The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (GMD), Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, has fired more top employees of the corporation including the heads of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) and the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), THEWILL can exclusively report.

Also retired is the head of the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC).

Sources familiar with the development who asked to remain anonymous because they are not authorized to speak on the action, told THEWILL that at least thirty top personnel at the NNPC and various subsidiaries were retired.

THEWILL also gathered that at least 50 top personnel at the NNPC and its subsidiaries were also either promoted or redeployed, while new appointees were also hired from the private sector.

“This is the shake up the world has been expecting,” one source said. “GM Commercial, GM NNPC Retail, GM Sales and Marketing NNPC Retail, GM Operations NNPC, were also retired… all gone for good,” the source added.

Some of the new replacements are Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue – MD PPMC; Inuwa Ibrahim Waya – MD Hyson; Mr. Babatunde Bakare – MD, NGC; Abubakar Mai-Bornu – MD, NPDC; Abdulkadir Saidu – MD, Duke Oil; Babatunde Victor Adeniran – GED C&I; Chidi Momah – GGM, Company Secretary and Legal Advisor and Dafe Sejebor – GGM NAPIMS.

Other appointments according to our sources are: Dr. Maikanti Baru – GED, E&P; Isiaka Abdulrazak – GED Finance & Services; Denis Ajulu – GED, Refining & Technology; Chinedu Nzeribe – MD, WRPC; Yusuf Matashi – GGM, LNG; Mr. Modupe Bammeke – MD, NNPC Properties; Ladi Fagbola – MD, NNPC Retail;  Roland Ewubare, MD, IDSL; Ahmed Sambo GGM, NNPC Oilfield Services; Zubair Aliyu – GGM, NNPC Capital; Godwin Okonkwo – GGM, Finance; Dalhatu Makama – GGM, Shipping; and Samuel Ndukwe – GGM, Power.

The NNPC is expected to make the development public anytime from today, our sources said.

Business / President Buhari Appoints Exxonmobil Vice-chair To Head Nigeria's Petroleum Corp by joedams: 2:34pm On Aug 04, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil Africa, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, to head Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Kachiku is expected to take over from from Joseph Darwa at the NNPC headquarters in Abuja around 3:00 PM Nigerian time.

Dr. Kachikwu, is a very well respected technocrat with an impeccable record, has never held any political appointment, and he's one of the highest ranking black men in ExxonMobil.

ExxonMobil insiders say he is a workaholic and widely connected in the international community. He is expected to use his vast experience to restructure the NNPC, pursue creditors and recover missing funds, as well as reposition the NNPC into a world-class corporation amongst several other tasks.

Dr. Kachikwu, from Delta State, is a First Class Graduate of Law from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and the Nigerian Law School, where he was best graduand and multiple awards winner in both Institutions. He also has a Masters and Doctorate Degree in Law from Harvard Law School USA, with distinctions.

A former investment attorney in the United States, the publisher of several magazine titles, has also taught Law at Harvard, Nigerian Law School and several globally acclaimed institutions.

He has three published Law books in Investment Law and Contracts and numerous articles in various Journals. In his capacity as the Vice Chairman and General Counsel of ExxonMobil, he oversees the compliance programs of the company and advices on issues related to adherence with compliance regulations and anti-corruption laws in Africa.

Before he joined Mobil, Kachikwu worked as General Counsel of Texaco Upstream and Downstream in Nigeria.

Guy, there is a difference between barrels and litres. Barrels is what the raw crude oil is measured in. Litres is what the finished product is measured in.
