It's 6 days since we planted and the results are slowly coming in,we noticed that cu 999 had 50-70% germination in 5 days,but monalisa is around 20-30% germination in 6 days,it's interesting to see a side by side comparison,more results will be coming in as the project progresses,I think it better for my fellow farmers to see and judge for themselves,the first pic is cu999,the second is monalisa all is 6 days old

well you have a point there but it's the same land just divided by ridge,and also I am personally managing this project because we need to have a variety we will use for the dry season when a bag will be ₦5-6000k that is when we will tackle the ₦500,000 from one plot with drip irrigation,we don't have to fail again ,we must break that barrier.

Farming is sweet when it comes to harvesting. I harvested 48bags today from my 2plots of cucumber..

Thanks sir, why I chose greengo is because light green and big sized cucumbers like cu999 does not command big money from the hausa people here in ibadan (after I did my market survey) and a friend told me that since I'm a new farmer greengo would be good for me due to it's resistance to downy mildew, he told me to buy 3 different pesticides and saaf fungicides for my pest control and it produces ten female flowers to a male flower.

I spent an enlightening 1 hr at the grocery we supply cucumbers,I found out that the market women divide an average sized kaolack into 6 parts and sell #100 naira each,they further confined that bigger sized WM like koloss, Heracles,logon,etc , will be divided in 8 parts @#800 for 1 ball, quite interesting, within the 1 hr period I was there she cut and sold 5 balls,I there and then believed that the population of Nigeria is more than 200 million.

=NextDayPP post=65800928]I am writing about my experience not because I feel I have arrived, but just to tell anyone wanting to do farming that no matter how many seminars you attend, your mistakes are going to be your ultimate teacher. I moved to another village and within 2 weeks, I was planting another plot of maize (early may) since then I have settled with maize and vegetable, leaving the more complicated tomatoes out of my farm. (I also have cassava for family consumption)

Today I have what it takes to cultivate one or two acres, but I want to conclude my study on Small Well Taken Care Of Farm when produce is scarce against Large Farm When Everyone Is Planting. in case you are wondering, there is a small pond near that has helped with watering, I used the same for vegetables between October and February.



I must say you’ve done a great job , I have 6 Afre farm that I am getting ready to plant cucumber and watermelon , I have no experience in maize at all but if I get advice from you or if you can help me with more info and ideas , time to time guide I’m willing to use some part to plant maize 2 plot maybe .
