The 39 migrants who died after being locked in a freezing container en-route to the UK left 'bloody handprints' on the inside of the doors and walls of the 'coffin' where their bodies were found, it was revealed last night.


It is grim evidence of the victims' desperate final moments while locked inside the container that was loaded onto a ferry in Zeebrugge in Belgium in a people smuggling operation, before the shocking discovery at an Essex port on Wednesday.

Sources have now claimed that the migrants, six of whom were thought to have been Vietnamese, were naked or had minimal clothing when they were found in the container on Wednesday in Purfleet, Essex.

It is also believed that the Vietnamese migrants are all from the Can Loc district in northern Vietnam and had been 'banging on the doors' for help and had 'foam coming from their mouths' when found.

The latest revelation comes as a 48-year-old man from Northern Ireland was arrested at Stansted Airport on suspicion of conspiracy to traffic people and suspicion of manslaughter.

Vietnamese woman Pham Thi Tra My sent her mother a series of harrowing messages telling her she 'loved her' and was 'dying because she couldn't breathe.'

Her family claim the 26-year-old paid people smugglers £30,000 to travel to the UK via China 'in search of a better life.'

Sources have now claimed that bloodied hand marks were found inside.
Since Wednesday four people have been arrested in connection with the death of the 39 migrants. Police had initially believed they had come from China
Pham's family are believed to be one of ten that have come forward saying that they feared their relatives were missing after the discovery in Essex.

A human rights worker in Vietnam, who was spoken with her family, has revealed that she made the perilous journey because her family was in debt and she was desperately trying to help them.

'She had just returned from Japan where she was working to try and pay off the debt. And that was not enough and so she looked for a better future,' she told the BBC.

Apache advanced multi-role combat helicopters arrived in Germany as part of the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade nine-month rotation in support of Atlantic Resolve.

A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter is capable to take out 16 enemy’s tanks or other armored vehicles during one combat sortie. Designed to get into trouble fast and put it down even faster, the AH-64 Apache comes bristling with ordnance, from an M230 chain gun firing 30mm rounds to Hellfire missiles and rockets.

With the Apache helicopters, pilots able to get low in the trees to reduce radar cross-section from ground-based radar systems. Hovering low allows to mask ourselves against ground observation and provides better survivability should be engaged.

The ability to get low also enables the Apaches to effectively support ground troops.

As to Atlantic Resolve, this exercise provides rotational units with the ability to build readiness, increase interoperability and enhances the bond between ally and partner militaries through multinational training events.

Atlantic Resolve is a demonstration of continued U.S. commitment to collective European security through a series of actions designed to reassure NATO allies and other European partners of America’s dedication to enduring peace and stability throughout Europe.

General Yakubu Gowon wants Nigerian youths to gain from his experience. The former military head of state seems ready to open up on some issues he witnessed and was part of in the past. The retired military general will be addressing Nigerian youths sometime in February 2020. Nigeria's former military head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, has promised to give insights into some of the activities that led to the Nigeria civil war. Gowon made the pledge while receiving an award from a coalition of civil society youth groups. The groups had awarded Gowon the honour as the Global Peace Initiatives lifetime patron. The groups also asked the former military president to take out time for his busy schedule to address the issues that prompted the war under a programme to be called: 'A Day with Gowon.' Speaking on behalf of the groups, the executive director Global Peace Initiatives Nigeria, Ambassador Badamasi Sadiq Ibrahim informed General Gowon that the younger generation would love to hear from him. He also stated that it would be an honour for the youths to hear what prompted Gowon's genuine commitment to a peaceful and united Nigeria, stressing that it is a legacy worthy of emulation especially to young Nigerians. Reacting to the request, Gowon promised to be available in February 2020 for the event due to his other engagements before then.
