I also learnt the cost of clearing differs with various terminals. Which is of the terminal is the cheapest and which shipping line will you advice that docks at the terminal?

The FOB is put at 3549usd and therefore the surface duty is 192k and total duty at 247k ,therefore the total cost to clear it is 310k. On the issues of the best terminal, you can use AES or Eukor car carrier (five star terminal). Also Grimaldi is ok.(PTML)thanks

yes! But depend on the capability of the agent to get you good value from the valuation officers since all the vehicles above 2010 does not have a fixed dollar(fob) rate. So with 1.4m, it will be ok to get it out. Thanks

The FOB values is put at 3687 usd , therefor ,the surface duty is 200K and total duty is 258k so the total cost to clear it is 340k.thanks

Important advice to all importers: Never look for ridiculous clearing price in order not to pay for double or thrice the average normal clearing charges on vehicles.Below are current dollars rate for some cars put by Nigeria Customs Service to guide you in knowing if what your agents charge to clear your vehicles is wright or not.;

Note; the value in usd is the cost and you multiply it by 155 which is the customs exchange rate ,then what you get is C&F.so,you then multiply that by 35% to get your surface duty and then any figure from that agin multiply by 128 and that will give you the total duty to pay on the vehicle.So the only charges you will be getting as unknown to you will be clearing or agency charges and that is between 100-120k.Hope you like this?

Some Importer are making fool of themself by always looking for the agents that will clear their cars at a ridiculous lowest charges knowing fully that such amount can't even pay the duty let alone terminal and shipping charges.Since there are some rogue and quack agents who are ready to pretend under any charges and collect original document and some money from such importers are all over the ports, the next wahala is "where is my car? " the agent will be asking for another additional money which will make the importer to pay double for single cosignment.my advice here is for all the im porters to always research before giving out their importation to any agent.a word is enough for the wise. There are some un scrupulous and bad agents who believed that to enriched their own pocket and put importer at loss is the best option to perform their duty.How would you feel after suffering to get container into Nigeria and you give it to an agent and the next thing you here is that your cosignment has been seize by Nigeria Customs because your agent did not pay a dime as duty and try to fly the container. A memo by the Coordinating
Minister for the Economy/
Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala, sent to the
Comptroller-General of Nigeria
Customs Service (NCS), Dikko
Inde Abdullahi, last week,
directed that imported fully
built unit (FBU) cars shall now
attract 35 per cent duty and
35 per cent levy, totalling 70
per cent charges.
The increase in duty, from the
present 20 per cent, is in line
with the Federal
Government’s new automotive
policy announced recently by
the Minister of Trade and
Investment, Mr. Olusegun
Aganga.
Aganga said the policy, which
had attracted mixed reactions
from Nigerians, is aimed at
encouraging local production
of vehicles and reviving the
auto industry.
The prices of imported
vehicles are expected to rise
astronomically as a result of
the increased import duty
while some vehicle importers
have expressed fears that the
new policy could promote
smuggling activities. Some
analysts have predicted as
much as 250 per cent rise in
imported vehicle prices from
January next year when the
new duty regime comes into
force.
The Finance Minister’s memo
also stated that the duty on
buses has also been raised
from 10 per cent to 35 per
cent without levy.
The minister’s directive dated
November 14, 2013, and also
sent to Federal Inland
Revenue Service, destination
inspection service providers
namely Cotecna Destination
Inspection Limited, Global
Scan System and SGS Nigeria
Limited stated that approval
for the introduction of the new
fiscal measures was granted
by President Goodluck
Jonathan.
On the other hand, as part of
the policy, local auto
manufacturers, like Innoson
Vehicle Manufacturing Ltd,
Nnewi; VON Automobile
(formerly Volkswagen), Ojo;
National Trucks Manufacturers,
Kano; PAN Nigeria, Kaduna and
other auto makers in the
country, will no longer pay
duties or levies on their
Completely Knocked Down
(CKD) sets imported from their
overseas partners while Semi-
Knocked Down (SKD)
components for the local
production of vehicles shall
attract only five per cent duty
without levy.
The memo explained that the
new measures, coming about
six weeks after the Federal
Executive Council approved a
far-reaching automotive
industry development plan,
were designed to boost
activities in the industry and
also attract foreign
investments.
“The above measures are to
create an environment to
support existing assembly
plants and attract other

Important info:Pls, if you are bring in any roro vehicle into the country, i am advicing you to ship it through ACL line as the cos of clearing roro is more cheaper and economical at Tinca now compare to Grimaldi as it was before.
