teflondon77: Wow what do i do now guys? all the Msc programs that i can opt for are just 1.5 years.. does this mean i cant get any kind of visa after my 1.5 years of study and must ultimately come back home? please help a brother from making a really bad decision. The two years Australian study requirement. In the six months before you apply, you must meet the Australian study requirement. You meet this requirement if you can satisfy us that you have completed one or more degrees, diplomas or trade qualifications for award by an Australian educational institution as a result of a course(s): that is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). 1.for which all instruction was conducted in English 2.that were completed as a result of total of at least two academic years (92 weeks) study 3.that were completed in a total of at least 16 calendar months 4.that have been undertaken while you were in Australia as the holder of a visa authorising you to study. English language proficiency courses or enabling programs cannot be used to meet the Australian study requirement. The no 3 point was what gave me the impression, since 16months translates a year and 4months...but the boss said otherwise, sorry if my info was misleading. only u can do a diligent research on ur own..this requirements are on the link posted earlier.. |

teflondon77: Thanks everyone that helped out when i asked my previous question, i have another question though, i am going for a Masters program that lasts only 1 and half years, pls does this qualify me for the post study visa?? and can i still use this as a route to get PR later when i am done?? because i read somewhere on this thread that one has to study for atleast two yrs to get Post study visa or PR, i am confused. House, before i spend all the millions i have managed to save up over the years on this, pls advice u will get ur post study 458 visa with ease, 1.5years qualifies u for 1.5yrs post study...u can go the P.R route too as long as ur occupation is nominated. I had to modify this pls..due to a call to wrong info.. its actually subclass 485, and u are entitled to 2yrs post study visa if u av fufilled at least 16 calender months of study. U can get more info here.. https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/485-# |

erictack203: My brother, these ppl don't think the way we think. If they noticed you did registration of business prior to your submission, they will feel it was done for that process. These guys check Students names on google, FB and so on.
On Facebook, they even compare your qualifications and work history if it correspond with your present circumstance. Most of the stuffs we post here can easily be dug out through Google. Thus my warnings, you may opt to take it or ignore it. hmmmm.....uu making sense bro...didnt think of it that way...now I get ur point...wld know what to share publicly next time....thumbs up.. |

I don't get you sir, what clue to refuse people, these things are required and done legally, even if C.Os are on this thread, shouldn't the right things be done? |

jorgan: @solitin40 & Johnhadey well the school fees for masters in engineering is $50,000 as against fees for UoN ( where I initially got an offer), UoN is $32,000 for one year for 3 semesters. The the cost of oshc is times two of UoN. Way too expensive for a university that doesn't even rank in Australia's top 20 universities.
Then the program is for 2 freaking years...with the way 9ja is going with the forex hullabaloo, dat means one has to spend 2 years struggling to pay only school fees of $50,000, without having a solid paying job in au with a student visa. I can't!
I salute u guys that r studying there, u r strong! Very strong!!
The summary is dat the school is way above my budget and study time frame. However, this has no bearing on your perspective of the school.we all hv different opinions n goals ok..I see...ECU is still quite affordable with respect to charges per units offered..2 years is actually 4 semesters u know which means another 2 years for post study visa... the business and management courses are quite the most affordable after charles darwin, and most flexible based on the per semester payment ($10800)...and since all australian unis are world ranked, I no look intra-ranking.. |

lanre56: a year experience. what is P.R route? permanent resisdency route. . u need like 3years work experience in ur field to ganner points with many other conditions to get ur PR. ur qualification or skill also av to be nominated either SOL or CSOL.. there is no working visa on its own for australia, as a nigerian wanting to work u either go the student route (very expensive with ease and short time processing and package PR after ur studies) or the direct P.R route ( cheap, kindda rigorous and long time processsing)..the later is far better if u can meet up all requirements including 3yrs work experience.. bearing in mind that the skills occupation list is subject to change at their govt. discretion.....u might wanna add more work experience and in 2 yrs time, ur occupation might still be or be removed from the list.. Do more research on ur own, all the best.. |

ideamaster: Curtin University is a good school. We have a couple of Nigerians here too. There are casual jobs in Perth but the limit of 20 hours per week could be a challenge.
However, to make life easy for you, come prepared to do a short course/training in aged care, disability, traffic control or security/crowd control. Any of these certificates would make it easier for you to get jobs. But it means you have to come with enough money and come a bit earlier because some of the courses take between 3 ~ 6 weeks full time.
There are also jobs working as kitchen hands, working in retail, construction etc but they are harder to get. thanks for the wonderful insight.. |

jorgan: Edakun pls come closer becos haff loss!
This thing is confusing me, I need your help with clarity.
Okay now, when I complete my one year program in au, regardless of the program length, am I qualified at all to apply for P.R, therefore gathering points from other possible eligible areas arriving at 60points, discarding whatever points 2 years study length can get me?!
Is the 2 year study thing a must before I can apply for P.R or just an added advantage in terms of gathering points? Pls I need your response edakun The 16months minumum is key to getting ur subclass 485 which would later aid ur PR..I know people that av jumped 485 by getting a bridging visa(A or B) to extend their stay conditionally for as long as conclusions on their application would be made..and they eventually got PR..tthat link is strictly who u know and how much u av.. Its certain u need use at least 92weeks in study for considered further stay through the student route.. |
Travel › Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by johnHadey: 11:00pm On Feb 17, 2016 |
jorgan: Errrm, pls chill! According to my research, the length of your study doesn't directly affect your job opportunity or P.R. However studying a course of about 2 years only adds to you points.
Every international student after study in Australia is qualified for a post study visa of two years. Msc level = 2 years, Ph.d= 3 yrs not every, dont mix it up..Applying for a temporary graduate visa Graduates must meet the Australian study requirement. The Australian study requirement is defined as study in Australia in a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) for a period of at least two academic years (92 weeks). The course itself must be conducted in English and must be completed in no less than 16 calendar months. For msc course completed in 16 months u get 1.5years post study visa. msc completed 20months above gets 2yrs post study Visa. And PHD gets 3yrs visa. the general subclass is 485, and other things stilll apply, like the course completed or the qualification u av must be nominated on sol or csol... use ds link for further guidance. http://www.border.gov.au/about/corporate/information/fact-sheets/45temp-graduate485#applying |

miliki777: yes bro its a work visa for 2yrs. what I really wanna find out is there is availability of jobs over there. thanks any type of visa has a subclass.. state ur subclass pls... australia is the least country u would wanna go to tru backdoor.. there are many job opportunities in aussie, with a P.R or strong connect, u can get formal jobs that pays $30k and above per annum with just ur naija Bsc or any Bsc, additional qualification will giv u an edge.. there are also casual jobs like age care, eatries/store attendants, cleaners, waiters e.t.c that can pay u from $25 to $40 an hour depending on the actual work and location..location means either cities like sydney, melbourne, brisbane etc or local regions.. pls elaborate on ur visa subclass, its better u get ur guidance here or be embarrassed at ur exit/entry point.. |

Harrypreye: Pls house I'm new here, just got offer from griffith and instead of 80crdt point I was awarded 40crdt point bcoz of my experience and bsc degree and my program was reduced to 1year. My question is hope my tuition fees would be based on the 40crdt left in my course as the course is an 80crdt course? ur tuition fee is strictly based on ur credit points... but if u aim at P.R or further stay after studies, u need to undergo a course of at least 1.5years. if u embark on ur 1year course, u will av to enroll in another program to continue ur stay or leave aussie after ur program.. the ball is in ur court.. |

Phemorinho: HELLO HOUSE, I JUST WANTED TO CONFIRM THIS. THERE ARE SOME UNIVERSITIES IN AUSSIE THAT DO NOT REQUIRE YOU WRITING IELTS OR TOEFL ,AS LONG AS ENGLISH IS YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE ,AND YOU CAN PROVE THAT YOUR PRIOR EDUCATION WAS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE. PLS I HOPE IT WONT AFFECT ME IN ANY WAY WHEN APPLYING,HAS ANYONE DONE THIS? it wouldnt affect u, but its advisable u write it.. u can get admission without english proficiency and u can also apply for visa without it...standardized test proofs some level of seriousness to ur C.O as a student. and u would def need it for extension visa application after MSc.. what is worth doing is worth doing now.. P.S would advise u take PTE instead of IELTS or TOEFL. |
