Politics › Re: Most Dangerous Drugs Produced In Anambra –NDLEA by johnmark1234(m): 8:04am On Jun 29, 2015 |
500GP: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has declared that the most dangerous drugs circulated in the country are produced in Anambra State. The state NDLEA Commander, Mr. Sule Momodu, who made the declaration on Saturday at the Women’s Development Centre in Awka to mark the 2015 United Nations Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking, identified one of the dangerous drugs produced in the state as methamphetamine Momodu expressed worry over the increasing production of illicit drugs, abuse and trafficking in the state and called for a concerted effort to stop the development. He disclosed that the anti-drug abuse and trafficking agency arrested at least 122 drug suspects between January and June this year. While 114 of them were men, eight were women. A total of 110.624kg of illicit drug, he said, was seized during the period under review with cannabis sativa known as marijuana topping with 107.26kg. Other seizures were cocaine, 138.2 grammes, heroine, 100.54grammes, liquid methamphetamine 2.615kg and solid methamphetamine 510 grammes. The NDLEA commander said the agency also arraigned 22 suspects during the period, out of which eight convictions were obtained while 28 fresh cases were filed. He expressed optimism that the agency would fight drug abuse and trafficking in the state, asking stakeholders to join hands in the campaign against drug abuse. Momodu warned that if the war against illicit drug use and trafficking “is not won now, the scourge will take over the society soonest.” He lauded the state Governor, Willie Obiano, for the support he had given to the agency, especially involving it in the State Security Council and the approval of a parcel of land in Awka, the state capital, for the building of the agency’s rehabilitation centre. Momodu, however, called for the inauguration of the state Drug Control Committee to help drive national drug control plans and objectives. The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jesophat Akabuike, who represented the governor at the event, restated the state’s commitment to the fight against crime in the state, including drug abuse and trafficking.

Crime › Re: PHOTO: Police Arrest Lagos Terror Robbery Gang Led By A 19 Year Old by johnmark1234(m): 9:09am On Jun 22, 2015 |
harbdulrasaq88: The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) last week arrested members of a notorious seven-man robbery gang that had been terrorizing Iyana-Ipaja, Dopemu and other areas of the state, including neighbouring Sango-Ota in Ogun.
The deadly gang led by Taiwo Amosu, 19 operated by executing house-to-house raid and subjecting their victims to severe beatings before dispossessing them of cash and other valuables.
The suspects disclosed that their victims’ financial status were usually judged by the interior décor of their apartments, adding that any of them who out of sheer stubbornness refused to release cash befitting of the gang’s estimation of them, risked being killed.
The Ogun state born Taiwo, said he tuned to robbery in search of greener pastures. “I am an orphan and I have a younger brother to take care of. I learnt aluminum work in order to fend for myself and my younger brother but due to power failure, I do not have work to do.
“My workshop is at Sango-Otta. It was in my search for greener pasture that I joined this robbery. I had gone to Agege that fateful day to play game with my friends – Owolabi, Akeem, Yaro, Damilola, Sanjo and Sunday – unknown to me, they were planning a robbery operation that night.
“I reluctantly followed them to a building at Agege where they carried out a room-to-room operation. At the end, we went back to Sango-Otta to share the loot. I was made the leader of the gang when our leader, Damilola, left the gang, but he was still controlling us from where he was and we sent him returns. We usually torture any victim who claims not to have money in their houses.
“Such comments provoke us. We knew the financial status of our victims because we usually carried out an assessment of them before striking. So, we did not condone lie or pretense from them because robbery is a serious business. In one of the operations at New Garage, we disarmed security men of their arms. When we accost any security man during operation, we normally use him as a bait to gain entry into the apartments and at the end, we would lock our victims from outside.
“We only covered our faces in areas where we feel we could be recognized. But we hardly operate around our places of abode. Our targets during operation are phones, laptops and cash. We do not shoot our victims; we only beat them and threatened to shoot if they misbehaved. We usually share our loot at Agege Motor Park.
“I get between N10,000 to N30,000 at the end of each operation depending on how much was realized”, stated Taiwo who was also said to have been detained last year at the dreaded SARS over a case of cultism.
He was reportedly the first to be apprehended by SARS operatives. His confession led to the arrest of two other suspected members of the gang; Jamiu Amsat, 28 and Owolabi Aremu, 22.
Another suspect who was identified as the amourer for the gang, and who is simply called Amsat, claimed he had never gone to any operation with the gang. He only admitted to being the gang’s armourer.
According to him, “I have never gone to rob with them. I only keep their weapons at the end of which I got between N15,000 and N20,000. Several times, they tried to convince me to join them but I could not because I do not have the emotions to stand it and I do not want to kill anyone till I die.”
However, the third suspect, Owolabi Aremu, boldly described himself as the gang’s ‘bad man’, disclosing that during operation, he usually intimidated their victims with his deep voice that sounds like a roaring lion. Aremu who resides at Atubaje Street in Agege opened up: “Whenever we approached our victims and they refused to part with money befitting our assessment of them, I would shout in my baritone voice which usually put fear into them.
If, for instance, we assessed a victim for N500,000 and they brought N100,000, I would hit them hard in the face and shout, thereby forcing them to bring out the required amount. We usually take Indian hemp and alcholic drink before going for operation. That way, we would be able to do and undo.”

olowoba: This is a source of concern. I write for a few friends of mine - hardworking and nice guys (30+ years) working in various reputable firms in Nigeria. But 3, 4, 5 years after, they are still searching for the lady of their heart desires. I also notice the trend everywhere I go.
Just as we complain about the growing number of unmarried ladies, I'm also worried abt the growing number of unmarried, comfortable men who are over 30 years.
A case in study is a popular friend of mine who has been working in the oil sector for more than 5 years. He clocks 33 this year. He still remains unmarried. He says he is still searching. I can count more than 10 of my friends - comfortable, hale and healthy, gainfully employed but single after working for more than 5 years..What can be the cause? Are ladies getting scarce, or is it that there are few "wife materials" in town now? or are they simply afraid of making commitment? I'm 36 but not yet married I will do wen I'm ready

lady2sexy: Just landed PH Yesterday for a job interview and I was amazed how PH city has transformed after over 9yrs of my last visit. on my way I saw a lot of dualised major roads, new model primary schools, health centers, etc. but what amazed me was how D-line area and the surrounding neighborhood is transformed. this was the area I resided for yrs before moving over to Lag. almost all the inner streets is done with drainage and pedestrian walk way. I said to my self is it not the place I knew before. I wish all Nigeria inner streets would look like that. I just spent a day my smart phone battery was down and I just manage to get some pics with my ever ready Nokia phone . just manage the blurred view or some one in ph can get us a much more sharper image
below are few inner streets pics taken from different locations |
