria relationship in the way of the UK/US strategic co-operation on foreign policy acknowledging Nigeria's natural right of Continental leadership.

Guyman02: Nelson Mandela who was hitherto labelled a 'terrorist' was repackaged by the western media after he left the whites in control of the economy leaving the blacks impoverished. You need to educate yourself before coming here to spew your ignorance on politics and economics in South Africa. Its because of fools like you africa is in the state it is today. SA learned from the rest of africa and chose a different path, today yes there are issues of land reform with regards to blacks ownership but we have come a long way compared to other SSA states and I n terms of overall development SA is miles ahead of any African state today. What you need to do is manage your perception because its far from reality. |

shibanbo: Great man but he later sold out,the Mandela that fought before and during his prison terms is different from the Mandela(Madiba) that became the president,he went on to become a staged managed Mandela.who sold out on their Freedom Charter (F.C)Agreement Most of u fools come here out of ignorance and speak as if you knew what the balance of forces were in SA in 1989 to 1994. The fact that SA came out of apartheid intact without a civil war and total destruction of its apartheid built infrastructure was the biggest gift Mandela could give SA. At that very Freedom Charter gave us today the best liberal Constitution on this continent, we in SA enjoy far better constitutional rights today because of Mandela. Tell me do you even know what's in the Freedom Charter, as a South African to a Nigerian I suggest you shut da hell up and focus on getting back the loot all your former dictators stole from Nigeria including your useless Buhari. After 60years plus of Nigerian freedom its still a shitthole that's why you lot are being soled in Libya today or standing in lines for Mandela's Visas. |

While the US/Nato has focused on offensive weapons mainly air superiority and force projection, the Russians with limited resources focused on defensive systems especially in the sphere of mobile layered air defense systems Long/Medium/Short range missiles, this is a fact looking at each of there military doctrines of the past 40 years. |

patches689: Well its an aging system, with a priority contract out for its replacement, and it was used by.... Saudis.
Patriot is the next to be replaced - their focus was on fulling an (unrelated) capacity gap with THAAD, now its MEADS (Patriot Replacement). Long term goal is to replace AEGIS, but they first need to find a ship design to put it in. Zumwalt class was supposed to be a complete solution with potential for the BMD role (Ballistic Missile Defence), but believe it or not it was too expensive to re-code the Zumwalts Total Ship Computing Environment Infrastructure (TSCEI) to full the AEGIS role.
Its tough to accept just how far ahead of us the major powers are... You know this is bs right, the Patriot system was designed with Iraqi and Iranian Scud type ballistic missiles in mind and has been found wanting for almost 2 decades. The Saudi's are using the upgraded PAC-3 Patriot SAM, so its either they lack technical ability to operate the systems or the US sold them knock offs like all superpowers do these days including Russia/China with there inferior export versions but I guess its both. How will they replace AEGIS when they recently tested the latest SM-3 missiles on there Arleigh Burks for Korean Peninsula deployment. This is the exact reason behind Turkey's lack of confidence in western SAM's apart from politics. |

SupremeCourt: I see your point. No wonder Iran refused to buy Russian t-90 tanks, they prefer made in Iran tanks that are same level as modernized t-72. Iran also refused to buy downgraded su-30 from Russia, they say it's either the best su-30SM version or su-35, or else no deal. Iran says they are tired of inferior weapons that super powers dump on 3rd world nations, and Iran also wants full local maintenance capability for su-30 or else they will not buy jets that will make them always depend on foreign technical support in time of war and embargo.
With all these points you people are raising here, maybe Sudan will end up with downgraded su-35 that will not be able to beat NAF jf-17 block iiii that has AESA radar, but sha, there is no plan for NAF to buy air refueling, the NAF boys said it costs extra $50 million for air refuelling planes and no need to refuel in air against Boko Haram. WTF Fantasies and witchcraft, what's happening here. SU-35 with PESA

It will depend on configuration, but your "NAF boys" should've told you that export models are always scaled down versions unless the recipient nation upgrades it with its own indigenous avionic suits. READ THE REST HERE>>> http://www.africanmilitaryblog.com/2017/03/top-10-most-powerful-warships-in-Africa-2017.html?m=1 Bro you got the weapons systems of both Algeria and SA incorrect in your article, for instance SA and Algeria uses the South African made Denel Umkhonto SAM system and SA uses the 76mm oto almara naval gun and the Denel made CIW systems. None of the SA or algerian ships uses the harpoon due to politics. Anyway nice article. |

SupremeCourt: Enlarged with massive recruitment for Boko Haram war 2014-2017, Nigerian armed forced now have salary bill of about $1.5 billion yearly as at 2018. In 2010-2015 the lower number of personnel had salary bills around $1 billion, but FGN defence budget was about $15 billion. It means $10 billion was available for new weapons and equipment procurement to Nigerian army, navy, air force 2010-2015. Please if you have photos of new weapons we bought for $10 billion kindly improve what you post on this thread, we keep seeing the same old weapons. Where is your $10 billion weapons? This thread needs the photos. Thanks. This means you had the largest weapons procurement budget in Africa. Either you are dreaming or trying to start another thread war, because those figures don't match what we know about your overall budget. The figures you mentioned is more then 50% of your annual Federal expenditure. |

Covert1: Two different things here. Same constitutional upheaval.
Gambia: Election Dispute
Zimbabwe: Brazen military Coup
Jammeh refused to give up power after mediation, Nigeria and ECOWAS invaded and ousted him.
Robert Mugabe apparently has been overthrown and under house arrest. The military is in control under whatever guise even if by a puppet—that is against the constitution which justifies an intervention else a certain Captain or Major elsewhere will have other ideas.
tdayof this is a brazen theft of power at the barrel of the gun in broad daylight. It won't happen in ECOWAS with big brother watching. It seems you have a comprehension problem and seem not to understand the difference between Invasion and Intervention |

Covert1: Nigerians calling me out lol! Listen kid, there are Nigerians and there are Nigerians. So that's not an escape for u neither is calling me Augustine escape. I won't let this pass. Did u hear me? Cowards! That u and ignoramuses here don't know international relations don't mean I'll let it adorn nairaland.
Everything I write is continually validated here day by day only insolent-proud-I-too-know humans here act about it with f.oolery yet go behind to steal points and quote it by other terms here. I have talked on regional powers, what it means and the coercive measures it can bring to bear by various means. So, you are clearly not getting it. Because u're a kid I'll tell you again, now u cancel and remain mediocre as ur retort indicates or sit at the foot of the teacher and learn:
Long story short, you see what happened or is happening in SADC won't happen in ECOWAS, period. Why? Because an Hegemon exists: Nigeria. The states know Nigeria has the military threat dimension which don't necessarily have to be used but just the fact it exists brings Nations into acquiescence of the hegemon. I could draw you a scenario of measures Nigeria could employ in Zimbabwe to determine the outcome it wants and would it act yes it would. Failure to act makes it weaker. That's a regional power. It surreptitiously, covertly, overtly, economically or militarily determines the fate of nations under it's sphere of influence.
AK and indeed others I remember has been drawing for blood in Zimbabwe to show your military might now he's singing a different tune. Next time when a Nigerian talks y'all should just shut up and acknowledge whose your boss. That's the fact.
Here you are babbling nonsense. You think after all the noise you southies make of your capabilities condescending on us at every turn and the opportunity presents itself to prove it and you failed again I'll swallow it hook line and sinker, nah, imma call you out so it's documented. Where's your shiny Gripens? but alas the Zims know you have no combat capability. You can't fight. If you were a threat those Generals would dare not do what they did knowing the consequences. What happened in your backyard won't happen here and everyone knows it but the bias of ur media cousins especially bbc would have us read a different narrative to make SA still appear relevant in power dynamics but would never give Nigeria it's due. No, you are not.
One phone call from a Nigerian General and any officer planning a coup in sub-Saharan Africa will think twice and stand down.
I can't continue to indulge a kid. Oya cancel and get a jolt to your veins. The point has been made. SA military power and regional claim only exists on paper. Covert has been validated again and will be validated again. Augubugu is yet again high on Ozone |

What some forget here is that it is in some SADC countries interest that there is a shakeup in Zim especially SA and Botswana who has barred the brunt of Zim instability. A coup is never an option and should be condemned, but its a necessary evil to stop the Mugabe dynasty extension.
There is only two ways this could end up for Zim and I hope it ends in credible democratic elections without any foreign meddling.
At this point I agree with ANC's stance of non interference and diplomacy, because any military intervention would lead to a regional crisis, with losses no SADC nation can absorb. Zim is not Gambia who accepted regional military intervention.
At best I would say SA who currently holds the SADC chairmanship should send envoys to Zim urgently to asses the situation, but SADC should allow the political processes in Zim to unfold democratically and peacefully. |

SupremeCourt: Anybody asking for Nigerian products can continue pretending he has not seen Gulma drone, ARA MRAP, NNS Andoni, NNS Karaduwa, an many others on the 1,500 pages of this thread. Proforce website alone is enough, if you dont see Nigerian products, maybe you are blind like the beggers on the streets of Kano.
Yes, many South African products are overloaded with American European made components and all the advanced technology work is done by your USA and EU senior partners. Then you delete the names of your foreign partners and call the product 100% made in South Africa. You be robber o!
"Boeing and the Paramount Group, the South Africa-based global defense and aerospace business, have expanded their 2014 agreement to cooperate on an advanced mission system for a variant of the Advanced, High Performance, Reconnaissance, Light Aircraft (AHRLAC). Boeing will develop an integrated mission system for the aircraft enabling ISR and light strike missions for the AHRLAC safety & security, and military variants." — Boeing Media March 8, 2016.
Secretly behind all the hi-tech South African made products are powerful American European companies doing all the hard work. You are truly pathetic and it looks like you totally have no argument. I can turn your very argument around and ask you why the A400M uses SA made fuselage components too, now does it make the A400M a South African product or do we claim it is S African. This is stupid argument from a person like you. |

Zoharariel: May Ogun Lakaaye Oshimale use your blood to water the flower of Apartheid so that - you bloody xenophobic-ingrates can come seeking Nigeria's assistance once again - Omo ale!
Xenophobia: 13 Ways Nigeria Helped South Africa During The Apartheid Period
1.) Nigeria set up the National Committee Against Apartheid (NACAP) in 1960.
2.) The late Sunny Okosun composed a song called “Fire in Soweto” in 1977 to show support for the fight against apartheid
3.) From 1966, Nigeria gave material and financial support to the freedom fighters in South Africa
4.) Then Nigeria’s Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa sent letter to South Africa’s ANC militants on April 4, 1961 showing support for their cause.
5.) Nigeria provided $5 million to the ANC and the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) annually.
6.) In 1976, Nigeria set up the Southern Africa Relief Fund (SAFR) for the purpose of bringing relief materials to the victims of the apartheid
7.) The military administration of General Obasanjo contributed $3.7 million to the fund and Obasanjo personally donated $3,000 to the fund.
8.) All Nigeria’s civil servants and public officers made a 2% donation from their monthly salary to the SAFR.
9.) Nigerian students skipped their lunch to make donations, and by June 1977, the total contribution to the fund had reached $10.5 million. The donations to the SAFR were widely known in Nigeria as the “Mandela tax”
10.) Between 1973 and 1978, Nigeria contributed $39,040 to the UN Educational and Training Programme for South Africa
11.) Nigeria boycotted the 1976 Olympics and Commonwealth games in 1979 as part of our protest against apartheid in South Africa
12.) From 1960 to 1995, Nigeria spent over $61 billion to support the end of apartheid, more than any other country in the world.
13.) Nigeria refused to sell oil to South Africa in protest against the white minority rule. Nigeria lost approximately $41 billion then. $41billion dollars. Remember this was our oil boom moment. As long as we fought apartheid, the money meant nothing. In all your rants I'm still waiting for your assertion of $61b Nigeria gave to SA. Now was Nigeria's contribution more then Angola or Tanzania no, but you never hear them coming here and spew self righteous bigotry. SA gave Nigeria democracy in 2000 before then you all were slaves to your elite, so I suggest you tone down your ego and focus on what will make Nigeria grate my boy. |

And instead of the lazy, thieving bastards directing their anger & frustration towards the whites who are still ruling them, they are taking it out on foreigners through xenophobia - forgetting how Nigeria helped their pitiful-asses in breaking the back of Apartheid by spending over $61Billion from 1960 - 1995 just to support the end of Apartheid - more than any other Country in the World.
If not for Nigeria, South Afrika would have been renamed “The United States of Israel” with all their lazy, thieving blacks turned into trained animals for diverse entertainment circus sideshows. This is the very shiiiiit talk that are the root causes of SA/Nigeria hate on this site.
