In 2003, Sen. Umeh rejected my N500 M to work against APGA - Barr. Obiokoye

By John Ndu

The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matters, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye has described the former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APGA, Sen. Victor Umeh, as a trustworthy leader who will never betray the mandate given to him.

Obiokoye recalled how he offered N500 million to Senator Umeh to thwart the witness against Peter Obi, in 2003, but Umeh rejected.

"In 2003, while I was still in PDP, I was among the delegation that approached Chief Victor Umeh with offers of Five Hundred Million Naira (500,000,000), Deputy Governor and two commissioners' slots to discourage him from his efforts to unseat the then PDP governor in favour of Mr. Peter Obi of APGA but he rejected the offers outrightly and rather persisted more strongly.

"He was put in the dock as Star Witness (PW1) for APGA in Court and he gave testimonies of how Peter Obi won the election booth by booth and at the end, Judgment was delivered for APGA and Mr. Peter Obi became Governor of Anambra State.

"How many people can reject N500,000,000 offer today not to talk of far back as 2003? That's what Ohamadike did for APGA to survive"

Obiokoye stated this last Monday, while briefing newsmen on the need to return Senator Umeh to the Senate, to represent Anambra Central Senatorial District and become the voice of Igbo nation.

He noted this in an event at Ogidi, Idemili North local government area, in continuation of the ongoing Consultation Tour of the seven Local Governments in Anambra Central Senatorial District, being embarked by Senator Dr. Victor Umeh.

Obiokoye added further, "What we are talking about is Senate. Senate is not for beginners. Senate is not for learners! There are other positions (local government and House of Assembly) for beginners but not the Senate.

" For Senate, we need someone with a matured mind; who has the Igbo spirit and respected Igbo Voice, and that is why we are calling Senator Victor Umeh to go there and represent us.

" The work that Senator Victor Umeh is going to do in the Senate is enormous. He is not going there to represent Anambra Central alone but to once again speak Boldly and Courageously for ndị Igbo. That is why we must give him all our support" he concluded.

Similarly, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu on his part recalled his experiences working with Senator Victor Umeh at various levels in the past, stressed that he (Senator Umeh) embodies the 'APGA Spirit' and can be very passionate and emotional in working for the Party to succeed.

He recalled how Senator Victor Umeh cried in his Compound on the 2nd of May 2021 when he hosted Prof Chukwuma Soludo and called on everyone to support Soludo for the Governorship of Anambra State. He said that Prof Soludo was the only one who can win the Election and keep APGA alive!

Prof Chukwulobelu regretted that for the first time, Senator Victor Umeh is having the Party's ticket being contested against him by some persons who have indicated interests within the Party but called on Party faithful, especially the delegates of Primary Election to use their votes wisely in the interest of APGA, Anambra Central and Igbo Nation in general.

PoliticsLeadership Competency: A Brief Excerpt From Dr. Val Ozigbo's Speech On 12th Dece by Johnnyfansy(op): 3:28pm On Jan 21, 2021
LEADERSHIP COMPETENCY: A BRIEF EXCERPT FROM DR. VAL OZIGBO'S SPEECH ON 12TH DECEMBER, 2020, AT “NZUKO OHA NDI NTOROBIA IGBO” WHICH HELD AT NIKE LAKE RESORT, ENUGU. (OZIGBIAN LEADERSHIP THEORIES).

Dr. Val Ozigbo was among the few selected outstanding Igbo sons that were honoured by Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths.
Very uniquely, he was the only one that prepared an intellectual masterpiece for the Igbo Youths on the day he was honoured. His speech was an excellent leadership lecture that intelligently laid bare, the practical nitty gritty of sound political leadership qualities.
Dr. Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, former president of Transcorp Group, showed a peculiar political sagacity, via the speech he delivered.
His ideas, which I have decided to tag, “Ozigbian Leadership Theories,” exposes a shrewd, smart, revolutionary and transformational mindset, which if translated into actions, will yield the much desired ideals and practices that have been hitherto missing in our political firmament.
He described the ideal leader in Nigeria, as that person that would be doggedly REVOLUTIONARY AND TRANSFORMATIONAL in all his ideas, decisions and policies. Such a leader, given the peculiar nature of our political system, has to be a radical thinker, and a stubborn performer!
Ozigbian ideas marshalled out the difference between the political needs and wants. It also went forward to list the practical means of prioritizing between the needs and wants.
His ideas are basically anchored on the practical means of effecting an overall change, in a sustainable mode. Change that would be seamlessly evolutionary, with, or without his constant input. I, was flabbergasted when he made mention of a self sustainable positive change, in an environment like Nigeria’s, but when he intelligently laid out the workable means of achieving that, I became convinced, not necessarily because I find his wording interesting, but because his ideas are crystal clear and full of practical virility.
Below, are some of his key political ideas, which made me to believe that his political peculiarities and beliefs, have been conspicuously missing in Nigerian politics; and the earlier such a talent is incorporated into the nation’s political system, the better for us.
CULTURE OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ON EXISTING ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PAST ADMINISTRATIONS. This is one political culture that is acutely missing in our political system. It is no longer news how successful administrations tend to completely discard the achievements recorded by their predecessors. In Nigeria, politics of bitterness, acrimony and animosity, has been the order of the day. Once a new administration comes in, it will either try to exterminate all records of the past administration, or continue with some of the inherited projects with a snail pace and reluctance. This, has been the unhealthy culture in our political system. Examples abound. This present administration, jettisoned the 2014 National Conference Recommendations that would have helped Nigeria. At the States level, even in Anambra, such a senseless tradition, exists. Most of the outstanding projects birthed in Peter Obi's administration, were not followed up by this present administration.
Ozigbian doctrines, frowns at such tradition of political disconnection and discontinuity. He favours improvement and continuity, for sustainable consolidation on human developments.
VALUE REORIENTATION. Dr Val Ozigbo, understands the rotten nature of our value system. He appreciates the indispensable role of sound morals, which other human development efforts rests on. Hence, his leadership theories features a significant place for authentic value reorientation of our people. A campaign that would infuse and imprint on the average psyche, the fundamental need for sound morals.
This type of idea, has never been taken seriously in our political sector; consequently, it has been the prerogative of the religious bodies. But unfortunately, the religious bodies, have little or no enforcement mechanism. People pay little or no attention to admonitions from the religious bodies. Val Ozigbo's ideas, envisages a more robust means of harnessing and harmonizing the inputs of all non-governmental moral teachers, with that of the State's, for the political benefit of our society. An incredibly wonderful idea!
SYNERGY AND REGIONAL COLLABORATION. The lack of regional synergy and collaboration, has been the bane of progressive regional development in Igbo land. Currently, no single Igbo political leader is sincerely pursuing the agenda of regional collaboration and synergy. South East Nigeria, is the most divided and loosely knitted. All the 5 States are all pursuing their individual agendas.
Dr Ozigbo cleverly brought to our attention, the wasting regional potentials of Ndigbo, viz-a-viz the industrial capacities of Nnewi, Anambra State, the commercial opportunities of Aba, Abia State, the agricultural apotentials of Ebonyi State etc. All these, could be articulated in such a manner that would literally detonate an explosive regional growth/developments.
Ozigbian Leadership Concepts, summarizes a transformational and revolutionary leader with as that person that clearly knows the way, shows the way, and also lead the way; in accordance with John Maxwell’s thoughts. Leadership is all about knowing, showing and leading…
The ideal leader needs to be an embodiment of Character, Compassion and Competence – triple C.
In summary, it is crystal clear that the Ozigbian Leadership Concept, is a 'conditio a sine qua non' for a paradigm shift in the unproductive political leadership styles in Nigeria and Anambra State. His ideas, if adopted by anyone, will certainly yield huge practical results.
Leadership incompetence has been the chief obstacle to progressive human developments in our political systems. All the political setbacks and quandaries, have all been as a result of poor leadership; just like the legendary Chinua Achebe rightly pointed out.
Nigeria, particularly Anambra, is in dire need of a leader that would espouse the Ozigbian leadership theories. And, no other person would be more qualified than the originator of the leadership theories discussed here.
The political climate of Nigeria and Anambra State, is experiencing a very turbulent times, and in the words of Pubulius Syrus, “ anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.” But from all indications, the sea is far from being calm, so a one in a kind helmsman, needs to be hired.
Dr Valentine Chineto Ozigbo is the “special helmsman” that should be hired at all costs. His towering antecedents and track records, precedes him. The phenomenal feats he recorded as the Chairman of Transcorp Group, affirms his extraterrestrial expertise in administrative and managerial capacity, a fundamental job requirements in all leadership posts. Ozigbo, is the unavoidable answer to Ndi Anambra!
Obute Ifeanyi writes from Enugu. He’s the South East coordinator of Eyes on Democracy of Nigeria. He’s also a public affairs analyst, and sociopolitical commentator. He’s also an ardent Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths member.

OPENING THE PANDORA BOX IN ENUGU STATE: GROWING IGR, ALONGSIDE GROWING POVERTY AND DEBT.

The story of the Pandora’s box is a Greek mythology in which Zeus gave a box containing all manners of evils to Lady Pandora, with the instructions not to open the box. But out of curiosity, she opened the box, and the evil contents were spilt on mankind.
If Pandora didn’t open the box, the evils would not have escaped to start afflicting mankind, but she opened it anyways.
In Enugu State, there has been a steady rise in the Internally Generated Revenue 'IGR'. But very inexplicably ironical, there has also been a monumental rise in the poverty rate among the people; and an increasing debt profile of the State. A situation that is very dangerous, albeit relatively hidden from the public purview.
The sing praises and political shenanigans in the State, has continued to obfuscate the true reality on ground – That in the midst of a growing wealth, the people are becoming more impoverished, and the State more debt ridden.
Prior to 2015, the IGR of the state used to fluctuate between (16 - 18)billion annually. To be precise, in 2015, Enugu State recorded #18,081,014,524.00 billion as the IGR. But when this present administration came in power, they smartly rejigged the revenue generating mechanism, such that as from 2016 till date, the IGR's growth has been monumental, almost a 100% increase from what it used to be as from 2015 downwards. In 2019, Enugu State recorded #31,069,466,913.00 billion IGR. Almost double of the figure recorded in 2015.
The wonderful exploits in our IGR growth, naturally ought to be reflecting in the overall socioeconomic welfare of the good people of Enugu State, but most unfortunately, the reverse turns out to be the case. There has been a steady poverty increase among Enugu people, such that has never been witnessed before. Over 58% poverty rate in Enugu State, according to the NBS latest release on poverty rate in Nigeria.
As if that is not enough, the debt profile of our State has also been increasing astronomically, such that in 2015, the domestic debt profile of Enugu State stood at #37,550,234,882.49billion; but as at June 30th, 2020, the debt profile stands at a whooping #62,436,497,337.billion. Almost 100% appreciation.
On the side of external debt stock; as at 30th June, 2016, the figure was 74,462,883.20 USD. But as at 30th June, 2020; the figure stands at 115,058,813.78 USD, a significant increase that was recorded within a space of just 4 years.
Compared with Ebonyi State, where aggressive infrastructural developments are ongoing, one would clearly detect the stark disparity in financial and resources management. In Enugu, the rate of increment in IGR is far higher than in Ebonyi State, but so also the increase in debt procurement. But then, the amount of capital intensive projects going on in the two States, is not comparable.
In 2015, December 31; the domestic debt profile of Ebonyi State was #34,168,940,626.65billion, just a 3billion difference with that of Enugu State. But fast forward to June 30th, 2020; Ebonyi debt profile stands at #41,273,963,348.50billion. Now, the difference between that of Enugu State, stands at a whopping 21billion. A clear testimony that Enugu State Government that is doing far less works, has been borrowing far more than Ebonyi State.
Also in External Debt Stock. In 2016, Ebonyi State had a debt profile of 44,190,079.17 USD. A 30million dollars difference with Enugu State. But in June 30th 2020, Ebonyi State has 59,127,695.49 USD. A little increase from what it was in 2016, and also the increase rate difference with that of Enugu State: over 55million dollars difference.
The difference in the IGR of the States is thousands of miles apart. Enugu State has been consistently generating far higher than Ebonyi in all angles. Even in the Federal Government Allocations, Enugu State is far higher than Ebonyi State; so the high poverty rate in Enough could have some sort of moral justifications, but that of Enugu State is just incongruous. No logical justification whatsoever, can be offered up for Enugu's case when compared with Ebonyi State.
Political Hallelujah boys, men, women and ladies, have been singing relentless praises of gross incompetence. Sometimes, dragging God’s Holy name in their shenanigans. It is just most unfortunate.
Enugu State has never had it this bad. The box of Pandora opened long ago, but the evils spilled on the Enugu citizenry have been tormenting us from concealed positions.
But now is the time for people to see it the way it is. For how reasonable is it for the IGR to be increasing alongside poverty and debt rate increases. It’s an evil irony.
Where are all the resources been channeled to? Why is borrowings increasing, instead of gradual reduction of the already procured debts? The Government is not working, yet it is incurring more debt for Ndi Enugu. AS IT STANDS NOW, IF THE EXTERNAL DEBT STOCK IS CONVERTED TO NAIRA, AND THE RESULT ADDED TO THE DOMESTIC DEBT, THEN THE TOTAL DEBT PROFILE OF ENUGU STATE, STANDS AT A WHOPPING #106, 273,905,387.61 billion; WHILE THE POVERTY RATE STANDS AT 58.1%. What exactly is happening?
The only logical explanation to all the enumerated imbroglio, lies in gross mismanagement of resources, high cost of governance and reckless bureaucracy in Enugu State Government. Exorbitant cost of governance, and gross indifference to the pressing needs of the masses. The worst of it all, is that the masterminds of this ugly trend, would want to continue in governance beyond 2023.

Archbishop Ibezim made the call during an anniversary marking his ten years of Enthronement as Bishop Awka diocese and one year Archiepiscopacy as the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger.

Archbishop Ibezim who noted that his life is more precious than gifts from whoever during the anniversary Thanksgiving , advised all those who have gifts for him to channel it to the churches.

Archbishop Ibezim noted that he chose to celebrate the 10 years anniversary on a low key because of the situation of things in the county.

He urged Nigerians to shun luxurious lifestyle and devote their time to service of God reminding the congregation about the reported increase in covid-19 cases and the need to observe the various covid -19 preventive measures.

He said that he derives pleasure in the service of God and and urged clergies and the lay to join him as he continues to work in the lords vineyard. " If you have worked with me this ten years, work with me for the remaining years. My greatest joy is that I'm working in my father's compound.

Some inscriptions on the placards they displayed as they chanted during the protest read; ‘Ojoto under Mbamalu has been over-run by thugs and brigands tagged taskforce’, ‘Peace has eluded us since Mbamalu came’, ‘Gerald Mbamalu has desecrated Ojoto customs and traditions, he must appease these atrocities’, among others.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters, the Chairman of the Group, Chief Anthony Uzokwe, said they came to submit a letter to government on the need to wade into the alleged atrocities committed by the traditional ruler.
He said they have made several efforts to reach out to the monarch to call him to order but he had consistently snubbed them, hence their decision to come to the government to make their grievances known.
“A lot of atrocities which the traditional ruler has committed have been a major source of worry to us as the custodians of Ojoto culture and tradition. By virtue of our position, there are things we cannot see and overlook because there are grave repercussions such disposition may have on Ojoto Akanasato and even our unborn generation. We even went ahead to let him know the necessary restitutions he needs to make but he remained adamant, so we want to alert government on what is happening,” Uzokwe complained.
Another Ojoto traditionalist, Joseph Onwuekwe, said the uncommon stance they took on the matter was to avert a major disaster that may befall the community if no immediate action is taken to put Mbamalu to check.
In his words, “The way Mbamalu was enthroned violates every laid down procedure for the enthronement of kings in Ojoto Akanasato. The kingship of Ojoto is a traditional matter and follows a process but it is on record that Mbamalu did not follow this process. We all are natives of Ojoto and we raised this alarm when this was about to happen, but they didn’t listen. Now, we can’t take it any longer.”
A female traditionalist, Ngozi Ujuaku Okeke, explained in details, some of the alleged atrocities committed by the traditional ruler which hinged mainly on high-handedness, oppression of Ojoto people and violation of cultural ethics and statutes, stating that their demand is for government to remove the monarch.
“How can an Igwe go to a burial and by himself cover a corpse and take away? How can an Igwe be struggling for food items in public with the church? This man sacrilegiously went to cut down someone who hung himself on a rope, a task reserved only for Ndi Nri (traditionalists). Now, he is planning to hold an Ofala festival, without doing the necessary things to appease the sacrileges. What an abominationation! So let the government remove him so that the right person who the town has coronated, can assume his rightful position and return peace to Ojoto land,” she said.
For another native, Ifeanyichukwu Anadi, there was no way Mbamalu could have emerged traditional ruler of Ojoto since he was not crowned by the rightful person and due process was not followed.
According to him, “Issuing certificate to Mbamalu was a major error in the first place. Ojoto community had crowned Chief Dennis Okafor as traditional ruler through a process approved by the customs and traditions of the land. He was crowned by the Okpala of Ojoto according to tradition. Government should summon Ojoto people to ask the question on who crowned Mbamalu. Of course, there is only one Okpala in the land and I believe asking this question will reveal to government that Mbamalu did not follow the right process and should be shown the exit door. Ojoto needs to heal and it is only when we have the right person on the throne that we can achieve that.”

Addressing the protesters, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Greg Obi, while commending the protesters for their peaceful conduct and assured them that government will look into the matter and address the problem.
According to the Commissioner who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of his Ministry, Henry Nwasike, nobody is above the custom and tradition of his or her community.
“I want to thank you for being peaceful. As Igbo people, we have regards for our culture and tradition. All I ask is for you to be patient. I want to assure you that government will not abandon the matter. We will follow through and find a lasting solution to the problem. This we will do in line with the custom and tradition of Ojoto. That I can assure you,” he said.

Police molestation of aged woman in Achina : SARS frustrating investigation - Victim's family

The family of the 98 years old Cecilia Okpalaku who was recently harrassed and injured by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), has bemoaned over the resistance of the Special police department, to allow for proper investigation into the matter.

You may recall that in August, 2019, there were reports of an incident in Achina, Anambra State where SARS operatives, in a bid to forcefully gain entry into the home of Mrs Cecilia Okpalaku, molested and injured her.

Mrs Okpalaku, 98, is a mother to one Emeka Okpalaku.

It was observed that Emeka had a disagreement with his wife, Esther Chiemerie Okpalaku (nee Ezekwe), over alleged termination of pregnancy.

Emeka accused his wife ,Esther of terminating a pregnancy that would have produced them a second child, while he was abroad.

Reports had it that the embattled wife, Esther, ,(who lived with the husband in a rented house), stormed the husband's hometown, Achina with some SARS operatives and in the process allegedly attacked and assaulted the 98 year old Mrs Cecilia, who tried to stop them from gaining entry into the house.

The incident happened when Emeka had travelled back to his base abroad.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Harunna, noted that the SARS operatives had to forcefully gain entry into the house because they sighted the suspect (Emeka) who they said confiscated the credentials of his wife Esther, after their disagreement, in order to deny her the chance to report to NYSC camp.

The family of the victim, Mrs Cecilia had for long petitioned for a full scale investigation over the matter.

In their petition, they presented travel documents suggesting that Emeka had travelled before the incident, contrary to what police claimed.

They accused the SARS operatives of illegally invading their home, attacked and inflicted serious injury on their aged mother.

The victim's family alleged that the matter had since been moved to the State's Special Investigation Bureau (SIB), a police department in-charge of investigation, but no progress had been made, due to reluctance of the SARS Department to cooperate with Investigation Bureau.

According to Nze Nathaniel Okpalaku, a member of the aggrieved family, Esther Chiemerie Okpalaku (nee Ezekwe) and her friend Jennifer Okafor were last Thursday arrested by the police SIB unit for interrogation, but the arrest was intercepted by the SARS department.

Mr Nathaniel opined that the action of the SARS to foil an arrest by police counterpart called for proper investigation of the interest of SARS in the Case, suggesting that SARS department had taken a side.

The family has however vowed to pursue the matter until justice prevails over the illegal transfer of aggression and consequent hospitalization of their aged mother, Mrs Cecilia Okpalaku by the operatives of SARS.

Umunya community ends rifts, as Obiano calls for peace

By John Ndu

Anambra State government has advised the people of Umunya community to fashion out measures that would promote unity and peace among them.

The state Gov, Chief Willie Obiano disclosed that during the peace parley, at the Secret land of Umunya, Oyi local government Area.

The momentous peace talk was initiated by the traditional ruler of Umunya, HRM, Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje, to resolve rifts and embrace peace, for the development of the community.

It attracted creme-de-la-creme in the community, as well as government officials, market women, regardless of the fact it was held on their market day.

Our reporter gathered that the secret land of Umunya was not a regular meeting village square, but a holy of holies, meant to deliberate grievous cases.

The Chief Priest of the community who arrived the venue with a Ojii-rattling staff, (symbol of authority of a deity with a mystical power) mandated that all respondents must remove their shoes before giving testimonies, warning that anyone who testified falsely would die after seven days.

It was observed that the petitioners, knowing the implications of the rituals absconded from the meeting.

Opportunities were given for people to express their views. Those who spoke on bare footed exonerated the traditional ruler from the crisis, as some alleged.

Gov Obiano, who was represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Traditional Institution and Community Matters, Mr Benjamin Umerah, noted that the present administration had mapped out avenues, for communities to key in his developmental strides.

Gov Obiano stressed that his administration would continue providing enabling factors that would ensure healthy living and welfare of the people.

He urged them to embrace health insurance scheme, charging wealthy people in the community to sponsor indigent and widows who could not afford to enroll, as such would promote unity and peace.

He said, “Without peace, your community can not attain development. You already have a highly respected king in the person of Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje, and in my estimation he has been doing well, and the governor, Chief Willie Obiano regards him highly.

“It would only be good for you to support your king to continue to discharge his duties creditably instead of distracting him with protests and accusations.” He added.

On his part, Igwe Onyekwuluje recalled that Oji-ana age grade (an association of oldest people in the community) had no constitutional right to litigate on community issues, but due to the honesty of its former leadership, he delegated them with such function.

The previlage was abused when the suspected acting leadership took over and started challenging the authority of the traditional ruler.

It was due to this that some miscreants in the community started alleging the traditional ruler of intimidation, forceful possession of their lands, among others.

This led to protest at the government house and as well counter protest in favour of the traditional ruler.

Some of the Oji -ana members, Mr Geoffrey Abachinam and Mr Reuben Jephat said the said petition from Oji -ana was never written, and was not in agreement with the members of the age grade.

They said the age grade were known for truth and Igwe Kris Onyekwuluje had been on the right track.

Chief Reuben Jephat moved a motion for the community to remain peaceful and to ostracize anyone who would enforce cause trouble in the community. It was seconded by Nze Emma Nweke.

Igwe Onyekwuluje pardoned his distractors and called on the gods of the land to go after whoever that would tarnish his throne, after the day's resolution.

There were cannon shots, jubilation and exchange of pleasantries.

Anambra belongs to APGA, Ezeonwuka tells PDP

Igbo Spiritual leader and member APGA Board of Trustees (BoT) - Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogilisi Igbo) has told members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southeast geopolitical zone to make good governance its priority in the Southeast States under her control rather than making efforts to reclaim Anambra State.

According to the BoT member, it is not possible for the PDP to return in Anambra State, not even at this time when the APGA Government inn the state led by the working Governor is recording an excellent level of performance.

Our Daily Times reporter recalled

that Chief Austin Umahi, the National Vice Chairman of PDP, for the South East geo-political zone, had at a reception organised for Southeast zonal organ of the PDP by Dr Obiora Okonkwo at Ogidi in Anambra State declared that his party will reclaim Anambra governorship seat in 2021. Chief Umahi said the party will ensure that it takes control of the five South-East states come 2021, through all legal means possible, insisting that winning Anambra in 2021 will complete the circle for PDP in Southeast.

Reacting to Umahi's declaration, OGILISI IGBO told the PDP protagonists to emulate Gov Willie Obiano and the APGA led Government in Anambra state by making ingredients of good governance its priority in the States under the Party.

Ogilisi stated that APGA prides in fixing roads, making adequate security measures, improving on agriculture, upgrading the standard of education and the health sectors, prompt payment of workers and pensioners and upgrading Sports sector and most importantly, flushing out godfathers in politics of the State.

According to him, "If you want to reclaim Anambra, fine, it is the constitutional right of the PDP to target a state, but it is not possible for the candidate of PDP to win election when the ruling party is on ground delivering good governance.

"APGA has grown to become a tradition here and will continue to wax stronger. Which of the States under the control of the PDP can boast about sustainable developments in Agriculture and all other sectors? Which of the PDP States can guarantee prompt payment of workers and pensioners?

"It is no longer news that many PDP States are owing a backlog of arrears of salary and pension and members of the party want to reclaim Anambra where workers and pensioners earn their pay promptly, how possible would it be?"

Continuing, he reminded the PDP folk that it was their incompetence that paved way for APGA." The PDP lost grip of Anambra because of godfatherism, insecurity, non payment of workers, lack of service delivery on road, education, health, agriculture and sport and there is nothing to show that PDP would do better than APGA if given another mandate. This is because the States under the party are faring far below what the administration of APGA is doing in our State."

The Spiritual leader dismissed the PDP threat with a wave of hands and urged APGA faithful and relevant stakeholders in Anambra to ignore the evil plot by the PDP and oppositions to take over Anambra.

"Their target is to hijack the state and introduce godfatherism. They want to milk the resources of the State in their usual manner but fortunately, APGA is on Ground" - He concluded.

PoliticsIllegal Revenue Collection: Park Managers Beckons Govt Intervention by Johnnyfansy(op): 9:41am On May 30, 2019
Illegal revenue collection: Park managers beckons govt intervention

Park Managers in Anambra state have called on government to urgently intervene in the anticipated crisis that will erupt the existing peaceful atmosphere in the state.

The Treasurer Park Managers Association in the state, Chief Nelson Enendu accused the members of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, for strategizing plans to continue illegal collection, irrespective of the state government order.

Though Enendu commended the state government for its earlier intervention for wading into the crowd when recently, RTEAN in collaboration with members of the Executive Friends Drivers Welfare Association, EFDWA, wanted to take over parks, to continue illegal collection.

It was gathered that recently, there was a total breakdown of law and order at the Niger Bridge Head area of Onitsha, near the status of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, when machetes and other dangerous weapons wielding touts took over the Onitsha-Enugu expressway, attacking anybody on sight.
Those touts were chanting “No ticket, no peace” “We own Anambra State, and we will continue collecting our levies” “Nobody will stop our work.”

About 15 people sustained various degrees of injuries as they run for their lives, while oncoming vehicles and tricycles knocked others down, resulting to different bodily injuries as they tried to escape from the attack of the rampaging machete brandishing touts in the area.

Briefing newsmen in Onitsha, Chief Enendu pointed that the members of RTEAN and EFDWA were determined to breach the order of the state government, thereby imposing compulsory revenue collection from commercial drivers.

According to him, "Recently, RETEAN invaded the parks in Onitsha, using police to impose tout on us. Some of our members, (park managers) were arrested and detained in a police station at Asaba.

"I called on government to ascertain if its consent to what was going on, but government said it was not aware, that they only recognized Urban Welfare Drivers Association UDWAS,as the only authentic body before the ban on illegal collection.

"Let me also debunk the allegation leveled against me by the Deputy Chairman Operations, of RTEAN, Mr Onyeka Ezeani, saying I collected N4800 from commuter. It is not true.

"Even when we were collecting revenue, it was N150 or N200. You can verify this from commuters." He added.

When contacted, the Chairman Urban Drivers Association, UDWAS, Onitsha - Asaba Unit, Mr Sunday Ogoegbunam, explained that those members of EFDWA were part of them, but they formed another group because they felt bad that the state government banned illegal collection.

Mr Ogoegbunam explained, " Since formation of EFDWA by aggrieved members of UDWAS, they have fermenting troubles, especially Mr Silas Igwe, Boniface Okonkwo and Osmond Okpe, who were part of our executives.

"The last time we had issues with them, government intervened but they were not satisfied with the decision of government. They sued us and we won them again.

"So they are doing everything possible to extort money from people and cause trouble in the state.

"We call on government to call them to order and possibly bring them to book, so that the peace of the state will be sustained." Ogoegbunam added.

All efforts to contact the accused persons proved abortive as at the time of filling this report.

PoliticsIf Our Lives Were In The Hands Of Oye? by Johnnyfansy(op): 8:51pm On Apr 13, 2019
*IF OUR LIVES WERE IN THE HANDS OF OYE...?*

When we stand up

in defense of mediocrity and negativity, only one thing stares us directly in the face- Failure!

Therefore, it is an established fact that those who are championing the cause of a new dawn in APGA's leadership are not the real enemies!

The true enemies of APGA are those who because of interests (of any kind), have decided to allow APGA rot in the hands of a man with so much greed and nothing in the line of sanity and competence.

Kudos must be given to genuine party men and women who against imminent threats and sanctions, are sticking their necks out in pursuit of the rebirth of the true APGA spirit and mantra of "Onye aghana nwanne ya. "

The benevolence of APGA has been made manifest in their call for the resignation of Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of APGA instead of his prosecution for the various offences he has committed against the party and humanity.

The murder of integrity and internal democracy within the party by Oye, is the height of anti-party activity!

The sale of party people's mandates to the highest bidder is the apogee of impunity and slight on the integrity and transparency for which APGA is known and through which the party has been able to exemplify good governance, through the personalities that have ascended positions of authority through its platform.

So, when next anyone asks you to allow Oye continue as the helmsman of APGA, simply ask them if they'd want their lives to be run by the same man, the same way he has run APGA in the past years.

Remember, evil thrive when good men do nothing.

See something, say something for the love of APGA and humanity.

PoliticsMirroring Apga Failed Leadership 1: When The Genuinely Aggrieved Are Not Assuage by Johnnyfansy(op): 1:59am On Apr 11, 2019
*MIRRORING APGA FAILED LEADERSHIP 1: WHEN THE GENUINELY AGGRIEVED ARE NOT ASSUAGED, DOOM LOOMS!

*

Like the voice of one in wilderness, I cry out for the crooked paths of APGA, the true Igbo party, to be made plain and that mediocrity should be abhorred as in the days of yore.

The party's journey to inclusion in the political formation of Nigeria has been a tortuous one, propped by the sacrifices of committed Party men and past leaderships as well as the sterling performance of the Governors which the party's primaries had produced.

When we say that Anambra is APGA, the true picture is that the soul of the State had been bought over the years with the commitment and expertise with which successive APGA Governors have handled the administration of the State.

And now, one would ask, what happened to our Party's internal democracy under the watch of Chief Victor Oye from where APGA is expected to produce credible leaders for the state and nation?

The answer is best imagined and not felt as the party is presently haemorrhaging from the denial, injustice and uncontrolled quest for money that threw credibility, transparency and brotherhood to the wind during the Party's last primaries.

In a "bazaar-like" manner, tickets were sold to the highest bidder and co-aspirants were left in the cold against the party's mantra of "Onye aghana nwanne ya".

What was worse, the hasty institution of a shabby process of reconciliation which instead of hitting the nail on the head and reprimanding negativity, decided to take advantage of Governor Willie Obiano's goodwill and started dishing out threats to the aggrieved members who think the right things should be done.

And we went to the general elections and lost too many good men...!

Rewind to years back when APGA leadership under Chief Victor Umeh had a similar situation in its hands, proper amends were made and the party grew stronger.

If the Igbo adage, "I gaghi eti nwata ihe, si ya ebena akwa" (You cannot beat a child and tell him not to cry) is anything to go by, then it is a given that Chief Oye has failed in one of the core requirements of his leadership task as APGA National Chairman.

The clouds are gathering! The rains will soon come and when it does, the only true hope of Igbo Political Survival cannot be washed away by the flood that will definitely ensue.

That is why Chief Oye must resign if truly his interest lies in the survival of APGA and not in its pocket.

PoliticsChange Oye: An Imperative For Apga's Survival.* by Johnnyfansy(op): 1:49am On Apr 11, 2019
*CHANGE OYE: AN IMPERATIVE FOR APGA'S SURVIVAL.*

It has become surprising and painful too, what APGA's leadership under Chief Victor Oye has snowballed into, with messy disregard for transparency and due process, and with no vision for the realization of the party's dream of becoming a formidable Political force in the Southeast and Nigeria.

When Sir Victor Umeh was the Chairman of APGA, though issues did came up as with any system, with clear vision and genuine efforts at carrying every one along, they were resolved amicably and the party waxed stronger.

Chief Oye, on the other hand, has moved far away from the reality that governs APGA, engendering an administration that has become a noisy market place where those with the highest amount buy the people's priced assets.

This was clearly seen and noticed during the last general election, where core party members were treated with scorn, like they don't matter in most states of the federation, denying APGA the very golden opportunity to push its frontiers, especially in the South East, it's supposed home base, all because of lack of vision.

It even took a comic dimension when Mr. Oye organized an 'arrangee' reconciliation of aggrieved aspirants at his house in Amawbia, showing them visible dissafection in the party.

It takes the gallantry of a leader to put things to order, and here the gallantry of Governor Willie Obiano in taking the bull by the horn played out, to salvage the condition.

Let it be known that no sane Army goes to war with a sick Commander.

Chief Oye's return as APGA National Chairman will no doubt, spell more doom for the party in Anambra State and further destroy its chances of making in-roads into other parts of the country.

There's no hope of repentance for a whose god is his stomach, who has no regards for morality, sanity or decorum.

The only way out for APGA is to change Chief Oye and enthrone a visionary leader with the knack for excellence.

This is the task ahead of us and one we must accomplish.
