Which youth? with the kinds of posts I read from most Nigerian youth on nairaland, it is evident that the youth stands nowhere and no chance. Let them continue to book spaces and hurl insults and abuses on nairaland.

The youth may have a shot at being involved in nigerian politics when they stop bothering themselves about the massive clivage of Halima Abubakar and Tonto Dike's g-strings.
They have to start with making inteligent statements, not 'GEJ my hero, Fayose my role model' kind of slogan that bothers on stupidity and insanity.

Fashola ambidexterity quotient has been tested overtime and he had been found to excel in both efficiency and innovation thus making him stand out anytime. Nigerians are gradually getting to dat point where we all toe a particular line of thought for overall good of d nation as u can see with d 100% choice of Fash not all these tribal, religious n party sentiment dat divide us. Politics › Re: Buhari Foundation Urges Support For Saraki by jlinkd78(m): 6:21pm On May 02, 2015
ozoigbondu:
Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation, a group, on Saturday urged Senators-elect to elect Sen. Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate for the 8th National Assembly.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Coordinator of the North Central Zone of the association, Mr Bode Towoju, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
NAN reports that the next National Assembly will be inaugurated on June 4.
The statement said Saraki had the necessary skills and intellectual capacity to pilot the affairs of both the Senate and the National Assembly.
According to the statement, Saraki will help to stabilise the parliament for efficient and effective performance.
It said that Saraki’s leadership was needed at this critical time when the country was yearning for true independence of the legislature.
“We are soliciting the cooperation of all Senators-elect and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure the emergence of the former Kwara State Governor as the President of the Senate.
“Saraki will not be a rubber stamp President of the Senate where no robust debate will be allowed.
“Saraki has got all the nationalistic qualities and cognate experience to be trusted with the position,’’ it said.
It said that the country also needed a President of the Senate that would stabilise the country without undue confrontation with the President.
On the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in the March 28, presidential election, the group called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their political leanings, to support him to move the country forward.
The statement urged the President-elect to brace up for the challenges of governance, adding that the citizenry reposed much confidence in his ability to deliver true dividends of democracy.
It said the people had yearned for quality political leadership to ensure transparency and good governance.
“Nigerians have found those qualities in Buhari and therefore, the President-elect must not disappoint the people,’’ the statement said.

Its unfortunate dat some people actually hail d General for this very wrong move targetted at Freedom of the Press and by extension Freedom of Information. In as much as we love Buhari as we all hope he will take us away from corruption n restore security; it will be uncharitable to some of us dat supported Buhari cos of this reason now realising some Nigerians are actually becoming fanatical by not seeing anything bad d incoming govt does or set to do when in power. I was expecting dat Buhari wud v tried to shame his critics who believed he was against press freedom by even improving on GEJ record in this regard. The hallmark of a statesman is not playing to d gallery but in taking steps dat posterity will judge him fairly. If u know how much deflated OBJ ego has been b/c of GEJ stance in dat historic phone call to Buhari after being accused of Gbagbo-like tendency and d man doing d exact opposite of Gbagbo u ll understand d path I expect GMB to be toeing. If d FOI we got under GEJ is being threatened this way even when GMB is yet to be sworn in, one wonders what become of d press n social media freedom when fully in charge. GMB cannot be promising us to encourage d enactmnt of Whistle Blowers Act (which is in itself an improvemnt on d FOI as it will put everything done by govt under censor) when he is not comfortable with a particular section of d press or expect all media outfit to like him. Mr Dokpesi in d build up to d 2015 electios officially resigned his position of Chairmanship of Daar Communications ltd (oprrators of Ait) and hence legally you can not tie Ait broadcast to dat of Dokpesi interst in GEJ re-election bid no matter how it appears. If u feel Ait infringd on ur fundamental human right , sue them and not all these hullabalo of 'security n family interest' as if d Ait team were gun wielding touts or dia is a security report against Ait. The question we should v been asking ourselves were whether those documentary aired by Ait were the truth and nobody had said Buhari didnt commit those sins in d past but prefer to euphemise them with 'hate campaign' as if all must love GMB or better still as if many us never hated GEJ. A whistle blower is one who exposes misconduct, alleged dishonest or illegal activity (e.g corruption) in an organisation to either d public or govt or to d organisation. Mark d word 'alleged' which means not yet proven, just a mere suspicion could even be reported and then d appropriate authorities ll investigate. This is what d APC incoming govt promised us and methink barring Ait from d event is to say d least parallel to our expectations. The time for smear campaigns which both d apc n pdp are equally 'yoked' are over and this shd be time for serious business.Truth is d more actions like keep coming up, the world is already comparing and GEJ peaceful temperament soaring higher. Just wont be surprised Nairaland is banned or barred from reporting issues one day.

PassingShot:
Let me try to write a few lines about barcanista assuming that he gets a political appointment someday.

Barcanista, Member ABC Inauguration Committee

This is a man who can best be described as the worst political prostitute known to man in the history of Nigerian politics. He is known for jumping from one party to another. In a space of two and a half years, he has switched party twice. He was first a member of PDP and he defended the party with all his strength against the progressives of this forum.

When he "saw reasons" to know that the GEJ-led PDP was a total failure and the party was doomed such that Nigeria can only get grounded the way it was being run by PDP, barcanista not only defected to APC, he took PDP to the cleaners exposing a lot of atrocities of the party. Such was his critism of GEJ and his praise singing of APC's candidate that some who were previously considered die hard supporters of PDP equally defected to APC.

However, a drama occurred few weeks to the presidential election that revealed this political prostitute of our time as a man lacking in principle, credibility and integrity. Confirmed reports have it that he sought for "protection" from APC for his efforts, stating that he may have no choice than to quit supporting the party if his request was not met.

After few weeks of APC's failure to meet his demand, to the bewilderment of forum members, this unprincipled man announced his defection back to the party he had destroyed with his ferocious attacks. Expectedly not many were unsurprised by this show of shame and investigations were conducted by concerned members of APC which revealed that he got a promise of a political appointment should PDP win the election.

Few weeks after his defection back to PDP, his political career was dealt a crushing blow when the opposition candidate won the presidential election conducted on March 28, 2015.

As a result, Barcanista vowed privately and openly to criticize and attack every move of the People's General however such move appears. Thus he has since created threads after threads to do as he promised even though the president-elect has not assumed the mantle of leadership.

Going by the foregoing, the man Barcanista is not fit to be considered for any future political appointment be it ceremonial or otherwise.

Yours truly,
PassingShot.
If he is actually such a political prostitute as u paint him, he should v bin thinking of defecting back to APC once GMB won but to still criticize some obnoxious moves of d incoming govt with facts rather makes him a man of integrity. Permit me to state dat d best we all owe ourselves in this forum is to dig out facts and offer pragmatic solutions on issues hoping dat d govt will come across them AND never this cult-like followership of APC or PDP or even tribal sentiments. I stand on d side of any contributor dat toes this path of honour of citizen journalism.

At a joint briefing by the co-chairmen in the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, Anyim, said the briefing was to present the programme of the 2015 Presidential inauguration to the public.

He also told State House correspondents that the committee was meeting for the second time.
He said: “There are two parallel transition committee and inauguration committee. Two parallel transition committees work independent of each other but to interface at a point.”

“Inauguration committee is structured to be joint committee of the present administration and incoming administration and is chaired by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim for the present administration and former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva for the incoming administration.” "

It is rather a pathetic situation that must be as a matter of urgency jettison by every reasonable supporter of apc or buhari or both as the case may be.

Take it or leave it buhari and apc will come under the radar and they would sweat like every other ruler and ruling party. They would be subject to criticisms and abuse. So the earlier we all understand that the better.

Thank God dat d list headed by Timipriye Silva is not d much expected Transition Committee cos I wud v been disappointed. Now I guess Transition and Inauguration committees have two diff terms of reference. While Jonathan have his vice Sambo heading d Transition committee D SSG Anyim heads d inauguration committe alongside Timipriye Silva (from GMB). The job of d inauguration planning committee can be likened to an organising committee of a big upcoming event hence Sylva corruption case might not be much an issue but a compensation to keep him relevant politically after losing d chairmanship position to Oyegun whereas it is d Transition committee dat will comprise of serious minded people that will thoroughly peruse d handover notes of diff Ministries, Department and Agencies, ask serious questions and possibly give a direction of d likely people dat will be appointed by d incoming govt to drive governance. But GMB not assembling his Transition committee members 10days after GEJ released his might not be a good sign of things to come cos its either he is a slow poke or he is being very thorough with his final selection. Nobody said an opposition cant head d House just dat it will be difficult for an opposition to win majority of votes cast if all d members vote as expected along party lines . In d case of Tambuwal, the arguement against Tambuwal had to do with d constitutional position in section 68 (1) (g) dat when u defect from one party to another (esp when dia is no division in d party) u shall vacate ur seat as a mbr of d house as it is d party dat sponsors candidates not just d individual . Methink d Ekiti lawmakers trying to impeach Fayose lost it once they were roundly beaten at dia re-election bid and then Fayose victory at d Supreme Court. Hate him or like him there is no way d lawmakers will succeed on this adventure. What d lawmakers are trying to do is to subvert d collective will of d people and with d victory of Fayose during his re-election last year in all d l.g.a in d state, delivering his state to pdp during d March 28 and April 11 and with a Supreme court ruling in his favour; its only right dat sane Ekiti elders should advise d lawmakers to drop forthwith this plan which is trying to ridicule Ekiti. The moment they were not able to achieve this between March 28 once Buhari emerged winner and April 11 when another set of lawmakers were equally elected was when I knew Fayose can go and sleep with eyes closed. Honestly Fayose must be an astute politician to have his pdp lawmaker aspirants win majority of their constituencies after d March 28 despite d very big Buhari factor across d country which even affected my mum voting choice down here in Amankwo Ward in Orsu l.g.a Imo state. It is either Fayose is truly loved by d State or his rigging manual defies all hacking techniques. If d lawmakers were smarter they would have sealed up a deal with Fayose dat would v seen some of them returned.
