This year (Feb), I got a job with my uncle/sponsor Environmental company(private) doing All Lagos state schools sanitation, I have the employment letter but I'm worried about the bank statement of a thing. Is it necessary to include my bank statement? Or I should use sponsors own alone..

Sponsor is my Uncle, we share the same surname, and he's the CEO of the company and a TOP police officer,. Most of the transactions on my bank statement is just between me and him(personal money stuff). Make una help me on what to do abeg.

I just completed the whole documentation for two of them and now under review, I which to get a supervisor for the third application. Although the graudate coordibator said they might provide me with a supervisor but advise it will be advisable to contact some in advance.....

I've been contacting them for over a month now, called several times but they are always not available and the ones that reply are either on medical leave or another type of leave or processing their retirement. I dunno what I'm supposed to do, I'm just getting tired of this by the day.

I actually chose M.Eng to save myself the stress of looking for a supervisor who will hardly respond to your email. For the first application(UofM) I did, perhaps I was naive not to value the importance of a good SOP. But for the second(UofR), I'm sure it was excellent at least from the views of my former colleagues now in top US schools. The only aspect I may not be too sure of is the academic references. Of my two referees, one is a Dr. while the other is doing his PhD. Could that be an issue as opposed to using Profs? I no get Professor friends oh.

That's a good rate compared to other banks like GTB and stanbic..Divide 22,000/134=N164 per CAD..I did a transaction with stanbic and I was charged N173 per CAD. You are lucky man!

And do just what you have said here..Even with scholarship grant, it is imperative to show that you can support your self because at some stage in the program the grant might not be forth coming depending on situation unforseen. @JLakeside Pray for this Prof and dot miss this opportunity...

Wow, this professor is a very nice person. That he/she took the time to read your SOP and nicely offer suggestions on how to improve it is a sign that he/she would likely be a very patient and kind advisor to work with.

Also, based on my reading of the email, the professor is still interested in funding you but doesn't want to over-promise and under-deliver (this is very normal in North American culture). He/she wants you to understand that you need to have your own funds for living expenses so that you can get a visa. But if you read the email closely, the professor is implicitly saying he/she would do his/her best to pay you a stipend should his/her grant application be successful.

I would recommend you make the recommended changes to the SOP and apply sharp sharp. Also, do respond to the professor thanking him/her for the email, and reiterating your interest in working with him/her. Do tell him/her that you will be able to show proof of funds to the embassy but that obtaining funding from him/her (or the department) would go a long way in enabling you to attend and contribute maximally to their program. Gbam!

But also try to get funding from another school in case this one doesn't pan out. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
