Goel:

Mauritius is a special case, it's a small island country with no say.

Small island countries are dependent upon geopolitics for their situation and not on their own. They can extreme poor like Haiti or extreme rich like Singapore.

Your comparisons are horribly factually incorrect in any context be it comparison between differences in Nig and IND vs SA and US or direct facts.

1. Gap between India and US of income is over 25 times. Levels of SA and Nigeria in development is similar and both are far far behind US or India.

2. SA is far from being a developed country. Except per capita income and few cities (because of white population), SA is abysmally behind India in all development indicators, innovation index, IHDI and so forth. And the way India is growing and SA economy is collapsing, India will thrice as rich as SA by end of this decade.

3. SA is a not a diverisfied economy. US and India are highly diversified industrial economies. Reference their industrial sectors, innovation index, USPTO rankings and economic complexity index.

4. Economic Inequality: SA (Gini 63.0) has most Inequality, much more than India (Gini 35.7) and US (Gini 39.4).

5. Private sector: India's private sector in a month produces more than what is SA's GDP. US is in a different league. India is world's largest pool of startups with a 100 unicorns (start ups crossing 1 billion dollars revenue) and world's third largest FDI receipent. SA's private sector here is not even nut sized.

5. Wokeness: India is the only stable democracy of world with no civil wars, military rule, same sex rights and again, woke movement too has much longer.

6. Right to bear arms: That's a sign of lawlessness if SA takes pride in it.

I do not have to talk about space, scientific research, nuclear & aviation.
Second one

1. Developing economy: Nigeria is a Developing economy, India is a newly industrialized country.

2. Strong Diaspora: Indian Diaspora is not comparable to Nigerian Diaspora. I will remain silent on what Indian Diaspora does in other countries vs what Nigerian Diaspora does or I will look like racist.

3. Every democracy has Convoluted politics. Difference is Nigerian politics has brought civil wars and military rules. Indian politics most long lasting democracy in developing world with only 6 prime ministers ruling country for most history, a western style industrial system, and a system which ranks in line with best democracies in world.

4. Religious and Tribal tension: I won't repeat again. In India, communities do not clash daily. What happens daily in Nigeria would be called civil war in India. Just compare rankings of two countries in fragile stated index.

5. Worship of elite: Utter bullshit coming from you.

There is a no similarity and every country is specific on its own. China, India are Southeast Asian countries and highly industrialized developing countries at levels of developed world and will replace them soon. You cannot compare those to Africa where basic first industrial revolution has not properly started.

Nigeria and South Africa share no similarity with them just because a disgruntled BBC employee loves to yell at India.
1. ridiculous statement, SA is far ahead in all development indexes.

2. Excluding small island nations SA is the most developed African nation, it's also considered a NIC, Also SA is ahead of India wrt to Global innovation index, above India in terms of Quality of infrastructure index, above in HDI, above in LPI...should I go on?

3.Did you do any research at all before typing this? SA is not that far behind India in terms of diversification and ranks 42nd in the world

4. not disputed

5. What?

6. In SA you can own a gun if you get a license, right to bear arms isn't in the constitution

In the Israel and Iran Fiasco. You've got to appreciate the display of interoperability between Israeli,US &UK militaries from the Navy ,ground to air assets.
They almost operate seamlessly together.
Israel also uses the same link16 data link that nato does, hence why the interoperability to this extent is possible.

There's no evidence that the Turbofan will perform consistently over an extended period flying from unpaved surfaces.

All Airplanes require routine maintenance after flight, whether Turbofan or Turboprop.

You showed 1 picture of the C-130 flying from an unpaved surface, provide us with the raw numbers of flights from paved and unpaved surfaces.

A400M is a Strategic airlifter, this isn't even up for debate.

- Turboprops require less maintenance : https://www.naa.edu/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-turboprop-engines/

- Why?? Why is this even a relevant questions?

- Kabe1 know more about the A400m than Airbus themselves??

Wrong move sir.

Even me as a Nigerian, I really love how South Africa maintain a buoyant foreign policy.

In a world of global interconnectedness, it would be a mistake to live in a cocoon.

By the way, I don't think the Americans would push South Africa into a sanction...that would only solidify the Messiah claims of the BRICS nations
Why the laughing emoji? secondly we've lost soldiers in the DRC before it's not something new to lose soldiers in conflict areas.

And yes I've said we should've left the DRC once the UN stopped funding Rooivalk deployments

From the video above, you can see the C390 takeoff from dirt runways without issues.

Besides how many times have you seen South African C-130s takeoff from dirt runways?

Even in the raging Russia -Ukraine war, we haven't seen heavy transport planes takeoff from dirt runways.
- I never said it can't take off from dirt runways however in the long run turbofans will need more maintenance than Turboprops due to dust exposure, this is a well known fact.

- During the border war quiet a lot actually

- What's the infrastructure like....Africa vs Ukraine? also the A400m is quite small compared to the likes of the C17, An-124, Y20 ect ect

Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 7:27am On Feb 17
kabe1:

No evidence the A400M performs better than the KC-390 in unprepared surface. The C-390 millennium performance on dirt tracks is excellent, there are free resources online that prove this.

The A400M costs nearly 4 times more to operate and maintain.

That's not a tactical airlifter.

Overall if your plan is to fly over Nigeria and west Africa at most, you have no business with the A400M. It's a very good aircraft but limitations are significant if you don't have a huge pursue.
- Shorter take off and landing distance is evidence, as is turboprop vs turbofan....it's no secret that turbofans don't like dust.

- Source?? they are nearly 3 times the unit price but what are the maintenance figures? where did you get that it costs 4 times more to operate?

- It is exactly what I said it is. It certainly is a tactical airlift which can carry strategic loads.

What are the limitations except for the price?
Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by jl115: 10:19pm On Feb 16
kabe1:

Proof it?
For 1 Turboprop vs Turbofan.........Turboprop will always be better for landing on unprepared runways where dust is a factor. Turboprops are also easier to fix in remote places.

Secondly the A400M has much shorter take off and landing distances as well

All in all the A400M was designed specifically as a tactical airlift that could carry strategic loads.

overall it's a better aircraft than the c390(as a strategic and tactical airlift), however it costs nearly 3 times more. That said I'm a fan of the C390, and for a turbofan it does have very good tactical airlift capabilities and certainly a good replacement for the C130, the cost also makes it attractive to countries like SA and Nigeria

......my statement is primarily in a Nigerian context. The C-390 is a tactical airlift aircraft while the A400M is a strategic airlift aircraft.

In a Nigerian context the C-390 is a much better fit when all parameters are considered.

The cost benefit is also much better.
actually the A400M has better tactical airlift capability than the C390

The international system is so messed up.
My opinion has always been to stay neutral in the geopolitical game, regardless if the intentions were good, we should've kept our noses out of it and focused solely on ourselves and fixing our problems, anyone with half a brain cell could've seen this coming hence well done ANC, you've pressured Israel and possibly helped the Palestinians to an extent, but to the expense(possibly) of your own people.

1. First sir, Could it be that White minorities are busy majoring in Agriculture simply because they already have the land ??

Cause and effect chief.

2. Secondly sir, is there issue of poverty, crime, unemployment as you have stated, yes. But also there's issue of land redistribution. That's a fact.

Apples 🍎 and Oranges 🍊 ... they're not mutually exclusive.

3. The White MPs I watched that day actually they actually agree with EFF that land should be redistributed...their point of discord however is that there should be compensation of sort to the White land owners to which the EFF disagreed.

For this issue to have degenerated into such level of a raucous session in your National Parliament, I believe it is an extant National Question in your country.

So your frantic attempt to delude me here won't be successful sir.

By the way, I'm not saying this to diss South Africa. Every country have its own National Question.

For example, why would Nigeria be talking about insecurity in Niger republic when we have such humongous level of insecurity back home.

I hope you get my line of thought sir. Cheers.
1. Nope since the ratio of Afrikaners studying Agriculture is still much higher than even the % of White owned farm land compared to black owned farm land, in fact the most that study Agriculture are not land owners themselves and neither are there families, there are only 30000 commercial farmers(White and Black) in SA

2. Yes... it's an issue for less than 2% of the population

3. I never said I was against land redistribution I'm against redistribution without compensation , in fact the Government has settled over 80 000 land claims since 94....Did you know that most of these claimants chose financial compensation instead of the actual land? this further proves point nr2

4. My not attempting delude anyone, I'm simply pointing to the facts

You're right sir. Politicians have a way of bloating things out.

However, by your own admission here now sir, White minorities in SA have 53% of the arable lands...while the Black majorities who actually own the land before the White settlers arrive have 47% or less. This is still an injustice sir wink

In Nigeria we say: " Remove the log in your eyes before talking about the log in another person's eyes"... If South Africa is yet to fight its own land grabbing injustice...what the fvck are y'all doing here fighting for Palestine ?? grin
The worst thing anyone can do is look at these figures at face value without understanding the context behind them....like for example Afrikaners are more inclined to pursue a career in commercial agriculture than any other ethnic group and by some distance, this is proven by the amount of Afrikaners studying agriculture vs other ethnic groups, thus if their are more commercial white farmers vs black farmers than obviously they will own more land.

secondly land is not an issue for South Africans, all it is, is a political scape goat, several polls were run across the last decade and all of them show that less than 2% of South Africans actually feel that land is a pressing issue. Jobs, Crime, Poverty, Infrastructure, Education ect ect all ranked much higher

That's according to Julius Malema one of your MP... But you here unknown Nairaland monicker knows better ? grin

Even one of the White MPs was threatening civil war when EFF was talking about land redistribution.
Malema is a politician, not a land demographics expert and that assertion is very wrong since the actual % of total land owned by Whites in South Africa is only 22% and just over 53% of Agricultural land according to AgriSA

Correction:
1) white South Africans are not British immigrants, and they did not allow anybody any rights; black South Africans, and a few white South Africans, fought for equal rights;
2) black South Africans did not "let" white South Africans stay as some favour; the oldest liberation movement in Africa has always said, "South Africa belongs to all who live in it, black and white".
3) black Saffers who had their land forcibly taken could go through the restitution process and their claims could be settled through the govt buying back their land from current owners and giving it back. A lot of people opted for cash.

People in other parts of Africa, because of their recent history of colonization, forget that white South Africans have been here since 1652, and their position is exactly the same as other Europeans who went to settle in the US, Canada, South America, Australia.
Seconded!

1) Exactly my point, a simple phrase being twisted by opponents into something threatening; and
2) I've told you what decent level-headed people mean with reference to Palestine. What is so difficult to grasp about one democratic state with equal rights for all? Whether one calls it Israel/Palestine or whatever, the historic geographical area of Palestine -without special status for ethno-religious considerations.

Now, there's an argument to be had whether that ideal is likely, with the preponderance of zealots and extremists on both sides. But that's not the argument you're offering, seemingly only stuck on the smears and twisting of phrases from one side.

I can grasp it, and that was never something I was against so don't shift the goal posts, my point is this: why not say "From the river to the sea, Israel will be free" since there is no country called Palestine with the borders you are referring to? Do you not see how this can be threatening to the average Israelite?

Also what is wrong with having self governing Palestinian states and self Governing Jewish states?

You can disagree all you want, doesn't change the fact of what the Palestinians and those of us in solidarity with their Struggle, understand what we mean by that slogan.
Some of us still remember how in SA, "One man, one vote", was falsely twisted by the Apartheid regime and its supporters, as a call for the eradication of white South Africans and the imposition of a racial dictatorship.
Occupiers everywhere, have always sought to demonise the resistance of the occupied.
What you don't get is that I'm completely objective towards the Israel/Palestine situation.....so that "fact" isn't really a fact, its a view point from someone who has a biased view of the situation.

"One man. one vote" is a very simple phrase that most normal humans can understand as a call for democracy in said country, When you say "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" what exactly happens to Israel?? does it cease to exist? are you changing its name?
