Politics / Re: 2019 Presidency: SERAP Reacts To Atiku’s Plan To Grant Amnesty To Looters by Johnakor7: 3:48pm On Jan 31, 2019
People just talk without understanding what amnesty means, if they are willing to support the country in a positive way he MAY consider instead of putting the lives of the citizen under threat

feddis:
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has countered presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, Atiku Abubakar over plans to grant amnesty to corrupt Nigerians if elected president.

Atiku said he may consider granting looters amnesty provided they are willing to reinvest their loot in Nigeria, thereby creating jobs.

The former Vice president said this on Wednesday while answering questions on ‘The Candidates’, a presidential town hall co-production on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

But, SERAP , reacting in a post on its official Twitter handle condemned Atiku’s plan to grant amnesty to looters.

According to SERAP, the corrupt must be held accountable and not escape justice.

The post read: “Dear Atiku, granting amnesty for corrupt persons will exacerbate impunity for corruption in Nigeria.

“SERAP Nigeria will challenge any such amnesty if it’s ever adopted as a policy, should you be elected into the office. The corrupt must be held to account, and not escape.”

Politics / Re: PDP, Atiku Talking Balderdash, Reading From Its Old Book – APC by Johnakor7: 10:54am On Jan 03, 2019
oga shut up, what have APC done to help the soldiers?

Naijaalive:

Countering the PDP on diversion of military funds, the APC asked the PDP to change its electioneering campaign tactics because its style of diverting public funds for politicking is now old-fashioned.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, and said allegations by the PDP that the ruling party was diverting defence funds to political campaigns was nothing but absolute balderdash.

“You know the PDP is reading from its own book and what they are talking about is what you will find there and it is only under PDP that such things happen and they need to throw that book away.

As long as they continue to read that book, they won’t know that we are in an era of change. I am sure they are shocked that by this time of the year, less than two months to the election, there are no dollars flowing everywhere. That should be a lesson to them, Democracies that have advanced; that is how they went about it. If you want to campaign, look for your own money, don’t use government money to campaign.

That is not the APC style. It is the style of the PDP to take money government money, money meant for infrastructure to give to traditional rulers in the name of seeking support for re-election. It is not the style of the APC. PDP is still reading from its old book and that is why we are asking Nigerians not to go back to Egypt,’’ he said.

APC can never be trusted a party that can not handle the truth can never make anything good

Naijaalive:

The police in Abuja have detained Deji Adeyanju again, his associates have told PREMIUM TIMES.

A message from Ariyo-Dare Atoye, a long-time friend of Mr Adeyanju, said the political activist was arrested after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

It was learnt that the police are demanding to establish the conclusion of a murder trial involving Mr Adeyanju in the mid and late 2000s.

“They are holding him at the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit over a murder case from his university days,” Mr Atoye said.

“Even though it is true that he was arrested and charged for murder when he was a student of Bayero University Kano, we are very sure that he was discharged and acquitted in the case,” Mr Atoye said.

Mr Adeyanju was at the unit, which was specially established to tackle specific serious crimes ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery, to retrieve the last of his three mobile telephone devices which the police seized from him when he was first arrested on November 28.

As of 9:30 p.m., Mr Atoye said he had contacted lawyers on behalf of Mr Adeyanju.

“The police said he jumped bail in 2005 and are asking for him to provide the certified true copy of the case in order to establish that he was indeed discharged,” Mr Atoye added. “We find this extremely embarrassing for our country, but we would try and get the copies tomorrow.”

Mr Adeyanju spent four years in prison between 2005 and 2009 after he was arrested with three others on murder charges while a student of Bayero University.

Festus Keyamo, a rights lawyer and current campaign spokesperson for President Muhammadu Buhari, defended Mr Adeyanju and the three others. One of the other three was Musa Daura, said to be a relative of Mamman Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew.

“I represented Deji Adeyanju in the matter from 2005 until 2009, and I can tell you categorically that he was not only discharged but also acquitted,” Mr Keyamo told PREMIUM TIMES by telephone Thursday night.

Mr Keyamo said he represented Mr Adeyanju on a pro-bono (free) basis at the time, buoyed largely by his longstanding interest in helping students from legal dilemma.

“Immediately I heard he was a student, I picked up the case and by the grace of God we won it and he was discharged and acquitted,” Mr Keyamo emphasised.

That has always been his work trying to rig or impeach all the time. why his busy traveling spending the funds he is supposed to put into works. nor walk.

SteveAde123:
Press release

Buhari's China Trip is to Plot Rigging of 2019 elections, Saraki’s Removal, alleges Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has faulted a trip to China on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari and his party men under the guise of participating in the 7th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Frank in a statement in Abuja described the trip as a decoy to plot how to rig the 2019 general elections in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also perfect the renewed plot to remove the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

He insisted that the President has once again demonstrated his intolerance for members of the opposition political parties by only selecting APC Governors and other party cronies for the trip instead of availing competent businessmen and women of the opportunity to attend the FOCAC Summit irrespective of their party affiliations.

Recall that the Presidency had on Thursday released names of APC Governors, Senators and cabinet members who will be on the President’s entourage to include Governors Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Akinwunmi Ambode, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Rochas Anayo Okorocha of Bauchi, Lagos, Jigawa and Imo States respectively.

Others are Senators Abdullahi Adamu, George Akume, Godswill Akpabio and Aliyu Wamakko representing Nasarawa, Benue, Akwa Ibom and Sokoto States respectively.

Also accompanying the President are: the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; Minister of FCT, Muhammad Bello; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah; Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma; Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu; Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, and Minister of State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

Others are the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar; and the Group Managing Director, NNPC, Maikanti Baru.

But while querying the entourage in a statement on Friday, Comrade Frank said the trip could not have been in the interest of Nigeria but that of the ruling APC on how to rig the 2019 general elections and perfect plans to effect change of leadership in the Senate.

Frank challenged the Presidency to tell Nigerians why only APC Governors, Senators, Ministers and others were selected for the trip if not "to perfect their plot evil against Nigeria's democracy?”

"Nigerians will recall that during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, no such trip was made without the presence of opposition Governors and Lawmakers.

"Although, President Buhari too has traveled to foreign trips with opposition governors and Senators before now but the make up of the entourage for the current trip casts doubt on the true intent of selecting these points men of Buhari for the FOCAC Summit in China.

"Our sources around the Presidency have also confirmed to us that the plot to perfect the plot to rig the 2019 elections and the removal of Bukola Saraki as Senate President is responsible for the exclusion of opposition elements from the current trip.

"In an official business trip to China where business opportunities abound, one will expect a tolerant government to travel along with foremost Nigerian businessmen and women and not party cronies or leaders of the APC’s cabal in the Senate like Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Godswill Apabio who are anti-Saraki's leadership.

“The very composition of the entourage which include heads of elite security agencies, and top brass of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) - the money pot of the country - betrays the hidden agenda of the Presidency on this trip.”

Frank, however called on Nigerians, right groups and leaders of thought to speak up on how the current administration is using the country’s resources to fund private political meetings disguised as ‘official trip’ on how to subvert the rule of law, remove Saraki and undermine the nation’s democracy in a far away country.

Timi Frank Urges German Chancellor, Merkel, to Help Save Nigeria’s Democracy

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the visiting German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to help prevail on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to adhere to the rule of law and respect the fundamental human rights of Nigerians as part of her engagements during her visit.

Frank said this has become necessary to save democracy and also stem the growing tide of intimidation, harassment, intolerance and desperation by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration as the 2019 general elections draw near.

Frank said: “Recall that I had about a month ago written an open letter to you with an humble request that you join hands with leaders of the international community to save democracy in Nigeria. I wish to reiterate that call now that you are going to be here in Nigeria on Friday.

“I believe that your visit at this auspicious moment will to a large extent help you to see the living condition of Nigerians and the slow pace of infrastructural development in the country under the present administration.

“I am happy that you have already spoken out about ongoing impunity in the country and I want to urge you to reinforce that message during your conversations with President Buhari and members of his cabinet.

“Permit me to draw your attention to my suggestions to your counterpart in the United Kingdom, Theresa May, during her recent visit to Nigeria and also to urge you to equally seek answers to the questions I proposed to her.

“I have decided to reproduce the 10 questions below for the avoidance of doubt which I want you seek answers to from President Buhari.

“The questions Nigerians want Your Excellency to ask President Buhari include:

1. Is Buhari a democrat or an authoritarian/dictatorial President?

2. Is Buhari fighting corruption or shielding alleged corrupt persons who now find the APC under his leadership a safe haven to escape prosecution?

3. Why is Buhari desperate to get Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki forcefully removed as President of the Senate - by hook or crook - through the invasion of the Senate by thugs and recent siege on the National Assembly by a section of the nation’s security apparatus.

4. Why is Buhari and APC trying to truncate democracy by refusing to prosecute those who have violated the sanctity of the parliament through the recent brazen invasion/siege on the National Assembly?

5. Why has Buhari not ensured the release of Leah Sharibu - the Dapchi school girl - who has continued to languish in captivity after others girls they were kidnapped together have since regained freedom through government’s direct intervention?

6. Why has Buhari kept the Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheik El-Zakzaky in detention for over three years despite several court rulings granting him bail?

7. Similarly, why has Buhari refused Col. Sambo Dasuki to go home after six court judgements, including the ECOWAS Court of Justice, that have granting him bail?

8. How can Buhari claim to champion an anti-corruption fight when the APC under his leadership continues to compromise the nation’s electoral process through open vote buying to win elections?

9. Why has Buhari continued to gag the press through arrests and long detentions as witness in the case of Jones Abiri - a Port Harcourt based journalist - who was detained without trial for two years and a Premium Times reporter, Samuel Ogundipe who was incarcerated for failing to disclose his sources to the police?

10. Why has Buhari refused to name murderous Fulani herdsmen as a terrorist organization just like he did to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)?

“I sincerely believe that if you ask the above questions and get assurances that the rule of law will be adhered to and human rights respected by the government, it will go a long way to strengthen our democracy, guarantee freedom of expression, association, assembly and prevent the rising gale of intimidation, harassment, arrests and illegal detention of opposition figures and journalists in the country,” Frank added.

He further noted that if the tension and instability occasioned in the country by the dictatorial tendencies of the present administration is not curbed, bilateral or multilateral agreements entered into by the country will be nugatory abinitio without peace, political stability and social cohesion.

Timi Frank Writes Theresa May ...Proposes 10 Questions for Buhari

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has called on the visiting Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, not to be deceived by the lies and propaganda being spewed by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government concerning the political, social and economic health of the country during her visit.

Frank in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday urged May to use the visit to interrogate the germane of issues which bothers on the freedom and liberty of the people to freedom of expression, association, expression, and the press in the country.

He noted that the rising scale of of human rights violations, intimidation, harassment, arrests and prosecution of perceived political enemies under the guise of anti-corruption should not escape the scrutiny of the Prime Minister.

Frank’s Open Letter to Theresa May, reads in part:

Dear Theresa May,

It is with great delight that we welcome you to Nigeria for this auspicious visit. I must say that many Nigerians, particularly my humble self, are very glad to have you visit the country. Nigerian are glad because they believe your presence in Nigeria will enable you to see things as they are and not how they had hitherto been presented to you in Downing Street, London. I also believe that after observing the harsh conditions under which Nigerians daily make their living, you will be better placed to advice the government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, on how to proceed with his change agenda in such a way that will make it beneficial to the masses of this country economically, socially and politically.

We are glad that as a Prime Minister who is at the verge of making history with Brexit in Britain, you are well acquainted on how to lead a major national reform without compromising on the rule of law and fundamental human rights of citizens. It is the hope of majority of Nigerians that following the role of the U.K. in Nigeria up to Independence in 1960, your presence in Nigeria will kickstart a fundamental change in the hostile attitude of the present administration towards Nigerians. Be that as it may, I wish to urge you not be carried away by rich hospitality and royal banquet that will be lavished on you during this visit. Rather, Nigerians want you to use the visit to re-interrogate, albeit diplomatically, the many cases of human rights abuses, disdain for the rule of law, disobedience to court orders, selective and lopsided anti-corruption crusade, intimidation, harassment, hounding, arrests and forceful detention of opposition political party leaders, and the invasion of National Assembly by hired thugs and the attempt to forcefully take over an arm of government - the National Assembly - by one of the security agencies recently.

Following your quest and passionate campaign to end modern day slavery and prevent illegal migration from Africa to Europe, I implore you to use your good offices to prevail on President Buhari to return to the path of democracy and rule of law in the conduct of government business in the country without which people seeking to escape from the oppressive regime and migrate to Europe will continue to swell.

The questions Nigerians want Your Excellency to ask President Buhari include:

10. Why has Buhari refused to name murderous Fulani herdsmen as a terrorist organization just like he did to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)?

It is important for you to ask Buhari the above questions and get clear cut answers instead of being fed with propaganda and lies for which this government is now reputed.

What a good advice it takes a good leader to know the importance of peace and harmony at any given time.

Dankwambo42019:
Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe state, has urged politicians to shun politics of blackmail and violence and ensure the sustainability of peace and unity in the country.

Dankwambo gave the advice during Sallah lunch held at the state banquet hall, shortly after the Eid-el kabir prayers. While pleading with those vying for political office to maintain decorum and avoid using inflammable words, he said that.

“As we are approaching critical political era, it is our hope that politicians in the country will allow the peace and unity of Nigeria.” According to him, the celebration is an opportunity to learn the lessons of Eid-El-Kabir by living peacefully in obedience to the dictates of Allah.

“ I admonish us all to learn from the lesson of Eid-El-Kabir and show love to one another irrespective of religious or ethnic differences. “We must imbibe the tenets of Islam by promoting harmony and peaceful co-existence amongst our diverse people.

“ Eid-El-Kabir festival connotes sacrifice, selflessness, love and obedience to the dictates of Allah”, he said.

It is always good to pay respect to who is respect is due for going to see Obasanjo is way of showing respect and awareness of his goal come 2019.

Dankwambo42019:
Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday held a three-hour closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
After the meeting at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Dankwambo declined to disclose what he discussed with the ex-president.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had a day earlier (Monday) held a similar secrete meeting with Obasanjo at the same venue.

In the last one moth, about four presidential aspirants have visited Obasanjo, all of them seeking his blessings for their ambition.

Immediately Dankwambo emerged from the meeting, he rushed to the Park Inn Hotel, a few metres away, where he held another meeting with the Ladi Adebutu faction of the PDP, after which he spoke to awaiting journalists, assuring that he would provide quality and effective leadership if elected.

He said his administration would declare war on poverty and injustice.

The Gombe governor condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government for “failing” to provide the positive change it promised Nigerians.

“We were all shouting that we wanted change but we didn’t ask how he (President Buhari) wanted to change the whole thing from negative to positive. Is he even qualified to make the change?” he queried.

Dankwambo solicited the cooperation and support of his party faithful, saying he could not achieve his aim without them.

“Nobody can do it alone, but when you understand the people you want to serve, you are going to give them the best.

I didn’t know there are potholes in Ogun State because there is no pothole in Gombe State. Victory in 2019 is coming to our party PDP.

“I have been a governor for seven years now and I am the only governor that came back the second time.

We have provided leadership before and we are still going to do more of it.

We have developed economic blueprint, we will share it, we are still looking at the event. I will provide the leadership Nigerians want”.

Dankwambo, who also addressed delegates of the PDP for the 2019 presidential primary election in Lagos, told them it was not out of place for Nigerians to sit down and renegotiate the federation, judging by what is currently happening in the country.

He said he was on the same page with politicians on the issue of restructuring.

“Anybody that sees and feels what is happening would know that Nigeria needs a better arrangement for it to function better.”

The governor, however, said renegotiating the federation did not necessarily mean we should break up, but to deliberate on how we can better improve our relationship, economy and polity.

He promised to look critically into the nation’s economy and security situation, which he said were not properly managed by the present government, if elected.

“I will replicate, in a far better manner, what I did for nearly eight years in my state, Gombe.”

The governor identified three major areas he will first tackle if given the party’s ticket and eventually wins the election.

“ Absence of quality leadership where balance decision is also absent has created more problems for Nigeria than before.

“Going by my credentials and my contributions to the development of the country in the administrations of erstwhile presidents Obasanjo, Umaru Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, I have what it takes to bail Nigeria out of its present quagmire.”

Politics / Re: 2019: APC Govt Planning To Freeze Atiku, Saraki, Wike, Other's Accounts - Timi by Johnakor7: 1:20pm On Aug 09, 2018
APC is seriously trying all means to breakdown PDP but the more they try they more it backfires

SteveAde123:
Press release

2019: APC govt planning to freeze Atiku, Saraki, Wike, other's accounts, says Timi Frank

...Condemns Akwa Ibom, Benue states accounts frozen

Immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has revealed that current administration was planning to freeze accounts of major opposition leaders ahead of the 2019 general elections to render the opposition party incapacitated.

Frank, who raised the alarm specifically listed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Rivers state governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal, National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondu and former governor of Kano state, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso among others in the latest plot.

The plot, according to Frank also mentioned the Speaker House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, who is believe will leave the APC soon.

Apart from the major opposition leaders, Comrade Frank revealed that some businessmen and women who are sympathetic to the opposition parties are also target in the plot.

The Bayelsa born politician alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari's government is doing all these against opposition leaders but not aware that he "is surrounded by thieves who have looted the treasury even more than Abacha military government."

Speaking through a statement he signed on Thursday, Comrade Timi Frank said information at his disposal revealed that the APC government is using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to raise different allegations against major opposition leaders and serving governors across the country in order to demoralised the opposition leaders and render them incapacitated financially.

According to Frank, the recent reported freezing of accounts of two PDP states (Benue and Akwa Ibom) formed part of the plot to ensure that states being controlled by the opposition parties are deprived from having resources to run government and blackmail them into joining the ruling party.

He challenged the rationale behind freezing of Akwa Ibom state account bearly few hours after a former governor of the state joined the ruling party.

Frank alleged that the new bargaining power by the APC government is to blackmail those that are having one corruption allegation or the other into joining the party for such cases to be forgotten.

The former APC deputy spokesperson called on Nigerians and international communities not to keep silence in the face of what he called "ongoing impunity and threat to democratic system of government in Nigeria.

"Even though after serious pressures we gathered that EFCC had unfrozen the accounts they earlier illegally step down, we are in the know that they will soon start with private individuals but whatever game plan the ruling party might be plotting against the major opposition leaders and other private individuals, Nigerians will rise against it."

While warning the government not to embark on any act of illegality in desperate move to win 2019 election, Frank said Nigerians and international communities are fully awared of all the happening in the country and will surely resist evil plot against the people.

Signed:

Comrade Timi  Frank

Politics / Re: Come For Us All, Secondus Dares Buhari by Johnakor7: 5:18pm On Jun 22, 2018
Buhari knows he can't compete with PDP his trying all he can to bring confusion into the party, His forgetting the party his fighting against is Peoples Democracy party.

UcheSecondus:
FOLLOWING what he perceived as a clampdown on opposition by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressive Congress (APC) federal government, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has expressed the readiness of all the party leaders to go to jail and has therefore challenged the president to come for them.

His declaration came at the heels of the arrest and detention of former Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam by the Department of State Security (DSS).

Secondus, who was speaking while leading the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to play host to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Friday, revealed that the party has dispatched its governors to interface with the DSS over Suswam’s detention.

The party boss declared President Buhari a failure, saying that Nigerians were yearning for a return of the former ruling party.
He, therefore, said the only way to meet the expectations of the citizens was for the party to ensure free, fair and transparent primary elections at all levels to regain the confidence of the people.

Is obvious Dankwambo is a loyal character to Gombe state, to PDP and to our country Nigeria, campaigning for PMB is never possible because his man that never forgets his root.

Dankwambo42019:
Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan DanKwambo has dissociated himself from a video that has now gone viral where he was said to be campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 presidential elections.

While reacting to the said video which is now in circulation in the social media, Hassan DanKwambo through his Special Assistant on Media, Junaidu Usman Abubakar declared that there is no reason for him as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for a presidential candidate of another political party.

The Governor pointed out that the video is the “handiwork of political detractors within and outside the state who are bent on destroying the political career built over the years which is visible in the performance of the PDP led administration in the state.”

While confirming the authenticity of the video, the Governor through his media aide explained that, “No, this was his 2015 swearing in speech at the stadium when President Muhammadu Buhari was elected as the new in-coming President of Nigeria. What is happening is the sponsorship of Abuja based nPDP members who want to discredit the personality of Hassan DanKwambo.”

He added that, “the detractors decided to use the video now because of the growing political influence of Hassan DanKwambo. The developmental projects executed by the administration are testimonies to his growing political influence.”

The Governor however reiterated his determination to remain in the PDP and work for its success in the general elections expressing confidence that the party is now reformed and ready to face the electorates in the 2019 general elections.

On the 2019 presidential race, Hassan DanKwambo through the Media aide explained that consultations are on-going and at the appropriate time a definite pronouncement will be made publicly.

He then called on the people of Gombie State to remain committed to the ideals of the PDP which he said has taken the state to greater heights assuring that the party will not let them down in terms of development.

Dankwambo has really done a great work in Gombe state. transforming, lighting, creating job opportunities, for the youths and for the state.
In the area of infrastructural development, it is indeed marvelous that the Dankwambo administration has started construction of over 51 roads with a view to opening the nooks and crannies of the state to development.
What is more gratifying is that the quality of the roads is adjudged the best in the entire North East Zone of the country
the Gombe Water Reticulation and Expansion programme has commenced, and it is being extended to Kwami, Gadam and Bojude. There is also a plan to reticulate water from Balanga Dam and supply to southern Gombe and parts of Gombe central with such works that has been done by him he is indeed the right candidate come 2019.

Dankwambo42019:
ALHAJI IBRAHIM HASSAN DANKWAMBO: A BETTER CHOICE BEFORE NIGERIANS?

Watch Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6cRWq5Lxnw

It is true that a golden fish has no hiding place. The professional, political and public service career of national and global leaders are always in public domain. Their performance or lack of it stands them out as the populace, public affairs analysts and social affairs commentators are wont to publicly and vocally assess their varied contributions to the socio-economic wellbeing of the citizenry at large.

The above musing aptly describes the dynamic and highly resourceful Governor of Gombe state, Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, FCIB, FCA, OON, (Talban-Gombe) within the backdrop of a higher calling that is currently tolling its bell on him ahead of 2019. For the consummate technocrat, cerebral chartered accountant and super-achieving administrative helmsman par excellence, much has been written and chronicled on his superb and superlative infrastructural and developmental exploit as well as his groundbreaking reforms both in Gombe state as the incumbent chief executive officer and the office of the Accountant General of the Federation that have repositioned and recalibrated the said offices for a more credible, responsive and efficient service delivery to the people and the nation at large.

Much of the publicity has been unsolicited as the unassuming and largely self-effacing Talban Gombe believes in silent and unheeded achievements, with solid and indelible administrative reforms and infrastructural projects on ground to speak for themselves rather than engaging in undue media hype or sensational headlines that are the province of many a politician.

However, much as Dankwambo might want to avoid the public limelight, his tremendous and all-encompassing performance at various levels of governance and administration has attracted unprecedented adulation and encomiums to the extent that no less an influential and prescient man of God, the famed Catholic prelate, Father Ejike Camilus Mbaka, has predicted that the 2019 presidential mandate rests squarely on the broad shoulders of the highly respected Gombe state helmsman. The revered cleric did not mince words while prophesying that Dankwambo has the wherewithal to take Nigeria decisively and unerringly out of the woods of despair, despondency and decay that the APC-led federal government has plunged it since coming to power on May 29, 2015.

In an unequivocal and straightforward celestial pontification, Father Mbaka predicted that the savvy and articulate Dankwambo will inherit the presidential crown in order to repeat the magic that he has performed in Gombe state and at the federal level in order to bring the country closer to the standard of living and economic attainment of advanced countries in the global comity of nations; no more, no less. With the pronouncement of the Catholic priest who is renowned for the authenticity and fecundity of his prophecies and who has never for once met Dankwambo in person, the whole political configuration, calculation and permutations for 2019 has been inexorably altered.

At the moment, the vast majority of the nation’s citizenry are lining up, locked in step behind the fortuitous and auspicious candidacy of the Gombe political wonder who defied all imaginable odds to emerge the only re-elected PDP governor in the whole of the North despite the fact that the rival APC swept the region in a massive tsunami during the 2015 general election.

Indeed, the Peoples Democratic Party leadership seems galvanized by Father Mbaka’s earth-shaking prediction affirming that Dankwambo is eminently qualified to assume the mantle of presidential leadership at any time and that his candidacy must come as a huge relief for legions of the party’s faithful as well as millions of ordinary Nigerians who are craving for a credible alternative to the directionless leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and his fellow travelers in APC. Without doubt, the last man standing, as Talban is affectionately referred to, won in Gombe on the basis of merit, hardwork, competence and exemplary performance.

He touched the lives of the people of the state in all material spheres, be it in road infrastructure, health, education, power, water supply, rural development, agriculture, manpower development and women or youth empowerment. All these sectors have been decisively and positively affected by Dankwambo’s No-Citizen-Left-Behind policy. All the eleven local government areas of the state have felt the impact of the visionary leadership of the governor. For instance, immediately after the 2015 elections, the first set of roads that were constructed Dankwambo where in the enclave of his defeated APC gubernatorial rival, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya This was in consonance with admirable mantra of Politics Without Bitterness of the Talban Gombe.

Indeed, the infrastructural revolution embarked upon by the indefatigable governor has been unprecedented throughout the nation, dwarfing those of Lagos, Rivers, Akwa Ibom among others, on an income per capital ratio, given the fact that Gombe State receives a paltry N2 billion per annum as federal allocation compared to the over N15-N30 billion naira received annually by the aforementioned oil-producing states.

Tens of thousands of kilometers of urban and rural roads have been completed while a lot more are under construction. Hundreds of hospitals, maternity and health centres, primary, secondary and Arabic schools have been either constructed or rehabilitated with adequate supply of hospital equipment, drugs, desks, chairs and laboratory equipment respectively. In the agriculture sector, tremendous progress has been attained with fertilizer, seedlings, farm implements, tractors, harvesters, planters, sprayers and many more supplied or leased to agrarian farmers at highly subsidized rates to boost agricultural production in the Jewel of the Savannah.

Dankwambo’s youth and women empowerment programme is also a complement to his development agenda for the state as tens of thousands of women and youths have been trained in fish farming, rabbit and poultry production, bee keeping, hair dressing, barbing, sewing, tying and dying, soap making, as well as confectionary skills.

All these are geared towards enhancing their income-generating and self-sustenance status. Thousands of graduates and other categories of staff have been employed in the Gombe State public service ever since the Talban Gombe assumed office on May 29, 2011.

Indeed, to catalogue the length, breadth and scope of the landmark administrative, infrastructural and developmental exploits of the Last Man Standing is beyond the breadth of this treatise, but it is fair to surmise that the nation needs, as a matter of urgency, the leadership sagacity of Governor Dankwambo, as well as his depth of experience, vision, vigour and fortitude to pilot the ship of the Nigerian State to safer and calmer shores come 2019.

Politics / Open Letter To Mr President by Johnakor7: 2:41pm On May 20, 2018
OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ON THE STATE OF THE NATION

Dear Sir,

I write this letter to you, Mr. President, with all sincerity and humility, as it is my very first letter to you since your emergence as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of our great country, Nigeria.

I would first of all like to use this opportunity to formally apologise to the immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for all the tantrums and mistreatment orchestrated by me against his person while he held sway at the helm of affairs of our great country.

Indeed, I and many others may have misunderstood Jonathan's silence for weakness and thus pushed harder to malign his person and portray him as a weak leader. Having achieved the Change Agenda, it is now crystal clear, that the change we had clamoured for is not the change we got.

While this may have come as a rude shock to some of us who preached the change mantra assiduously, particularly the youth, I am consoled by the fact that, Nigeria shall get to the promise land someday and our generations yet unborn will appreciate the genuine efforts made by those of us who stood on the path of truth, rather than being praise singers sycophants.

Mr. President, I am sure that the current state of our dear country should be a cause of genuine concern, as the symptoms of the ailment you had come to cure seem to have morphed into a killer virus waiting to consume its patient (Nigeria) as the clock ticks away.

The damning assessment of Nigeria under your leadership as released by the United States Department of State in its 2017 country reports on Human Rights, cited impunity as being widespread at all levels of government and lack of transparency by your administration. The report noted that massive corruption by government officials and security agencies is on the rise with most perpetrators being shielded from trial, thus giving room for reckless practices with impunity. The report stated that, “although the law provides for criminal penalties for conviction of official corruption, the government did not implement the law effectively, and officials frequently engaged in corrupt practices with impunity...massive, widespread and pervasive corruption affected all levels of government and the security services."

Today there is hardship everywhere with the price of fuel now N145 per as against the N85 that it was being sold when you assumed office - the over N1.4trillion already paid by your government as fuel subsidy notwithstanding. You will agree with me, Mr. President, that a report of this magnitude coming from a foreign government should be a cause for serious concern as it posits that your Anti-Corruption Agenda is merely a hoax. Furthermore, your famous slogan of “belonging to everybody and belonging to nobody” has turned out to be a mere Public Relations gimmick, meant to soothe the egos of the spectators that were present at your historic swearing-in-ceremony.

Other assessment cited by the report include the extra judicial killing of IPOB members, Col. Sambo Dasuki’s continuous incarceration, widespread human rights abuses and flagrant disregard for the Rule of Law, under this administration.

You will recall, Mr. President, that a similar report from the Transparency International (TI) was rubbished by your Ministers who claimed the global body was biased in its assessment. Surely, both agencies could not have conspired to tarnish the reputation of your government, as Nigerians can also decipher the high partiality and nepotism being practised by your government, which represents a new low in the history of governance in Nigeria.

I would therefore recommend that your Special Adviser on Media and Publicity should grab a copy of THISDAY Newspaper of Tuesday, 24 April 2018 and perhaps brief you further on the report, in the event that the content of the report has not been brought to your attention.Mr. President, it may also interest you to know that the economy under your watch has been terribly battered, with all the economic indices indicating that we are yet to recover from the recession of 2016, owing to your ill conceived policies as against the rhetoric of the erstwhile administration being responsible for our woes.

The GDP growth before you took over government and three years after being in the saddle of governance attests to woeful failure of government policies while gambling with the nation’s economic gains. The high unemployment and poverty rate as released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) should be a cause of concern to any well-meaning Nigerian, as the masses can barely survive with their current meagre income which leaves them with little or no savings to embark on other meaningful economic ventures to better their lot.

Furthermore sir, I am sure that you’re aware that the level of insecurity in the country now has reached an all time high with an average of at least 50 deaths weekly to the bewilderment of the an already wearied population, whose hopes are dashed on a daily basis. Only last week over 120 persons were kidnapped along the Birnin-Gwari Road in Kaduna State. The farmers/herders crises has continued to claim precious lives as if the nation is in a state of war. Moreover, the statement credited to you that the killer herdsmen were trained by the late Moumar Gadaffi of Libya is most unfortunate as nothing is being done to police the borders in order to prevent them from coming in as well as declaring a state of emergency on these murderous killers.

More so, the statement credited to former Minister of Defence, Gen. T.Y. Danjuma came as another rude shock to Nigerians on the state of our security architecture in the nation, not also forgetting the statements attributed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, reemphasising, that the government under your watch has failed Nigerians.

Surely, the opinions of your comrades cannot all be a farce, but rather a wakeup call to your administration that all is indeed not well with the nation. This is why I dare say that a re-election bid in the wake of this wanton killings and widespread sacrilege in the land, is definitely not the right thing to do at this time in a country engulfed with so much bloodletting. Permit me to say that as things stand today, Nigeria, under your government, has become increasingly autocratic.

Instead of enhancing freedom and rule of law, our democratic gains are being frittered away under the pretext of fighting corruption. The rights to freedom of speech and association are increasingly being denied. People can no longer freely express themselves without security agencies harassing, accusing, arresting, parading, and prosecuting them like common criminals over spurious allegations.

I dare say that I am by this letter offering myself to pay whatever price it will take for Nigeria to be free once again. I know your goons will soon come after me but I am not bothered a bit. I will continue to speak the truth. I spoke the truth when Jonathan, my kinsman, was in power and I will continue to speak the truth. Be that as it may, the truth is that you have destroyed our democracy so much so that Nigerians are now living in fear.

Under your tenure the rule of law has been replaced with the rule of force. You have injected fear into the society. People who voted for you to save them from corruption and ineptitude have been barred from speaking up against the myriads of evil and wicked acts being perpetrated by officials in your government.

Unfortunately, corruption is in the upward swing under your watch. This is why I had to apologize to Jonathan since events of the last three years have shown the former President was a better leader. People freely expressed themselves under Jonathan's administration without fear of being branded cultists' sponsors, gunrunners or aiding murderers. But not so under this administration.

Under Jonathan, Nigerians enjoyed freedom of speech, association and right to hold dissenting views including organizing and partaking in protests against unwelcome government policies. All these are no go areas today. Does it mean Jonathan was a better democrat? It is a fact that no member of the APC which was then in the opposition before 2015 was jailed or harassed for expressing dissent.

However, under this administration, the Senate President is being persecuted, Senator Dino Melaye has been arrested and detained like a common criminal, Senator Matthew Urhroghide had been attached for telling Nigerians that the Federal Government breached the Constitution by paying the sum of $496million for 12 Tucano fighter jets without National Assembly approval; the trial of Senator Isa Misau by the AGF over his face-off with the Inspector General of Police, the persecution of most members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the name of fighting corruption are all examples of intolerance under this administration.

Mr. President, while your fight against corruption is being promoted as gathering steam leading to an award given to you by the African Union (AU) recently, the allegation of illegal award of $25billion contracts leveled against the GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has not been investigated but rather the malfeasance and shoddy dealing in the NNPC has been swept under the carpet because as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources any probe of the agency will require that you make some explanations.

This government has shown total disdain for court pronouncements and the enforcement of fundamental human rights of citizens. El-Zakzaky and Dasuki will not be in jail today but for the present rule of force under this government. It is a pity that today democracy and freedom have become scarce. Insecurity continues unabated. Killings take place on a daily basis across the country either by kidnappers, Boko Haram insurgents, herdsmen, and other criminal elements having a free reign around the country. Life has become worthless and uncertain and people cannot speak out for fear of being labeled anti-government by your regime. Besides, instead of heeding the wise counsel of leaders like Obasanjo, IBB, TY. Danjuma, General Gowon, and religious leaders like Bakare and Oyedepo, you have again declared to seek reelection as President. You even boasted in Bauchi that you will be reelected which was akin to saying you will rig yourself back into office. The worse acts of corruption are being perpetuated under your regime, but people are keeping quiet because of fear of reprisals. This cannot continue. You met Democracy and freedom in 2015, when you leave office, there will still be democracy and freedom for the people. Nigeria will not end with you. Before you, others came, but today where are they? Under this regime, the homes of Honourabe Justices were forcefully broken into and ransacked. Many of them were suspended and are currently being prosecuted by agents of the executive. If this is not intimidation of the highest order what is it? Despite immunity conferred in him by the Constitution, the home of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State was raided. The Governor of Rivers State had to approach the courts for an injunction to forestall a similar treatment being meted on him. Is it not curious that Senator Shehu Sani and Dino Melaye have been framed up as being connected to criminal murder suspects just because they politically differ with their state governors? It is not also true that Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State are now being roped into the case of alleged cultists and murder suspects arrested in Ilorin? If this is not harassment, intimidation and humiliation of perceived opponents of your administration, then what is it?

Don't forget that the Senate led by Saraki has been in a ding-dong with the Inspector General of Police for refusing to honour the legitimate summons of the upper chamber. The plot to once again implicate Saraki in murder activities using alleged cult members earlier arrested in Kwara State is a new low in the antics of this administration to harass, intimidate and humiliate members of the opposition especially those of the defunct New PDP arm of the APC.

The recent attack on the Rivers State Judiciary, the invasion of the Senate and forceful theft of its mace without arrests or word of condemnation by you make the security situation worse and worrisome.

The vehemence with which members of the opposition and the New PDP arm of the APC are being persecuted makes one to wonder why close aides of yours and other high officials in this administration with criminals allegations against them are not equally being prosecuted.

Are you no longer for everybody and belong to nobody? What is good for PDP and New PDP members ought to be good for members of the CPC, ACN, ANPP and a faction of APGA in the APC as well. The reality is that members of the APC are sacred cows that can do no wrong. This growing intolerance, repression and coercion against innocent citizens has led me to the painful resolve to once again offer myself as a sacrificial lamb to pay the price for Nigeria's total emancipation from the shackles of tyranny being perpetuated by your government.

I therefore, urge all Nigerians to wake up and face the current realities and save Nigeria from total collapse under the jackboots of impunity by this administration. History will not be fair to me if I had championed the campaigns against former President Jonathan and now remain silent in the face of anti-democratic tendencies and sheer impunity.

It is my sincere hope that this letter meets you well. I also hope that my outburst will not be seen from the angle of disrespect, but rather of despair and urgency. I believe it is high time for you, as the President and Commander-In-Chief to arrest the situation and restore peace, security and rule of law in the country and confidence in the people once more.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

With best regards

Comrade Timi Frank

Dankwambo42019:
As the countdown begins ahead of May 29, 2018 Democracy Day, the administration of Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Talban Gombe, will get the most thumbs-up from people of the Gombe state and Nigeria as a whole having delivered on the dividends of democracy over the last seven years.

Talban Gombe’s achievements and contributions to the development of the state was part of the strongest points for campaign and still is a reference by his party the PDP. His government was prided by the PDP and many Nigerians as “the face of good governance in Nigeria.” His performance won him several nick names like “Talban Aiki’, ‘Super Governor’ ‘Tomorrow’s President’ and many more accolades.

Before highlighting some of the achievements of the present administration in the state, I want to say that despite the big political witchhunt and distractions from the opposition, he has not lost focus of the real essence of governance, especially in the area of improving the lives of the citizenry by ensuring delivery of infrastructural development that will affect the people both directly and indirectly.

For instance, Dankwambo has been commended for achieving several things much more than all his predecessors put together. One is his ability to dismantle the menace and excesses of the Kalare hoodlums turning them into worthy ambassadors of the state through different skill trainings and jobs. A problem which for many years portrayed Gombe state in a negative perspective.

Governor Dankwambo upgraded the 1500-bed Urban Maternity to Children & Women Hospital Idi. Constructed a Dialysis Centre, in the Specialist Hospital Gombe. Constructed College of Nursing and Midwifery, Dukku. Constructed a Snake-bite Centre in Kaltungo as well as supply and installation of 4 Dialysis machines and 2 chairs.

Governor Dankwambo rehabilitated and reticulated pipelines & extension to Kwami, Gadam etc. And provided extension of water supply to Baure, Dangar and many more communities not forgetting the construction of Earth dam at Boh, Shongom LGA.

Even in the midst of crunched economy, and technical recession, Governor Dankwambo has improved the living condition of Gombe People through laudable and human development oriented projects.

He established a micro finance bank for farmers and SMEs in all of the local Govt areas in the state and was to break the jinx of fertilizer monopoly by making much more available to the farmers as he procures over 200 tractors – from Mersi Ferguson of Italy as well as other farming implements. Talban Gombe constructed 24 times more roads that all of his predecessors – all of them had one dual use road and Talba has eight.

He renovated/constructed over 502 classrooms, recruited of over 1,000 Degree/NCE graduates apart from training of over 5,000 teachers. He also established a School of Basic and Remedial studies in Kumo, College of Education In Billiri, State Polytechnic in Bajoga, College of Legal and Islamic Studies in Nafada and sponsored 25 Students in Maritime Studies in India & United kingdom.university of science an technology kumo Akko established

Gombe has upgraded the Internatiknal Airport, which is fully functional and well equipped by the administration with regular flight schedules by Arik Air and Azman.

Governor Dankwambo has been recognized as the best labour friendly Governor for paying workers as at when due and prompt payment of pensions. The NLC themselves honoured him with that.

Gombe State being known as an agrarian state has been transformed within the past four (7) years through the procurement of 225 tractor units, markets were constructed to encourage cotton farm; restrained poultry farm among others.
