Drone17: Partey missed the controling influence of Zinchenko is that midfield. Partey drifting to the left caused him a lot of troubles with accurate passes and control.
I think the first aim for Arteta was to ensure we didn't lose. Hence the like for like subs, it was close to the end that he threw in more attackers.
Nevertheless, there is need for a change of tactics. We saw how the team took another gear when Trossard covered for Nketiah in the no 9 role. We need a change of tactics that's sure. The lack of hunger and pressure really got the team today. I mean, it really showed in today's game after the first goal we conceded. We started panicking, making mistakes and were to careful even to a fault. We need to get that hunger back and play our game focusing on only us. I think that's just the only thing that needed to be changed. The team that dominated West Ham and scored the first two goals was different from the team that conceded that first goal |

Drone17: The bolded is the problem. Assuming we won our last two then it would make sense even if the point difference remains the same. But looking at the last two, the confidence is low.
Our boys should really ask themselves if they actually want to be champions or they want to just play, like dey play. It's somehow understandable that we drew Anfield (even though it's painful) but prior to today's match, the aim was to win at least all our matches and draw Man city. Drawing today still didn't change that sha. We just need to!! |

mostob: I don't know what it will take but we need Saliba back. Holding na useless defender. Just budeying the ball anyhow. Trossard in CF will never work when we're in need of a goal. About that Partey mistake, Tierney was partly at fault. Lol... I no wan talk the bolded cos if I too talk e go be like say I dey pick on am while ignoring his other defensive attributes he brings but Heaven knows how this singular act makes us lose possession and why it's part of the reasons why we can't control the game even under pressure. Our buildup from the back have been key for us this season but it's been less and less since Saliba injury. Trossard in CF would work. Infact, we were creating chances and half chances then he removed Odegaard. Since after the equaliser till Trossard entry, I didn't remember any chance we did create But I don't know why Tierney was at fault tho |

Person wey fall my hands pass na Partey. Granted, you made a mistake which resulted in a goal. Everyone makes mistakes which results in goals so it's no big deal. But the big deal is after the mistake. Partey was just playing nonsense hence our midfield control was diminishing. I no come know weda it rubbed off on Xhaka and that one started his own. Also, we weren't hungry enough even while we conceded the equaliser. Trossard and Jorginho brought more verve into our attack and control. As for Viera... Please can they just be given ESR the minutes instead of Viera. And why fgs must we be doing like for like subs (Jesus for Trossard)? Can't this two work together ni?? |

I remember early this season when Tim.bros brought a picture showing the teams that creates chances and big chances created for the past 5 seasons(or so) and surprisingly Chelsea name was there(even above arsenal). He brought it up to squash the narratives that Chelsea hardly creates chances the way some were brandishing it here I also remember vividly when a poll was carried out during preseason that they should rank each of the top 6's teams front 3 and most people are including Chelsea front 3 among the top 4. I just laughed inwardly! I remember my post and I'll always say it (as I said it then while rating Chelsea's front 3 as the least among the top6) " As long as Havertz is in Chelsea forward line, I'll never take Chelsea attack serious " Now, while I don't want to make this an individual stuff cos this is more than Havertz matter but unless Chelsea decides to look into their attack(their frontline), they'll keep on blaming Jorginho (,now gone) and Kepa and Rudiger, the famous akpola(now gone), and this and that, the main issue will keep on deflecting It was so bad that the I fear James ability to score and create chances than any of Chelsea's attackers. Since midfield wey don turn expressway reason why Chelsea dey receive 51shots in the last two matches and no Jorginho to blame, let's welcome our new culprit.... Kepa!!! Meanwhile... Felix should be getting ready cos if dem bench Kepa and problem still persists. Na him dem go pass the baton too |

Lol... The thing with life is that when something is being spoke on and hammered consistently (esp with pictures, articles and, journals) people will surely take notice. That's why promotions and advertisement(For positives) are always welcome. But if you want to advertise/promote someone's negative, what's that called?? When Jorginho was here, he was the chief culprits to every goals conceded, shots conceded or every chance(s) not created. Once a goal is conceded, they'll dissect how the chance started from midfield, how he's a weakling, how he's this and that. And every matchday, it'll be emphasized on that people will start seeing Jorginho as the ONLY problem dragging Chelsea back. That's why once Chelsea doesn't score, you'll see comments on how Jorginho is the one limiting Chelsea's attack and even Chelsea concedes, you'll see comments on how it's Jorginho faults. It was so strong that some felt that once Jorg is sold and a good DLP is bought (in this case Enzo), Chelsea will automatically stroll to Top4 because not only will Chelsea be creating and scoring chances but the defensive aspect will be covered. Now Jorg is gone(The perceived fundamental problem), yet situation still abound. Now the new culprit and scapegoat Kepa?? Wahala no dey finish sha |

toluxe0075: Martinelli needs to be flogged. This was supposed to be a one touch pass just like the pass Trossard gave him. Martinelli choose to keep running with ball, and when he decides to pass, he over hit it.
How I wish Trossard or Odegaard was in his position. He should have used outside his foot(nasa) or a first time pass to just give that ball to Saka. If only It was Martinelli that gave Trossard the one touch pass so that Trossard will give Saka. But then, we all know the probability of Martinelli doing that layoff In Trossard position na another wahala |

daveP: Newcastle have an Anfield kinda home atmosphere o. But we can pull a surprise there of Arteta works on his foolishness and his defending structure. Arteta should realize it's not proper to always have possession and rather play to soak pressure at certain moments of the game. It helps frustrate opponents when the goals aren't coming. Plus we already are getting close to hacking the wengerball counter attack style. Almost. Lol... Even though they have but I think our quality will scale through. As long as we don't have any major injuries to our first team players, then I'm confident. As for the bolded, Arteta learnt the game from Pep. They always believe to dominate games no matter the ground. Hopefully, he'll be able to adjust his in-game management in case things don't go to plan |

Roland17: You and Kokane make fair points about Zinny playing to tactics, difference is he did not play to instructions which was the discipline aspect and that was why Arteta pulled him out. I thought our fullbacks were poor today. White was sticking too tight and getting beat and that was how the first goal happened, even though iamoyindamola makes a case against Saka, which is also a fair point.
If you go back to the 2nd goal, watch the sidelines and you will see Tierney was ready to come in before the goal happened and that was because Arteta had had enough of Zinny failing to be discipline. Zinny had no business being where Gabu or Partey should be when that first goal occurred.
Also, go back and rewatch the game if you can, you will see Gabu several times screaming at Zinny about being by himself. Arteta knew there was trouble and that was why he did not even bother about Xhaka because he knew where we were leaking from and tried to address it. Xhaka should have been helping that left side but he decided to be unfortunate today. This proves my thoughts that while he was playing to tactics, he wasn’t being disciplined today.
Our tactics was different from Liverpool defensively. Arteta was exceptional in the first with how he used Jesus/ Martinelli. The switch in play between both players confused Konate a lot who had a better 2nd half after he figured out what was going on. Arteta was using Jesus to drag Konate high which meant Martinelli had good space in front of Jesus or around the center. Hmmmm.... You made valid and fair points. I'll try and rewatch the match again at my spare time to see all what you said |

mostob: You don't get. We were defending, Arteta left Jesus and Martinelli up top...What do you expect Holding to do? BTW, this is about Zinny not Holding. Despite his limitations, Holding did his job. Just accept that Zinny fumbled. I accepted Zinny should be subbed especially since we're parking the bus. He had no business being on the pitch entering the 65min when the pressure was very high. At the instant, the pressure was very very much. My point is this... What made the pressure to be much.? What made only Martinelli and GJ to be up top only them? Have we ever been on that situation this season in any ground for most part of the minutes? Once we answer that questions, we'll know the reason why a whole arsenal this season have to send only Jesus and Martinelli to be playing up top all by themselves and why a whole Partey and Xhaka was playing CBs |

Fernandinho replacement Kavin Philips has not been good enough this season. Arsenal only have 8 games to play this season. I believe if they insist on a treble it might take a toll on them because playing UCL and FA Cup chasing an Arsenal will not be easy. Previous seasons they usually just win the PL and the Carabao Cup drop out of UCL and FA. If they insist on a treble it will take a toll on them because whether we like it or not the league will end on May 28, so the 2 outstandings they would have and a semi final of two legs. They would have to squeeze out 11 fixtures in one month. That's an average of 3-4 games in a week. Well, make we dey see sha |
