The price is now increase a litle bit with a margin of 5000k , assuming you have 2000 Camry and the duty given is 140000k, you will have a total duty of 180,0000 unlike when the NAC was there that will make the total duty to be 172000. THE LATEST CHANGES ON IMPORTED VEHICLES HS CODE AND DUTY RATE

For instance, if you are having 2000 camry and the surface duty is 80000 naira, you are also expexted to pay NAC 60000 naira and that sum up to be 140000naira.Then other charges left are:
7% surchage of the surface duty.
0.5% etls which is 0.5% of the cost and freight.to get that,you multiply the FOB in dollars by the current exchange rate given by the Customs.For example, Customs give your 2000 camry value at $2031 @ 197 exchange rate, this impplies 2031×197= 400000 aproximately and that serve as the C&F.Then the etls is now 0.5×400000.
Then the next is VAT @ 5% of C&F+SURFACE DUTY+ SURCHAGE+NAC+ETLS.
The last is the total duty to that serve as your declaration and that is the addition of SURFACE DUTY,NAC,SURCHARGE,ETLS AND VAT.
By looking at above explanation,the only area that you get reduction in figure is on surcharge wich is 7% of the surface duty.But mind you that difference is never significant enough as it is not more than 5000naira below the old rate.thanks

There was a confusion among the customs agents today 08/06/15 as The DTI was unable to capture or asses entry due to non compliances of the assigned HS CODE. Despite the facts that no excuse was given for that on their website.But,I Am of the opinion that it was due to system upgrade in order to meet up with the current ECOWAS COMMON EXTERNAL TARRIF.
